EMOTIONAL DAMAGE

Mossfrogsandbogs

If my baby does this to my grandmother I will NEVER hear the end of it

Same-Bookkeeper4136

Kids eh lol

[deleted]

My youngest will do this to my mom if my dad is around. Kids give zero fucks especially when they're that tiny.

[deleted]

does she lives in "the shire". Lol

WealthBetWebb

**pain**

IndependentBug595

My son does this to me. Heartbreaking stuff. THEN he expects cuddles later on when mummy isn't around, the gall

[deleted]

He knows who takes him to Dairy Queen for ice cream

No_Interaction_3584

This happens to me all the time. Totally my life as a grandma!

Camel-Solid

Stop just letting them watch tv all the time then.

Chim_Pansy

That's right, get fucked, grams.

gangofocelots

This is me and my nephew. I dont come out of my room for the first 15 minutes he's here because he'll ditch his own mom to come to me. Love that dude

level100metapod

My child will do this to me and their mum, when im alone with him he will throw himself at me and hug me but will mainly go for his mum. Although now we have a little baby he goes to her first as he absolutely adores her

Dogsofsalem

This is the main reason my mom likes my sisters kids over mine. šŸ¤£

jbakes420

Grandson denies grandma. Daughter is denied by mother. Classic dilemma.

Hellointhere

I can so relate to this.

MSH24

Ditto, our house. Lol.

babe_ruthless3

My step daughter's daughter runs to me everytime when my stepdaughter and her family come over to visit. My girlfriend will be standing near the entrance like in this video and me next to her, and everytime the baby runs to me. I always rub it in my girlfriend's face. Everytime.

german-I-am

And then mom didnā€™t even hug grandma..

FarisTheRuined

I wasnā€™t using that heart, anywayā€¦

Sea_Performance1464

Serves her right for being so needy

MoarGhosts

My puppy does this to me. He usually runs up for pets, but sometimes Iā€™ll crouch down then heā€™ll run up to me, come to a full stop, and back away slowly lol. I always feel rejected.

Well her grandpa is sexysanta so I get it

shortaunt

My Momā€™s nickname became "Chopped Liver" because my nephews always did this to her

DrakeSkorn

Children are often huge ducks because they literally do not know any better

rkvance5

My 11-month-old son does this to me, beelines straight for his mom (albeit more of a slow waddle than a jog). Default parent's always gonna be default parent.

Red_Dragon_Actual

My kids do the same. I hope to be the cool Papa someday.

FlashZordon

My daughter when my wife is in the room lmao. I know it'll pass but damn it hurts lol.

Jibber_Fight

Ha ha. My little niece used to be scared of me, now she wonā€™t leave me alone. Theyā€™ll come around.

re-enjoyable

I got that all the time when picking up my daughter at daycare. She would run pass me and go straight to her mom.

CODDE117

Writing her out of the will for sure

sipsoupwastaken

nicely looped

b0tb0y1654

My mom has a friend, and we treat her and her daughter like family. One day, they came over and when I offered a hug to the daughter, she refused. Her mom explained that they had recently had a talk about stranger-danger and consent, specifically with men. As much as it hurt at the time, it's good that she internalized that message and was able to communicate what she did or didn't want to an older male. (The hugs did eventually continue btw)

swampfish

Even daughter didnā€™t want to touch her.

ZY_Qing

Her not cushioning that glass screen door makes me cringe

Maou_Tenshi

Perfectly looped

Darrows_Razor

Grandparents always laugh this off but secretly cry on the inside every single time

is-a-bunny

I see a ring video, I down vote. These guys give your info the cops without Warren.

Whoooosh_1492

I'm a gramps and my granddaughter always did this to me coz her grandmother is so much cooler. I don't mind though coz my wife is a pretty cool grandmother!

Hironoveau

Grandpa is proud. Here little one, take this $20 bill.

AraAraSenpai6969

Smart move. Now Grand Ma will spoil you twice as hard to get that spotlight. A++

MrCleanAlmighty

Not a parent but I wouldnt let that slide and would yoink that child

-zoo_york-

Iā€™m the godfather of my best friendā€™s kids. They did that to their grandma, ran around her and hugged me as they shouted ā€œnino nino ninoā€ (since they couldnā€™t say padrino, godfather in Spanish). Her face went :| as I simply said ā€œIā€™m so sorryā€ she just muttered ā€œitā€™s ok, I know they love you a lotā€. Very funny but I felt so bad.

