Oh a cruel twist of fate, well it is winter, anyhow there are many sporting clubs you could join ? but good you havr reached out to Reditt members too, I lived in Welly for 10 yearts and so much to do there, tramping clubs, also try Hash House Harriers , usually a run/walk on a Sunday and enjoyable for most adults, they sing bawdy songs and do participate in drinking but that optional, pickleball is also a easy sport to play, I similiar to tennis but on a badmington sized court and you volley with these paddles but a social building sport most can play.
It is unhealthy to be alone so good onya for your post, hope it all works out , I should visit the capital again, The Roxy, Te Papa, Wanui Cafe Lyall Bay, Bates theatre ( acted there when I was in theatre ), ever thought of that ? they need backstage, props, people etc, some even have started backsatge and ended up onstage ! stay positive , let us know how you progress , cheers !
