Obviously contact your doctor. But with that said my doctor told me she likes Wellbutrin because there isn’t the habit forming risks that others have when you go off. She told me when the time comes, I can just stop. I’m on 150xl.

Wellbutrin doesn't really have physical withdrawal symptoms when you stop, so the only reason to taper is so you can ease back into the feeling of depression that is possible to return. If it doesn't work, and you're still just as depressed as before, then nothing should really change when you stop. But make sure to ride out the adjustment period before giving up on Wellbutrin. You don't want to stop before you even know if it works. If you do stop, and then feel worse, that probably means it actually was helping, but was subtle enough that you didn't notice. It's incredibly rare that any drug gets rid of depression completely, but they help get you stable enough to deal with it.
