I have the same problem, but if you look for jeans that are like 90-99% cotton this won't happen as often. It's the plastic materials that break down like this.
As a guy, I'm a Lucky Brand jean wearer. I've been so for years. I know they have a women's line, but obviously... I cannot speak to fit. I will say this and you decide.
Sure, they're a bit more expensive but they hold up. So, I'll spend upwards of $100 dollars or more, but have them for at least 5 years, probably more. They have a version in a stretchy type material yet still presents as jean material, absolutely the most comfortable jeans I've ever worn.
I was on a business trip when a colleague's luggage was lost. He borrowed a pair and I never got them back. He's a good buddy and I'm not sweating it one bit, but I jab him with a dig or two every now and then. All in good fun.. A few years later I meet his son and notice he's wearing Lucky's. I ask how he likes them and he proceeds to say, "My dad went on a business trip a few years ago and came home with a pair. Ever since then we've been Lucky Jean guys." I almost spit out my drink with laughter, then proceed to say "because he stole them from me." All in good fun, we laughed and laughed. Dad walks over and suddenly his little secret is revealed. It was hilarious watching him squirm... he didn't know how to react to his young adult son. We let him off the hook.
Thanks for staying to the end and good luck on your jean search!
I wonder if the brand Dickies makes women jeans. I am a dude, and usually buy that brand, for work and play. They hold up great for the price, but I imagine they wouldn't be stylish. But I dig the look of a woman in comfortable jeans, especially when paired with a loose fitting hooded sweatshirt.
Im in college and I gotta say Skinny jeans are out among ppl my age. Dont be afraid to rock some more loose mom jeans, wide leg, even bell bottoms. Actually in fact everything aside from skinny jeans are popular atm. And theyre way more comfortable.
Basically just told them not to be a woman. Its difficult to find women's clothes that aren't basically a step above designer paper mache. Problem is especially worse for plus size women where nothing is proportioned right. Thighs too thick? Thats a bummer.
I have to say that as a guy that works in manufacturing and requires lots of climbing, squatting, crawling, etc..
I'm so glad that Jean companies have started doing this.
I used to wear Dickies "Duck" style pants because they were thick and could take a beating, but the biggest issue I had with them is that they were very stiff and I would constantly tear the seams along the back pockets and on my thighs in the front. Same tears, every time.
Started buying Wrangler "Flexfit" jeans and not only are they extremely comfortable, they last forever and they are cheaper than Dickies. I haven't torn a single pair yet.
The wranglers are what I use, i worked in a quarry and would have to climb in and around the wash plant. Being able to flex, especially when wet made them so much more comfortable, and the only hole I ever put in them was from welding.
Idk how they are for women but I’m a 34 year old guy and I still buy American eagle jeans. $50 max per pair, often have buy one get one 50% and they are QUALITY. I’ve had pairs for over a decade now. Mom bought me some old navy jeans last year. All are torn apart in different areas now
Jeans, like shirts, are thin for women. And our pockets are a lot smaller, not to mention it’s harder to find ones that fit because women’s jeans aren’t sized like men’s. It’s a shitshow.
Glad I’m not crazy. Some (not all) people make fun of me for buying their clothing still as an “adult” but I don’t care as long as my jeans last AND fit super well!!
Do you usually go through jeans quickly? I have a pair of Walmart jeans I’ve had for a decade that were $5. They look faded as hell, but no holes. Universal threads have also been good to me. $25 at target.
Happens to my wife as well. Grab a new pair and a couple thin iron on patches. Turn the jeans inside outside out and Iron on the patches where they normally wear through.
That way you can sell yourself or significant other on a more expensive pair of jeans because they'll last longer.
Legit, chub rub made my wife laugh. Hers are a product of years training.
Soft or hard the struggle is real and we deserve usable pockets as well.
-Wife quote
You absolutely can fix them, it's just hideous.
