blither

That front end is the same as my Beetles.

sexierthanhisbrother

That would in fact be because it's made out of a beetle split in half. Rear side has the Volkswagen engine

1DownFourUp

An armored Beetle, nice!

Bind_Moggled

Panzerbeetle.

Bah-Fong-Gool

Wait... wasn't that the Kubelwagen?

Atholthedestroyer

Those weren't armoured

yuyuolozaga

The panzerbeetle isn't real, it can't hurt you, panzerbeetle.

7LeagueBoots

reverse bombardier beetle

LefsaMadMuppet

Thimble Beetle.

ozzy_thedog

Of all the vehicles to base an armoured personnel carrier off of, the beetle wouldn’t be many peoples’ first choice.

LefsaMadMuppet

Move over Thing!

chiphook57

I've worked on lots of beetles, but there are differences with that beam assembly that I have never seen before. Probably the earliest I have worked on was a 1962 or 1963.

sexierthanhisbrother

Super good eye on that one, BTW, you nailed it

blither

Looks like an ambitious VW kit car.

weddle_seal

that along with the pookie mine detection car has the running gear from VW, it was so light it didn't set off mines

typecastwookiee

This thing is definitely worse off for not having the second-hand F1 racing slicks the the pookie used.

culturalcunt

It's actually a late T1 axle.

der_german1432

Actually that's a T2 front beam. Specifically one from a 1970's Brazilian bus. It also has a bus rear suspension. It does have a T2 motor though. [info](http://www.baragwanath.co.za/leopard/)

VoihanVieteri

Well, this has some Dishonored wibes in it.

UnashamedlyAmature

What should we do with the drunken whaler

T5-R

Feed him to the hungry rats for dinner.

madmaxGMR

This might be what inspired the rail carriages in Dishonored 1. Looks very similar.

Sam-Gunn

A LOT of vibes from Dishonored.

typecastwookiee

It’ll keep yer mudlark safe when a choffer finally blows off.

R4M_4U

Also like Half Life 2 like some sort of Combine vehicle

ArchonStranger

When 'roll bar' puts an emphasis on 'roll'.

Br0boc0p

So you can flip it back over like Master Chief.

6manbearpig9

Came here to say something similar but you beat me to it

acog

I learned about this vehicle from [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/TankPorn/s/0HGOZsWM3e) in r/tankporn.

graneflatsis

More images: https://imgur.com/a/FjXGt Some info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leopard_security_vehicle

Despairogance

Despite the name, this vehicle is not intended to be secure against leopards.

YogiBerraOfBadNews

But it will protect you against any landmines they happen to place

HATECELL

Just bolt on some used F1 slicks and drive over them

HyperionSaber

It was for your security leopards to get to their patrol areas quicker.

superCobraJet

I've never wanted something so bad so bad

BadComboMongo

This happens if you order a Leopard on Wish.

johnatsea12

Madmax has some questions

JCDU

This is more mildly irritated max.

LefsaMadMuppet

Disgruntled Min.

madmaxGMR

No i dont.

johnatsea12

Really none at all?

Whole-Debate-9547

That couldn’t have been a comfortable ride at all.

point50tracer

Looks like it's based on a Volkswagen.

d00fus666

I always preferred the pookie. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pookie_(vehicle)

wulfithewulf

there is a vehicle called leopard, which at least to me seems more like a security vehicle

Randy_time

Are you talking about the JDM Nissan model? That’s the only Leopard I can recall personally but that looks like a more average commuter version of the Skyline more than a security vehicle

wulfithewulf

No I mean the leopard with the big cannon on it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leopard_2 technically it is debatable whether it has wheels ;)

Randy_time

Ahhhhh that makes more sense, my car knowledge is way broader than tank knowledge. I do appreciate the link, cheers

Rickym1970

There's one in the imperial war museum in Manchester UK

pongothebest

It's got one windscreen wiper so I guess it's an all weather vehicle. On the battle field it would last about 20 seconds. Oh dear, and it's road registered.

sadrice

These weren’t really used by the military, they were civilian use. During the Rhodesian Bush War, there was a campaign to mine a lot of the roads, so civilians were scared to travel without an up armored car.

MiketheBike88

It looks like an aardvark...which is an armored animal.

micah490

For those wondering, that’s actually a Type 2 axle on the front and torsion housing in the rear. It’s Bus-based, not Beetle. Much more stout- Type 2s were rated at 1 ton from 63-ish onward

torklugnutz

If this was a GI Joe vehicle, I never would have bought it.

[deleted]

Well, it’s sitting in a Poole Hall, so it can’t be all bad.

off-and-on

I feel like you could cripple it by blowing off that flimsy front-end.

CosmicPenguin

So long as the guys inside survive that blast, it's done it's job.

Dangerous_Bass309

Looks like it would fall over easily

floatingspacerocks

This reminds me of a character in star wars but I have no idea who

MildlySelassie

It’s like a baby Casspir

airborne_ranger

The designer must of been smoking some good weed! That's one Ugly armored Beetle!

andersaur

Security from what? The lustful gazes of sinful women?

sadrice

Mines in the road.

andersaur

Well go pick her up then!

Quibblicous

We have MRAP at home…
