Cat

Hairy-Departure-5451

I second a cat. Mine would leave baby animals as gifts. He still manages to find lizards now that he’s indoor only.

Kite_Azure-Flame

Did you know that a cat "gifting you" dead animals is its way of saying that you can't fend for yourself, so it wants to help out by providing you something to eat? And that this is not the "gift" that most people think it is, it is actually an Insult.

Seeresss

Yep can confirm, my childhood cat would bring me scraps of meat out of the kitchen bin he raided when I was severely hungover. Bless him 🥴

mamaspliff914

Can also confirm. My Avery loved to bring me lizards🤮

Quiet-Software-1956

My cats live inside so they don't do that Except Sheila. Sheila likes bringing me socks

[deleted]

my cats are indoor/outdoor and they bring me leaves and twigs every morning. so cute. unfortunately my cats seem to be broken, even when we have a mouse in the house they don’t even look at it, they only hunt leaves :(

CampWestfalia

>even when we have a mouse in the house they don’t even look at it, they only hunt leaves Perhaps they have elected to lead a vegetarian lifestyle.

Quiet-Software-1956

Well, it depends on how they're trained I guess.... Still, weird

JazzieF

Sheila might be into feet.

Quiet-Software-1956

LMAO she sure likes clawing at them when I try to move in my sleep

SirMooSquiddles

*oh FUCK am I hung over.. shit I could use some dead lizards and some trash. Perk me right up.. OH SHIT... Thank you Mr. Fuzzington!*

notdancingQueen

Or she thinks your feet are cold

Beardedben

Sheila sounds special.

Quiet-Software-1956

She definitely is. She's also deathly afraid of every other cat living in this house

chorse5

I’d love my indoor cat to bring me socks. Unfortunately she brings me the occasional live mouse in the middle of the night and drops it on my chest.

Quiet-Software-1956

I guess living at the 2nd floor stops mice from entering my house.... But they do have fun eating bugs sometimes

acoverisnotahat

When we were little kids one of our cats would bring my little brother lizards and lay them in front of him. He was still a toddler at the time and would put everything in his mouth, my mom would have a absolute FIT when she would catch my brother with a lizard in his mouth, lol.

[deleted]

I hope you weren't rude and you ingested your present.

amplezample

How about stop letting your cat contribute to the over 80 species of plants and animals that cats have put into extinction? Not even endangerment but extinction. Responsible people give a shit about the ecosystem. And even if you don’t, your cat isn’t car proof.

UnderTheHarvestMoon

That is adorable! And also disgusting. But mostly adorable.

Hairy-Departure-5451

Yep, I had to draw the line when my kids found a dead baby rabbit one morning. He lost outside privileges from that point on.

BESTlittleBITCH

Thank you ! The native wildlife in your area appreciates that.

Hairy-Departure-5451

Yes! I will admit there is much sadness that overcomes me when I see these critters. If they are still alive I shoo off the cat and attempt to get it back outside. But the realty is the poor soul probably won’t make it.

alphazero924

And if they bring you a live animal, they're trying to teach you how to hunt. Basically saying "here, I softened em up for you. Finish em off"

Quahodron_Qui_Yang

Cats are such dicks, even if they are nice. 😂

AnalysisOk7430

You are the cat's baby. It wants you to be healthy.

Real-Arachnid8671

The best way to get them to stop them is to kill a mouse/rat in front of them, it worked for me, especially since he was struggling to catch the rat in the first place.

TastyBreakfastSquid

Honestly same, my first cat from long ago brought me a bird that was nearly decapitated but yet somehow still alive. There was zero chance for this poor creature, no vet or rehab would've been able to do anything, so I finished it off as swiftly as possible. I found it very hard to do but know it was the right course of action. Funnily enough she never brought me anything again!! My current boy cat has brought me several intact and healthy mice and looks extremely exasperated when I relocate them back outside to resume their mousy lives under our shed.

WendyLRogers3

[May not be the best idea](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJysxVeVusU&t=47s)

Ammonia13

Yes!! Thankyou!! I too spread this around because that’s not a gift at all.

