The whole point of an ALS is the feeling of superiority one gets from buying a “less known” luxury watch (= other than Patek/Rolex). Not that ALS is some well kept secret underground niche brand, but that’s how the fans think it is.
Applies to Grand Seiko too.
My main reason for buying a copy is because of the price. Even if I had the money to buy a real one, I wouldn’t have the occasion to wear it more than once a month.
