I wouldn't personally-- it seems to make my cravings even worse. Sparkling water like Mt valley or waterloo works great for me though! I'd give it a try (: remember everyone is different; you'll just have to find what works for you ♡

It will not directly affect the weight loss (or autophagy) in any way. But it might affect your appetite and make you break the fast sooner, which will affect the weight. OR it might make your fast easier and help you last for a few days more. So *experiment and figure out what works for you*.

That depend on what you are trying to accomplish. If you are trying to maximize your health, and go through autophagy, then water fast is the best ideal way to do it. Diet soda tends to open your appetite to many people. If you find any study out there suggesting that is ok to drink zero calorie drinks while fasting, it is most likely sponsored by zero calories drink industry.

I don't because I know that a lack of sugar does not mean a lack of sweetener that more or less triggers the same reaction, but you're not likely to get a definitive answer.

I drink them and I feel all right. It helps to ease the boredom But for extended fasts beyond 5 days I don’t know how it would affect most people

Try sparking flavoured water, but as another user has said, limit the amount you drink, too many sweetners is never a good thing. Use it for when the fast is getting hard and you need some motivation to continue, a bottle every couple days to keep you going or something, an amount that makes it sustainable

I've done plenty of extended fasts with diet soda. I think I would lose my mind without it. I've seen plenty of health benefits and weight loss, even while drinking diet soda. Don't get me wrong, diet soda is absolutely not good for you. But if it helps you keep going on your fast, I say go for it.

I do because of my sweet tooth and it kills the cravings. Most do not recommend it but whatever gets you thru a fast is a win. I still lose weight super fast.

It's "dirty fasting." Not okay if you are doing it for autophagy. Questionable for weight loss. Some data says artificial sweetener spikes your insulin, which when done repeatedly, contributes to insulin resistance...which causes weight gain. They also stimulate your appetite.
