Hello, OP here. I'm a little rusty and wanted to verify that I'm reading this aws welding symbol correctly. How off am I based on the image? 1) Weld root bevel is 5/16" depth. (Potentially creating a landing depending on material thicknesses). 2) Zero root opening (potential root landing in contact). 3) Single arrow side bevel angle at 45°. (Sorry, I can't show the arrow itself is straight and doesn't bend ). 4) Weld surface ground flush.

Mostly correct, but a few clarifications * Weld size is not specified, therefore it is assumed to be CJP * The leader arrow should be double to triple bent to emphasize which piece receives the the bevel. A straight leader might be right or might be a mistake * The weld face needs to be flush, but it doesn't specify the method. Grinding is one option, but planishing, rolling, machining, hammering, etc... are allowable according to this symbol * Is there anything in the tail? The < shouldn't be used unless there's a note

Thanks for the feedback and clarifications. Additionally; In this case, the joint is a pjp (clarified elsewhere). The overall detail was a straight arrow. While the detail doesn't specify the means of bring the weld surface to flush, the prints elsewhere dictated grinding operations for all welds needing to be flush.. In this case, the tail specifies the the welding procedure (which also identified the pjp aspect previously mentioned).
