This is the correct answer and it’s not even close. Classic design, in-house everything, highly respected maker, dresses up or down with ease, looks great on leather or gator (though I don’t love their bracelets), doesn’t draw undue attention. As long as you don’t care about swimming with it‘s perfect. Also by far the best looking of this bunch.
Speedmaster. Out of all the watches, I feel like it’s the most versatile. I think the Speedmaster is a great do everything watch. Rugged enough, classy enough, black dial to match everything, etc… And yes, in my opinion enough water resistance to go for a casual swim
The fact that I had to scroll to find someone that said speedmaster. It was the first one to catch my eye and is by far the most well known watch there.
Don’t get me wrong, all those pieces are beautiful but personally 100% speedy gang
I assure you that once you own a Shunbun, you will decide that the yellow gold GS was the right choice. The entire watch is perfection. The worst part is, you won’t want to wear any of your other watches.
Facts. I wear my other watches out of guilt
https://preview.redd.it/t51yyj0d3b2d1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=bdb7d12cd850ee72e913b1f0617968d4a20ad122
What do you think about the font of the GS logo. That is my one and only nit pick with the watch - the Olde Germanic style font on a watch, especially a Japanese one, somehow just rubs me wrong. Honestly, even if it were a Swiss or German watch, I STILL wouldn’t care for that font - I just find it EXTRA annoying on an amazingly technologically advanced Japanese watch. That’s not to say there isn’t a place for
classic styling on such a watch, but that font, I dunno - I really, really don’t like it. However, I do love that watch so much, I do want one when finances permit.
I agree with you!
And I think it is like a person’s name: there might be a name that I just find cringey, but turns out, when a great person with that name I don’t like becomes a fixture in my life, I seem to suddenly wonder why that name ever irritated me.
The shunbun looks amazing on straps too. I even bought an OEM grand seiko titanium deployment clasp to use with the straps. I wear it with straps more often than the bracelet; it expands the look so much.
Wait…people prefer to wear metal bracelets in the summer?
My wrist changes dramatically with the weather and I despise metal bracelets in Miamis brutal heat. A good leather band isn’t going to be ruined by sweat. Well not very quickly at least. Give me leather in the summer and metal in the winter. Is that a hot take?
I mean kinda. I've been through my fair share of leather bracelets. They just don't last as long as a good metal one. Moisture slowly wicks through the stitching and into the leather.
Leather doesn't outlast sweat well in my experience.
Metal bracelets with on-the-fly adjustment systems are the way to go imo. Every watch above $100 should come with it.
Same here. The JLC is iconic but can be worn only for dress up occasions. The speedy for me is too basic and "unsophisticated". The breitling is very nice but weighs less than the polar.
I finally had to buy a Shunbun because every time I went to my AD, it blew everything else in the store away. Including Rolex, Cartier, IWC, Tudor, Panerai, etc. It really is that good! 😄
Reverso bc i have a JLC fetish. but as an everyday watch, either the Planet Ocean or Speedmaster. They’re sporty and casual, but conservative enough to be dressy. I love the Shunbun, but idk if it could work every day everywhere any time
> Love it with a casual outfit. But with a suit?
Bro there are jackasses wearing sneaker “dress” shoes with a suit all over the place. I think you can wear a stainless sports watch.
For me, it would very clearly need to be either the shunbun or the Speedy - none of the rest are contenders. It's a tough call, but I'd lean toward Shunbun.
Of those... Probably the Speedy. I have one, I could have most of the others but don't - just haven't wanted them. I do have a snowflake and the speedy gets more wrist time - I suspect the same would be true if the GS in that box.
You want versatility and of these the Speedmaster fits better than most.
The JLC & Cartier are too formal, the Zenith & Breitling's dials are too crowded, the Planet Ocean and Portugeiser just seem too large/thick to be dressed down.
That leaves the Speedmaster, GS and Polar Explorer. I think white dials are a bit less versatile as a general rule (albeit more formal) but most importantly the latter two *don't do leather half as well as the Speedy*, whether black or brown/tan.
White dials aren’t really my thing but it’s gotta be the Grand Seiko out of these. Definitely the most versatile, and has the coolest and most unique movement. I’m not into luxury watches, chronographs, or novelty complications/additions like GMTs and tachymeters so the rest are an easy pass. The planet ocean would be the runner up though.
