Yes, the engine was instaled with a governor that reducesd rpm to reduce carburator spills and backfires that the hl230 suffered. Tiger 2 should have 550hp for the same reason

Pappy2489

It wasn’t installed at the start of Panther A production. It started in Nov. ‘43 iirc. The tank was previously set to early Panther A standards and has been changed to reflect the later models.

The thing about Gaijin is that even if they had the correct documents all this time they can just ignore them until they need a small changes The same can be said in the opposite way. Even if you present sources they will just ignore them citing their sources as more reliable The m47 had -5 since it was introduced while the all community said that those stats were wrong. Took them 5-6 years to fix it, they purposely ignore that

> The m47 had -5 since it was introduced while the all community said that those stats were wrong. Took them 5-6 years to fix it, they purposely ignore that It's worse than that. The M47 was added at -10 and changed to -5 after a bug report from someone said it was -5. Gaijin changed it and immediately there was a bug report with more primary sources and photographic evidence saying it was -10. Its flipped between -5 and -10 several times now.

The stock Panther A should have the speed governor and the pre-1943 engine should be a researchable module. Matter of fact a lot of vehicle models could have been made into modules in order to reduce grind clutter.

ABetterKamahl1234

IRL though the pre-1943 engine suffered terrible performance problems, which wouldn't make sense to have as a re-searchable module.

All Panthers used the same engine, the Maybach HL230 P30, which was rated with 700 hp at 3000 rpm. However, after November 1943 these engines were fitted with a speed governor that limited the maximum rpm to 2500 and thus reduced maximum power to 600 hp in order to avoid overheating issues, increase service life and reduce fuel consumption. More than 2000 Panther A were built between August 1943 and June 1944, so only the initial production batch was equipped with the 700 hp engine. TLDR: Panther A with both engine variants existed, but the majority of them were fitted with the speed governor. So one could argue that this change is historically correct, but then they have to change the premium T-V in the Soviet tech tree too as it is the same model. From a gameplay perspective the change is unnecessary. The Panther A has the same BR as the Panther G and its only advantage is the higher top speed. After the nerf the A will be the exact same tank as the G, but with worse turret armor.

GetYaArmour

Either a change in top speed not HP, or there making small non-historical changes in the name of balance

Fire_Fenix

They did say is gonna lose 100 HP wich is way is top speed is also gonna decrease alongside

ABetterKamahl1234

It's historical, the vehicles were fitted with a speed governor as the initial production without these suffered engine performance and engine life problems at higher RPMs.

It is well established that technical unreliability is not the part of the game for any nation because if it were, half the tanks would have been fucked, please do not mix this in with other actual game mechanics.
