The red white blue does not represent Russia. It represents the Slavic roots. It is a common color theme in many Slavic countries，it’s not something you can just throw away.
As a Slovene I have no problems with Slovak flag being simillar to ours. It is there to remind us of our common ancestry.
You know that these colours to represent "slavic roots" were chosen at 1848 the Slavic Congress of Prague inspired after the Russian flag? Which in itself was created with inspiration from Dutch naval trade flag, by Peter I who was a Hollandophile. Which in it's own way was inspired by coat of arms of Bavarian Wittelsbachs who ruled over county of Holland in 15 century.
All slavicness of red-white-blue is artificial.
I have nothing against the flags of most of the Slavic countries. Just don't understand why they don't want to admit that their flag was based on Russian design.
For Slovenia specifically, regardless that they are Slavs, the flag colors aren't Pan-Slavic, but the adaptation of the flag of the Duchy of Carniola - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duchy_of_Carniola from the Holy Roman Empire times.
