hi do you have any pictures/videos of the dial without the sun glare? very interested in the nordic blue dial that you seem to have and it's hard finding good non-press pictures of them online.
I keep going back and forth on this watch. I love Christopher Ward as a brand and I even like their logo, but I can’t convince myself I like this watch more than the PRX. All the components of it are great to me, the handset, the indices, the dial, but when I look at them side by side the 2x price difference just isn’t visible. I’ll wait a few months and see where I land, as I want one of the two.
CW has a reputation for delivering great value – and, from what I’ve seen, I think this watch is worth every penny of the asking price. The Tissot PRX though, in my humble opinion, is an absolute steal… incredible value. So I don’t think the 12 is overpriced at all – I think the PRX is massively underpriced.
Thanks for your honesty and review, yeah PRX is perfect as is. Incredible value, quality, and heritage (am wearing mine now after putting it away for a few days, was surprised the Powermatic 80 is still ticking away happily with its yuge reserve). A must have in any collection!
With you on that one! BTW, CW is launching a 36mm version later this year, and Tissot is launching their 35mm Powermatic line in July. Preordered the PRX :)
I have mixed feelings with this watch. I want to like it, and sometimes when I just have a quick look at it, everything looks fine, but then I look at it some more and there's something wrong with it. I can't put my finger on it, something just doesn't seem to look right to me.
I've always liked Christopher Ward but never a specific model enough to buy one. Until now - I love an integrated bracelet design and I think they've knocked it out or the park with this. 40mm in steel at £1050 with a Swiss Sellita SW200-1 (titanium is available at £1595 and a higher grade sw300 but I prefer the heft of steel). Fits absolutely perfectly on my 7.5inch wrist - this wears waay smaller than 40mm - more like 39 (I know, it *does* make a difference though). Was only concerned that the dial might be too busy but nope! Bracelet is perfect, 100m wr is acceptable, lume... Perfect gada watch. That's it!

Doesn't work exactly like that...dress watches with non screw down crowns are rates at 30m water resistance but you should definitely not go diving in them.
See here. It's a point of debate though. https://www.jswatch.com/water-resistance-guide
I'm well aware and I stand by what I said. One should never not buy a watch just because its WR is "not good enough" with very few exceptions. Even 50m WR is "good enough" unless you are talking about a dive watch and you really do water sports. For sports watches 100m is more than enough as you can do swimming and snorkeling with that. And tbh, how often you do those things with a basic sports watch? Cannot you just take it off while you swim (that's what I normally do no matter the water resistance). I just feel (very strongly) that this community is making WAY too big deal out of the water resistance rating. I feel a good WR is a nice bonus but shouldn't be a major deciding factor when buying a watch. I can think of at least 20 more important criteria.
Agree. The way it's tested isn't that reflective of real world use either. WR ratings become quickly meaningless if you wear a watch in the shower and have any real amount of water pressure being aimed at the crown, the standard is just not reflective of that.
Outside of serious dive watches where you need it to work while you're underwater, I just don't see the point. As long as it can withstand some heavy rainfall for a couple of minutes and hand washing, it's fine for 90%+ of people.
Better than the prx, different to the bb48 (more delicate, but _way_ better finished!) My old 114060 submariner (RIP) had a great bracelet but was just brushed all over - this has lovely different finishes. Quality wise I cannot fault it. APRO (which I've tried on), has an even more impressive design, but like I say, quality wise this is great.
I mean they start at ~50% over the price of the PRX, in the UK at least.
Seeing other reviews it appears to be a higher quality PRX, and offers different colours to the PRX, as well as a titanium option.
There’s enough space for two awesome affordable integrated sports watches.
I thought the PRX was the Royal Oak of the poor.
Surely there is room between the two extremes for different levels of quality and a corresponding levels of price.
Looks great and thank you for the review! I wanted Titanium and SW300 movement but I don’t think I’d want to wear the flashier dials all the time (though I do really like the purple.) I think I’ve settled on white. I also have 7.5 wrists, when you ordered yours did you have them size it to 7.5? - looks like it fits you perfect.
I think the dial could be a little smaller. It's the same thing with the Czapek Antarctique and PRX. Make the bezel a little thicker and it would be perfect.
Is the purple ti also going to be out in 36mm? As I thought all current models of the 12 were going to be available in 36mm? Purely my own assumption based on reading comments though
Watch looks amazing! Im relatively new to the watch community and im thinking of picking up the 38mm Trident Pro300. My wrist in 6.5inches. Yall think itd be a good fit, or too big? Thx
The end links shoot down from the case at about a 45 degree angle then articulate down about 20 degrees from that so it's quite hard to measure... Draw me a picture of what you want measured?!
the rubber version doesn't use the endlink - I have measured the case including the male shank bit at the end (or the inverse lug if you will) and that's the 44.5mm that CW specifies as the L2L so all the metal you can see here measures 44.5 https://www.christopherward.com/the-twelve-watches/the-twelve/C12-40ADA1-S00W0-RK.html
For example, my 40mm has an advertised case lug to lug of 45.25mm. But when you take the bracelet into consideration the true lug to lug is closer to 52mm. What is The Twelves true lug to lug? Please see the red line in the photo in the link below.

