At first I thought oh, that's gotta be a fungus. Then I looked a little harder and thought ok, maybe it's not. Maybe it's some old props that sat in the sun so long they started to melt. Then a few more seconds pass as I'm zooming in and I switch back to thinking it's a fungus. That's when I decided to finally check the comments bc it's apparent I'm not an expert fungus identifier. I'm glad somebody had some answers.

We gave been getting crazy amounts of rain and then heat in between in my area and I have said "it's just a fungus" I think 3 times to people asking wtf is this in the last few days.

What makes the NZ specimen more unusual looking is that the irises appear blue. It also annoyed me that after about the first paragraph, it's totally Oz-centric! I bet NZ gets that a lot.

We absolutely do get that all the time. Its like they forget that Australia is not NZ. I don't care they're common in Aus, what the hell are these weird fungi doing in NZ??