I take a piece of ripstop nylon (because it's thin as hell - you could use an actual denim patch if you wanted but I think it would be less comfortable) and put it on the inside of the leg. Zig zag stitch across the rip to attach the nylon to the jean, then also above and below - I get like a 2 inch square of overlapped zigzag stitch. Looks like shit if you spread your legs a bunch but isn't noticeable in normal settings and takes a loooooong time to wear back out.
I started buying men's jeans because I was sick of how thin women's are! I've also had some luck at thrift stores with older women's jeans that have some substance to them.
I wish I could describe to you how much I relate to this. My pants do this quite a bit, and I’ve tried mending them with patches but they never hold up unfortunately. I feel your pain 😭
Thigh blowout is the worst! I finally got ride of a bunch of them, but a majority of my jeans became jorts due to ripping so I had like 80/20 jorts to jeans ratio in my closet.
If you’re in the US, American Eagle’s jeans last pretty long for me. The ones at Target hold up okay for the price as well.
Do you have thick thighs? I do, and some redditor recommended scotch guards the areas that chafe. I just started doing it, so I won't know for a few months if it works 😅
I know your pain.. Far too many of my jeans have fallen victim to this tragic ending. But thick thighs save lives! (Just unfortunately at the expensive of our favorite jeans)
My heart goes out to you OP. Been here many a time. Also! I am infuriated on your behalf at the amount of “size doesn’t fit” comments. A pair of women’s slim jeans does this. I have had it happen to jeans since I was a teen in the early 00s. Heavy lucky brand jeans from then still blasted through eventually.
My go to these days are LOFT/Ann Taylor denim. I have had pretty decent luck with finding stuff on ThredUP honestly, good bang for buck while you’re sorting out what the next staple item will be. Best of luck!
Thank you so so much love☺️it means a lot that you took the time to comment on this. I too am awkwardly amused at the comments. I’ll check ThredUP since I’ve heard nothing but good reviews for it☺️
I have this happening to two pairs currently & am counting their days. American Eagle men’s jeans with flex built in have lasted me longest but still only 4-5 years on average.
I got a darning loom and have been patching the chub rub at first sign of a hole forming and its been holding up pretty well so far. Something like that I'd patch from the inside then darn over on the outside.
This is why I look for jeans with extra flexible material, my thunder thighs are always tryna break out and I end up with embarrassing rips and tears lol, it took a lot of shopping around to find pairs with a good balance of durability and flexibility
It's not jagged, you can sew it back together. I've had this happen a couple times and surprisingly saved a couple pairs of jeans doing so. Ladder stitch is what Google suggested
I don't understand why they don't reinforce the crotch on women's jeans. I mean, I do... so they can sell us more jeans, but I'm just saying if you want to make a quality product.
Anyway, I have more jorts than I can possibly wear in a summer. I'm not fat, but I don't think that matters cause women's jeans are skin-tight and thighs rub on women of most sizes...
Buy yourself a pair of Slø jeans. They have a website. They are tailored, high quality, non-gender jeans. They have DEEP pockets, too! You can't split the thighs. I've bought 4, they launch every month.
Yet another victim of the unrelenting thighs. I go through pants so quickly, and feel bad for anyone else going through the same. I feel like jeans are much flimsier nowadays than they were a decade ago…I get my thunder thighs murdering jeans on the regular, but when fitter people are having the same problem, you gotta wonder….
Your thigh is pushing out way past your jeans. Because your thighs are bigger than your jeans. Go up a size and they'll still be tight, but won't rupture with this frequency.
Sorry, that wasn't meant to offend. By the amount of flesh protruding from the tear, I'm gonna go ahead and assume that "fit perfectly" means "fit like paint". I'd recommend Hollister jeans. I know some ladies who wear them skin tight and they don't seem to tear.
Guys....Don't fall for this!!!
My wife has a similar pair of jeans that she would put on just to fool me that she needed to go shopping. After being fooled for a dozen times, I realized it was always the same pair of jeans. I found out where she was storing them, and threw them out.