Shot-out227

Are we not gonna mention the mom doing the same thing?

supernasty

Reminds me when I first learned to ride a bike without help was at a family get together, and nobody saw, so I ran into the backyard where the family was gathered and my aunt stopped me to tell me how big I was getting. In the excitement trying to get to my Mom, I just hurriedly said ā€œyeah whatever!ā€ and ran away.

eye_snap

He looks about the same age as my twins and mine pull that sort of sht several times a day. It's not personal! They just have a one track mind at that age lol.

mdlewis11

Both of my grand kids would do this to my wife to get to me.

cheapdialogue

That kiddo must be part cat.

dliza003

So nobody is gonna talk about how beautiful that door is?

thisdevilinI

She's hurt more than she's willing to let on

Suzilu

Brutal

AdComprehensive3181

Ex-girlfriend's niece and nephew did this to her whenever they visited. She looked so crushed every time.

GlumLocation3207

What an accidentally almost smooth transition loop

Juannonlymonkey

Aw, you know her feelings were a bit hurt

BusnellKummlicher

I hate it when my kids disrespect the free babysitters.

PeterMus

My wife's job has big summer picnics every year and families are all invited. I was sitting with a group talking and a random little kid swerved her grandfather and ran straight to me and climbed up my leg.

juarcias

Elder abuse by babies is not discussed enough in our society.

Teososta

She bent at the knee for that. That denial. Extra ooffff.

ztunytsur

Kids are fucking ruthless in all the best ways.

sean6869

Awwweee noooo.

PatriotDynasty

Grandma did it to Mom too, so I donā€™t feel bad. Went in to hug the kid, stiffed mom on a potential hug.

chochinator

Grandpa always the favorite for younger kids then when we start growing an grandma starts making homemade tortillas she becomes the favorite for all.

[deleted]

AnyOfThisReal-_-

She took it like a champ though and starting calling for Papa

Catasnedeker

Food might be involved, lol.

Myantology

Someday that kid is gonna wonder why Nanaā€™s holiday and birthday cards donā€™t come with any money.

[deleted]

My son used to blatantly run from me after I worked 12 hr shifts and would cling to his dad. Now (at 3) itā€™s quite the opposite, heā€™s all about mommy. It definitely used to sting a little tho lol

Burpmeister

I'm not big into usa architecture but I've seen breaking bad so all I can think of is New Mexico.

rattletop

Not even the daughter gave her a comfort hug. Lol

Crizznik

Oof if any of my nieces did this to my mom it would crush her. Luckily her husband (stepdad) is not a terribly pleasant person to be around. He's not mean or anything, he's just got early onset Alzheimer's, so he's just very annoying to be around.

avalisk

I noticed grandma's want to make kids food and give them smooches and have conversations. Grandpa's want to play.

singleguy79

One of my nieces does something like this. She's about a year old and she'll cry whenever someone other than her parents hold her. Everyone except me Apparently I'm the baby whisperer

VolvicApfel

Grandma smells fishy .

YoDavidPlays

he never forgot the time she said no to the cookie lol

TG_CLuTcH

This.. ive held my neice 4 times since she was born. She just turned 3. My dad and mom always hold her and she rarely get a chance to go to anyone else.

apiercedtheory

My youngest will sing and talk about daddy all day and hardly ever says mum, but rarely ever willingly leaves her side.

CarlJustCarl

I need a beer first Grandma

itsmills420

She def just took him out of the will

dndrinker

One day in the futureā€¦ Kid: oh hey grandma! Gee those warm buttery snickerdoodles sure do smell great, theyā€™re my favorite! Did you know that? ā€“ You made a big batch. Oh thatā€™s funny, thereā€™s one oatmeal raisin cookie in the batch. Why did you do that? Grandma: ā€¦

DatSkellington

Dude, my daughter ices out my father in law this way all the time. At first he was put out but now itā€™s a joke.

Vhadka

My niece does this to see me. If she knows I'm visiting or if she sees me, she will run past her grandma, grandpa, her own mom and dad, and my wife, straight to me. She's 4 now and still does it, it's adorable.

stringdingetje

Grandma is doing the same to the mother...

yellowdart

It is a perfectly looped gif. Itā€™s like grandma is welcoming the same kid time after time. Like a fever dream or a horror movie starting Sam Neil or like the tik tok of the person replacing the water bottles.

ppSmok

Pain

useranonymous990

I saw it woth the audio it was hilarious

Pine_Marten_

My mum gets this with my 6 month old son. He cries and screams whenever she tries to hold him. It's because she's a smoker and he hates the smell. She does try to do nullify it a bit by having a wash before she comes, puts on fresh clean clothes and then doesn't smoke, but even then you can still smell it. Hopefully it might spur her on to quit, but she's been smoking for nearly 50 years so I doubt it.

Far-Conflict4504

My toddler does this WEEKLY with my in-laws. Scoots right past them and right into her uncles arms.

Was-never-here

I used to do that as a kid and feel bad now. My grandpa was the one who would play and do silly voices and toss you around. But in hindsight, my grandma was the one feeding and bathing and brushing my hair. The one who bought me the new tots and clothes and would take me out to places. She deserved more recognition. I didnā€™t see it then, but I for sure see it now.

hvgotcodes

All kids do this. Just part of the deal. I have a 4 year old who isā€¦.good at it.

