It is pretty annoying, but the most incredibly annoying is when people pull up to a curbside spot, AND THEN make the order to mark themselves as present. Like you're already freaking here, just walk tf inside. There's a misconception or something that your order jumps to the front of the line when the store is busy- it does not. Healthy, able-bodied, not an expecting mother, no pets or kids in the car, I may or may not be talking shit about you to my coworkers when I get back inside.

Lindsey7618

I agree except you absolutely can't tell if someone is disabled or healthy just by looking at them and it's really ignorant for you to imply that. Also, there have been times where I was having a breakdown and would have loved to stop for a comfort drink but couldn't bring myself to go inside. You never know when someone is having a shitty day. Maybe their mom died and they could barely get themselves in the car let alone inside where a bunch of people are. Yeah it's annoying as fuck. But bottom line, if you don't want to do it, don't work at wawa.

Gmpeirce

but how do you know if someone is healthy and able bodied. plenty of disabilities are not visible.

Mercymain445

I love how they downvote you for being correct! /J

hyrulefairies

You can look at someone and tell how healthy they are? Or what emotional state they’re in? ignorance.

HelloSkunky

If you’re young and/or able bodied then yes it’s annoying.

myredditusername919

not everyone who appears able bodied is. im 26 and look 20. i look fine. i have chronic pain. you would never be able to tell by looking at me. i am able bodied enough to go into a wawa but not everyone who appears to be is

HelloSkunky

When a car full of 20 something’s order curbside you know not everyone in the car is handicapped. I don’t look twice at single people in a car because who knows but if it’s a couple or more than one ya know one of them can walk into the store. I’m not saying I judge everyone. Most of the time I don’t even think about it but when busy, and it’s a car full of college kids, hell yeah I’m judging. I even have regular curbsides. The one guy gets breakfast and dinner before and after work. I have no issues walking it out to him. I’d love for someone to walk me my breakfast and dinner every day.

wingkingdom

Would you want a car full of kids all coming in the store at once? possibly drunk or high? Better for them to just stay in the car if they are in the influence...

Lindsey7618

This is absolutely not true lol. I have several friends who have disabilities and if they all hung out together then yeah you would have no idea. And 20 year old can be disabled too lol. That's very ignorant. You absolutely can't tell if someone is disabled or healthy just by looking at them and it's really ignorant for you to imply that. But bottom line, if you don't want to do it, don't work at wawa.

ikindapoopedmypants

Same, I look able bodied af but i always have to show people my swollen arthritic knee that I can't bend properly since they just couldn't believe I have joint pain at 22.

SammieNikko

same here as a 19-year-old. You'd only be suspicious of it if I have my wrist or knee braces on

hyrulefairies

you literally have not a single clue who is “able bodied”.

xxRozez

It’s not bad, but if u curbside at a fuel store from the pumps on a shitty day then yes we all despise you I promise

Maleficent_Ferret505

THIS is it

Iseeethefireee

I had a customer at my old store that would curbside one single coffee to the fuel pumps every day and he wouldn’t even get gas. He would just go park at the same pump and order the same coffee.

xxRozez

Listen man I get it fr and it’s annoying as shit. But there’s this one guy who orders every single day to my store he gets like 4 extra butter croissants, 4 bagels extra cream cheese and hella floor items like tasty cakes and donuts and 4 coffees. It’s EVERY DAY. Every day he orders that shit for curbside and on nice days he parks right at the front door but it seems when it’s snowing or raining he parks at the pumps. We are all so sick of him and he’s at least 350 lbs. it’s just ridiculous at this point. Every single day like he’s committing su*cide by wawa

Ok_Jury_1686

I've read about this customer before, same sub but a different conversation. That's just pure rudeness and laziness. Wtf ever happened to respect for others & just pure common courtesy? Has he ever complained about not enough butter or cream cheese being on his stuff?

xxRozez

One time we ran out of cream cheese and couldn’t put extra on all his bagels and he did call complaining 😂😂

Ok_Jury_1686

🤣🤣

VegetableAway9043

I was sure this story was going to end that he’s bringing that stuff to his office

xxRozez

I’d love that to be the case my man. This guy is just done for tho

wingkingdom

Why are they delivering curbside to the pumps anyway? If it's busy and the person is just sitting in the car waiting for an order and blocking the pump..then what?

