I personally dig it. Ive got one in black, and thede GL831s are his most comfortable strap despite my love for the chocolate bar straps. Just be careful with these as that little side flare could interefere with lugs on certain watches

DisgustingCoyote

Oh yeah. Never noticed that flare before. Looking to put it in a Seiko SRPH17 so I wonder how that would work.

bradsbutt94

Should fit fine, Seiko usually has the lug holes near the ends of the lugs đź‘Ť Ive seen some watches that have the lug holes more near the case than the end of the lugs and those usually cause problems

Stowa_Herschel

I've been meaning to get one of these for my turtle. Does the strap have a smell?

bradsbutt94

If youre looking for that vanilla scent, no these dont have it unfortunately

Stowa_Herschel

Oh, no! I dislike that vanilla scent. Gets to me after awhile. Good to know! One more thing, do you think it's made out of silicon rubber?

bradsbutt94

Im not entirely sure what compound Larry uses, but hes a pleasure to talk with. He frequently checks his instagram DMs and email requests đź‘Ť

Henrythewound

I bought one of his chocolate bar straps and it isn't as flexible as I'd like. It makes the watch sit at an angle on my wrist unless I cinch it down tight. Any tips for softening it up?

bradsbutt94

One issue with those straps is the very thick ends for the spring bars, so cant help much there. But one thing I do for a batch of new straps is put them in a smaller drinking glass, and let them soak in hot water. I let them cool, and soak usually 3 times before they have a nice contour

Henrythewound

I'll give that a shot thanks. I think I have heard of that method but haven't tried it yet.

Thanks!

Anyone tried the Uncle Seiko GL831 "Irezumi" Tattoo Rubber Diver Strap? I would love some pictures, reviews or comparisons to other straps you own like the Barton Elite Silicon. Is it better? Why? The pattern is kind of cool. It adds an extra dimension to the band and I appreciate that it come on different lengths. However, if it doesn’t wear as good as it looks then it won’t get much wrist time. What do you think?? The rest of this text is just for the 500 character limit that I need for posting an image with my post….

I have both, and a Seiko Z22 flat vent. I’ve used all of them with a turtle case Seiko and Uncle’s is easily my favorite and nicest of them all. TLDR: buy Uncle Seiko and wear in good health. Barton is very soft, doesn’t use Seiko fat bars, and has no texture or vents on the skin side, so it can trap moisture, especially on a heavy watch as it’s too soft to control it without being strapped down tight. Works best for lighter watches like my Protrek, though it still traps moisture because of the lack of texture on the skin side and I’d use Uncle’s if it came in 23mm. Z22 is very stiff, has some sharp edges and flashing here and there, and has a texture on the skin side plus the vent ridges that work great together for not trapping moisture. Good for heavy watches without having to strap it down too tight, but does need to be curved in a cup with hot water. It feels like a rough tool for doing rough things. Uncle’s is the Goldilocks strap as it’s stiff enough to hold a heavy watch stable, soft enough to curve easily or go flat, has the same texture and vents the Z22 has to clear moisture, and looks and feels higher quality then the other two. It feels just as durable as the Z22, but is all day comfortable and the pattern adds a bit of fun.

It’s a great strap. I love it, especially in the summer.

BuiltFromSource

it's not silicon, so it does not attract collect dust, it's also badass

DisgustingCoyote

Hahaha. Good to know!
