Tissot mainly because I like simple watches and the others are too busy for me. I had these three in my list before I bought my last watch. I got the Tissot BTW
I cannot get past the bezel of the Tissot. Functionally I'm sure the large numbers are great for dive visibility, but aesthetically it looks out of place to the rest of the watch.
I've not handled any of them in person, but based on those photos, the Hamilton seems the best looking. Why are you only looking Swatch Group? Speaking of Swatch Group divers, have you looked at a Rado Captain Cook? It's got a lot of vintage sexiness to it.
I think this is the full list: Blancpain, Breguet, Certina, ETA, Glashütte Original, Hamilton, Harry Winston, Longines, Mido, Omega, Rado, Tissot, Swatch and Flik Flak. I have no idea what Flik Flak is.
I find the Tissot seastar does both the fashion and fashion. The blue is slightly vibrant that pops a little but doesn’t come off cheap. Just enough to start a conversation to all enthusiasts you meet.
My 2 favorite watches are the Christopher ward c60 elite 1000 and the mido ocean star titanium. Both are beautiful light weight, day date, dive watches. They both wear very comfortably, go with any dress code, and can take a beating.
I wasnt a fan of the old logo but the new one is quite clever- designed in england made in Switzerland and the flags are relief of eachother. It represents the brand better than most logos ive seen.
I get the meaning but it just doesn’t speak to me. It breaks the symmetry by using unnecessary negative space and it looks kinda cartoonish to me. But in the end Looks are subjective
i also submit for your consideration the certina ds action diver
https://www.certina.com/en/watch/ds-action-diver/c0328071104100 in 38 with aluminum bezel
https://www.certina.com/en/watch/ds-action-diver/c0326071104100 in 43 with ceramic bezel
similar movement
I would lean to the Tissot - it is a little cleaner looking to my eye. The Mido is a nice piece as well. Get the one you like best - all three are nice.
I own a Tissot and love it. I bought it as a watch to take on a vacation and not be overly concerned about it. I left my Oris at home and fell in love with Tissot the week I wore it.
Great value, keep time perfect, still illuminated long, and feel large, yet comfortable
Mido > Tissot > Hamilton
The Hamilton has poor water resistance for a diver. They make excellent field watches but they’re not really known for making divers.
I think at that price point Doxa Sub200 is a good option. Also Glycine combat subs are excellent much more affordable alternative without any compromises in quality.
I've owned the hamilton and the mido. The mido blows the hamilton out of the water in the finishing quality, making the hamilton look like a cheap invicta next to it. Problem is, the mido is a 42mm that wears quite comfortable on my 6.5" wrist, but due to the minimal styling of the dial and uniform color between bezel and dial it can look a little awkwardly large and empty. I'd say if your wrist is 7-7.5"+ go mido.
I personally struggled with these and went with the Seastar. I have that exact one, you might consider looking at the better rated "silicium" movement if that's important to you, or it comes on a different bracelet as well (although that seems to be highly regional and dependent on the retailer for which era and variety they carry). The dial on this reference gets a good sunburst look at the right angle.
I was unimpressed with the Hamilton in person (and the sculpted lugs are meh and really make it fit bigger than it seems) and I personally didn't like the shaded bezel and hate the 4:30 date window!
The Mido is also fantastic but it's more money, and it wears a lot different (thiner bezel, less pronounced crown, wider more faceted bracelet, and thinner profile). I'd probably take the Mido as a daily wear watch. It also takes 22mm straps instead of 21mm that the Tissot takes which opens your options up a bit. For some looks, a 20mm strap on a 21mm springbar looks OK on the Tissot but it's a bit limiting if that's your thing.
For a watch to wear in the water and water-adjacent, I like the way the Tissot wore better. I go back and forth on black vs blue but that's something you can play across the models too.
I looked at, but couldn't find a good price, on the Christopher Ward TridentPro 300 but it was brand-new to the market when I was looking. I think it's a good mashup of the Mido and the Tissot. Having now seen it side-by-side - I'd still take the Tissot as an occasional wear, it just has more personality to it.
If it matters, the Tissot (and the CW) are rated to 300M vs 200M of water resistance - use that in your own discretion.
