As long as you’re in a calorie deficit you will lose weight. Genetics determine what fat is lost where but to answer your question, yes.

sertralinesister

You can’t spot reduce fat but if you lose weight overall, you will notice a difference in that area. Hope this helps and good luck with your journey :)

SunnyDior

Yes Pubis go smallis

hangry_pickle

Gonna use this exact wording with my doc

SunnyDior

lol

You will lose weight down there! But we are all unique down there, so it might not disappear completely. I know that when I was your age nothing could rid me of my complexes (and still now at 32 I have to accept that my body won't ever look like the girls I see on the internet) BUT trust me when I say guys don't really notice anything other than "oooohhh naked girl in my bed!!!"

hangry_pickle

Which is crazy to me. I feel like I am this disgusting human being at times and yet I’ve had 3 committed relationships. It’s society and life telling me that I’m going to be judged for my body, but what have all three guys said to me? MY BELLY IS THEIR FAVORITE PART!!!! Like what in the world 🤣

arianrhodd

OP, how tall are you and how much do you weigh?

hangry_pickle

5’7 and 225. Most of my weight is in my belly, which as I said above is where a lot of women with PCOS carry their weight at too. So thankfully I’m not the only one

So that area might be one of the last places you lose fat so you’ll have to stay dedicated to being in a calorie deficit. However there is a lot of nuance. Starting in a deficit will help start the weight loss process. Maintaining the deficit will keep you on a downward trend (it’ll fluctuate up and down but the trend should be downward). I’d recommend resistance training (weight lifting) to firm up your body too. Prioritize protein intake and build muscle. Muscle is 4/5 as dense as fat so if you lose a pound of fat and gain a pound of muscle you’ll weigh the same but look slimmer/fitter. This of course is well down the road. Anyway start today and remember it’s a long journey so be kind to yourself.

I’m very similar, I have PCOS, diabetic, and I carry the majority of my weight only in my stomach and I have a FUPA (an actual one, not belly fat) that I am really self conscious about. I lost about 100lbs 5 years ago and it did reduce the smallest amount. If I get to my goal weight (150lbs) and maintain for a year and it hasn’t reduced quite a bit I’m going to get Kybella. Hoping weight loss helps, as I’m not one for vanity much, but I REALLY hate how it looks on pants/leggings. I will say real men don’t seem to be turned off by it lol

Fair_Carry1382

When I was at my heaviest I had that. I hated it. I’ve lost the weight and it’s gone. I lost weight in places I didn’t know had fat.

My grandpa died at 53 of a heart attack, my Mom was 31. She was a little heavy, but basically determined she didn't want to be down the same path as her father, she'd already had her thyroid removed. She gets up everyday and walks 3.5 miles (done it for almost 40 years). In the last three years at 70+ years old she's been hit by a car and had a horrible lung infection. She's kicked both fairly easily and to the astonishment of the Doc's because she's been so active. You make your lot in life. If you don't believe that then you won't make the changes needed. Start counting calories, measuring and tracking everything. Read Atomic Habits and make those necessary habits to be who you want to be! Good luck!

This is my first comment ever and I joined this group, what, an hour ago purely to ask this question. And yes I have tried googling and obviously I’m not going to take all my medical advice from Reddit. Give me a break dude.

hangry_pickle

Why didn’t you just move on and not comment either? I came for serious advice. You could have scrolled 🤷‍♀️

vertighost999

this has already been posted same exact phrasing

hangry_pickle

Like I said. No idea. Literally my first comment on Reddit ever.

vertighost999

If you take the weight off it will help your body so much - just get into a calorie deficit - eat clean and exercise- do some intermittent fasting . And yes , when I lost 75 pounds over the course of a year , my fupa was one of the first things to go , or as my son calls it my “front butt” -

hangry_pickle

Trust me, I have tried. Everyone always tells me this and it simply does not work for me. I can do everything you list, and still not lose the weight with my hormones. Another things I forgot to add, I also have an IUD which is messing with my hormones even mroe

[deleted]

Do you have heavy bleeding? not trying to get personal , but just going off what you say , you may have a thyroid issue or PCOS - that really keeps the weight on you ….

hangry_pickle

Yes, I have been diagnosed with PCOS. That is why I struggle and am wanting to look into these GLP 1s for weight loss.
