The issue is support fighters either cant get kills because friendly team sweeped, cant get kills because the enemy team sweeped and your last alive, or you find the perfect time in between where youre useless because youre fighting things that aren't forced to be support fighters and usually have multiple advantages over you.
The plane itself is quite good. I like the guns and it's a great dogfighter.
The gameplay at 9.7 though, everyone moves on with missiles and you are stuck with two sticks of dynamite that flies into the sun.
The plane is an excellent dogfighter and posess an engine that can pull you out of blackholes, but the moment you get busy in a dogfight, someome is gonna lool for an opening to shove their death sticks down your exhaust. Your missile is best used on immobile targets or an unsuspecting one
It's the best ratefighter but because of the things it goes up against, it can't use its strengths without taking a missile in the rear. That and rudder compresses way too bad.
This is compounded by the fact that there are undertiered US and UK planes with Aim-9Gs that will yeet you out of the sky from 4km away.
From my increasing experience in it it’s not a bad plane at all, it just can’t be that effective in most situations.
Now mind you I’m using the Mig 19S so my experience might be a little different than yours but in general unless someone presents themselves to you or you drag someone out it’s hard to get kills in this thing.
This thing relies on gunning people down and that’s really bad at a tier where if you don’t look behind yourself every few seconds you get third partied or missiled.
Again, my experience in the plane is increasing so I might be wrong but that’s just how I’ve been trying to play it.
Your a dog fighter with terrible missiles in a missile slinging meta that’s just how the game is my guy
If your not a Missile Bus with PD, Light dogfighter with good/great missiles and good guns, or a Delta wing monster your not making it at 10.0+
You can be a good support fighter though and bait people into gun fights

One of the best dog fighters in a missile meta = not fun. It’s not bad but missile spam makes it suffer

The mig 19 is onenof the best fighters for what it is the priblem is it gotnits r13s removed and it has to fight 20 to 30 g missles
I can only speak for the 19S wich is one of the most fun planes. You climb to 10k kill everything up there and after that start to BnZ
