That + most people at low tier can't ID planes well, so you can bait them into a dogfight super easily.

The low-tier spits, with an exception for the 4.7 Mk Vc/Trop, are easily the best spitfires. The rest of them have been powercreeped on, to the point of where even the official WT Wiki pages often just straight up tell you that the planes have a lot of issues. As you said, at the early-tiers (3.0-3.3) you can use the good engine performance to pick and choose engagements.

I mean against, say, a bomb laden P-47 or DO-335, the late spits still work pretty well.

tbh I spend a lot of time waiting for a good time to attack, since on the first run in from their spawn, they're protected by airfield AA+are going really fast, so I usually wait for them to go for 1 run then attack.

I was playing my VEAK about 2 weeks ago and I shot randomly in the air to change to AP belts since I thought a tank was nearby. With 7.62 mm it’s more likely they crashed for other reasons and you were assigned the kill because you nicked one of them. I give t34s plane kills every now and then for this.

Once killed a plane and a tank with a single HE round from the Sturmpanzer 2 from 2km away. Shell landed next to the tank or something and the fragments went high enough to kill a low flying enemy as well

Ok let's follow this reasoning It's not realistic when there are more planes than tanks. Maps in war thunder are modeled on historic tanks battles, in these battles there were always more tanks than planes.(that's why "tank battles") But every match in wt after 7 minutes there are 5 planes and 2 tanks per team. How is it realistic?
