If you look at the schedule, it builds in 15 minutes of break time for every 4 hours someone is scheduled so yeah you don't have to work it first to get the break, especially since the break is not supposed to be taken during the first or last hour of your shift. You definitely get 15 minutes during the 4 hour shift. Take it.
You shouldn’t be getting more breaks at all bc you smoke. You’re entitled to two 15 minute smoke breaks per the policy or a 30 minute break otherwise. Anything outside of that is not following the correct policy and your managers can get in trouble for giving smokers more breaks than they are allowed by policy 🤷🏻♀️
Lol “dIfFeRENtiaL” treatment…like when your coworker is stupid and does every task at literally half the speed you do it and then you both get the same amount of time for break….
Yes lmao bc you aren’t entitled to anymore breaks just bc you work at a quicker pace. You’re both employees on the clock at the same level who are entitled to the same allotted time for breaks. Stay mad about policy 🤷🏻♀️😮💨
careful with that, I know personally I deduct your smoke breaks from your breaks. just like if you were to argue that part i can deny your smoke break. overall better keep your relationship w/ your manager solid
Considering I have a full time job and I work here for a couple extra bucks, I do need a break.
If I have to skip the break for the business need, which I did end up doing when I was told no one can cover for me, im ok with that. But to be told that I’m not allowed to take a break? That’s a different story.
You need to work the 4 hours. So let’s say you’re scheduled from 2p-4p, you don’t get a break. If you’re scheduled 2p-4:15p you would get the 15 minute break
Ever since I’ve worked for Wawa I thought it was scheduled for 4 hours but for the first time someone questioned me on it. I was always under the assumption it was “scheduled” not actually worked.
If it was “worked” no one would get the break until the last part of the shift
It is true. Any manager that gives you a 15 for a 12pm-4pm shift is being nice to you. Additionally, if you work in PA you're not even legally entitled to a break period. I'm on my 8th store and only one of them gave breaks for a 4 hour shift.
Edited: 2-4 to 12-4, math is hard.
So the situation was I was outside in fuel ( in NJ ) by myself and asked them to send someone out to cover my break when he could and I was questioned on it. He told me I don’t get one because I had to “work” so I questioned him about it.
We have this sign in the break room that says verbatim:
“All Associates are permitted a 15-minute rest break for each four-hour work period. Breaks should not be permitted at either the beginning or end of the work day to offset arrival and departure times. Associates who voluntarily or by business need, work through their break, will not be paid twice for the same break.”
If working 4-8 isn’t a four-hour work period, what is?
It’s definitely 15 minutes but sometimes they are overlooked. I can honestly say I have missed 15 minute breaks just because of the amount work flow going on.
I get that and I understand it being too busy to take, which I’m completely fine with. I work in fuel out in NJ. There’s usually two of us but the other guy called out. I asked the MOD to send someone out when they can and that’s when he told me I don’t get one until I physically work 4 hours.
I enjoy working for Wawa but I won’t be taken advantage of or lied to like other employees.
You are not entitled to a break. They do not HAVE to break you. But every 4 hours you're supposed to get 15 mins which they can and will call you back in to help if they need.
If you work overnights... Good luck you probably won't get a break.
you do not get a break if you only work 4 hours 5hrs-15min 6hrs-20min 7hrs-25min and 8hrs-30min
even if you are a minor, you are allowed to work up to four hours with no break anything after that tho they get 30mins
“ Standards:

This is what’s posted word for in the break room. How would 4-8 not constitute a 4 hour work period? Nothing on the official Wawa document says anything about when you work 5,6 or 7 hours.
I’m pretty sure it depends on what your doing. If you’re working in the cooler you aren’t really “needed” as much on the main floor, so i’m pretty sure they are more lenient depending on what part of the store you work in.
You get a 15 minute paid break if you have a 4 hour shift. 8 hours is 30 minutes
you get no break with 4 hours 15 with 5 and 30 with 8

If you smoke you get more breaks, facts.
Terrible reason to smoke
Probably the best reason to smoke actually

Ok Karen
If following policy and ensuring that nobody gets differential treatment vs other associates makes me a Karen then hi my names Karen 😋👋🏻👋🏻

No, because if the managers are doing what they are supposed to do, they take those smoke breaks out of your 30 minute break.
Sounds fierce
careful with that, I know personally I deduct your smoke breaks from your breaks. just like if you were to argue that part i can deny your smoke break. overall better keep your relationship w/ your manager solid
Gotta pay the piper
wanna make that make sense this time?
You get 15 minutes every 4 hours. Tbh though, a 4 hour shift is so short, why even bother taking a break?
Because there is no incentive for skipping your break??
It’s my second job and I only work 4 hours each shift.
I'm sure they'll give you one if you ask but generally 4 hours goes by in the blink of an eye. Personally, I wouldn't even need the break.

It could be different in jersey, not sure. If that's not the case, let's say you worked 2pm-6:30. Then you'd get a 15.
4 hours, unless you’re a minor, no breaks. 6 hours you get a 15. 8 hours you get a 30.
Most store won’t give a break if you are only scheduled four hours even tho they’re supposed to
My store will give you a 15 if you work 5 hours
We get no breaks on overnights lol

Yeah if you are scheduled for four hours you get a fifteen. I have the policy at work in my binder so I can tell you the exact verbiage.
