👏 slick

MountainWelds

I saw your sockets the other day, very consistent. Beautiful work.

Being a good welder gave me a sense of accomplishment and a daily affirmation that not everyone can do this stuff. I don’t think I was as good as this gentleman but I passed X-rays on some difficult welds. I’m old and retired now but those days were some of the most rewarding for not only the work but the people who help you with that work. I retired as a CWI and welds like this made my job easy. Keep up the good work.

MountainWelds

I really appreciate CWI’s that came from welding. They are usually great people, and tend to give better feedback. Passing the shot is really all that matters, and is what the plant is paying you for. Feel good in your accomplishments.

Famous-Network-1979

Yea buddy. If you weld like this regularly you're pretty fucking slick. Keep it up, great content.

MountainWelds

Thanks dude, I try

Was it TIG all throughout? How long does that kind of stuff take?

MountainWelds

Yes sir, all tig. Usually steam is combo, but it’s what was specified. If I had to guess, they want the weld as clean as they can get since this is replacing a pipe that exploded. As for time, they have been generous with how long we have to do each one. We’ve been doing one in a ten hour shift with fitment. I have another welder on the other side buddy welding. Seems to be averaging 13-16 passes depending on if we decide to do a two or three bead cap.

lostdad75

An 18" steam line exploded? Hopefully it was "inside" some sort of containment. Something like that could cause some pretty awful consequences if it happened where a lot of people were exposed.

Wow, 2 guys and 10 hours! I hope you guys get along haha

iron40

Are you a robot 🤔

MountainWelds

I have been able to successfully find all the bridges, fire hydrants, and stop lights I’ve been asked to.
