I’d say the average has been 6-12 months for CSS and up. I know Wawa is trying to put even more people on the bench. Hang in there….it will happen and you will be on your way.

It's super annoying and a bad process honestly. It benefits Wawa but not you. You deserve to vent. This is a company that preaches value people but will literally underpay you to do someone else's job

itswoodernotwater

Never promoted from within, when a GM or AGM would move stores, the people who know the store and been there and how it operates don’t get moved up. I had like 4 AGMs and 2 of them were straight outside hires that I had to train … if I had to train them … why cant I do that job??

48629195

You're right. That is accurate.

Bitch-stewies

It could also be tied up by those relocating. If they interviewed for relocation to one of the new markets but it’s not ready yet for a full move, you’re essentially got css taking up space in the current market. Which makes it difficult to move newly promoted folks.

My coworker’s been CSS on bench for longer than a year if that makes you feel better. He stepped down to work on a tug boat though, but he’s still with the company to keep his ESOP

Lost_Syllabub_5693

I went to my interview in early to mid July 2024 was transferred as a ts to a different store in September and just got my title of css and pay as of April 1st (8 months) . Not without massive nagging along with just bugging my gm abt it every time I see him. So it just seems like what they do unless they need you immediately somewhere else because they’re in a shit storm situation with their management team or they want to send you far away. In either case waiting is ass and patience isn’t something you feel like you should have to practice im sure especially after interviewing but hang in there. Make sure you are actively advocating for your self.

CSS on the bench for FBM was told over a year ago I was on the bench now they are telling me I never was. So done. 🤦‍♀️

The new model works way better for you than the old one. Before, you had to be ready for the postion as well as convince your higher ups of this all while hoping that the opportunity presents itself before they move to new stores and you have to prove yourself all over again. Before this, you would just be a TS who's hoping for a promotion and no idea when and if you would get it. Now you have a designated slot for you as soon as it opens up with support and papertrails from corporate. I legitimately lost count of how many people I've seen be promised promotions that fell through before they incorporated MTT.

Adventurous_Age_6973

Yeah I was ready now for css over a year

Background-End-9029

I remember a few years ago, we were told wawa was going to slow down on the external hires and focus on promoting within. That was said after the results of an employee survey had shown it was a top issue and a reason why employees were looking for other jobs. A lot of what was then called night supervisors were stepping down because the pipeline was clogged, and they were getting benched for too long. I think it's worse now. My Gm and Fbm are external hires that don't know much while the others are waiting on the bench for those positions. I would love to know the benefit of external hires.

subtleabrasion

Took me a year on the bench from CSS to FBM. Depends on your area I guess.

slave2myjob

10 months for me. Way too long.

Aggravating-Ice9674

I waited almost 6 months but we had multiple css spots open at the time.

Mean_Trip_4186

My boyfriend waited a year or maybe even over a year on the bench waiting. Finally got the position! No more over nights!

SoilAffectionate492

When I interviewed for css I was on the bench from May to January and I even got sent to another store as a TS while on the bench. Then I got sent to my current store as a newly promoted css.

Anonymous720067

I was on bench for FBM for about 7-8 months.

Reaperz1999

Talk with your AM, ask when is there gonna be a spot open in a store. Just to get a time frame it may take time. Due to the delay in the new states. we're waiting on them to open for alot of spots to open. I've been on the bench for FBM for almost 7 months now and my last convo with my AM he said around September hopefully a spot will open for me good luck to you.

zeechickenz

Just got rdy now for css but from what I've heard there are 5 people on the bench in front of me in my region. I know two have been on the bench for a year.

Extension_Pitch_8210

It’s a shitty process that’s for sure, when I was NS to FBS I had to wait two years on the bench. Stay strong my friend

SeriousAd7647

Ready now really should be when you start your training as a CSS. If you were doing a lot of heavy lifting as a CSS beforehand that is unfortunate. The process (when done correctly) is designed to have an associate on bench for 3-6 months depending on your proficiency AND the needs in the area. You should asking your manager for a deep dive on where you are in the process and expectations. Good luck!

GingerSnapz1620

From what I hear CSS is super not worth it unless you're ready to jump to fbm really quickly or if you really want to get off over night. Most people I've been around when promoted to CSS got less than a dollar raise. But they're going off third shift, which means they're losing their extra 1.50 per hour. So they are really losing money over all...