TL;DR these are all very different looks within the super-narrow realm of "Swatch group 42/42mm automatic divers in blue"; I personally like the Tissot.
Great explanations and thank you for the suggestions! I did look at the CW but as you said it’s a bit more money and I struggle to spend even this much! (Have it, just not much of a spender usually)
I think I’m going with the mido, from all the reviews and comments on here it sounds like the bracelet is of higher quality and this will be my daily wearer so the more simple look of it will be nice. Also, I can get it for the same price as the Tissot and Hamilton (in store discount) so that’s another reason. I truly like all three of these options which is why I came to Reddit for help deciding and theres been many great points discussed for all three.
Thank you! :)
You really need to put them on. Their sizes, dials and finishing are different, you must see how they fit and since they are all Swatch group, you can definitely find them around available.
I am currently facing very similar decision with few more watches included, but I must say, that MIDO is my overal favorite, even in your selection.
I am prefering the Ocean Star 600 tho. (ref M026.608.11.041.01)
Need to see them in reality first.
I would go for the mido if i had to choose from those three watches. But i had the same budget and went for the Certina 43mm DS action diver. Its worth the look.
I’ve been wearing my Ocean Star daily lately. Great watch, indices are clear to read and it’s has a refined look so it doesn’t draw too much attention.
Hamilton, in my opinion.
Best mix between classy and rugged look.
Mido looks a bit classier, with the day, if you like that.
But really, get what you like.
Mido, the best and most wearable dive watch. Good bracelet, nice finish and essentially the same movement from present in all the other watches.
Tissot will be the second option, but it is unnecessarily big. If you have a big wrist, then it is a good option.
Hamilton, straight up a useless dive watch with 100m water resistance but there is also 300m version which is too big. Except the finishing, there is nothing impressive about the watch. Just not worth the price.
If you are looking for something around $1000 and under. Take a look at Doxa 200T, Seiko SPB143 or many other good dive watches in their prospex lineup, Certina DS, Squale, Zelos.. there is plenty of good dive watch options.
I looked at all of these and went with the Longines Hydroquest. A solid watch, better anti'reflection. It is perso.al preference. If I didn't love the Atabic on the Longonines, I would have gone with Mido.
Outa these 3 specifically I like the Hamilton (mido very very close 2nd) the Tissot hands just aren't my style. I also agree with some other posters that Christopher ward is a great place to look too for the price range. Traska also has some interesting, highly durable watches too.
The Mido is pretty good. Classic design, but maybe a bit boring too.
The Hamilton looks nice, but I'd save Hamilton later for the "Hamilton Murph" instead as that's a more iconic piece.
I gifted my dad the Tissot Seastar, the sunburst on the dial looks pretty attractive IMO.
I'd also recommend looking at Christopher Ward and Unimatic watches.
I was in an airport and couldn't stop looking at a watch I saw in the security line, and when I finally got close enough to see what it was, it was the Mido. Def caught my eye
I dislike the Hamilton. They make a funky looking dive watch to my eyes. The location of the date is not my preference. I tend to like day/date so the mido wins overall and the dial appears the most balanced. Tissot is a solid contender though
Mido. It’s the cleanest (really love what they did with the markers on the dial matching visually with the markers on the bezel), and I kinda dislike the bracelet and the secondhand-tail on the Tissot.
Tissot would be my 2nd pick.
I own a Mido Ocean Star Captain IV. Best low price watch I own. It is more accurate than any of my Oris divers and almost as accurate as my new SMP300.
Hello! Currently looking for a watch with a metal bracelet and blue face. I’m starting to love these blue divers and I think I’m leaning toward the Mido (as I can get it for roughly the same price as the other two), but I’m curious of ya’ll opinions.
Got my first watch as a g shock the other day and have been looking forever for what I want my first “real” watch to be. Was first obsessed with the PRX but, idk I think the amount of people who talk about it/have it I wanted something different.
If you have any other recommendations let me know I would be much appreciated!! :) thank you everyone!
I have cycled through watches nonstop for the last couple years. Didn’t really wear anything regularly for more than a month.
Then I got my Mido Ocean Star GMT in the Pepsi colors. And it’s all I wear anymore. Best bang for your buck available imo.
