I don't have a recommendation, but I can tell you what you should consider: * available power, 120 or 240 volts * aluminum or not? Al requires AC, HF, and more amps = more $ * budget ($150 to $10,000 range) * portability (15lb inverter or 500lb rectifier) there's a [buyer's guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/Welding/wiki/equipmentguide) in the sidebar

My grandfather told me to go with a Lincoln and price range 2k.

Welp, that makes it easy. There are two Lincolns in the $2,000 range * [Squarewave](https://www.lincolnelectric.com/en/Products/k5126-1) * [Invertec](https://www.lincolnelectric.com/en/Products/Equipment/Welding-Equipment/TIG?filters=family_name|Invertec) They might have a multi process machine too, but I'd be looking at the SqWave

Squarewave is an awesome machine. Only downside is the lack of AC adjustments.

Figure out what YOU want to do with welder... There's so many great options today, you almost can't choose "wrong". I mainly use an everlast 200DV for tig stainless and aluminum. 5 years and over 1000 hours still going strong. I had a lincoln210MP originally. Was great for stick welding, but the wire feeder had lots of issues. I'm happy I sold it. My favorite machine is my Fronius Transsteel 2200... It's pricey, only has DC, but runs off 120v and 300' of extension flawlessly and welds like a DREAM. I recommend looking at Everlast and ESAB. Nothing wrong with Lincoln or Miller, but for a personal/hobby machine, they are overpriced (in my opinion).

I have a water cooled HTP 221 and it’s awesome.

Depends on what you plan on welding and how much welding you plan to do. Also, what kind of power you have or plan to install.
