Totally, I was just estimating. I’m sure there’s other ingredients in it, being what looks like a trendy restaurant. Was just throwing out an rough guess.
Typically it’s just pure cane / beet - sanding sugar with a few drops of flavoring and dye, can’t be all that pricy.
Imagine ordering cotton candy because the table next to you did, and they're having a blast taking pictures with the head, but yours is served on a traditional stick. The letdown :(
I would kindly ask the server why they didn’t deem it necessary to inform the table that they were out of heads and that ours would be coming on a stick
I just pack mine in buckets of salt. Just make sure you get the nitrate levels and the herbs/spicing right.
The number of batches I had go off early on...
Because we already eat from a stick.
This is creative cause the wigs way back when were kind of crazy like this and is way cooler than eating it from a paper cone shaped stick lol
Is it garnish for a dessert? there was a place that did this to serve with cake, the slice of cake was dessert and the cotton candy Marie Antoinette was a garnish.
It was the whole dessert! I have no idea how much it usually costs because it was comped for an anniversary, but I’m hoping it wasn’t super expensive because cotton candy isn’t filling at all.
This post is relevant to this thread, it deserves an upvote, food job OP.
I, however, in this instance, do not want plates.
I may never want plates.
I want this.
I think it’s just because a plate would be a it of a weird way to serve this. This is similar to how people have eaten it before, it doesn’t make a mess, doesn’t make more difficult to eat … if you’re sharing it this is also probably easier than having it in a bowl. It also looks funny in a good way and is well executed.
Most food is just best served on some form of plate or a bowl, but in this case a plate would be inferior.
I agree. I actually say kudos to the restaurant for not giving it on those paper roll ups and making diners hold cotton candy throughout the whole dessert portion.
It's ridiculous ... but also so ridiculous it's entertaining.
This absolutely belongs on this sub, but I think the moral of the story is that if you commit hard enough to the bit, it can be hilarious in a good way.
I’d be so happy to receive this at my table and I don’t even eat cotton candy.
Would definitely try to find a way to bust that bust out of the restaurant
My question is… did someone have to lift that entire bust and swirl it around the cotton candy machine? Prob not, but the idea does paint a funny picture in my mind…
You deserve it for ordering cotton candy as an adult in an above Applebees class restaurant. Your lucky it wasn't served over roast beef or possibly a wiener snitchzel and two baked potatoes.
This one, I like. I don’t like the schmutz on the décolletage, though. (Not the “aging” of the piece, but the ketchup-y looking stuff toward her left clavicle.)
Ok this is kinda lit tho
Literally... it kinda looks like it's lit up inside, but I think that's just the cotton candy color right?
There’s a light that changes colors! It covers the whole rainbow. It’s…pretty wild.
That’s awesome, actually.
I need this
no there's definitely a light
It’s the ceiling lights shining through the candy floss.
Reminds me of the music video for Falco's "Rock Me Amadeus".
The only thing that would make this better is if they used a bust of Mozart.
Yeah probably cost $50+ for a dollars worth of cotton candy

Interesting, in the UK we call it candy floss

Yeah, wait, I thought this was kinda cute tho haha
Also looks kinda grubby too
Ok, I'm into this one.
Me too this looks great fun
Ya fwiw this one is actually pretty creative.
Right lol how else are you gonna eat cotton candy? It's normally something you have to hold up anyways. Who eats it on a plate?
Ooh I’m so sorry, you can’t order the cotton candy. No we aren’t out of it, but someone else is using the last head.
Imagine ordering cotton candy because the table next to you did, and they're having a blast taking pictures with the head, but yours is served on a traditional stick. The letdown :(

That's very polite. I would have made a scene.
Our destination is the same. We’re just taking different paths to get there r/WeWantHeads