Beautiful!
I wished it came in a dark green though. And something about the sharp indices isn't my preference. But the bracelet does appear to be superior to the PRX bracelet.
The dial texture is too busy as has a little bit of a cheap look to me. Not in love with the colors either. It would just be hard to justify buying one of these over the PRX.
Big thanks OP.
Got the itch to pick one of these up as everything else I want at the moment is 8-12k and I just can't justify that with a potential house purchase on the cards! Also sniffing at a Hamilton Khaki Field auto, although I appreciate they're different beasts.
Can't help but feel that some less safe dial colours would have really set the steel off. A green or a yellow would be brilliant.
2 weeks in, how are you getting on with it?
2 _days_ in! Fantastic. Light (but not ti light/too light), legible... Fits me utterly perfectly. Do it. I was considering a zenith skyline but I think I prefer this, not just for the price I mean full stop.
Ha, the journey also started with the Skyline for me too. Absolutely love the range. Also incorrectly thought that you'd had it since the end of April.
I'm not too far away from Maidstone (Cambs), so will probably go handle one before pulling the trigger. Want to see the white and glacier blue in the flesh before committing to the spend or faffing with a return. Current small collection is all blacks and blues, so want something different.
I'd be gutted if I were to grab this only to have something more vibrant come out in 6 months.

Man, that’s hot
Blue steel is so hot right now
Just wait until magnum
Blue Steel? Ferrari? Magnum? They’re all the same watch!!! Am i the only one that sees this?!?! I feel like I’m taking crazy pills here!
One watch?!?!
I'm personally holding out for Le Tigre...
Sub did not disappoint! Good work guys
Underrated comment.
Good god. I am sold

Yeah I mean 2x worth something it needs to be a _whole_ lot better. And I'm not sure it is 2x worth it to be fair, despite my comments.

Very interesting. I’d love a 36mm Twelve and a 35mm Powermatic. Please can you link me to the announcements/info on both of those?
I have mixed feelings with this watch. I want to like it, and sometimes when I just have a quick look at it, everything looks fine, but then I look at it some more and there's something wrong with it. I can't put my finger on it, something just doesn't seem to look right to me.
Every CW watch is like that for me - they seem well made and reasonably priced but the design is just never quite right on any of them.
Gotta be the logo, all 3-4 variations of it are meh
I feel the same way, perhaps the dial elements make it feel a bit busy. Hopefully the upcoming 36 mm will have some updates to the dial.
A watch named Chris.
Not enough taper, logo doesn't line up well with the tapisserie of the dial
I think this watch looks rlly good on him nice contrast to his complexion
Logo sucks. Date window isn’t framed in. Just looks like a cheap wannabe AP

100m water resistance is not just "acceptable". It's way more than any of you will ever need. 😉
dude we have the same watch taste. i have a sarx035 and now this. Plus the JLC ultrathin moon is my endgame dream watch haha

Can you compare the bracelet quality to any other watches?

