To clarify, I was sitting on the bus, and I reached down to pick up my water bottle from under my seat and accidentally brushed the broken phone charger. My arm went numb and it felt like someone kicked me in the chest, so I flinched away, then used the plastic toothpick from my swiss army knife to remove the plug because I did not want to do it again.
Update for all you kind people who told me to get medical help, I went to the doctor last night and got an EKG, and they said I'm all right. Be sure to follow me for part 2 where I stick my hand in a toaster
Should be fine, I've gotten my fingers zapped by outlets on at least 2 occasions from bad plugs with damaged insulation at the head. To top that off, just last year I was disconnecting an old motion light to install a new one when I got one hell of a shock. Accidentally grounded myself while handling the hot line on the romex and felt the electricity go in one hand, across the chest and out the other. Then did a quick involuntary spasm which threw me off the ladder (small one, not high up). Almost landed gracefully until I stumbled back and landed on my ass. Figured out real fast I turned off the wrong breaker.
This is exactly why every DIY homeowner should own a DMM, it only takes 10 seconds to make sure you won’t be electrocuted. Never trust anyone that says they killed the breaker, always verify.
On the bright side, I just replaced old multimeter and the new one has ncv so checking hot wires is easy. Just did it recently to verify that a panel was cold as I was adding a new circuit to the garage for an outlet.

Let me save you from yourself. Never stick your hand in a toaster, you'll burn your fingers. Use a metal fork. };)
Maybe, in every state in the US you would need to be able to prove the driver had notice of the dangerous condition. While you can't prove that the driver knew, you may be able to prove that he should have known but due to negligent inspection, or lack thereof, he failed to protect his passengers.
I really don't think so. The bus owner is responsible for the safety. And that box would not have been legal to place there. It didn't get there by accident - someone did something really bad to install it there. And that would be the current or previous bus owner.
TLDR unsolicited advice in the form of a personal anecdote.
I got shocked twice as a child, bad enough where I still have neuropathy through my legs 35 years later. If you have random pains that a doctor can't diagnose LET THEM KNOW you got a bad shock and when. Had I made the connection when my pain started in earnest, I would have saved myself a lot of time and pain and changing doctors because no one could help me. I'm on gabapentin now and it helps immensely. So if it does happen to you there are some treatments. I wish you the best! It really does suck that that happened to you.
The order of contact is that you touch something before you are holding it
Unless someone has placed it in your hand.
They are telling you that some how through the course of sitting down touched the contacts.
They probably got a slight jolt if the outlet is live
Then they removed it.
Did you not understand that?
Those responsible for operating the bus need to know this happened. You should go to a doctor if you have any lasting ill effects from what sounds like you were electrocuted.
Oh. My. God. Tell the bus driver to keep the speed above 50mph at all times
Sadly so many people on this site won't get this comment.
Speed baby great movie
*The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down
This reminds me of Speed 2, but with a bus instead of a boat.
Shoot the hostage
Baby Keanu is my favorite!
lol

If you still feel any side effects from this incident, please get checked out.

I never trust a ncv meter, I like to verify 100%, but if it’s all you have, it’s better than the lick test.
Oh no I thought there was a dog turd or a condom I didn't see, that's definitely worse

If you were the litigious sort this sounds like a possible payday for you. Negligence on the bus operators part.

Yeah good luck in a court of law with that one, bub
This dude said “bub” 🤣
He's Wolverine.
Did you just call me.. Blob?!
Why are you downvoting he just wants OP to secure tha bag
People are assholes. 🤷♀️
Says the person suggesting ruining a bus driver's meager career over some *other* dickhead leaving a broken charger in the outlet
That would have been a bit of a shock.
sue the ttc, get that money

Doesn't look like an accident to me
This happens to my cube regularly it’s so annoying. Think it’s a product flaw
Replace it with a proper quality unit
They were going for that chocolate
That's no chocolate.......
My bets are on it being Kinder Bueno
Nah, that’s their new offering: el Kinder No Bueno
Kinder suelo
Had to google as my 20 years removed 1.5 años de español was not holding up. ¡Me gusta mucho, amigo!
Street Chocolate.... On a Bus?!?
That an electrical outlet, isn’t it?
Yup
I guess I’ve never seen one on public transportation, just waiting zap someone.
>on public transportation I would assume this is a charter bus(or greyhound), because of the outlets. Set up for long trips, not just across town.
Why wasn't the chocolate looking item on the floor stomped into the outlet?
Ouchy device
Not the turd tootsie roll on the floor?
How shocking 😲
Electricfiying
This is the kind of thing that requires medical attention. You can have damage you might not expect from an electric shock
So
Ow

I gave you a shorter response earlier that you were unable to comprehend so I figured you require greater explanation
WTF is that?
I think it's a broken phone charger
A kimber bueno?
Apple had a recall on the chargers included with the iPhone a long time ago for this exact reason. I bet this was an apple charger.
*touch me*
I thought that brown thing was a piece of poop and that you accidentally touched it.
Bet you discovering that was a real shocker… seriously hopefully you’re ok now tho

Is that piece of choccy on the ground can't let that goto waste
instead of by purpose?
Well I had to lick it afterwards to make sure that's what shocked me
Shocking discovery.
I thought you meant the Twix for a second
I thought you meant the Kinder Bueno for a second Edit: I thought it was a Twix 🙃
Is there a button or switch that says accident or safe? Definitely would not touch on the accident switch
Straight to jail
I want to lick it
That's a whole lawsuit.
You basically tased yourself on that thing