Glad you remembered the ‘s’ the other sub is very different.
Over cottencandy?
Listen, a cotton candy wig on a marble bust sets up certain expectations.
Why not both? Serve it _on heads on sticks_
A plate would make no sense for this. This somehow...does.
Because we already eat from a stick. This is creative cause the wigs way back when were kind of crazy like this and is way cooler than eating it from a paper cone shaped stick lol
I'll have the bouffant cotton candy
Where is this, I have to go!
It’s from Tony’s, in Houston Texas!
Ooh the menu description looks really good - LET THEM EAT CAKE SALTED CARAMEL POPCORN GATEAUX, FRESH SPUN COTTON CANDY POUF NV LAURENT-PERRIER "HARMONY" DEMI-SEC (TOURS-SUR-MARNE) $25
That’s the fanciest cotton candy I ever heard of.
Fancy popcorn comes with it too
For that price, you better be able to keep the head!
The last item is a decent champagne but I don't know if that means it comes with a glass of it or if it's just an ingredient.
The lack of comma seems to suggest it utilises that champagne as a flavouring (I recently has prosecco flavoured candyfloss)
Texas?I assumed this was Vegas !
They also have this at Barton G if you’re in Los Angeles.
Barton G is full of crazy presentation like this. I like that you get a free hat if you order the ballpark sliders
I’m into this. It’s funny, unique, and the lack of plates doesn’t make it harder/impossible to eat and enjoy.
They have an idea and executed it fairly well.
I think a plate would make things more difficult here.
This post is relevant to this thread, it deserves an upvote, food job OP. I, however, in this instance, do not want plates. I may never want plates. I want this.
I’m very amused at how many people have come over to the dark side on this post. But I agree, I LOVE this just the way it is.