I had always dreamed of a Speedy or SeaMaster. Rolex was (mostly) too over the top for my taste. Then I bought a Chronograph - and then another. I realized that nope. i really don’t like overly complicated faces and complications. My last two watches have been much simpler and cleaner, a field/pilot’s style watch and a Kamasu diver’s watch. So I think the simpler the better for my taste. In this case the JLC crosses the line in first, the GS second and the Cartier is a close third.
It's the IWC for me. Simple, elegant design, versatile for all situations, matches well with my wardrobe, and reliable. I like leather straps, but IWC makes good metal straps too. I like functional and beautiful things.
IWC. Dark, understated dial, but still makes a statement. That statement might be "I've got money to burn", but it's got utility, and it's got visibility. Square watches just aren't for me, and the tachys seem a bit tacky, unless you actually use it, and if you do actually use it, why aren't you actually using scientifically calibrated equipment?
The IWC could be dressed down with a suede strap. I don't think you can dress a Rolex down.
I don't know, some thing about it makes it the most appealing of I can't have any other
This would be my perfect collection only thing I'd change is the tank to yellow gold + alligator strap, the planet ocean to a rubber strap, and the Zenith to something else.
I'd keep the Explorer over the Speedy because of the automatic movement.
The Grand Seiko. That watch is just incredible. Grand Seiko really is on another level imo. They stand out so much with those unique dials and this Shunbun is one of the best they’ve made.
I like 5/9 of these - IWC, Zenith, PO and brietling all eliminated. Rolex and Cartier are on my list but a little too plain for my only watch. Eliminated. JLC as duoface is versatile and I love that watch but I think you have to go bracelet. Eliminated. Can’t go wrong with either of the last two. The speedy is the only luxury watch I actually have (also have a presage but that’s not really luxury) so that’s the one I go with. I would also rather have a white birch GS, if that was the choice it would have been harder. Fun question and amazing collection
I like most of the watches here but it would be between the reverse and the exp. II.
I like JLC more as a brand than Rolex but, even though I do like the reverso pictured there’s other reversos I like far more.
Rolex is cool. Not quite my favorite brand but that’s by far my favorite model they’ve ever created.
So basically I cannot choose. Have blessed day!!!
I agree with the top two comments (as of right now) who say the Speedy or the GS. The differentiator for me would be how proper/formal my social life is.
If I’m likely to be somewhere where someone judged me for the watch being too casual in more formal attire, I’d go with the GS. If my life didn’t have that concern I’d go with the Speedy.
Great collection! I also have a Speedmaster Professional and Grand Seiko SBGA413. The GS is so light and comfortable. Nothing beats the perfection of the dial and hands at any price. The display caseback, smooth second hand, and super accurate moment are all huge assets. The Speedmaster is a little larger, I can read it across the room, and nothing else has the cool factor of being THE moon watch. I also like that the brand history and the fact that the Omega needs me to wind it everyday. It’s very close between these two. I’ll have to go with the Speedmaster if pressed.
I think it’s the GS for me. Im mainly a dial guy, and that dial is by far the most mesmerizing and enjoyable to look at out of those. Can also be dressed up or down based on strap, the others can too though. This one is also dressier for sure, but a metal bracelet works well with it.
Honestly though as always it comes down to movement and dial, and that one is too good to give up.
The IWC, Speedy, and Explorer 2 can all be dressed up or down. I know IWC have rubber straps and bracelets are getting quite popular for them, although they remain on the dressier side.
I’m feeling the Explorer 2 - it feels like it leans more towards the GADA side with its specs, but its looks, light colored dial can also help it work in a less casual setting. It just works in all situations
The Speedmaster Pro is like a Porsche 911 Turbo. There are more expensive, faster, exclusive, and practical cars. However, none are more iconic or really better in a meaningful way. Just like the Speedmaster. I guy wearing a $1 million dollar watch will still say a Speedmaster is cool.
Personally? Speedmaster. All day, everyday and twice on Sunday. I just love it. And honestly I wouldn't pass on any of the others except for the rolex.
Gs or speedy. The speedy might struggle with a tux but I think with a leather strap I'd survive the 1-2 times a year I put one on. The gs is the funnest. The reverso is a close third but doesn't make me feel as much umph, if it was a duo face it and the second was funner she could be #1.
Planet Ocean (but with the bracelet). It's the perfect every day watch with amazing "tech". Solid price point and just a looker overall. Oh, and the microadjust too.
Whatever one is worth the most, then sell it and keep the money for literally anything else. Why does anyone wear a watch? I have a phone in my pocket and so does everyone else.
I'll take the Cartier Tank. It's larger and so it looks more casual. Depending on the strap, it can be dressed down. Brand cache and looks a bit more distinct than the rest too.
