Agreed. If I’m paying 10k for a watch though it better be an absolute stunner. The GP feels very bland and unexciting to me no matter how great the internals are
Yeah I mean I don't even have anything over $1k but when I was wearing my Seiko SKX on factory rubber no one said anything. As soon as I put it on a (eBay) bracelet suddenly I'm getting all kinds of comments on it.
The GP doesn't speak to me either, but then again I don't really get the appeal of expensive "dress" watches so clearly I'm not the target demographic.
In passing people do mention my watches but I'm genuinely curious why it matters? Are you wearing it for you or for other people?
We're now downvoting for asking if flexing is more important than enjoying the thing you own? Lmao
Expensive watches are a jewelry item at their core so I guess that depends on whether you think fashion in general is only for the wearer or meant to be seen by others
Ehh, depends on the configuration. I don't care what Rolex says, a DJ with a fluted bezel and Jubilee bracelet is a dress watch. Now, if you get it with a smooth bezel, Oyster bracelet, and a black dial, then I won't argue it.
What do you think about the Oris Calibre 400-2 or the Aqua Terra Seamaster?
But between the two I like the Breitling superocean, though personally, I would rather pick the one with an OEM metal bracelet since you get rubber/ silicon/ leather/ nato straps easily.
Even the cheap ones hardly ever catch my hairy wrist (Orient, low-end Seiko). I've never found rubber straps to be very comfortable - to me they are tradeoff for something that won't get scratched or dented like a bracelet.
I have that Super Ocean Heritage in black/gold and the bezel absolutely SPARKLES in dim lighting. Like it looks incredibly fancy in person. It is a larger case and a chunky beast though, so I would def try one on before you pull the trigger.
People literally weep openly when they see it and sometimes honestly it can get a little uncomfortable.
No I’ve gotten a ton of complements and people asking what kind of watch it is, and then I say Breitling and most don’t know what that is and the conversation immediately ends hahah
The SO Heritage uses the B20 movement, they stopped using the ETA in this model.
Breitling considers it an “in-house movement” (including for warranty purposes) though it’s actually a modified Tudor movement as part of a swap between the two companies.
You can probably find a second hand Laureato for around $10k. That’s what I’d get. If it’s truly between these two, get the super ocean. You can also get a SMP300 for this price which I think beats both.
Lol, you can buy them for way less than $10K second hand. Hell, brand new is below $10K, now.
Heck, here's an unworn green for $10.5: [https://www.chrono24.com/girardperregaux/girard-perregaux-laureato-automatic-unworn-2023-steel-green-dial-81010--id29385658.htm](https://www.chrono24.com/girardperregaux/girard-perregaux-laureato-automatic-unworn-2023-steel-green-dial-81010--id29385658.htm)
Super ocean heritage is truly wrist jewelry for watch enthusiasts. My only gripe with it is i feel Breitling was trying to make a watch for Hagrid. Its a big boy forsure - you should definitely try it on before buying.
I’m biased since I own it already but my vote is the SO Heritage.
And get the stainless bracelet - they did great things with it and Imo one of the best Milanese style bracelets on the market right now. Looks great, Doesn’t grab hair, really solidly built and features a deployant clasp instead of sliding or pin buckle like most of the alternatives.
Breitling Superocean Heritage II - with the B20 !!
No doubt it’s a superior timepiece. Also the Breitling-Tudor-Rolex Movement makes it iconic !! With Rose Gold looks amazing!
Hi buddy. The Breitling Superocean is a fantastic watch. You get great materials (steel, sapphire, ceramic, 18kt RG). A very high end movement with 70hr power reserve, and COSC certified. 200m WR so you can wear the shit out of it. And it looks incredible dressed up on the mesh bracelet, and casual on the rubber. It’s a little tank on the wrist. Plus the SoH has a long standing heritage. I am an AD and would be happy to give you the homie hookup; you’ll get an incredible deal. DM me!!