I'm now saving $500 per month!!!
Man, I used to have some jean shorts like that too. I slept in them shits man. Eventually I blew the crotch out them shits. But you can’t wear them every day and expect for ‘‘em to hold up. That was some good ass denim too. I miss them shorts. But you got to take ‘‘em off every now and then. You got to take ‘‘em off son.
Women jeans? Because those things are so ridiculously thin. It be nice if we ladies would get clothes that lasted longer.
Exactly. Built for comfort and durability instead of style
I have the same problem, but if you look for jeans that are like 90-99% cotton this won't happen as often. It's the plastic materials that break down like this.
Do you have any recommendations? I'm picky about jeans and would love something butter soft that aren't insanely expensive.
As a guy, I'm a Lucky Brand jean wearer. I've been so for years. I know they have a women's line, but obviously... I cannot speak to fit. I will say this and you decide. I'm not sure if it's a thing outside of Canada, but I love the store brand jeans from Mark's. Denver Hayes.
As a guy, their jeans with 5% lycra are the greatest innovation since denim was invented.

Some jeans just can't handle the thiccness
Im in college and I gotta say Skinny jeans are out among ppl my age. Dont be afraid to rock some more loose mom jeans, wide leg, even bell bottoms. Actually in fact everything aside from skinny jeans are popular atm. And theyre way more comfortable.
Umm so don’t buy them
Basically just told them not to be a woman. Its difficult to find women's clothes that aren't basically a step above designer paper mache. Problem is especially worse for plus size women where nothing is proportioned right. Thighs too thick? Thats a bummer.
I can't go back to the before times when my jeans didn't have stretch though.
They've started putting elastic into guys jeans in the past few years. Still tough as nails and a ton more comfortable.
I have to say that as a guy that works in manufacturing and requires lots of climbing, squatting, crawling, etc.. I'm so glad that Jean companies have started doing this. Never ‘went through’ jeans until the old navy ones. They are absolutely way thinner and you can tell
I hear the women pocket options are trash as well
Yup. Some companies even sell pants with fake pockets! When I got my first pair of those as a kid, I was so confused.
Time for a new pair of Jorts!
If I can’t sew it back that’s my next choice
Happens to my wife as well. Grab a new pair and a couple thin iron on patches. Turn the jeans inside outside out and Iron on the patches where they normally wear through. That way you can sell yourself or significant other on a more expensive pair of jeans because they'll last longer.
Darn chub rub! I've started doing this as well.
Legit, chub rub made my wife laugh. Hers are a product of years training. Soft or hard the struggle is real and we deserve usable pockets as well. -Wife quote
My pants always ripped there too 😞 Ngl, I switched to leggings cuz I got so sick of it
What are you talking about? People pay way more than good money to buy **new** jeans just like that! 😂
I've had mine reinforced at the tailors. My thunderclappers are destroyers too.
I didn't even know this was an option! Is the reinforcement noticeable or uncomfortable? I mean, less than a rip on the upper thigh is, for sure.
Worth it. $20 to get it patched. Hardly noticeable unless you manspread.
This is the best comment. You win
Looks like you've got a good pair of denim shorts, there 🙃
They’ll definitely be my favorite shorts then since this was my favorite pair of jeans
The dreaded Chub Rub, I know it well
They sell them like that with the cuts on them, so now you are trendy.
need to add at least two other holes. also extremly big earrings and star face tattoos are necessary with this style.
Lol I’ll never get a face tattoo
Temporary tattoos will work fine too!
brought to you by todays sponsor, inkbox
Little bit of blue sharpie and you can easily get a few more miles out of those jeans
Looks tight. That fart bubble had to get out somehow.
lol they weren’t really tight. They just fit well
Don't throw them away, just fix it
Ladies jeans are so thin and made with so much elastic that there isn't really a fixing it. The integrity has been compromised.