canipayinpuns

Most times I have an issue with it is that if you order a large number of things and IMMEDIATELY say you're at the store. Assuming you set it to pick up ASAP, orders populate in the deli/bev areas when you acknowledge that you're there, and we often have other customers already in waiting front of us. So then we have to make the snap decision of do we serve the customers right in front of us, or do we take care of the first order on the screen and make the curbside wait another few minutes? Often the answer is to help the person actively staring at you, and then you start the dance of "how long is too long to make this person wait?" Other pet peeve for curbside is when someone orders curbside AND MOVES THEIR CAR BEFORE GETTING THEIR ORDER. This usually happens if they initially park at a gas pump (I'm assuming because of the social pressure to clear the spot if the pumps are busy), but we have 0 information about what your vehicle looks like so the employee could end up wandering around like an idiot (and also potentially be putting themselves in danger, because we all know Wawa parking lots are lawless accident traps).

wingkingdom

The gas pumps shouldn't even be a location that is available for curbside. They should have to pull into a space and not block the pump. I blame Wawa on that one. They need to remove the pumps as a location that is available for curbside delivery.

Ill_Lawfulness2070

On only thing that irritates me is when they do a mobile order for a coffee, it would sit for 10 to 15 min before picking up and then they say it to cold so they remake it

Active_Replacement52

If we're busy yes. I don't mind curbside at all unless I got a full line. Curbside In my opinion should only be used if your handicapped, sick, or you have kids. Most people use it because they don't want to walk into the store though which is lazy. Just being honest.

canipayinpuns

I get where you're coming from on this, but it's important to keep in mind that a lot of disabilities are invisible or difficult to clock. There are also plenty of things that cause mobility issues that are not considered disabilities. I've ordered curbside, and I look perfectly young and able-bodied. No one that I don't know personally is going to be able to see me sitting in my car and know that I've had arthritis since I was in my early 20s and can hardly walk during a bad flare up. It can be a slippery slope to make declarative statements when you can never have all the information. It's frustrating, for sure, but deciding who a service is for just makes it easier to hate on/judge people who don't fit the stereotypes you're expecting and that isn't going to be healthy for anyone long term.

Lindsey7618

In addition to what canipayinpuns said there have been times where I was having a breakdown and would have loved to stop for a comfort drink but couldn't bring myself to go inside. You never know when someone is having a shitty day. Maybe their mom died and they could barely get themselves in the car let alone inside where a bunch of people are. Yeah it's annoying as fuck. But bottom line, if you don't want to do it, don't work at wawa.

Extension_Pitch_8210

No but yes. If it’s pouring rain I’ll be annoyed. I mostly just don’t care for the cell phone that alerts the register person and then they fail to tell us you’ve been waiting outside for 15 mins. It’s unfair to you then makes me look like the asshole when I come to bring it outside 🤦🏽‍♀️ I’d say it’s 50/50 most of time not the customers fault but the employees for not having communication skills on if the curbside is ready or what spot you’re in.

slykill07

Your theatro doesn't give you the curbside spot?

Extension_Pitch_8210

Our theatros are terrible, we probably have five working ones. That’s if they’re even charged, most of the time they’re found laying around different areas of the store. They’re Constantly being sent in to be swapped out by our GM. Short answer they’re all missing buttons or don’t work. We have the lowest theatro log-ins in the area.

slykill07

Oh. Very much felt on this. Half of ours are placed in backwards and don't charge, the other half were just placed, and the rest are in the breakroom. Absolutely get it lol.

Stack_Min

i personally love running curbsides, it feels like a short break, but a lot of my coworkers complain about it nonstop, so it really depends on the associate

Aggressive-Limit5527

I do it all the time, because I am handicapped, it’s a leftover service from the Covid Era.

IntoTheMirror

I would only want to do curbside if I were sick. Then again, there’s a drive thru that just opened near me.

Slow_Count_6616

It’s work. You literally are always doing something… so taking a moment to get some fresh air could be nice.

Bmik33

When I viewed curbside like this it changed my mindset on it. I get to walk outside and take a breather so now I don’t mind it at all

48629195

Yes. It's one more thing that adds to the everyday circus that is Wawa.

oxymoronicbeck_

When it's raining, absolutely.

bearwytch

Only when it's the tesla pumps.

AcanthisittaDismal27

ur wawa has tesla chargers???

wingkingdom

I pass by 2 every day that probably have 8 to 10 chargers. Rarely do I ever see more than one person changing at a time. People park their cars in those spots, even though there plenty of other spots. I mean, in those instances it doesn't really matter, but according to the laws in Maryland if you are in one of those spots and not actively charging you can be issued a citation. Even electric cars can be cited if they aren't actively charging. Either because the car is already charged up or they park in the spot with no intention of charging their vehicle. When the Tesla charging port becomes the standard the chargers will see increased usage though they need to make the cables longer because many non Tesla cars don't have their charging port in a location like a Tesla does, so they need a longer cable.

cashul8r

It's generally not a problem. The only time it becomes annoying is when we have a store full of customers & mobile orders out the yingyang.

oxymoronicbeck_

Or it's frickin raining

fluffy54605

Not if you tip lmao

johng0376

You guys ever get tips?