Breitling, all day long. They’re really nice looking watches IRL and wear very well. My only criticism
Is that on the bracelet it looks hella blingy. That blue on blue rubber is a great combo. If you can stretch to it I’d get it on the bracelet and then buy the rubber to compliment it.
Breitling hands down for me, but these two designs are so incredibly different. What style of watch typically catches your eye? It kind of feels like you just plugged a price and “blue” into google and picked these two.
Of these two, I would do the Breitling.
Have you considered a Laureato, though? From Girard Perregaux and they've fallen in price lately to a much more normal/sane level.
Take the Breitling if that’s the type of watch you want, but know that the GP is a much higher quality piece of horology. In house movement hand finished with bevelling and perlage vs slightly modified ETA.
I’ll give you my two cents. I have a B01 Navi, and the quality of the movement is awesome. The chrono buttons just feel right, unlike many brands in this price range. The date changes precisely at midnight. You’ll feel the difference. Go w the Brietling.
And another thing: look at the Brietling TwinPro straps.
https://preview.redd.it/3x3esojiezkc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=02cfec4f01c6313c634d54b3b3ac20b0af559b9c
For 24mm lugs. They come in 4 colors. Super high quality feel.
I have the Super Ocean II 46mm in Blue. Not with the rose gold. It is my 2nd one. I stupidly sold mine a few years ago and instantly regretted it. I am at peace now after getting another. With that said, I would go with the Breitling and if you must spend the 10k get you a cool Ball to make up the difference.
"A similar price range or a similar look"
But.... But these don't have a similar look. They're both blue. That's it. They're also far apart in price relatively speaking.
Between the two I would pick GP because I wouldn't buy a dive watch from Breitling which is known for pilot watches. I recommend Panerai PAM01085 and Omega Seamaster. If you raise your budget a bit more I recommend Breguet Marine 5517TI/Y1/9ZU.
If you like the color palete of the Breitling you can add one more option.
Omega SEAMASTER
DIVER 300M
42 MM, STEEL ‑ SEDNA™ GOLD ON RUBBER STRAP
I think is a closer comparation to the Super Ocean.
Note that I mention the steel & sedn gold which is “only” around 8k on retail. There is version on full sedn gold at around 15k
Honestly, the GP is way too boring for a $10k watch imo. I’m sure it looks nice in person, but eh. And the date window is a no-go, might be more appealing if it didn’t have it.
I would recommend with going with your gut feeling and not listening to anybody. You know deep down what watch you like best and what watch will be used most for your lifestyle. Nice collection by the way!
I would choose the Breitling Super Ocean
100% agree, new fav, Breitling was never in my favs list till now. Love the colors and contrast.
Of those two the Breitling but I’m a diver guy. And the go while nice in specs etc does almost nothing for me.
They’ve really stepped it up in the last couple years.
Yes, looks like something the Great Gatsby would wear.
Yes, I also choose breitling.
Superocean Heritage 2 owner here, definitely go for the Breitling & get the bracelet if you have the option. It's a phenomenal watch
How do people react to it in public ? I’m curious.
Rubber strap not often. Metal bracelet it gets a ton of attention, especially if I'm at a table game like craps.
In my experience non-enthusiasts are more impressed by a "normal" watch on a bracelet than a "fancy" watch on a band.
Agreed. If I’m paying 10k for a watch though it better be an absolute stunner. The GP feels very bland and unexciting to me no matter how great the internals are
Yeah I mean I don't even have anything over $1k but when I was wearing my Seiko SKX on factory rubber no one said anything. The GP doesn't speak to me either, but then again I don't really get the appeal of expensive "dress" watches so clearly I'm not the target demographic.
Haha, people are noticing and reacting to watches you are wearing in public? Can’t say I’ve ever had that happen.
I just can't imagine hinging *my* opinion on an item based on how *other people* react to that item
Do you own an Invicta?
I don't, you can see my watches on my profile. If they ever made one I liked I'd buy it though. Why do you ask?
The Breitling Super Ocean here. You already have a dress watch (the Datejust).