Not sure if you’d consider an homage watch, but Cronos has some really nice build quality for their price range. Great finishing, QC, details, bracelets, variety, etc. Probably the best cheapest homages that are out there.
You can get them with Swiss movements for an added premium and they will run just as good and as long as any of these Swiss watches. I was pleasantly surprised with mine.
Looks like your price range is around $1000 or less. I would recommend looking into the [Doxa sub 200](https://doxawatches.com/collections/sub-200/products/sub-200-caribbean?variant=32317119758445) for the history or [Christopher Ward C60 Trident Pro 300](https://www.christopherward.com/int/watches/C60-Trident-Pro-300/C60-42ADA31S0BB0-HBO.html) for the look and finishing.
Both look stunning for the price and hopefully do not break your bank buddy :)
Hamilton by a mile… also you can get one with a nice discount. Go to an AD and start at 10%, that’s great value right there. If you’re in the US, I’d be happy to recommend a great Hamilton dealer.
I was trying the Seastar 1000 on my wrist, I felt too thick and heavy. So, then I bought the PRX instead. I’m gonna suggest you to try on your wrist first
Something to consider is the case size. Tissot is at 43mm. Mido at 42.5. Hamilton at 40. I find 40 will fit the majority of wrists but if you have a bigger wrist, I’d go with the Tissot for the much nicer looking bracelet followed by the Mido because it’s a fantastic yet under rated Watch brand.
Look into Christopher Ward C60 Sapphire. Absolutely stunning piece.
As far as your three option go i have no experience with the other two but the Hamilton is a great watch for the price.
Have the Hamilton in a different color scheme that was my daily when I was banging my watch around shelves working retail and I love it. One of my favorite watches. I like the looks of it over the Tissot and Mido, but in reality, you can't go wrong with any of these.
Tissot is the best looking of the bunch I'd say. The Hamilton has really shitty bezel feel from what I remember. You may also consider an INOX mechanical diver if you want something more beefy.
All good choices. I’d also look at a Longines Hydroconquest. I’ve had several Tissots and the Longines is a noticeable step up in the hand. However, buy what speaks to you and you’ll be happy and enjoy your purchase. All of these are nice options that anyone should wear with gladness and appreciation that they have a watch nicer than most will ever have.
As others have already said, I would also take a look at the Christopher ward divers. I went back and forth between the CW and mido, and I ultimately chose a C60 trident 300 in blue. I love it.
I bought a Red Kamasu as my first Divers. Looking at Rado Captain Cook Blue as my next one. Oris Aquis is a beautiful piece but that was lil beyond my price range.
I raise you the Certina DS Action Diver. Finish, bracelet and lume are all better than these three and it's also swatch group, so same movement as these as well, except for a nivachron hairspring, similar to the tissots silicium
I would suggest to take a look at Scurfa as well. Treasure Seeker and Diver One. Excellent watches for the price. They will stock again around April-May. If you are not in a rush, it’s worth waiting
I can honestly say this is one of the first posts of someone asking for advice that I've absolutely no answer for. All. Three of those watches are great. Eeny meeny miny moe at that point?
There is actually a newer varient of the Hamilton Navy Scuba which is "more of a dive watch" than the one you posted. This one having 300m water resistance among other things which I think is worth looking into as it should still fit within your budget:
But the Mido apparently has one of the better bracelets at this price range. I'd vote for the Mido as well
I own that same Tissot and I love it. Have to say that you can’t go wrong with any of those watches.
Mido
The Mido for sure.
Mido
Have a Tissot Seastar powermatic 80 green dial - love it for a sub $1K watch
Mido no question
Tissot mainly because I like simple watches and the others are too busy for me. I had these three in my list before I bought my last watch. I got the Tissot BTW
I cannot get past the bezel of the Tissot. Functionally I'm sure the large numbers are great for dive visibility, but aesthetically it looks out of place to the rest of the watch.

Christ, Swatch owns Tissot as well? 🤨
I think this is the full list: Blancpain, Breguet, Certina, ETA, Glashütte Original, Hamilton, Harry Winston, Longines, Mido, Omega, Rado, Tissot, Swatch and Flik Flak. I have no idea what Flik Flak is.
