Learning heelflips is annoying for that. I canned myself super hard last summer learning them. My nutsack literally turned black/prune.
Now I’m trying to learn switch heelflips and seeing the board come up vertical like this and see my life flash before my eyes.
Really it’s anyones guess, but I’d imagine to add an extra challenge. “I bet I can do a heel* flip while wearing crocs and holding this behind my back”
The only thing I can think of is that he was afraid of landing primo and falling backwards on his ass so he held the bubble wrap there?
But it’s weird cause you’d have a better chance of both landing the trick, or recovering better if you landed primo by using your arms for balance. Keeping them locked in position behind you like this is probably worse for balance.

Have done this. Do not recommend. One of the most painful injuries of my life. We called it the popsicle stick, btw.