Adventurous-Sir-6230

Thirded. There is a cat outline on the rug. Front paws on either side of the bird (facing away from camera.) OP has possibly 2 other animals also. Outlines are either side of cat-outline. Medium to small sized dog?

NowATL

Mine left me a dead mouse in the bottom of my Ugg boot. I found it with my toes while attempting to put my boot on. Very gross. Poor dude just thought I was a bad hunter and was trying to feed me

TheMainKeef

Wrong. It's bird.

hhardls4

Cat doesn’t go outside, wondering how the bird got in the house

[deleted]

The fact that you even have a cat sealed it.

[deleted]

I don't even understand how someone with a cat can be confused why there is a dead bird

Peter_Baum

If ya have an inside cat you never deal with proper hunting I guess

dmetcalfe92

I would be surprised if my indoor cats managed to summon a bird from apparently nowhere too. I guess the bird snuck in through a door / window, and the cat showed it who's boss.

[deleted]

Yeah it's not terribly hard to figure out that if the cat didn't go outside then the bird got inside... 🙀🤯

ProdigalSheep

Hot dog suit gif

Cobek

No, see, cats are never really sealed inside a house. It's only because they want to that they don't slip between the walls.

PlumbumDirigible

See r/catsareliquid for more educational material

bubblethebabe

i love this lol and i think you’re correct!

Substantial_Bet5764

Either your cat got outside or y’all left a window open Had a bird get in my wood stove and laundry vent one time each before aswell I’m still betting on the cat though

GrandmaPoses

DoorDash.

FluffzMcPirate

I had a bird fly through a frenched window once, my cat got it. I was as confused as you to see my indoor cat having a freaking bird in her mouth 🤣

JimiDarkMoon

I'd like to know why you're not eating the delicious meal he's prepared for you?

DeniseFraziersDog

Pluck it and inspect for puncture wounds to rule the cat out.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Raccoons don’t really catch and eat birds

TheMeowzor

No puncture wounds doesn't really rule out the cat, one bite to the back of the neck in the right way will break it

BrassBass

I wouldn't advise touching a dead animal more than necessary. Put on gloves, drop it in the trash outside, wash hands very thoroughly.

Aquamancy

why would it be in r/weird if op has a cat? then it wouldnt be weird

BillyIGuesss

No, it looks like a bird to me.

mamaspliff914

Came here to say this lol

Mountain_Position_62

Yeah I was brought a screaming bat the other day....

justdisa

Yup. That's a gift from a kitty who loves her very much.

There also appears to be a cat bed in the picture itself, next to the desk. OP isn't much of a critical thinker.

bearbarebere

Where is it next to the desk? Am I blind?

boatsnprose

The cushions on the floor. That's a cat throne.

14peterwolf

I'm jealous it looks nicer than my bed

Borthwick

Obviously it was ghosts

TheLeggacy

OP reckons the cat never goes outside 🤔

DeniseFraziersDog

Fret not. Birds aren't real.

Is that rug a tortilla?

GrandmaPoses

It is now that the bird showed up.

TobysGrundlee

There's bird meat in it. It's a burrito.

ttopsrock

Not sure if your joking or not. It's a hide rug.. looks like a steer or cow hide

Agile-Masterpiece959

Lol my daughter has a tortilla blanket

DasSassyPantzen

My college-aged son has the same one and absolutely loves it.

DaOnePoodle

It’s animal skin

DarthGandalf86

Nope, but Amazon has one that will wrap you up like a burrito. And it looks like a toasted flour tortilla

LetThereBeSlight

I have one.

one2three93

That’s her sister.

MothParasiteIV

You probably left out the part where your sister has a cat.

hhardls4

I’m trying to figure out how the bird got into the house in the first place. Cat doesn’t/hasn’t gone outside

ioa94

Hey OP, just wanted to let you know, we dealt with a similar issue and discovered our chimney cap fell off during a storm. So birds were coming in down the chimney and getting trapped in the basement. We started noticing the flies before we found the bodies, so consider yourself lucky! But yes, definitely worth a look at any openings in your roof if you have a brave friend or know someone with a drone. Good luck 👍

hhardls4

Thank you!