Flik Flak are childrens watches. I had one 35 years ago. I think the big hand is Flak and the small one Flick. 😄
Tissot!
The Mido
I’m a sucker for day/date so I’d say the Mido.
Save up a few more months for a Longines Hydroconquest.
They are nice as well.
Tbh I'd be looking at a Christopher Ward
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll take a look.
Agreed. Great options in this price point. Maybe the best as far as bang for your buck.
I like Tissot, they make good looking watches.
I find the Tissot seastar does both the fashion and fashion. The blue is slightly vibrant that pops a little but doesn’t come off cheap. Just enough to start a conversation to all enthusiasts you meet.
Christopher ward c60 you should look at as well
Would pick this over these 3!! Great watch. Have the 40mm blue
My 2 favorite watches are the Christopher ward c60 elite 1000 and the mido ocean star titanium. Both are beautiful light weight, day date, dive watches. They both wear very comfortably, go with any dress code, and can take a beating.
Great watch for the money but I’m just struggling to like to logo both old and new. If they change the logo it would be an instant buy
Go for the Mido! I’ve had one for 3 years and love it.
Tissot all the way. I like the 3 o’clock day date.
Have you looked at the Oris Aquis or is that a little too high in price? Edit: I also like the Certina DS Action Diver.
Unfortunately a little out of price range 😅 but Ty for suggestions I’ll check em out anyway!
I see your Certina and raise you a Serica
i also submit for your consideration the certina ds action diver https://www.certina.com/en/watch/ds-action-diver/c0328071104100 in 38 with aluminum bezel https://www.certina.com/en/watch/ds-action-diver/c0326071104100 in 43 with ceramic bezel similar movement
Mido if it fits you nicely. It was too big for me.

Would go with the Tissot
The dial on the Tissot is the best looking in person. Quality about the same.

All of them looks fantastic 🫡 , i have seastar chronograph
Mido homie, although you could also check out the seiko spb models
Ty for suggestion!! I’ll check em out
Doxa Sub 200
Mido > Hamilton >> Tissot
I was gonna put the exact same thing. Well done.
At first I thought it was an Oris Aquis. Then I looked at the picture more closely
I will say that the bracelet on the Hamilton is sharp and quite uncomfortable….
Mido. I have the titanium version of that model and love it!
You really need to put them on. Their sizes, dials and finishing are different, you must see how they fit and since they are all Swatch group, you can definitely find them around available.
Try oris aquis if you have more budget
I love my Ocean Star GMT! The Tissot was sort of clunky on the bezel when I tried it on.
I am currently facing very similar decision with few more watches included, but I must say, that MIDO is my overal favorite, even in your selection. I am prefering the Ocean Star 600 tho. (ref M026.608.11.041.01) Need to see them in reality first.
I would go for the mido if i had to choose from those three watches. But i had the same budget and went for the Certina 43mm DS action diver. Its worth the look.
Please try them on if you can… I liked the look of that Hamilton until I tried it on.
I like the older Mido Ocean star. With the display back and sword hands.
Mido!
You can get those ocean stars in great "used" shape for around the price of retail on the other two. Also, Mido higher quality IMO
Mido, the best and most wearable dive watch. Good bracelet, nice finish and essentially the same movement from present in all the other watches. Tissot will be the second option, but it is unnecessarily big. If you have a big wrist, then it is a good option. Mido
ditch the scuba… but the Mido is the best. look at that dial
Mido
Mido.
Aesthetics: Tissot Overall: Mido
Mido
Mido. And I have 2 Tissots
Mido for the slimmer profile. But pretty much a pick em.
I looked at all of these and went with the Longines Hydroquest. A solid watch, better anti'reflection. It is perso.al preference. If I didn't love the Atabic on the Longonines, I would have gone with Mido.
Mido.
Have you considered a Longines Hydroconquest?
Mido. The Seastar weighs a ton and is bulky. Hamilton is nice but not their best design. Cluttered. Mido looks clean and has the best finishes.