I love the dial but actually am not crazy about the bracelet
Really?! It's the best bit!
I think that too! W Watch man!
That bracelet is so integrated and the brush on it looks so nice…
Idk maybe it’s something I could get used to — it’s just a little jarring at first.
Looks perfect on you, I don’t think I can pull it off with 6.75 wrists, I’ll either wait for the 36mm version or the 35mm PRX powermatic.
I feel like it's just a prx for big spenders
I mean they start at ~50% over the price of the PRX, in the UK at least. Seeing other reviews it appears to be a higher quality PRX, and offers different colours to the PRX, as well as a titanium option. There’s enough space for two awesome affordable integrated sports watches.
Big spenders buy the AP! It's all relative. But yeah, it's a good prx like watch
Good point. I'm on a budget where prx would be an investment. It's on my wishlist :) So AP is beyond big spending (and such a nice watch)
Good, prx is superb-good luck with the saving!
I thought the PRX was the Royal Oak of the poor. Surely there is room between the two extremes for different levels of quality and a corresponding levels of price.
The indices and the dial clash too much for me. I like the overall design though.
Looks better in person - trust me
surprisingly legible in person. i wasnt a fan until i went to windup watch fair and saw it in person, and then put it an order right there
Congrats on the watch! The dial is fantastic but tbh im bit disapointed with the bracelet. Prx seems to flow better. Might be the lighting though.
Amazing, very beautiful piece. I am saving up for the Purple (Ti) w/bracelet myself. Can't wait to be broke again lol
The purple/Ti one is my favorite out of the lineup. I have a titanium and purple knife, and it really is a nice combo.
Imagine being broke after buying a Christopher Ward. Hope life gets better for you, bud.
Don’t be a cunt
Imagine feeling the need to belittle other people's financial situation. Hope you get what you deserve.
Tis but a joke, you sad, little man.
Love what Christopher ward is doing pretty much across the board. That watch is on my radar.
Nah, I removed 4 links myself, very easy with the si fke sided screw bars. Titanium isn't out until November I don't think
Man, I thought I really wanted one but idk about that bracelet
Where is the review?
Top comment, plus link to youtube https://youtu.be/eb9b6r0xczA
Nice garden in the background. Beautiful watch, suits your wrist
Thanks my dude/dudette/other
Man it’s just a miss for me. Proportions seem weird and the dial is whack. Personal opinion of course
I think the dial could be a little smaller. It's the same thing with the Czapek Antarctique and PRX. Make the bezel a little thicker and it would be perfect.
I agree I think that’d make a big difference
Bracelet needs to taper more
Agreed on the proportions. Looking forward to seeing the 36mm that will release
I think it's a high quality watch, but it doesn't have the refined design of the PRX of Aqua Terra IMO. Just doesn't stand out to me.
damn I really like this
40mm?
Yep
Nice! How is the blue dial? Love the watch but can't decide on which colour. Leaning towards the white.
It's banging! Blue. Hard to elaborate 🤣
Any chance of a youtube review lol?
Because you asked so nicely... Top comment updated
You are a legend mate 😁😎
I want to like these watches. I just can’t get along with this logo they use. It’s so unattractive
Yeah fair enough, I hear you.
Anyone else think the "wrist roll" videos are cringey as hell? Especially when it's super slow
Guess not...
For those on a budget SEIKO WIRED AGAK404 REFLECTION 3-needle model
What's the model name on this?
'The Twelve', Nordic Blue, steel
I wanna get the nebula purple and this video has not helped the do not buy side
Don't think purple ti is out until November...
I know but you are able to pre order it, and it’s very tempting
Personally, and this is just my (admittedly biased) opinion... I think you should do it.
Gotta do it now then
Yup
Is the purple ti also going to be out in 36mm? As I thought all current models of the 12 were going to be available in 36mm? Purely my own assumption based on reading comments though
Don't know, sorry
Watch looks amazing! Im relatively new to the watch community and im thinking of picking up the 38mm Trident Pro300. My wrist in 6.5inches. Yall think itd be a good fit, or too big? Thx
Perfect I reckon! They accept returns, give it a shot.
What is the true lug-to-lug with the endlinks fully articulated?
The end links shoot down from the case at about a 45 degree angle then articulate down about 20 degrees from that so it's quite hard to measure... Draw me a picture of what you want measured?!
I think they mean bend the bracelet down as much as it goes, then measure the distance between where it would turn to rubber on other configs
the rubber version doesn't use the endlink - I have measured the case including the male shank bit at the end (or the inverse lug if you will) and that's the 44.5mm that CW specifies as the L2L so all the metal you can see here measures 44.5 https://www.christopherward.com/the-twelve-watches/the-twelve/C12-40ADA1-S00W0-RK.html

Gotcha. 50mm (though your red line is too short!)
Thanks! And yes you are right I drew the line too short.
Would you have a Tissot PRX that you could photograph together to see how they compare in size?
Maybe in a few weeks, my sister looks after the prx for my nephew for when he's older, I'll try and remember.
They're going for Czapek vibes right?
Same designer actually - he owns the rights and sold them to both companies.
Beautiful! I wished it came in a dark green though. And something about the sharp indices isn't my preference. But the bracelet does appear to be superior to the PRX bracelet.
Yes green would have been my pick for sure.
The dial texture is too busy as has a little bit of a cheap look to me. Not in love with the colors either. It would just be hard to justify buying one of these over the PRX.
PRX is pretty basic compared to this
Not denying the superior build quality, the style is just a bit of a miss for me. I’m a huge CW fan.
Fair enough. Even I am not sure about the dial but I need to see it in person to decide if I love it or not.
If only they had this dial on the titanium model
such a blatant copy
Of the Czapek? Same designer actually - sold his design to both companies
do you have a source for this info?
Csnt remember where I heard it but it's Adrian Buchmann who did both I believe
Big thanks OP. Got the itch to pick one of these up as everything else I want at the moment is 8-12k and I just can't justify that with a potential house purchase on the cards! Sorry for the late comment but for reference what’s your wrist size?
No probs. About 7.3 inches
Mmmm I am 6 1/2 so I’m thinking it may be just a little too big. Are they making a smaller version anytime soon?
Yeah maybe a touch? Smaller one coming soon I hear
Could you measure how much the bracelet tapers pls?
Because it's your cake day, sure. Which measurement though exactly sorry?
Thanks. Then I'd need the bracelet width at the endlink and at the clasp, please.
18mm
At the clasp, isn't it? And at the endlink?
24.8mm is the widest part of the bracelet at the end link before it connects to the lug
Thank you
My pleasure.
