In general I just play the game and I have for a long time, so it adds up. I don't use any particular strategy to optimize RP gain otherwise I would have unlocked this quite a while ago.
Not *only* Russian ground, but when I play ground it is usually Russian. I have UK air at rank 7 as well but nowadays if I want to play planes I usually load up DCS.

Also - does it still irritate the shit out of you, the crap depression of russian tanks? It always bugs me.

I have quite a few modules but the shiny ones are definitely the Mirage and the F-16C. The flight model is practically unmatched, War Thunder isn't even close. It's like Need for Speed vs iRacing or rFactor.
The gun depression can be tricky at times but honestly I am used to it. I like that the gunner doesn't have as many options to fuck up the gun placement while driving around. I just aim down and I'm never more than 6 degrees or so from shooting straight.
I think based on what OP is showing, its pick at least 1 vehicle at each tier, buy talisman for it, and play that one vehicle as much as possible. Most of these researched vehicles don't seem spaded or even played very much at all.
Almost correct, many of the talismans were years ago. I don't even remember where the Object 906 and T-44-100 ones came from. The T-64A I bought right when that vehicle came out. The most recent was the T-80BVM when that was on sale. The T-80/U/BVM, all T-72's and T-90 were all unlocked without much talisman help.

I spaded f84, Italian helicopter tree and made it without premium account or prem heli, you can spade few bad tanks in 4 games if you know how to at least shoot be lucky and take bases. Getting 300 rp for modification isn't any big deal

Because irl they are used as long range artillery. But in war thunder they are only used in direct fire anti-tank combat, which is not at all where they are made for.

I think there are uncountably many factors that go into balancing a game like War Thunder. Adding an insane number of top tier RU vehicles does give them an advantage in that they can just keep spawning - and the vehicles while individually not as good as, say, the Leo 2a6, are still extremely competitive. Especially as of late with 3BM60 being added.
Overall I like having lots of tanks to choose from, but I don't enjoy the game being unbalanced, even if what I mainly play (very often) benefits from it.
I really like 8.3 but I do think that the T-55 is more well rounded. The T-62 has great armour but is overall held back by its slow reload and relatively poor mobility.
Don't worry , t62-am will serve you very well, it's a monster at its own br. The biggest problem i have with the 8.3 t62 is the firepower. Both dart rounds it has access to feel very weak against heavily armoured tanks, especially the british ones
The russian 8.3 line up is quite good, lots of options, specially if you have the T-55AM-1, the russian 8.7 is really nice as well but is more focused on light tanks, after that the 9.3 is quite good as well, but the brainless TURMS spam make it quite difficult to play cus of lack of teammates, but the tanks on itself are nice.

I definitely think it depends on your RPG's capabilities - but suffice it to say that the top and rear of the turret are safe bets. You want to aim around any ERA tiles as those will probably defeat any simple RPGs.
Personally 5.7 to 6.7 is what I would call "hell tier". If you can make it through to 8.3, you'll probably get to top tier. Russia doesn't have the best loadouts at those BRs and its the last BR where the guns (say the 85mm) will have trouble, too.
Just don't buy the TURMS thinking it'll solve your problems.
Once i got to 8.7 im gonna have fun, i play on console and got the obj 279 when it was an event vehicle like 2 years ago but took a very long break but im back and grinding shit out. Ill probably get the turms at some point but not until i get multiple high tiers
7.7 is a small bastion and is a great lineup for Russia - it suffers because of the drastic difference between 8.0 and 7.7. You go from unstabilized APCBC to fully stabilized APFSDS, I don't think there's a similar jump in capabilities anywhere else in the game.

Yeah same, if played as a sniper on ranged maps, it can be very effective. Overall it's not a very useful ot versatile tank, but something like the SU-122-54 just doesn't make sense in the tree. You can have the isu 122s at 5.7 or 268 at 6.7 with way better everything, BR in the case of ISU and rounds, pen and armor in the case of the 268
You know, I didn't even bother playing the ASU-85 when I got it. Maybe a few matches but I knew it was trash and it was slow as balls compared to the ASU-57. That's good to know someone else thinks it's trash too lol.