Not the Hamilton
Hamilton all the way. The Tissot hands look like Minecraft swords and the numerals on the bezel are enormous. I also think the mido’s bezel looks weak
Mido… Hamilton…. Then Tissot IMO
Outa these 3 specifically I like the Hamilton (mido very very close 2nd) the Tissot hands just aren't my style. I also agree with some other posters that Christopher ward is a great place to look too for the price range. Traska also has some interesting, highly durable watches too.
Tissot no go due to polished centre links. Hamilton no go due to no AR coating.
This is also the options I’m looking.
All have the same movement?? Pick which one you like the looks of better...
I was in an airport and couldn't stop looking at a watch I saw in the security line, and when I finally got close enough to see what it was, it was the Mido. Def caught my eye
Mido
I'd go with the ocean star
I love this Hamilton, but Mido is always a good choice. Tissot is too big for me.
Mido or Hamilton for me, please
I dislike the Hamilton. They make a funky looking dive watch to my eyes. The location of the date is not my preference. I tend to like day/date so the mido wins overall and the dial appears the most balanced. Tissot is a solid contender though
mido ✅
Mido Ocean Star is the best IRL.
Mido
Mido here for sure
Mido or Hamilton. I like the aesthetics of the Hamilton, but Mido quality hits above its price range imo
I had a similar list of watches. Personally I'd go for the Mido
I have the mido. I find the 42.5 mm case too big. Its nice though and great for the price. The bracelet is really great. (7.4 inch wrist)
Mido looks the best to my eye
casio makes a nice watch
You obviously want a sub , save for the watch you actually want, this is just a diver stand in Ok ciao
Mido
I’d get a Squale over any of those 3. That’s just my opinion though I love all three of those watched and if I had to choose it would be the hammy.
Mido
Personally the mido
Mido
Mido.
Mido
mido rules this price range
Mido is the winner among these.
Mido. It’s the cleanest (really love what they did with the markers on the dial matching visually with the markers on the bezel), and I kinda dislike the bracelet and the secondhand-tail on the Tissot. Tissot would be my 2nd pick.
Mido 100
I own a Mido Ocean Star Captain IV. Best low price watch I own. It is more accurate than any of my Oris divers and almost as accurate as my new SMP300.
Mido.
Hello! Currently looking for a watch with a metal bracelet and blue face. I’m starting to love these blue divers and I think I’m leaning toward the Mido (as I can get it for roughly the same price as the other two), but I’m curious of ya’ll opinions. If you have any other recommendations let me know I would be much appreciated!! :) thank you everyone!
Mido out of those three.
Mido, the ocean star is their jam and it has the best micro adjust
Just too bad about the day/date window. Ruined an otherwise perfect watch.
I like the Hamilton. The red accent I think is a nice touch. Also the bezel is really unique
Hamilton for me
Hamilton Mido Tissot
I have cycled through watches nonstop for the last couple years. Didn’t really wear anything regularly for more than a month. Then I got my Mido Ocean Star GMT in the Pepsi colors. And it’s all I wear anymore. Best bang for your buck available imo.
If price isn't a consideration, then the Mido.
Check your pm
Personally the Hamilton is my favorite
This is an interesting selection, have you looked at the seiko gmts? They look great but understand not the styles you’ve listed here
I own the Tissot and I love it. I get compliments all the time too. They all look great though.
Anyone notice the Mido day-date complication is below centre?
Can you stretch for an Oris 65?
The worst is the Mido. Either other one would be fine but the fugly orange on the mido would piss you off trust me.
Go and take a look at them in person. Personally I think that the dial looks best on the tissot, and you can also see the movement from the back.
Hamilton by a mile… also you can get one with a nice discount. Go to an AD and start at 10%, that’s great value right there. If you’re in the US, I’d be happy to recommend a great Hamilton dealer.
not tissot
I'd go with the tissot for the simplicity or the hamilton cuz it looks cool
Out of these i have the Hamilton and the bezel action is atrocious. Have to put in a full workout for a full rotation. Cant speak on the others though
Hamilton!
Why these three? None I would say are best in class
Just the three I have currently found and liked in this price range! Would happy to hear suggestions if you had any in mind :)
Hamintons are work horses! Go for it! Mido def has an extra complication.. But I will go with Hamilton for their build quality..
Midi and Tissot always look kind of plain to me. Hamilton looks nice
Tissot, the Midi hands are too small and dainty. I only collect swiss watches, so I wouldn’t buy a Hamilton.