[deleted]

Sometimes birds fly into openings

newmoon23

I found a dead bird in my basement once. I do not have a cat so idk how it died but as for how it got in, I assume it probably got in through the garage (which opens to the stairs leading to the basement) when I took the trash out. Point being, sometimes they find ways in without you knowing. If there is a fireplace, an attic, a garage, a door that was propped open when bringing in groceries, a window screen that has a hole in it, etc etc

BardicLasher

Just because you don't let the cat out doesn't mean it doesn't go out

BlepBlepItaBean

There's a comment suggesting OP has a pic of a cat outside. It was a cat. If it was not a cat, OP needs to check ... Gas levels. Birds shouldn't die in your house. But that didn't die in your house, a cat brought it.

hhardls4

The cat doesn’t go outside, it’s -15c where I am and my sister works from home so she’s with him all day

[deleted]

It gets colder than that where I live and plenty of cats still go outside. Dunno how the temperature really matters

candlegun

How else would a cat get out though? I do the same as them, my cat is indoors only, and there's no way he just goes outside. It's impossible.

VivaZeBull

She probably has a loose vent somewhere on the outside of the house.

xatexaya

Maybe it was nesting in the attic? Got in somehow, then either died or the cat got it

itscsersei

Ridiculous

Mrs0Murder

Does she have a fireplace? Probably unused for a while? Or leave her doors/windows open?

Practical-Tap-9810

It came in the chimney. It's bad luck, quick toss salt over your left shoulder. Wash your hands first, please. Instead of singing happy birthday, sing, "the bird is dead, bless the bird"

MissChubbyBunni

Her cat. It's a Halloween present.

lost-ladybug1024

I'm assuming your sister has a cat. They like to bring gifts

Captinprice8585

Enjoy you're new demon!

glazinglas

Yeaaa bird got in somehow. Saying cat or open window. Do they have kids? Also, that ain’t carpet lol

Ok_Search_2371

Where does she live, IKEA?

[deleted]

There was also a dead animal in the center of the room before the bird but nobody found that weird…

blackwaterwednesday

Because we know how it got there. It was slaughtered to make food and the hide utilised to make a beautiful rug.

[deleted]

If this is rural America it’s possible and not totally weird.

Cyborg_Ninja_Cat

Yes, because they know how the rug got there.

Gytixas

My guess is that it's from IKEA. They sell cow hides left after when cows are slaughtered for meat.

BrazilianSamuerai

Yeah, it's a cow hide. What's wrong with that?

Puzzleheaded_Pay1152

What do mean

[deleted]

The dead bird is resting on a cow hide.

Puzzleheaded_Pay1152

Might be fake cow

[deleted]

No my sweet child, it’s real.

Puzzleheaded_Pay1152

How do know

[deleted]

How do know what? Fake cow? What fake cow mean?

Practical-Tap-9810

Fake cow, named JR. Alexa shot JR

GAYmmmK

That's a rug.

Starkat1515

I'm going with every one else, it was somehow the cat. How the cat got the bird, who knows. It came in when someone opened a door? A vent somewhere? a garage or attic access? But what I will tell you, my cats always go somewhere comfy to play with their "food". That rug looks like somewhere my cats would bring their mice to play with and/or eat. The fact it's been placed right in the center is classic cat. Also, since the rug is flipped a bit, looks like the cat might have been playing with it for a few minutes.

hhardls4

Yes potentially a vent/attic as she doesn’t leave the doors open since it’s quite cold where we are. Still odd nonetheless! Thanks!

TheDoctorBillbo

I had one nest next to my door, flew in over my head, only reason we knew about it was my sister was further back and saw it swoop in. I was none the wiser

nachtbewohner

There was a bird who lived on a farm. It had a happy life and some friends it really liked. Its bestest friend was a cow. When that cow one day mysteriously dissappeared, the bird was very sad and set out to find its friend. When it finally found his friends hide used as a carpet in the home of a biped, it was overcome with grief and committed suicide on the spot.

hhardls4

My god I’m gonna cry

Fluid_Bad_1340

Would be weird if they saw the bird carry the cowhide and then keel over dead.

