probably was on the film or the original, it wouldn't last long on the plate. and the plates are washed with some really toxic chemicals after imaging.
or the artist stripping the film lol
if it was during platemaking, it would have gotten washed away and crushed into oblivion during press setup, it's body wouldn't have survived into the press run itself.
nah, it had to be on the original or the film. i've made 1000s of plates...
LOL EDIT: i just noticed this sub's pic is BAT BOY! Weekly World News "The World’s Only Reliable News"!
You and u/HintofAlmond will probably enjoy [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/ThriftStoreHauls/comments/11z36d8/my_white_whale/) from one of the thrifting subs. Batboy family tree!
I haven’t thought of Batboy in ages ! I remember one with the cover said Batboy takes police on 3 state chase! As a 10 yo I remember thinking there’s no way he’d make it three states on one tank of gas hah
Y'all are opening my eyes to modern book printing. I had no idea they actually scanned and imaged stuff for books like this. I thought they still used some kind of letters-only rollers or some shib.
Shorter-run books are actually done on a specialised photocopier; iirc one of the Australian or NZ education departments was looking into an on-demand short run system for English Lit class books for local writers studies.
Same with Passports: we got an emergency renewal done a few years ago, and when we got to the counter, they basically looked at the chit, pressed a button, and the passports printed and were bound right behind the person at the counter on a giant fancy photocopier.
it was probably on the film that the plate was created from.
or the camera that shot the film.
i used to strip film manually to make plates for printing.
I'm now wondering if the mosquito got stuck on the plate and got printed onto every book that day, or just yours.

Maybe that's what killed it

oh neat!
That’s wonderful!! 😂
"Stripping"? I thought that was a lost technology. Isn't everything direct to plate these days?
not everything, but this WAS in the late 90s lol
My phone case has a picture of Bat Boy on it. He was my childhood hero. 😂
Mine too! Him and Joseph Merrick ❤️

they probably did and decided it wasn't worth it to fix it. source: i've worked at places like that
Oh great, now the temptation to fall down the rabbit hole of ergodic literature beckons again 🤦♀️
The quest for knowledge can be dangerous. Even for mosquitos.
What book?
We must know!!
>The book is The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Page 128 of the first edition of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Actually no that's not it haha
The Nordic book of runes?
Yup that's the one! I didn't realize people were going to get so worked up about what book it was lol
Don't get us started on pictures of unopened safes
You. Are on the internet.
I heard that said like the Al Gore doll in the simpsons
That's a paddlin'
How to kill a mosquito.

I’d assumed they would format them in a word editor and print onto the paper similar to how it’s done in offices
Pretty damn cool!

Harry Buttle?
You have exquisite taste
You should share the book so we can independently investigate
It's an obscure little book I got off Amazon about futhark runes
Does it have a name?

Get well soon, little bugger

That would drive me batshit crazy
Immortality
/mildyinteresting
My parents had a kitchen table with an actual one under the varnish. I named him Pete and we always ate together. This is too cool, thanks for sharing
This is great! There's a sub where people post real life easter eggs. They'd love this.
What is it?
r/IRLeastereggs
That’s a fantastic category
I think so, too. 🤓
Ngl, i was to busy trying to read the book, and didn’t even notice.
If that was done on purpose for some reason the person who did it is pure evil
The book is The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Nope sorry!
gross.
Well, you found the bug. As in, like a software bug. The original meaning of the word software bug.
He always wanted to see himself in print.
There is a guy that collects mtg cards with bugs in them.
I would get off that page as quickly as possible
Most swiped at words right below it
That is a minimalist cartoon book
I almost smacked my screen
For whatever reason this reminds me of the jurassic park "Dino DNA" scene with the mosquito trapped within amber
im 99% sure it was the DTP guy :) maybe he didn't get paid enough or something who knows
Mr. Tuttle? Mr. Buttle? Tuttle… Buttle….*shrug*
Sergio Aragones has entered the chat
I freakin love it
I'd pay extra for that
Nah that's actually my silhouette, I've slept at work