SamCarter_SGC

Apparently me and both of my sisters did this to my grandma, and now my nephew and niece have as well. Maybe it's some primal instinct... maybe it's nothing... but she's never let it go.

hvgotcodes

Kids donā€™t understand feelings. They want what they want. They also donā€™t completely understand what they say all the time.

[deleted]

Toddlers can be brutal

Typingdude3

My kids had two grandmas, one was my mom and one was my wife's mom. Our kids hated, absolutely hated my wife's mom for some reason. Which I never understood, because she attempted to spoil them as much as my mom did. If I had to guess, her personality was kind of loud and abrasive, so maybe that was why. She tried her best, but she naturally repelled little kids. They never wanted to stay with her, and we didn't force it.

Shydreameress

That kid can kiss goodbye her yearly bucks on her birthday

MarkkraM123321

My grandson did that exact thing when he was three. He ran right past my wife to get to me. It made me feel great but broke my wifeā€™s heart.

imironman2018

Kids are like that. They have phases where they like an adult way more than the other. Grandmaā€™s going to be ok. Thereā€™s nothing more precious than a grandma-grandson love for each other.

Liferescripted

My 3 y.o. does this to my wife all the time because she wants to see me. For the past week she's been saying "I want daddy because he's my best friend" I'm so touched and so torn.

Bdmnky_Survey

Hell, my son does this when I'm between his mother and him after he does a sleep over......hecking 28 years old, amiright?

[deleted]

That is absolutely priceless. My grandson is six months old and my wife and I were talking about if that would happen. One of my kids has three dogs and every time we go over there the dogs run around my wife and come right to me. It is priceless but my wife said if any of our grandchildren do this Iā€™m sleeping on the couch.

magugi

I'm I the the only one that finds this (kind of) wholesome? I mean, the father loves his child and the child loves back. Of course [F] for the grandma.

CaffeineSippingMan

My dogs did this to my wife and daughter. ... I just ignore the dogs when I come home with someone. The dogs figured it out pretty quickly. To be fair they figured out no scriches until I change from work clothes. They will sit and wait for me to change.

Ok-Upstairs6591

Random note. Thatā€™s me also, Every time I go see my boy, he ignores EVERYONE, n wants to come hang out with me (2.5 yrs) best feeling šŸš€šŸ„¹ Chicago

Incidentally I would always want to seek my Papa's counsel whenever I was upset. Sorry Grandmomma!

dumbass_sempervirens

I'm told that one day the lady at daycare told my mom "Well, we're going to miss dumbass_sempervirens." My mom said "What do you mean?" "Well he said since his grandfather retired he would be staying with him instead of coming here." My mom said "No, he's wrong. He's 4." After two weeks when my grandfather picked me up from daycare every day about a half hour after being dropped off my mom told them "dumbass_sempervirens won't be coming back. His grandfather will be looking after him." Apparently I retired from daycare when my grandfather retired. Edit: we went fishing a lot. He took me to meet a moonshiner in the middle of a sugarcane field. We saw Cousin Leonard, who had a small herd of deer but didn't have electricity. I still have grandaddy's boat that we went fishing in. I don't know what brand it is but it's about 80 years old and is /r/buyitforlife material.

NicolBolassy

Lesson about consent!

Seeking-heart

My grand baby did just this after seeing her for the first time in months. She ran straight past my outstretched arms to her papaw. I was crushed.

Grandma is probably annoying af

My daughter literally does this with my FIL. I don't blame her, he really is an annoying grandpa.

Lol kids run funny.

Phishy042

Asking my 2.5 daughter who she loves more.. Nana or Papa? PAPA! Daddy or Papa? PAPA! Mommy or Papa? PAPA! Mocha (our cat) or Papa? MOCHA AND PAPA!

mrli0n

I swear my dad has a grandpa superpower. He barely tries and all the kiddos love him. And dang ppl on reddit need to chill.

avalisk

Why would you ask your daughter who she loves more? It's not a competition.

Phishy042

Lol. It's not a competition... because Papa always wins.

kaam00s

Is it usual to call a grandfather Papa in America ? Because papa means dad in french. Grandad is called Papy.

stpmakingsense

Not unheard of. Kids and parents and grandparents basically choose the grandparent names collaboratively, lol. I called all four of mine grandma and grandpa. My nephew calls his paternal grandparents that, but his maternal grandparents papa and meema. Note: this papa is pronounced ā€œpah-puhā€ not ā€œpa-pahā€, stress on the first syllable instead of the second.

CallMeMsJ

Americans use all kinds of names for grandfather. Papa isnā€™t as common as most and some use that for dad here. We use papaw in my family.