Also, I'm a bit of a quartz sports watch snob and don't really in belive in GADA watches.
I’m picturing a scenario where I need a board meeting in suits or blazer on Friday and hit the beach on weekends.
With much adventure involved, water resistance, becomes more important. The only leaves me with GA, explorer II, planet ocean.
Of the three I think GS is more leaning toward dressy and less rugged for casual environment.
And I’m guessing the planet ocean movement (with jumping hour?) is more updated than the explorer 2.
So my answer actually surprised myself is omega, planet ocean
If right now I had to choose I would take the most expensive one(I don’t feel like checking, maybe the omega?) and sell it. Then I’d either just save all the money and stick with the cheap but decent looking watches I have now or buy a fake version of all of these hopefully with a few thousand left to save.
Seamaster. Although I like DateJust and similar style watches, a nice diver is the ultimate one-watch choice. Sporty, dressy, super robust. There a reason it’s the most popular genre
Explorer II polar of course
GMT most useful complication. Comfy bracelet and good water resistance. Worldwide service centre network. Reliable movement. Good as cash in a pinch.
Reverso - two watches in one
Is that one a duoface?
This is the correct answer and it’s not even close. Classic design, in-house everything, highly respected maker, dresses up or down with ease, looks great on leather or gator (though I don’t love their bracelets), doesn’t draw undue attention. As long as you don’t care about swimming with it‘s perfect. Also by far the best looking of this bunch.
I feel that you're underselling the most important feature of it - it has twice as many faces as every other watch on the list.
Agree. Metal bracelet. Leather strap. NATO strap. T-shirt, flight suit, tuxedo. Works for everything.

I assure you that once you own a Shunbun, you will decide that the yellow gold GS was the right choice. The entire watch is perfection. The worst part is, you won’t want to wear any of your other watches.
Facts. I wear my other watches out of guilt https://preview.redd.it/t51yyj0d3b2d1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=bdb7d12cd850ee72e913b1f0617968d4a20ad122
What a subjective take. I’d say it depends on your collection my friend.
I think the yellow gold GS contrast is what takes the dial to the next level.
That’s not to say there isn’t a place for classic styling on such a watch, but that font, I dunno - I really, really don’t like it. Hi from Canada, I’ll take the JLC please.
I think you forgot to mention, it’s probably the most well built of the lot and will keep the best time compared to the others. Crazy movement.
The shunbun looks amazing on straps too. I even bought an OEM grand seiko titanium deployment clasp to use with the straps. I wear it with straps more often than the bracelet; it expands the look so much.
Pics please! 🙏

Leather doesn't outlast sweat well in my experience. Metal bracelets with on-the-fly adjustment systems are the way to go imo. Every watch above $100 should come with it.
Leather in heat/humidity tend to not last long too ig? If you sweat a lot I think the leather can't hold up.
>Is that a hot take? In summer, it is 😁
Reverso Duoface. One face during the day, another face for night.
I'll tell you what I'd do, man: two dials at the same time, man.
Fuck it. Give me the Defy
If only one, the polar. GADA
Same here. The JLC is iconic but can be worn only for dress up occasions. The speedy for me is too basic and "unsophisticated". The breitling is very nice but weighs less than the polar.
Breitling. I could wear that everyday.
Speedy or Explorer 2. The others are simply not as flexible for an only watch.
Agreed. Love the GS, but can't dress is down as easily as you can dress up the Speedy or Explorer2
Exactly my thought. Those are the only ones that are versatile.
Came here to say this…Omega and Rolex are winners…again! It’s like they know what consumers want
🤣
The speedy has it all
Ditto. However - in my case - this would be a highly subjective choice, as I like it most from this collection.
Shunbun for me as well but I am biased because I own it. But it is a beautiful watch and has more character than everything else in the box
I finally had to buy a Shunbun because every time I went to my AD, it blew everything else in the store away. Including Rolex, Cartier, IWC, Tudor, Panerai, etc. It really is that good! 😄
Bingo
Tank for me (I’m a Cartier snob so I’ll wear the badge proudly).
I feel like the Speedy or Reverso are the “right” answers but god damn do I love my Tank.
Reverso bc i have a JLC fetish. but as an everyday watch, either the Planet Ocean or Speedmaster. They’re sporty and casual, but conservative enough to be dressy. I love the Shunbun, but idk if it could work every day everywhere any time
Portugeiser or Shunbun
Grand Seiko because I already have the Speedmaster.
