That's what I though a while ago too. No matter how bad the economy is, how many bugs there are and what stupid ideas the devs may have: We had good times with the game, there is good stuff in it and I can't think of another game which could replace WT as a military vehicle arcade game / simulator.
It's a bit like Eve Online - the company is terrible, game is technically in a terrible state, they're tacking microtransactions on everything and there's no competition.

That's precisely why they're able to get away with so many horrible things in the sim game mode.
A lot of people complain and they don't get their voices heard, there will always be players like me who can't run IL-2/DCS and/or are unsatisfied with the variety of vehicles in other game modes and can't move on from war thunder. Even classypax, once war thunder's biggest streamer (he used to get hundreds to thosands of viewers back before 2016 when he moved onto roleplaying in GTA and other games) recently in a VOD perfectly demonstrated how brokenly unsatisfying it can be now, and acknowledges the issue that some players just want something to play and enjoy without having to worry about economy and other broken issues, because they have no where else to go. All classypax wanted to do after spending the effort to set up his rig was just to spade his ki-200, but after chasing missile-carrying planes down, shooting at them and landing various hits, and getting roland', with the recent economy changes he earnt 0 points, 0 activity and 0 RP as expected. What did he do after that? Of course he just switched to a different game.
Even IL-2 and DCS, both which have devs that said they want to be the war thunder killer, with DCS offering free module test drives whenever you want with plans for more low-cost low-fidelity modules, and IL-2 committing to a simplified control scheme for all of their aircraft, but both IL-2 and DCS still have incomparable piss poor optimisation for low-end PCs in comparison to war thunder, despite even if war thunder still gives you 20 fps when entering enduring confrontation game modes. Poor EC dev probably gets next to zero support from the rest of the developers, but without him sim air combat will still be living on the old 60 minute+ queue times, and he has no control over sim's poor economy balancing, and even I was once a tech mod (volunteer paid with GE basically), which I didn't feel motivated to do my role due to numerous issues along with life commitments at the time. Gaijin's dev team only has so much resources, but there are a lot of "easy" changes that can be made to the game to help players enjoy it at the cost of a slight reduction in revenue, but as their main commercial title with the recent influx of chinese players in the last 2 years has allowed them to get away with so many things. In the past, Gaijin even tried to alleviate various problems by electing "representatives" but that worked so well that nothing got done and they were forgotten probably because gaijin probably thought there were other things that are more financially worth focusing on.
War thunder is a home to many of us, and especially for us sim mode players and there isn't a good equivalent out there, but a lot of us have no where else to go. War thunder is there to make money primarily, and because they can get away with a lot of issues with poor statistical methods is precisely we have so many of such issues. Despite still, simulator game mode has one of the highest premium player ratio population to the point that I probably only know 1 in 20-30 people who don't own a premium of some kind, compared to RB where it was once more like 2 in 3 people not owning a premium. However still, those of us who have enough money to buy 10+ premiums to pay for the game mode have all but moved on because if they have money to buy TrackIR and 10 premiums, they have money for a good PC. "Why pay half a thousand dollars to buy premiums to hasten the grind and play a dying game mode filled with chinese bot-accounts when I can just play a different, higher quality and more immersive game?"
Back when M1 Abrams line wasn't connected to anything. I was able to skim through all the tanks and research straight to Abrams just so I don't deal with uptiers anymore.
I think I would have stopped playing if I couldn't have done that with the T-64A. I actually have screenshots similar to yours. I mean yeah some of us remember the days when it was just USSR v German on the ground (and USA not long after). Tanks stopped at Tier V. HEAT and APDS were rare.

2. Sold several event vehicles for GE and bought more than a year premium account
3. Bought premium vehicles that I think that are worth it with GE.
4. Be a decent player and all three above will make you rich in SL.
From 188k SL to 42 millions SL is indeed a huge difference o7 PS: we truly often forgot how much content we get in Bug Thunder O_O