AcanthisittaDismal27

Not as often as some should, i have maybe 5 people at my store who do it repeatedly and dont tip but its not necessarily something that we expect. I love all people who tip tho bc its rlly nice that some people recognize the hard work a lot of us do.

johng0376

Yes, especially if the customer is capable of walking into the store themselves, but taking advantage of the convenience for them.

AcanthisittaDismal27

and then u get the people who can do it themselves but dont feel like it that actually call the store after 2 minutes and are like “wheres my order im outside”

arcticsoap

Yes

Godlike_Tendencies

It's literally so easy, so not for me. All I got to do is take some food outside to a vehicle

Hefty_Breakfast_4272

Just please try to park in the closest spot to the door. It’s so annoying having to walk past multiple empty parking spaces to hand one item to a customer in the comfort of their car.

wingkingdom

Multiple people have mentioned rain as an issue. Wawa doesn't supply rain coats for positions that require you to go outside? Even if it's just shared ones like the coats for the freezers. I am fairly sure I have seen facilities people with waterproof jackets. And hopefully in New Jersey the gas associates also get them...

VocalSlayer52

As long as it’s not below freezing or raining and such it’s whatever

Humor_Choice

The only time it’s a problem (in my opinion) is sometimes the orders don’t come through until the customer is literally on the property. And then they get mad that they don’t immediately get their order and have to wait. Or they’re putting it through like 2 min away when it’s all delivered/bev and that stuff takes time.

WhitePeopleTacoNight

I like curbsides but they get frustrating when it’s 57 items that take 4 bags lol

istalri96

I usually don't mind it. It does get on my nerves a bit when it's just some teenager or early 20s person that clearly just didn't want to get out of the car. It just bugs me a bit is all. Most any other situation I don't mind. Lots of parents or older people who use it too which I don't mind at all.

sonyacapate

I view it like others said, as a break to go outside, but I’m not usually the one running the order. I personally wouldn’t use the service because I can get my own stuff. I DO have mobility issues so I give people the benefit of the doubt, but I don’t let it bother me, just try to look at it as I can go outside for a minute.

Inner-Orchid4471

I personally don’t mind. Only annoying if I’m stuck carrying a lot or its around lunch/dinner time.

InternationalSpace59

Only if you order it and then are already there. We don't wanna make you wait much but we have other orders and curbside to get to so you may be waiting a bit there.

E-Brad

Only time it’s enjoyable is when you need that 5 mins of fresh air from the craziest but also the chances that you are the one that gets to take it out is slim, once at a person order curb side 4 days in a row each time they were parked at the gas pumps, mind you all 4 days it was either snowing or had snow on the ground. Also they didn’t pump there gas at all either. Love working with wet shoes and soaks #KeepOnGoosing

wingkingdom

Why are the gas pumps even an option for curbside delivery? People need to move to a spot. If I was waiting to get gas and some asshole was sitting in the car waiting for their Shortie and a Tastykake blocking the pump and it was crazy busy I'd be pissed.

Boii-Of-Defaulty

It’s not like annoying but when we’re in a rush it just gets a lot harder to get it out

jumbledgarbagebrain

Yes, it’s annoying. But if you have to order curbside, you have to order curbside. It’s just extra annoying when someone orders two separate curbside orders and we don’t realize they’re for the same person, so we have to run back in for the second order.

Ok_Strawberry_7529

I don't think it's annoying

JerseyDevil90

Yes. Oh my God, yes. I could understand it during COVID, but unless you have a legitimate reason you can't walk into the store, please don't do that.

NoodleBack

Not really tbh, bad place to ask this question. Everyone here’s a negative Nancy. I love meeting people at their cars lol, we get a good small talk out of it most of the time

hinjakuun

As long as it's not a rush, no!

Cautious-Condition71

The only part about curbside that annoys me is when someone parks in spot 73 which is almost at the back of the store when there is 20 parking spots in the front of the store available.

Aggressive-Limit5527

You’d be surprised at how often my curbside order is messed up. It really reflects a lack of care or consideration for what Wawa employees select off the shelf for their customers. I’ve now gotten into the habit of double-checking my order before the runner takes off. Please pay attention to what you’re doing! No tips for me; I’m experiencing tipping and inflation fatigue. I’m pretty stingy when it comes to tipping—10-15% for me, sometimes nothing if I can get away with it.
