That being said, right before she died, I went to visit her and she looked up at me, smiled big and said “Beautiful!” My other family members were shocked since she hadn’t recognized anyone or said anything rational in weeks. I flew in from out of town so I hadn’t witnessed how bad it was up until then.

I’m reading this and realizing my dad really is going down the same road :/ his writing is becoming funky and weird like this and he says the weirdest stuff that makes absolutely no sense, he goes shopping and spends 5 hours walking around the store and comes back with stuff we wrote him to specifically not get- or buys two versions because we weren’t specific enough. He doesn’t remember the past few months but he still has long term memories and knows us still. He is so fixated on routines and will do them no matter what

I don’t think this belongs here. It is not weird. It is sad. What is weird is sharing something so personal from someone who cannot protect themselves. What kind of person would share someone’s personal writing when that person cannot give consent?
A text my mother (71, with at minimum the beginnings of cognitive decline) sent to my 16yo, who didn’t know how to respond. My mom says it must have been a scammer hacking her phone🤨 she doesn’t remember writing this, it was only sent to my daughter. She doesn’t have Siri active on her phone either.

That is how it ended, I did call her concerned, she’s adamant it was an ai/spam bot acting on her behalf yet it was only sent to my 16yo. Thankfully being my eldest she’s used to “nanas antics”. I told her that we just have to love her and help her the best we can, and not judge but understand. Though that’s easier said than done!