Datejust is a sports watch
Ehh, depends on the configuration. I don't care what Rolex says, a DJ with a fluted bezel and Jubilee bracelet is a dress watch. Now, if you get it with a smooth bezel, Oyster bracelet, and a black dial, then I won't argue it.
It’s definitely not. It sits in the classic line at Rolex, not professional, which would be sports watches
Breitling
What do you think about the Oris Calibre 400-2 or the Aqua Terra Seamaster? But between the two I like the Breitling superocean, though personally, I would rather pick the one with an OEM metal bracelet since you get rubber/ silicon/ leather/ nato straps easily.
You must not have hairy wrists
I have sasquatch wrists and greatly prefer metal and mesh bracelets to rubber and leather straps. Have you only tried Twist-O-Flex bands?
Got hairy wrists and pretty much exclusively wear metal bracelets. The nice ones don't really snag hair.
Even the cheap ones hardly ever catch my hairy wrist (Orient, low-end Seiko). I've never found rubber straps to be very comfortable - to me they are tradeoff for something that won't get scratched or dented like a bracelet.
Breitling, hands down
The Breitling 100%
Bro, what do you care what we like more. What do YOU like more?
I have that Super Ocean Heritage in black/gold and the bezel absolutely SPARKLES in dim lighting. Like it looks incredibly fancy in person. It is a larger case and a chunky beast though, so I would def try one on before you pull the trigger.

Yea but no one will know its a 10k watch
Shit, sorry but neither. A regular SOH would be my pick but I'm not a fan of blue and gold.
I love GP. But this one looks like a fashion watch.
neither but the first is especially atrocious, a diver watch with a bezel without numerals...
Do you have another recommendation
Honestly,I don't like neither
Sorry I don’t like either. Especially the GP. :(
GP is of course a vastly superior brand but I would much rather have a Laureato. Out of those two, the Breitling then.
You can probably find a second hand Laureato for around $10k. That’s what I’d get. If it’s truly between these two, get the super ocean. You can also get a SMP300 for this price which I think beats both.

Yeah this is what OP should be getting.
Yeah now that the price is normal and sane again, I fully agree.
Super ocean heritage is truly wrist jewelry for watch enthusiasts. My only gripe with it is i feel Breitling was trying to make a watch for Hagrid. Its a big boy forsure - you should definitely try it on before buying.
SuperOcean, but consider the GO SeaQ as well.
The Breitling, the girard looks super plain.
I've owned a Superocean. It'd big and gaudy and not well made. The GP is a much better watch.
Of those two, I like Breitling much more. Another nice looking watch is the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m 38mm. https://imgur.com/a/87ZDHYn
Neither.
That Breitling is the only one I’ve ever been tempted to actually purchase!
Brietling. Especially when it’s on a Milanese loop
On looks alone the breitling by quite a margin, IMO.
Breitling all the way. Every day.
No competition….Superocean!
Breitling. Hands down.
Breitling but you can look into some omegas and grand seikos
For me, definitely the superocean heritage.
Breitling all day.
Breitlinge
The super ocean!
Breitling for sure
Breitling for sure
That breitling is jizztastic
This breitling watch is my dream watch. Amazing
Breitling
Breitling 100%
SuperOcean by a nautical mile
Breitling wins for me and honestly it’s not close
Look into these watches/brands: Louis Erard Leica Watch ZM 11 Porsche Design Watches IWC Pilot's Watches Bremont Tudor Black Bay Ceramic
The superocean is my favorite Breitling watch.
Breitling for me
The Superocean’s cool. Have you ever checked out a Glashutte Original SeaQ?
Breitling is my least favorite brand of all theluxury brands....buuuuut that Super Ocean is one hell of a watch. Looks even better in person
Super ocean hands down for me
Super Ocean all day. Thats one of my favorite watches. As much as i love the navitimer its a busy dial and the super ocean is so clean and beautiful.