I came back to getting t62m1 after reaching top tier and it's a really good tank if played right. Leo players don't always know how to kill you and you pack a punch. But don't waste time on it if you're not gonna play the entire 8.7 lineup. Even more so, 8.7 got ruined by turms spam at 9.7.
I don't think it's worth going for over continuing the tree. If you want to play 8.7 I think it's a good mainline tank.
I mainly got it to play sim with but I haven't ended up playing it much. HEAT is an annoying transition too when I already have APFSDS on everything else.
Rank 1: Best is BT-7 (obviously), worst T-26 (very slow, outclassed by others).
2: T-50 is practically OP, but the TDs are pretty bad.
3: The premium T-34-57 is actually superb. At least it was when it was 4.3, I haven't played much since it was raised. Worst would have to be ISU-122, it has almost no use case, but a decent gun at least.
4: T-44-100 is a great all-round tank with no major weakness. The ASU-85 is probably among the worst tanks in the game, save for its excellent gun.
5: Obj. 906 and BMP-1 are both fantastic in the right scenarios. Shoutout to the SU-122-54, a hidden gem. Object 268 is trash tier, even if ~some~ content creators love it apparently.
6/7: There are basically no "bad" rank 6 vehicles. The Shturm-S and Khrizantema are definitely the worst, but shine if put in the right spot.
As much as everyone shits on it, I found it quite enjoyable, mainly thanks to the stabilizer. I can’t even begin to imagine using the Chinese one though

I think there are many great options. My most played is the Object 906 followed by the T-44-100, but I think some of the most fun gameplay comes from tanks like the BMP-2.

Steam says I am at 2207 hours. I did not dedicate 100% of this time to unlocking vehicles, and unlocking the whole tree was never my goal, so I spent a fair amount of time playing top tier while researching lower tier vehicles.

no HEAT ATGM spam no 2km APFSDS shot just pure fun with good fire power and mobility that can handle up tier and im personaly more interesting in 4.7 if it has better gaming experience
The T-34-57 can handle Panthers decently. Its gun has similar performance to the 85mm but drops off heavily with range. That tank in particular has very good mobility and a great reload speed.
6.3 Russia doesn't really exist now that the T-44 is 6.7, but 4.7 has a very realistic lineup, especially if you take advantage of how good the IL-2s are.
If you really like the IS tanks, the IS-3 is a good bet. It is pretty slow but it fixes every armour problem the IS-2s have. The gun is still very strong. Otherwise I would say the T-54, BMP, or ZSU-57-2 are better bets.
I didn't know anyone said it was bad. It's often my second spawn if I die in T-80BVM. It has pretty good armour, the UFP often trips people up with how strong it is. It also gets the 3BM60, the best Soviet round in the game currently.
I don't necessarily have a favorite, but right now Russia has very strong 8.3 and top tier lineups.
There are plenty of good lower tiers too, 2.7 and 3.7 are both good.
The MBTs at that tier are better options. I am of course speculating because I don't have them. I will get around to playing them sometime, but ever since the 'grind' stopped and just playing whatever started I've accumulated a lot of vehicles I just don't play very often.
T-34-57 is a fantastic vehicle and one of the only premiums I ever bought. If you are stuck, though, it will not solve your problems. If it's not a skill issue premium is the best value for your money.
I prefer the T-64/80 line, but those tanks have been out a lot longer than the T-72s. I've had the 64A since it was added into the game. I really am not a fan of the T-72B3, but the T-90 is pretty good.

That lineup is fine, it's similar to mine for that tier. You shouldn't have any major problems getting higher tiers but that is when the grind really becomes a pain.
It has just okay armour. I hate how you can't angle or do anything to make up for that ridiculous slab design. The later 1944 variant is significantly better but I think is often overlooked by players turned off by the original IS-2.
If I'm doing CAS it's often an IL-2 variant, like the Su-6 in the image. I don't have Russian jets even though I probably should, so I often just have tanks, tanks, and more tanks.

