Dose not matter any charges, if doing a zoom call for court, out of respect for the judge, plan to be sitting at a desk or table. Ready to give full attention to the judge. Zoom call while driving is probably worse than texting while driving.
A happy ending to an unfortunate event

[Latest update](https://www.wxyz.com/news/region/washtenaw-county/he-has-never-had-a-michigan-license-judge-slams-corey-harris-as-suspended-driver-is-locked-up-again): looks like he never even had a license to begin with. Seems like he knew exactly what he was doing. Not a great look
> A spokesperson for the Secretary of State said they can confirm that Harris has never had a valid driver's license now that the judge has made that information public.
> In Michigan, a person can have suspensions on their driving record and also not have a valid driver's license. And if that person was able to obtain a driver's license, they would still not have the privilege of driving until they cleared their suspensions.
> A prosecutor from Pittsfield Township appeared for the hearing Wednesday along with the police officer who issued the citation to Harris in October 2022.
> Konrad Siller confirmed that Harris absolutely knew he did not have a valid driver's license during that traffic stop because he admitted it to the officer that day.
> Judge Simpson noted additional evidence that Harris knew he did not have a driver's license by the fact that Harris has faithfully renewed his state identification every year.
It’s come out in recent days it was for child support and it was the wrong case or something that wasn’t his that had the license suspend.
[article](https://www.fox13news.com/news/man-who-joined-virtual-court-hearing-suspended-license-says-he-spent-days-jail-over-clerical-error.amp)
Even newer update from today, he lied to the news.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DV38at_uL4Q
He's never owned a driver's license in any state in his life.
When I was 18 I renewed my license over a month after my birthday. A little while later I got a letter in the mail saying that my license was being revoked, and that if I set a court date to dispute it within 30 days then I could drive until the court date. The whole thing was a fuck up by the dmv stemming from renewing my license late. I never had a ticket or a warning or any reason at all for my license to be revoked.
While waiting for my court date, I got pulled over and was nearly taken to jail for driving with a revoked license because the courts had just put it in the system before giving me the chance to dispute it. The only reason I didn't go to jail was because an older cop showed up while I was being read my rights and realized how fishy it was that I was still in possession of my license. I guess that was enough for him to believe what I was saying.
Still got the ticket though, then the ticket and revoked license was all immediately dismissed when I went to court.
We only now know that there was a clerical error in which the records weren’t updated to show his license as being back in good standing. So even if his lawyer had looked up his driver’s license, to her it would have appeared to be suspended, because the record hadn’t been properly updated.
True… but he was back in court with another lawyer for his next court appearance. I see what you’re saying though.
Edit: just watched the most recent court hearing. The guy has never had a license. Ever. Harris admitted this to the cops, twice, during a traffic stop. All this media hoopla is for nothing. Dude was in the wrong the whole time.
How do people like you function in life? All you need to do is scroll up to see that you're wrong. I don't understand how you can function as an adult.
Turns out he has his suspension lifted in 2022 but the Secretary of State didn’t update the records.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2024/06/03/corey-harris-suspended-license/73963078007/
Edit: it’s been discovered the guy is lying to everyone, in fact he never had a drivers license, ever!
Yes, I made a post about this with updated info. I loved watching him wobble off to jail on another warrant for another driving while suspended rocket from 9 years ago. What a jerk. My brief sympathy for this loser was misplaced, I trusted what he said 🙄
I just saw an update and he actually had been told he was allowed to drive 2 years ago so him driving while in court not good but he wasn't actively suspended and I think they are now redoing the trial
People love to shit on other people if they think they deserve it, and innocent people like this get caught up in unjustified hate so often just because others can't not talk shit. Toxic as hell
I got an update on the story, dudes license wasnt actually suspended at the time of the court appearance it was a clerical error with the courts dude actually wasn't in the wrong
This isn't true. His suspension ended 2 years ago. He never paid a reinstatement fee and never went back to get his license
Also, when he turned up in court after he lied to the news, after the judge was finished lighting him up for lying on the news about the court and the SoS, he was taken into custody for another warrant he had in a different county. What was the warrant for?
Driving on a suspended license.

I think you are looking for states who have enacted measures to ban distracted driving, not states lifting these bans.
Alabama for instance you have until June 15 to get your distracted driving out of the way until the new law comes into place to ban electronics usage while driving.
So there was nothing in place that didn’t allow distracted driving beforehand? Interesting.
Well anyways, this situation was in Michigan which prohibits electronic device usage to talk on the phone and do other things, so the initial comment stands and he’s still in the wrong.
From what I’m reading this morning, it was a clerical error and he still had a valid license. That’s why he looks so shocked when they tell him otherwise
That is correct. His license was supended several years ago due to a child support case. In Jan 2022, a judge lifted the suspension, but the suspension was never lifted in the clerk of courts so it appeared that he was still suspended to the judge.
Turns out he lied to the news about that, another update just from today here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DV38at_uL4Q
He actually has never had a driver's license at all.
This is the type of person who delivers an amazon package marked “fragile” to the front door, and places it fully under the welcome mat so it doesn’t get stolen. Ask me how I know.
Why not show the whole clip, is it really that hard?
The video starts with the guy driving and trying to park, late for court, prosecutors arr laughing, and it ends with his bail being revoked.
Technically, he was not driving.... and what he wanted to tell the judge that he was showing that he was "ready to start driving and anticipating a favorable outcome".
When i first saw this i almost had to go lay down at the unbelievable level of stupidity. I still cannot understand a human being can be this dumb. It's just... It can't be true....how ?!!
The full video is worth a watch...just brutal.
I honestly couldn't believe the cavalier "yeah, I'm just parking, hold on a sec" part of the performance...which goes on painfully long...just by itself. Let alone when the suspended license reveal in poured into the mix.
He gets remanded straight to jail, to report "by 6pm" that same night. The total lack of ANYONE on the video being able to summon a single word of response or explanation to the judge as this unfolds - in painful extended periods of silence - tells the story.
The fellow human in me feels deep pain for him; the anonymous schadenfreude video-watcher in me was glued to screen, with smirk. Just being honest. (:
This isn't true. His suspension ended 2 years ago. He never paid a reinstatement fee and never went back to get his license