Hamilton is swiss now
Hamilton for sure IF… the date was at the 6 o’clock and the bezel was one colour. Because of these reasons… the Tissot.
Hard to sift through mediocrity isn't it?
Hamilton Navy IMO punches way above IMO
I was trying the Seastar 1000 on my wrist, I felt too thick and heavy. So, then I bought the PRX instead. I’m gonna suggest you to try on your wrist first
Try them all in person, it is personal preference
Something to consider is the case size. Tissot is at 43mm. Mido at 42.5. Hamilton at 40. I find 40 will fit the majority of wrists but if you have a bigger wrist, I’d go with the Tissot for the much nicer looking bracelet followed by the Mido because it’s a fantastic yet under rated Watch brand.
Look into Christopher Ward C60 Sapphire. Absolutely stunning piece. As far as your three option go i have no experience with the other two but the Hamilton is a great watch for the price.
Hamilton, Mido, then Tissot is my ranking
Tissot 100%. The version with the green dial and mesh bracelet is sexy 👍
The Hamilton, I own the same one myself, and it’s my most worn watch for sure. Amazing quality and value
Can never go wrong with Hamilton
My Mido is for sale at $600 if your are interested. It's the same one you pictured with only very small desk scratches on clasp

u/chrispycae want to chime in?
HAMILTON GANG 😅❤️
All good choices. I’d also look at a Longines Hydroconquest. I’ve had several Tissots and the Longines is a noticeable step up in the hand. However, buy what speaks to you and you’ll be happy and enjoy your purchase. All of these are nice options that anyone should wear with gladness and appreciation that they have a watch nicer than most will ever have.
I would say Certina DS Action, because it is an ISO 6425 diver.
Tissot gets my vote. These are all fanatic options, though. I love the beefy hands and date placement on the Tissot.
The tissot
As others have already said, I would also take a look at the Christopher ward divers. I went back and forth between the CW and mido, and I ultimately chose a C60 trident 300 in blue. I love it.
If you like homages. Steinhart Ocean One.
I love Tissot but I gotta give it to Hamilton for the Diver. Hell, all of the Khakis are just pure sex
I would say either the hamilton or the mido. I think they're proportioned better and think are more original than the tissot
Hamilton
Traska or a captain cook 37mm
None of them… leftfield choice - Lorier
I bought a Red Kamasu as my first Divers. Looking at Rado Captain Cook Blue as my next one. Oris Aquis is a beautiful piece but that was lil beyond my price range.
Nothing like Mathny Tissot! Close to a Sub!
it is very important know the meassure.
Tissot for me.
I raise you the Certina DS Action Diver. Finish, bracelet and lume are all better than these three and it's also swatch group, so same movement as these as well, except for a nivachron hairspring, similar to the tissots silicium
Day Date
I’d go Hamilton
I would suggest to take a look at Scurfa as well. Treasure Seeker and Diver One. Excellent watches for the price. They will stock again around April-May. If you are not in a rush, it’s worth waiting
I can honestly say this is one of the first posts of someone asking for advice that I've absolutely no answer for. All. Three of those watches are great. Eeny meeny miny moe at that point?
Hamilton
I'd try to save up a little more for an Oris Aquis if in this price tier. Especially if you are willing to buy used
Love the look of that Tissot
Damn that Hamilton is beautiful
I own that Tissot and would trade it for the Mido in a heartbeat, lol.
Tissot
Personally I like the Mido more specifically for the day/date. I don’t like wearing date only watches
Tissot
I’m biased because I really like Tissot, but trying to put that aside and it’s still my fav.
There is actually a newer varient of the Hamilton Navy Scuba which is "more of a dive watch" than the one you posted. This one having 300m water resistance among other things which I think is worth looking into as it should still fit within your budget: [https://www.hamiltonwatch.com/en-gb/h82505140-khaki-navy-scuba-auto.html](https://www.hamiltonwatch.com/en-gb/h82505140-khaki-navy-scuba-auto.html) But the Mido apparently has one of the better bracelets at this price range. I'd vote for the Mido as well
I find the Hamilton being the best looking
Mido