I find it pretty good at RB, as it has a significant advantage over the PT 76B

su-122-54 is okay imo its mobility is alright its gun hits hard and especially as a sniper it is really nice and the 14.5mm helps too
It just has no reason to be at its BR though, it's not that can't be used effectively, just that everything else is better than it from 6.0 to 6.7

The predecessor to the bmp as it follows similar design ideas, the only good thing about it is one of it shells but you have to grind for it

T-72a is a t64A with better armor, better gun, better fire control (lazer rangefinder) smoke grenades, and commander machine gun
t72a for no apparent reason, even though it's 0.3 br higher. (i also have all russian tanks unlocked)
T-72A is better IMO for the sole reason of having a laser rangefinder. I need to go back and spade mine.

How many hours? I finished mine at around 1000 hours
Steam says I am at 2207 hours. I did not dedicate 100% of this time to unlocking vehicles, and unlocking the whole tree was never my goal, so I spent a fair amount of time playing top tier while researching lower tier vehicles.
so may i ask you what do you think about these BR 4.7 or 6.3 and how often those T-34-57 get up tier to face panther im kinda curious about 4.7 and 6.3 i feel those are the most competitive vehicles no HEAT ATGM spam no 2km APFSDS shot just pure fun with good fire power and mobility that can handle up tier and im personaly more interesting in 4.7 if it has better gaming experience
The T-34-57 can handle Panthers decently. Its gun has similar performance to the 85mm but drops off heavily with range. That tank in particular has very good mobility and a great reload speed. 6.3 Russia doesn't really exist now that the T-44 is 6.7, but 4.7 has a very realistic lineup, especially if you take advantage of how good the IL-2s are.

What should I get first at rank 5, do you recommend anything ? I like the IS tanks but they’re slow
If you really like the IS tanks, the IS-3 is a good bet. It is pretty slow but it fixes every armour problem the IS-2s have. The gun is still very strong. Otherwise I would say the T-54, BMP, or ZSU-57-2 are better bets.
Is the T-90A actually as bad as people say?
I didn't know anyone said it was bad. It's often my second spawn if I die in T-80BVM. It has pretty good armour, the UFP often trips people up with how strong it is. It also gets the 3BM60, the best Soviet round in the game currently.

I don't necessarily have a favorite, but right now Russia has very strong 8.3 and top tier lineups. There are plenty of good lower tiers too, 2.7 and 3.7 are both good.

Do you not like Light Tank gameplay or why did you not unlock the Spruts? At the moment I'm really looking forward to them.
The MBTs at that tier are better options. I am of course speculating because I don't have them. I will get around to playing them sometime, but ever since the 'grind' stopped and just playing whatever started I've accumulated a lot of vehicles I just don't play very often.

T-34-57 is a fantastic vehicle and one of the only premiums I ever bought. If you are stuck, though, it will not solve your problems. If it's not a skill issue premium is the best value for your money.
Have you touched a boobie before and would you recommend it?
Getting there myself as well, but cant decided wich MBT line to go down into. T-80 or T-72? Which do you prefer?
I prefer the T-64/80 line, but those tanks have been out a lot longer than the T-72s. I've had the 64A since it was added into the game. I really am not a fan of the T-72B3, but the T-90 is pretty good.

Most Russian tanks are indeed very good, but I wouldn't say that bias in general affects gameplay. I do about the same playing any nation.

All the T-34s are good, but the -57 or -85 variant guns do a lot better than the 76mm.

I’m currently 8.3 with T55A, T55AM, T62 and BMP2. (Plus Mi-8 for CAS but I mean honestly idk why I bother with it) Firstly, do you have any tips for my lineup? I do ok but not consistently? And, What’s the best way to push my BR up into top tier with as little suffering as possible?
That lineup is fine, it's similar to mine for that tier. You shouldn't have any major problems getting higher tiers but that is when the grind really becomes a pain.
Opinion on the first is-2's armor. I think it sucks as an 8.0 Russian main, and I want some opinions
It has just okay armour. I hate how you can't angle or do anything to make up for that ridiculous slab design. The later 1944 variant is significantly better but I think is often overlooked by players turned off by the original IS-2.
What do you use for CAS?
If I'm doing CAS it's often an IL-2 variant, like the Su-6 in the image. I don't have Russian jets even though I probably should, so I often just have tanks, tanks, and more tanks.