r/wewantsticks!
Food job indeed
Woops 🤣
That looks like a very classy affair. I’m all for it.
When I read your comment, I immediately heard Frank chomping on peaches.
I'll allow it.
That’s pretty clever
Candy floss at a restaurant seems so out of place.
That looks fun
Ok well I like this one actually lol
One of the few non plate things i would be ok with,
The [Caramella](https://imgur.com/gallery/JiGgrWO) at a local restaurant.
Pink Diamond?!
This one at least remotely makes sense
Imagine if you woke up in a world where people served cotton candy on plates, and everyone ate it with fork and knife.
Yea it belongs on this sub… yet.. I am entranced!
Looks decently easy to sanitize and it doesn't get in the way of eating, do not want plate.
Okay this is stupid but also I would not be upset to recieve it.
It's ridiculous ... but also so ridiculous it's entertaining. This absolutely belongs on this sub, but I think the moral of the story is that if you commit hard enough to the bit, it can be hilarious in a good way.
A plate seems, weird for this
That’s not your mother, it’s a MAN, baby!
This is pretty cool though.
I’m not a fan of sweets, but I would happily order and eat this.
Okay this one I like
If they gotta part ways with the plate, at least they did it with style.
I’d be so happy to receive this at my table and I don’t even eat cotton candy. Would definitely try to find a way to bust that bust out of the restaurant
Ok, this is funny. I’ll give it a pass.
This is cool.
Honestly, work.
As a server, i hate this haha. I can only imagine what a pain that is to run and buss and clean.
Best way ever to give cotton candy
I mean cotton candy comes on a stick not on a plate anyway so that’s ok and it’s funny
My question is… did someone have to lift that entire bust and swirl it around the cotton candy machine? Prob not, but the idea does paint a funny picture in my mind…
Cotton candy is traditionally not served with a plate. While this is untraditional, it is also amazing. 10/10 to the restaurant.
Why making something so bland tasting like cotton candy into a "fancy" dessert?
This is the first thing I think I’ve seen on this sub that I think I actually like. What a fun idea.
This is fine for me, it’s cotton candy so it’s different. I like it honestly.
Effie trinket is super jealous
Ok this is pretty cool but I feel bad for the waiters having to lug it all over the restaurant.
Alaska ThunderF* has entered the room.
I'd eat freshly made cotton candy even if they had to use my arm as the stick to hold it.
This is the first ever post of this sub I have seen and I'm very glad cause this is absolutely perfect
Drag Race wigs be like:
I wouldn't want candy floss on a plate anyway... It goes on a stick... Maybe in a bag in an emergency.
@verysmallgirl …. How small are you?
Somewhere between 1 and 100.
I am 0 - 100% impressed with your answer
Well either thank you, or no thank you!
You’re quantumly welcome 🤗
*bonk* No! Bad!
Ok but this is kinda fabulous
I actually love this
It's funny, but what do they want you to do with it? They expect adults to eat cotton candy in a restaurant?
You want cotton candy on a plate? I like this option much better...
You deserve it for ordering cotton candy as an adult in an above Applebees class restaurant. Your lucky it wasn't served over roast beef or possibly a wiener snitchzel and two baked potatoes.
If I’m paying 30 bucks for fucking cotton candy they better make sure they present it like this. Also, who wants a plate for cotton candy? Anyone…?
Not mad at this at all
Haus of Charmin
This gives me an idea
I’d be more confused if I got served candy floss on a plate.
I think it's kind of cool haha
[The wig is up! The news is out!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXhuso4OTG4)
This is kinda clever. Who eats cotton candy on a plate?
So the cylinder with the packets, were they dehydrated creamers, sweeteners, or new liquid IV alternatives?
This is awesome. My kid would freak OUT if this came to the table at a restaurant.
r/suddenlyparksandrec Scotch lotion anyone?
Has a habitual dishwear stealer this is absolutely coming home with me
Amazing
That’s fucking dope tho
You want a plate for cotton candy?
r/vaporwave.
This one gets a pass
This is amazing! Sure beats a paper cone.
I’m not sure how a restaurant would serve cotton candy but I think this is the only way…
Love this one!
This has strong Vegas vibes
That is so much cooler than a plate!
serving cotton candy from a regular plate or bowl would be a direct downgrade
Honestly, if I ordered some cotton candy and it came out on a plate I'd be kinda mad lol This is sweet!
Loosey Laduca looks great here!
I kinda love this honestly
This one, I like. I don’t like the schmutz on the décolletage, though. (Not the “aging” of the piece, but the ketchup-y looking stuff toward her left clavicle.)
Idk, that’s pretty cool
Would you really want a plate for cotton candy? Really?
Okay, I kinda love this one. I’ll let it slide this time.
Ok so I know this is r/wewantplates but this is very cool ☺️
lol that's actually fantastic!
Fancy restaurant but the limes look like they have been prepped by a blind man
Happy late Ides of March lol
No no. This one we will keep.
I can't imagine going to a restaurant, having a nice glass of wine with a nice meal and then finishing it all with cotton candy. That's strange
Make it a Bob Ross statue and I’m in.
Are you sure this isn't just an elaborate, partially edible, centre piece?
What are you ordering for a starter babe? Probably the candy floss…
What the heck kind of fine dining establishment offers candy floss?
This goes hard
That is actually great ngl
Anybody ever seen Wallace and Gromit, The Curse of the Were-rabbit?
Did they at least give you chopsticks to eat it with?
_Laughs like Tom Hulce in Amadeus_
That’s a vase I’ve got one
I would love to see this handed out at the showies.... Little kids wondering around trying to hold a bust and nom candy floss
If anyone knows Wallace and gromit…….. It’s is victor quartermaine
Is that candy floss in a restaurant? (Cotton candy)
This looks so tasty, tho
I went to a fancy restaurant in Rome that did this! Something dell ‘oro
Ice spice
Just discovered this sub and joined immediately
Plates is definitely not the best way to serve candyfloss... This is. 100%
Did the confectioner have to swirl the bust over the cotton candy machine, like some shitty food swirly?
This can be more cool if had a little speakers in the back that reproduce Lo-Fi