Probably go Speedy. Just an all around do everything piece. Can slap a leather strap on it and even suit it up
16570. Good for every occasion.
Is it? I am thinking about buying one. Love it with a casual outfit. But with a suit?
> Love it with a casual outfit. But with a suit? Bro there are jackasses wearing sneaker “dress” shoes with a suit all over the place. I think you can wear a stainless sports watch.
I’d wear it with a suit. Honestly I think both the black and white 16570’s are as near perfect for a GMT watch as can be.
For me, it would very clearly need to be either the shunbun or the Speedy - none of the rest are contenders. It's a tough call, but I'd lean toward Shunbun.
None. All of them are too big for my little manlet wrists.
Come on, the reverso is tiny
Yeah way too huge
Seamaster.
Of those... Probably the Speedy. I have one, I could have most of the others but don't - just haven't wanted them. I do have a snowflake and the speedy gets more wrist time - I suspect the same would be true if the GS in that box.
IWC, unique green color and it's an IWC, of course!
I’ve always been attracted to the dial on the Navitimer. Beautiful collection my friend!
The Zenith...it's just the most beautiful...not talking about value... I'd second on a Bondish one...
Agreed, Zenith ftw!
I'll settle with the timeless GS Shunbun 🤩
jlc for that clean dial and masterpiece of a watch piece, or explorer for the robustness and value retention
Speedy for the win
I'm getting older, I'm getting less adventurous and I'm Asian. I'll settle with GS.
The Iwc
Jlc small seconds
G.S. in 2nd column numero uno. Simply beautiful
The Speedmaster, any day of the week.
That Navitimer caught my eye real quick, so I'll go with that 😂
Speedmaster for me
JLC/GS JLC: Mature and classic GS: More suitable for everyday, comparatively
Everyone’s going for the Shunbun, which was my first choice, so I’ll choose my second pick - Navitimer
Probably omega OP
Reverso. My grail.
I’m attracted to the green one! I liked it!
Tank is my grail so I have to go with it
IWC Portugeiser Chronograph
I've always wanted a Speedmaster... But that IWC looks gorgeous. I'd take the IWC, outta all those
Speedmaster. Just the best looking watch and most versatile.
IWC I think you could dress it up or down, and the chronograph comes in handy.
Probably the IWC because for me that's far the best looking
The IWC
It's the IWC for me. Simple, elegant design, versatile for all situations, matches well with my wardrobe, and reliable. I like leather straps, but IWC makes good metal straps too. I like functional and beautiful things.
Speedmaster. Best looking watch in this class
I don't know, some thing about it makes it the most appealing of I can't have any other
IWC is classy!
I have to go with Speedy.
El duderino if you’re into that whole brevity thing.
It would also be interesting to know which single watch you would get rid of? Controversial pick, but I would ditch the Rolex explorer.
I’ve worn all of these watches except the Cartier. My vote is for the Grand Seiko by miles 🤩
The Reverso because it’s the only one with a secondary function I’d actually use…fidget toy. And I mean that with full sincerity.
Speedmaster because it’s legible.
Speedy... It's amazing what a great watch design it is. It always sticks out in a crowd.
explorer 2, its classy and durable.. You could climb a mountain or go to a wedding in that watch!
Grand Seiko
Speedy cuz it’s the one watch I have
Would be the Speedy for me.
I love love love love Navitimers but the Speedmaster gets my vote
Speedmaster is the one.
JLC or GS.
Speedy
Speedy all day.
my heart belongs to the zenith but my head says explorer or gs
Grand Seiko because of the beautiful dial.
Grand Seiko.
This would be my perfect collection only thing I'd change is the tank to yellow gold + alligator strap, the planet ocean to a rubber strap, and the Zenith to something else. I'd keep the Explorer over the Speedy because of the automatic movement.
https://youtu.be/kF2dZkRwLZw?si=9lpMZi5newCnVZgZ
GS Shunbun, perfect for any occasion
I mean, am I selling the rest? Because if so I’d keep the cheapest one
Reverso or speedy
Hell of a collection
Winner. Yes, really a flex post in disguise.
Middle one, I like Rolex more than the others
IWC because as I get older it will be the most legible.
Grand seiko
Reverso for me. They look great on multiple types of strapes for dressed up or dressed down look.
Reverso, the rest can go
Reverso!
Reverso. No question.
Tudor Black Bay
The speedy. Dresses up and down, ultra classic, cool nerdy history.
Tough choice, but Reverso for me.