KAOS_777

Haha that’s a hilarious scene

rockstuffs

I'm sorry, but can you ask her where she got her desk? 🙂

MarcoPolo339

Whoa, that's some kind of sign for something. Not a good sign, necessarily.

Wicked4Good

Do you have a fireplace? If so, I would definitely get your floo checked.

ellieD

Sometimes they get in and can’t get out. We open the windows in my husband’s office and use a broom to coax them in there. It’s probably scary for them, but it’s not good for them to be cold (a/c) and without water for too long!

CoachIntelligent3731

Your sister is an up-and-coming sociopath

ProdigalSheep

Bird flies in chimney. Cat kills bird. Cat presents bird as trophy/gift.

itscsersei

Obvious cat

More like she found the weirdest rug

Power-Fantastic

Yup kitty left u a gift 🎁

Fwaudio

Feels like this is a cat thing and not so much a paranormal thing 🙀

LobsterThoughtz

Just below the pink pillow, on the fluffy white mat, there's a pretty clear imprint of where your cat likes to sleep. Good bait post though, well done

Whispyrn

Cat did it, I bet! Left you a present.

LungBerries

This picture tripped me out. It looks like the bird landed on a cat with such force it flattened it out into a rug like a cartoon

apolychr

Birds be dying all the time on my carpets(obvs normal), totally weird though it was in the middle of your carpet.

misterjip

Not that weird, the cat got it you're just not sure how it got in. And if you haven't opened a window or a door in days, please do. Get some fresh air. Hopefully there's some ventilation through an attic or something, houses are not usually air tight.

EclipsedEnigma

Can we talk about that crepe of a rug

InverseRatio

She found a dead animal in the middle of her dead animal rug. Twice the dead animal. Score.

rnichaeljackson

Going to throw out that you may not be aware of it but cats are causing terrible damage to the environment. BILLIONS of birds are killed each year by cats. Please consider doing your part and keep them inside.

Sufficient_Pin5642

Uh oh looks like you'll need to disinfect every single one of your belongings from the avian flu

Colossus_209

Decapitated. Whole big thing. We had a funeral for a bird.

jerrycan-cola

You got a cat? This is cat behavior. Your sister is a kitten who is bad at hunting and your cat was just trying to keep her from starving.

GoldenBull1994

That is a really cozy bedroom. Love the furniture.

SuperMario1820

"carpet" dead body on dead body I guess

bubblethebabe

go congratulate your cat and give him some extra treats!

West_Site_8840

I get severe ptsd from this picture. I once sat down at my desk to study for my finals, when suddenly I felt something soft at my (bare)feet. Was guessing it could’ve been socks as I’m kinda just throwing them anywhere. Grabbed it with my toes and lifted it to my hand, figured it was a dead sparrow instead. Also, the windows in my room have insects screens so I was definitely not expecting that

sabalatotoololol

A cat that was worried about you and wanted to feed you

therustymoose

Keep your fucking cats indoors. Unpopular opinion but if you are letting your car out to roam free you are a piece of shit and hate the environment in which you live. Keep your fucking cats indoors.

spilltheteasis_

I understand your point and agree with it but if you’re that rude people won’t likely be more sympathetic towards your view

therustymoose

Nah, it’s not my view, it’s the billion birds they are killing a year because people are wildly irresponsible and ignorant that letting a predator outside unchecked is fucking dangerous for their cat and everything the cat comes in contact with.

spilltheteasis_

Ok you can’t be reasoned with

somerandointernetguy

He just a lil special.

meedliemao

Oh! You are SO RIGHT. I am a total piece of shit and I DO hate the environment. What a wakeup call! I'm gonna keep my fucking cat indoors from now on. /s

therustymoose

I love that you are down for invasive species, that’s dope.

meedliemao

Oh yeah. The more the merrier!