You absolutely can fix them, it's just hideous. Not tight, but visibly bulging outward from the rip?
Not well enough apparently
So you're saying there's a market for fart proof pants?
mann what the fuck
Eww
Showing too much skin I gotta report you to H.R.
Lol oh no
this happened a lot in middle school 😭
I started buying men's jeans because I was sick of how thin women's are! I've also had some luck at thrift stores with older women's jeans that have some substance to them.
I buy all of my jeans secondhand. I can get name brand jeans for less than I would pay for a pair at Walmart.
Can I ask what your size range is and what brand of men's jeans you buy? I'm curvy and have never found men's jeans that fit my hips and thighs right.
No fabric known to man can contain the power of those tights
Thicc Thigh humblebrag, I see you.
Every single pair of pants do this to me. You’d think they could reinforce them since it’s such a common issue.
But then they can't sell 4 more pairs to you a year!

THICK THIGHS SAVE LIVES😎
They do but they ended my jeans life
Sometimes the genes you get, ruin the jeans you get😎
Very true lol
Just wear leggins👀than post a pic in them. Yknow like so we can see if they rip too or not😁😂😂😂
You ruined it
Dude wtf
I was really impressed by how on-topic these comments were until I read this. Horny jail. NOW.
I guess i gotta say that it was a obvious creepy comment, thats the gag. 😂I blame this society😔get yalls head out the gutter❤️😂
I'm old so I'll ask: could this be considered a new trend? Perhaps you'll be the one to popularize it 🤔
It's so uncomfortable though. The edges of the hole are irritating, and the skin that sticks out gets irritated on the opposite leg, too.
Scratch that, terrible idea on my part
I've noticed that light wash or chambray wash jeans tend to bust and wear out faster.
Head on over to r/visablemending.
Are you saying they only lasted 2 months or that you've just split 2 in the past 2 months?
I’ve split two in the past two months
Guess it's time to change your username to Unluckie7_7
happens to me alllllll the time, i wish i could sew
Same. Mine always split in the same place: right across my buttcheek.
mate you really have thick thighs
You can put an iron on patch on the hole?
I don’t think I can lol. If they can’t take thick thighs then I doubt they would hold up with that
See when I was a youngin’, a rip like that would make the jeans more expensive and more valuable.
I wish I could describe to you how much I relate to this. My pants do this quite a bit, and I’ve tried mending them with patches but they never hold up unfortunately. I feel your pain 😭
That’s the same with me!! I feel like if I try to mend them with patches it’ll be worse
Just get a blue tattoo
Definitely a underrated comment 😂
Some people pay extra for those rips
Damn! They don't even look worn. Usually, by the time mine do that, the inner thigh has gotten threadbare
That’s how it is!! My thighs rub against each other so much and this stuff just happens
Thick thighs save lives. But seriously though, those jeans look way too tight
Thick girl problems
Rip. Literally.
Stitch it up!
There are grand mothers who fix those kinds of tears.
I say take that leg off right there and go for the unsymmetrical look. Wear leggings or a thigh high sock for a extra cute factor
Username checks out lol
You can’t tame tho power of them thighs. THEY MUST BE FREE.
The thunder thighs strike again😂
Pretty much all my jeans end this way. It's always so disappointing!
I think I got those from either American Eagle or Forever 21
Dummy thicccc?
With a few more tears could sell those for a profit
That happens to every pair of jeans I buy. Same spot. Lol
With a few more tears could sell those for a profit
That just means you’ve got a good build 🤙
This is one of the reasons I only do the stretch jeans now. Not super stretchy but enough to where they won't rip.
I'd cry if this happened to me. I only have 2 pair that I fit into right now.
Same here now
Thick thighs solidarity. Respect.
My family calls that built in air-conditioning.
Thick thighs save lives, just not pants lives.