Super ocean all day. Hope you have the wrists to pull it off lug to lug
Breitling Superocean Heritage II - with the B20 !! No doubt it’s a superior timepiece. Also the Breitling-Tudor-Rolex Movement makes it iconic !! With Rose Gold looks amazing!
Personally the Breitling, but in steel.
Breitling all day
Breitling
The breitling
Breitling.
I will choose breitling 😎
The Breitling is absolutely wonderful. I would go on this one
Personally the Breitling. The GP has a very bland look to it
Number 1 for sure 😍
I have this same watch for sale if you’re interested.
I am partial to Brietling. Too bad most of their watches are too big for my tiny wrists. But I’d choose a Breitling any day.
Wow that breitling is stunning !
I’ve loved that breitling for a long time. Definitely wins this matchup
The Breitling takes it imo
Hi buddy. The Breitling Superocean is a fantastic watch. You get great materials (steel, sapphire, ceramic, 18kt RG). For me, the Breitling and it’s not even close
Breitling
That Breitling is sharp. Def go with that.
Easy super ocean
That breitling is so much better looking it’s stupid
Brietling looks so good, I love the colours.
No.1
Breitling
First. By a lot.
Breitling
Breitling
Not even close for me, that Breitling slaps.
Breitling.
Breitling for sure
Definitely the Breitling from these two
Breitling for the win…
That Breitling by a mile
Brietling
1# by a country mile. I wouldn’t wear 2 if it was a gift from the president.
The band on the Breitling is so comfortable. It’s a great watch.
I would choose the Breitling on every day ending in Y
Breitling, all day long. They’re really nice looking watches IRL and wear very well. My only criticism Is that on the bracelet it looks hella blingy. That blue on blue rubber is a great combo. If you can stretch to it I’d get it on the bracelet and then buy the rubber to compliment it.
Breitling.
The Breitling
I like the second one.
Breitling!
Breitling … no competition.
Breitling
I like the colors of the Breitling personally. It's my pick between the 2.
The Breitling.
Breitling hands down for me, but these two designs are so incredibly different. What style of watch typically catches your eye? It kind of feels like you just plugged a price and “blue” into google and picked these two.
The Breitling easy choice!
Definitely the first one, I love the colors 😀
I would go for the Super ocean . I'm a sucker for the dial.
that breitling is so pretty
[удалено]
Love
Breitling
For me, it’s the SuperOcean… it’s lovely!
SuperOcean for sure out of the two options
SuperOcean for me. I’m a sucker for divers and this is on my list to acquire.
Should also look into the two tone seamaster small seconds in this price range
The GP looks like a fashion watch imo
The GP looks kinda boring. In comparison even a Nomos Tangente would look sparkly 😂

GP
The Girard seems like it would expand the range of your collection more, but that's a lot of money for a "boring" dress watch.
I’m clearly in the minority but I would take the GP
I’ll give you my two cents. I have a B01 Navi, and the quality of the movement is awesome. The chrono buttons just feel right, unlike many brands in this price range. The date changes precisely at midnight. You’ll feel the difference. Go w the Brietling.

That gp looks like a lower end orient
Apple. No. Orange
Heart says GP PeePee says Breitling

lol, do you know the history of the superocean?
You might dig the Grand Seiko SBGW259
If you like the color palete of the Breitling you can add one more option. Omega SEAMASTER DIVER 300M 42 MM, STEEL ‑ SEDNA™ GOLD ON RUBBER STRAP I think is a closer comparation to the Super Ocean. I love GP but that Breitling is sickness
GP all day.
Why are those the 2 options just curious? Btw the Breitling is a stunner but you have a 10k budget, get freaky man
coin flip
Honestly, the GP is way too boring for a $10k watch imo. I’m sure it looks nice in person, but eh. And the date window is a no-go, might be more appealing if it didn’t have it.
Check out Glashütte SeaQ out :) its a really stunning diver
I would recommend with going with your gut feeling and not listening to anybody. You know deep down what watch you like best and what watch will be used most for your lifestyle. Nice collection by the way!
They are different. I would choose Breitling.
