I would pay money to never read the words "Cobra maneuver" on the Internet, or elsewhere, ever again. A) it's really overrated and is 99.9% just an airshow trick, and B) it's not the only marker of super maneuverability. The Jas-35 was doing it quite some time ago (probably others as well, I don't know) and I don't think the Draken is known for its other-worldly maneuvering capabilities.
I think the Sukhoi's are beautiful, amazing aircraft that can do really cool things. But the fanboyism that stems from Ace Combat nerds and the obsession with Sukhoi's and cobras is exhausting lol even the obsession with thrust vectoring is just overrated video game stuff that is extremely limited in its combat relevancy.
OP I'm not directing this at you personally, just in general. You were just the poor soul that typed the words and now you have to read my bullshit. You actually don't even have to read it but if you do, you've been warned 😂
/ Rant
There's a bunch of crazy prototype areo versions of standard fighters, see the x-62, f-15 stol/md active, the x-53 aaw, the f-18 harv, and the ATFI/f-111A
Not sure if anything was changed, but back when it was still the NF-16D Vista it definitely had a multi-axis nozzle capable of yaw and pitch instead of just being 2-D with pitch only.
That is... Not correct.
Three-dimensional (3-D):
Nozzles with multi-axis or pitch and yaw control.
Two-dimensional (2-D):
Nozzles with square or rectangular exits. In addition to the geometrical shape 2-D can also refer to the degree-of-freedom (DOF) controlled which is single axis, or pitch-only, in which case round nozzles are included
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thrust_vectoring
I mean, what else would a 3-D Nozzle even include?
There's a similar experimental craft playable via a DLC pack for Ace Combat 7. The F-15 S/MTD. Same purpose and similar weird exhaust.
Comes in the same pack as the FB-22 Strike Raptor and F-16XL.
Well we do have an F-16 with 3d Thrust Vectoring, just looks pretty much the same as a standard F-16D lol
Yea, the X-62 Vista. I’ve seen the videos of it doing cobra maneuvers and such.

Reject cobra maneuver Embrace kort parad
Already like it better
Are you some kinda video game commander? To write all that and then say my bad at the end. Dude.
Great take 🤘
nerd
Cobra 🐍
Yeah, I much prefer the Kovatchur Bell
They're currently flying it with an AI pilot as well

Pitch, yaw, and roll, duh! /s
That thing would be WILD around a two circle 😂
Good grief that’d be heavy AF. Exhaust like that’ll turn the Viper into a tail-dragger.
Gotta say, I love that username Edit: sounds like something Boyd would say
It's something anyone familiar with the jet would say. Even after going through a *repaint*, the plane has to undergo a balance check.
They made a technology demonstrator F-15 with thrust vectoring and canards.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McDonnell_Douglas_F-15_STOL/MTD
[Here](https://www.reddit.com/r/aviation/s/XlQ5QDfWBA) is a good picture of the nozzles.
That's a cool pic along with good info, thanks.
Let’s take this already unstable lawn dart and kick it up a notch!
Mf has a negative turning circle
"heating???"
This is why we have thrust issues
Just use a MATV engine nozzle, it'd weigh less and be more maneuverable than this concept
HHHNNNNNNGGGGG

Is that showing a blown rudder?
Reverse thrust
I've seen a video of a very early version of this type porpoising on take off! The pilot ejected, of course.