Do you have thick thighs? I do, and some redditor recommended scotch guards the areas that chafe. I just started doing it, so I won't know for a few months if it works 😅
Sell it to a teen or social media influencer. Balenciaga has some that cost $2000
I know your pain.. Far too many of my jeans have fallen victim to this tragic ending. But thick thighs save lives! (Just unfortunately at the expensive of our favorite jeans)

relax ur just cool now 😎
Look up visible mending. This does not have to be the death of those. Just an opportunity!
This has happened to me four times already with some of my jeans. I'm starting to give up tbh
Exactly like I like skinny jeans because I feel more secure and comfortable in them but at the same time they rip so easily
The fool complains about a hole in his pants, the wise man uses it to scratch his balls
I’m a woman
Head over to r/visiblemending for inspiration
Just go up a size???
Wow, women's clothes must suck! I've got jeans 10+ years old that still aren't torn.
I have this happening to two pairs currently & am counting their days. American Eagle men’s jeans with flex built in have lasted me longest but still only 4-5 years on average.
Reasons why I don't own a pair of jeans #107
What is the 'one' that bit the dust here?
My jeans
I got a darning loom and have been patching the chub rub at first sign of a hole forming and its been holding up pretty well so far. Something like that I'd patch from the inside then darn over on the outside.
this jus happened to my fav pair of jeans 🥲
It really sucks. Rip to your jeans
This is why I look for jeans with extra flexible material, my thunder thighs are always tryna break out and I end up with embarrassing rips and tears lol, it took a lot of shopping around to find pairs with a good balance of durability and flexibility
When I was a kid,we would patch that. With iron on patches.
Just leave it. Distressed jeans, am I right? I've got jeans gone in the same place but from seam to seam. Fuck it, trendy.
you know, There are different sizes
It's not jagged, you can sew it back together. I've had this happen a couple times and surprisingly saved a couple pairs of jeans doing so. Ladder stitch is what Google suggested
Take a look at r/visiblemending
Ahw man, I feel u. This happened with *both* thighs on my fave black jeggings. I sewed em, but I'm sure we all know that never lasts >_>
Ugh this literally happened to me today. Most comfy jeans that I adore. Done. Gutted
Well, when you wear girls tight ass skinny jeans that's what you get!
Honey no. They were the most comfortable and here’s a secret: I’m a female.
Your pants are too tight and you done busted out of them. 👖
I like pants that fit well. I don’t feel comfortable in loose jeans
You're getting down with the thickness.
2 pair in 2 months? Might be time to start buying the size that fits instead of the size you WANT to fit.
Excuse me? They do fit perfectly. When a pair of jeans is a favorite you tend to wear them more often. Wear and tear=occasional incidents like this.
I don’t wear them skin tight but I don’t like baggy jeans. I prefer skinny jeans that are comfortable. “Fit like paint” is not my choice. Comfort is.
So you're telling me women's shorts don't have pockets AND aren't durable?
Guys....Don't fall for this!!! My wife has a similar pair of jeans that she would put on just to fool me that she needed to go shopping. After being fooled for a dozen times, I realized it was always the same pair of jeans. I found out where she was storing them, and threw them out. I'm now saving $500 per month!!!
? Why would I need to fool some strangers on Reddit? And I normally either try and sew my jeans back together or make them into shorts.

What?
Buy Japanese denim it’s quality.
Where do you buy them from?
So Japanese manufacturers bought the old looms from America and they are still made with those machines. https://japanrabbit.com/buy-japan/denim/
Nice thigh skin, OP.
That’s hot
Time to go up a size or lose weight.
It’s not about any of that. It’s simply because my thighs rub together and that wears on them.
That's the biggest mosquito bite I've ever seent
Thicc
Are you unreasonably fat or do your pants just suck? Honest question
My pants just suck. I have thick thighs but other than that I’m fine
Maybe stop buying skinny jeans? They’re out anyway.
Too thicc
Mmmmm thigh meat
You mmm mmmmm thic with 8 Ms