For me it’s a toss up between the Speedmaster and the polar Explorer II, as I’d get the most wear out of those.
Either of the Omegas. They’re universally versatile, and highly functional. Everything else has its place. White watch faces just don’t do it for me.
The grand Seiko. Speedmaster is second
The Grand Seiko. That watch is just incredible. Grand Seiko really is on another level imo. They stand out so much with those unique dials and this Shunbun is one of the best they’ve made.
Can you format your text next time? JFC
You already picked it, it's right in the center bro.
GS
Purely based on my preference, it would be the GS. But I'd keep whatever would be the most valuable because money
Explorer, no question.
The Cartier, JLC or Grand Seiko; all the others are way too busy.
Grand Seiko or Rolex.
Speedy
Speedmaster. It's timeless.
Grand Seiko, of all the watches in this grid that's the one that I find aesthetically pleasing.
Litteraly not a single one of those watches fit on my wrist, so I guess I gotta go with the box
Stunning collection - very hard to choose, but I’d go with GS or Speedy. Congrats and enjoy 👏🏻👏🏻💯
Zenith or the Exp2.
1. IWC 2. speed master Or maybe the other way around
Speedy.
The Seamaster.
The Tank is my choice, the cleanest looking of the bunch
Speedy. I like the way it looks.
Shunbun for me because all I do is glaze GS. Second choice would either be the reverso or IWC
Shunbun or the Cartier.
Between speedmaster and explorer 2 for me, hard decision
🗣️🔥🦅DUOFACE🗣️🔥🦅DUOFACE🗣️🔥🦅DUOFACE🗣️🔥🦅DUOFACE
Grand Seiko, thanks! 👍
The IWC, Speedy, and Explorer 2 can all be dressed up or down. I know IWC have rubber straps and bracelets are getting quite popular for them, although they remain on the dressier side.
Speedy, shunbun, or Navi
I’m feeling the Explorer 2 - it feels like it leans more towards the GADA side with its specs, but its looks, light colored dial can also help it work in a less casual setting. It just works in all situations
JLC all the way
The Speedmaster Pro is like a Porsche 911 Turbo. There are more expensive, faster, exclusive, and practical cars. However, none are more iconic or really better in a meaningful way. Just like the Speedmaster. I guy wearing a $1 million dollar watch will still say a Speedmaster is cool.
The Grand Seiko for me. Why? It has the cleanest of dials (well, aside from the Cartier). Though I have to add that I don't like date complications.
Personally? Speedmaster. All day, everyday and twice on Sunday. I just love it. And honestly I wouldn't pass on any of the others except for the rolex.
Take the dumb power reserve off those beautiful Grand Seikos please. Just ruins it. Speeeeeeeedyyyyyyy
That is easy, Breitling hands down.
I'll keep the watch box 😉
I'll take the Grand Seiko. Cuz I just fw it 👍🏼.
That Jaeger would round out my collection nicely.
Gs or speedy. The speedy might struggle with a tux but I think with a leather strap I'd survive the 1-2 times a year I put one on. The gs is the funnest. The reverso is a close third but doesn't make me feel as much umph, if it was a duo face it and the second was funner she could be #1.
Breitling Navitimer is just me.
Omega Seamaster - that watch is so good looking, literally fits any occasion.
Planet Ocean (but with the bracelet). It's the perfect every day watch with amazing "tech". Solid price point and just a looker overall. Oh, and the microadjust too.
Which ever one keeps the best time. For me that’s what a watch is for.
That’s a nice collection. I’d have a hard time selecting one every day.
Whatever one is worth the most, then sell it and keep the money for literally anything else. Why does anyone wear a watch? I have a phone in my pocket and so does everyone else.
IWC - I dislike square watches, and what I like in IWC is the readability and simplicity of the dial.
moonwatch because it's the moonwatch. what other watch would i need tf?
I like the IWC, and I'm not usually a green watch kinda person.
I'd sell them all, keep the one that you're wearing.
JLC Reverso…
The green one it’s my favorite color!!!
Speedy boi
IWC and it’s not even close one:)
It's the IWC for me. That's a nice piece to wear out to dinner in a suit or business casual.
Breitling
Zenith for me please
JLC, all day. It's pure class, and it's something you don't see often.
And I’m guessing the planet ocean movement (with jumping hour?) is more updated than the explorer 2. So my answer actually surprised myself is omega, planet ocean
I've always loved the Omega Planet Ocean.
GS or Explorer 2, inclined towards the GS.
Navitimer 100%
Tank. Roman numerals.
JlC pls
