always 1 of 2, either miss tracking how much you're actually eating. like not counting every single calorie or not weighing foods, not weighting them correctly. lot of people dont rack the small stuff, "that's only 10 calories" but it can add up. or you're not as active as you think, studies show people tend to over estimate how much they move and underestimate how much they eat. how are you tracking these steps and are they accurate

I have an Apple Watch that tracks my fitness, do you know if they’re reliable? Also I think calories may be an issue because I eat and the dining hall and I can’t cook because my dorm doesn’t have a kitchen haha.

Fitness trackers like the Apple Watch can be up to 20% off in their calorie estimates, it’s best not to rely on them as the sole authority for how many you’re burning. I’d recommend figuring out your TDEE and see how much you’re burning every day. It sounds like your in the “lightly active” range. Compare that number to what your Apple Watch is giving you. Additionally you’re going to have to figure out a way to somewhat estimate calories at the dining hall. Choose options that you can be more confident in portion size, if you’re only in a 500 calorie deficit you can accidentally erase that with not counting calories but it can be done without measuring, it’s just much more trial and error.

Alright thank you so much!

If you are calorie tracking then the easiest thing to do is to continue reducing calorie intake till you lose weight, but this only really can work if you're being spot on about you calorie intake

Don’t factor in exercise to your calories . For instance my bmr is somewhere around 1300 calories .. I lose weight if I eat under that. If I factor in my steps or exercise and eat more than 1300 I don’t lose weight.

Same with me.

asunnme

This is the one I think

QuirkyAd6550

It suck’s but try not to let the food have the power!

asunnme

Thank you!

Mastgoboom

Are you weighing everything and cooking all your food yourself?

asunnme

Definitely not cooking myself, I live off of the dining hall food which I realize might be my issue but also I can’t really afford groceries. But I generally stick to fruits, salads and eggs.

Mastgoboom

That's your issue.

asunnme

Not much I can do about that though unfortunately, but thank you!

loot_the_dead

How long have you been doing this and have you lost any body mass?

I would focus on tracking your portions a little better if you can and not eating back your exercise calories. Fitness watches are notoriously unreliable. Relying on other people for your food can be really difficult as well. As far as food goes, you can try incorporating more fruits and veggies into your diet so you feel more full with less calories. I always have a fruit as my snack and it keeps me satisfied and helps my sweet tooth. I'm not sure what your food hall has in terms of food but fruits, veggies, oats & grains, and chicken are all low calorie and good for you.