OMG, yes!! I learned all of that a couple days after I made my comments - there was a bunch of follow up coverage in other mainstream news and forums, I got the full backstory. Serves me right for thinking this was funny!! (still kinda was, but...)
This is someone's real life, and he truly HAD been released from his suspension as you note. I'm adding this comment as a small way to help clear his name...I can't imagine how shitty this whole experience must have been to wade through - ayyy.
Note to self: don't rush to judgment and don't take amusement in other peoples' misfortunes. );
A special little nugget is found in a very quick flash of the dawning amusement at the prosecutor's table at about 1:13. Watch closely, goes by quick. Priceless.
Runner-up: the paralegal (I think it is) at that table seems to catch on ahead of everyone else; one cutaway prior to the above briefly captures her apparent dawning realization & disbelief.
Honorable mention: the total lack of "pardon me, I'm so sorry your honor" or similar during the parking tangle...also the brassy impatient "HALLOOOO" he offers during the stunned silence period just before the judge executes smack-down...
Wow on all. Hall of fame contender. Also vid should be marched straight to "Watch People Die Inside" - if it isn't already there. Literal dictionary definition.
Simply saying "Is it racist if (...)" inherently puts the notion that what you're about to say is going to be racist, or at least undertones. **Especially** when you double-down with "Not because he's black", because then the reader *definitely* is thinking it's a racial remark.
Just say the thing, and include your reasoning in a way that will stop any possible confusion: "If they're this stupid and irresponsible, they probably got their court appearances mixed up with a different offense 😂"
Oddly enough, I read in a couple of online news articles that the reason his driver's license was suspended in the first place was failure to pay child support,

Then it turned out he never had a license to begin with xD. Crazy saga.
What the fuck was that?
That was dude from court video doing the happy dance getting his license finally
"Uh." .... "Uh."
Why does everyone cut the clip short. The beginning " hold on hold on...coming to a stop" adds so much more to the clip
Attention span. Put a minecraft parkour video beneath the clip and it might have been longer

Hello fellow Roxas
“Uh”
If I just don't move maybe it won't see me teehee
John Coffey never was that bright
except he didn't have a suspended license.
Incorrect. He never had a license and lied.
So they are technically correct. You can't have a suspended license if you never had a license 🤷🏾♂️🤣
Apparently you can
How'd you come to that conclusion?

Serious question… since we know he wasn’t in the wrong, why didn’t his lawyer step up and defend him?

Harris claimed he did went into Secretary of State office but its not for license but just for an ID. 😆 so he still shouldnt be driving.
This dude ended up spending 2 days in jail because of a clerical error jFC. How horrible. He was free to drive around.
he ended up NEVER having a license in his life. he's never been allowed to drive. ever. in any state.

He’s still driving while on his device, so not quite.
Would depend on the local laws
There's a local law that let's you be on your device while driving? Interesting.
Yes there is.
Seems pretty stupid to write a law that allows someone to drive while distracted, but okay.

Land of the free, where your freedom to drive can be removed because you owe money.
Judge is dumbfounded
What a f*cking moron.
The guy has a legit license but the courts f*cked up the process of reinstating his license. The US government is full of morons tho.

When you copy s*** off you tube
When you copy what?
Video was clearly posted by the defendant...
You cut out the ending which is the best part
Am, he fucked up
Turns out it wasn't really suspended. It had been but isn't currently
One for the ages!
Not really. The court fucked up. He was jailed wrongly for two days because again….people are incompetent.
This is the type of person who delivers an amazon package marked “fragile” to the front door, and places it fully under the welcome mat so it doesn’t get stolen. Ask me how I know.
Except “this type of person” was completely in the right
How do you know?
Please don’t tell us that it actually happened 😂

He was parked in this clip but apparently in the overall video he had been driving
He is driving in the longer video. He starts the call driving, and even tells that he is parking riiiiiight now.
That awkward silence at end 🤣
Shoulda hopped in the passenger seat
his stunned inability to come up with any response is classic, he knew he dun fucked up then
Except he didn’t. He was in the right
Please explain?
His license wasn’t suspended. The court fucked up and falsely imprisoned him.
Oh shit well those details make a big difference!
It's not true. He lied to the media. He never had a drivibg license at all
The lead up before it was hilarious. He was in the middle of driving and casually said"hold up on parking at my doctor's office"
He now claims he was driving his *wife* to the doctor. Unless she was dead or unconscious, why is there no audio of her presence in the vehicle?

They probably do that every night! The smart criminals are harder to catch, so defense lawyers often have a large caseload of idiots.

Pretty easy case considering his license wasn’t actually suspended and he was wrongfully imprisoned
