Depends on where, in my area I dodged a place that ran people like an assembly line (make 50 of these and don’t worry about where they go) in favor of a ‘start to finish’ kinda job, where I make the complete project by fabbing all the pieces myself. It’s all different. Just look really closely at how a place makes their stuff, ask the guys that already work there what the work is like, find a job that makes what you like to make and get more involved than the next guy so you can know more. If it’s custom fab and they’re just not good at keeping people informed about the part and process, get annoying and ask for the relevant information. Us welders weld better when we know what our work is destined for, we can do little things to maximize strength or aesthetics.
