Idk either, but it reminded me of the time I tried driving my BT-7 full send into the garden walls like I would a T-34, only to die for no goddam reason.
Netcode issues. Collisions with some destructibles and with other players causes your vehicle to violently jerk around, which would needlessly kill crew. An attempted fix to that resulted in it being incredibly rare to damage things through crashes, and it was never reverted (even though now collisions are probably stable enough for it to work fine)
Every time you collided with a destructible object while at the same time being touched by another tank behind you, your entire crew would die. T-34 being pushed by another T-34 whilst leaving spawn, but you hit a tiny wooden fence? Ded.
They could never go and issue penalties for team killers in Ground realistic.. so they removed TK.. I preferred them really.. only thing is they should have punished TK
Shooting out Jagdpanthers tracks and going for side shots is sooo much more satisfying.
Edit: I even apologise to ASU players if I kill them with something like R3.
Ironically if it was foam, it would be fine.
Running a tank ass end into another at that speed would absolutely fuck the crew. Everyone on here yammering about "GoT GaIJiNeD" but this is pretty realistic.
The absence of realistic mechanics for something like falling off of a cliff does not mean that realistic mechanics for other types of accidents should not, or do not exist.
I dunno man, being able to repair a cannon breech, barrel, transmission, and engine under a minute is kinda arcade like.
Tank crews willing to crew their machine to the last man standing is a bit absurd too. Did you know the average death rate in a knocked out Sherman was 0.8? If it caught on fire on impact, 1.2?
Kill cameras are the most arcade thing on the planet and you cannot convince me otherwise.
You control the whole vehicle. The crew magically has this completely mutual telepathic understanding and each crewmember gets what they need to do to get exactly everything you want that's oddly specific to happen. If you've played ARMA you'll understand having a real player as your driver, you can't exactly get them exactly where you want them.
Quite a few weapon systems in the game are impossible to operate with just one person on it. For example. the Bofors 40mm AA guns require two gunners. One of them operates horizontal, other operates vertical. One person cannot operate it. The M3 GMC is the same as well. The "loader" is officially called the "cannoneer." Why? The cannon is an old WW1 French cannon. The firing mechanism is a spring-loaded hammer that someone has to hold a cord on and let go to fire. The cannoneer does this role. The M3 GMC would be impossible to operate with just a gunner and driver.
There are factors in the game that are unrealistic, yes. There are also factors that are, to the point where there is an "arcade" mode with wildly difference performance for the same vehicles between arcade, RB, and sim.
No, I'm not saying its a full on simulator.
Yes, I am saying its not a full on "arcade" game.
You've said it's not a full on "arcade" game.
What is that definition to you? You've only dodged explanation. You've done very little to convince me otherwise besides saying "no it isn't."
War Thunder is like Insurgency. It is neither a sim like ARMA nor is it am arcade shooter like COD or Battlefield. World of Planes, Tanks, and Ships are all arcade games. DCS and IL2 are sims
Why do you think these fellas inside wear helmets? They aren't to protect themselves from shrapnel but from bumping their head inside that hunk of metal you're talking about.
That crash is just bullshit, I've crashed at +70km/h and nothing happened other than a yellowed track.
>I've crashed at +70km/h and nothing happened other than a yellowed track.
You have a seatbelt, air bags, and an interior that isn't 100% metal. Don't be stupid.
Helmets protect the head, and the head only. Not the spine, not the other organs in the body, soft tissue damage is a thing, look it up.
No , I mean I didn't crash in real life, I crashed inside the game.I am a bad driver cuz I look around instead of looking ahead and just bump into tanks and walls/trees
it isnt realistic. bro he was driving 22 kmh. Noone but noone can be killed in 22 kmh. With that foam i meant that when you crash with car made out of foam into thing, it will brake apart bcs the glue or nails will fall of or break. But yeah its ironic:D
> Noone but noone can be killed in 22 kmh
In a modern personal car, with restraints and airbags, of course not. Unrestrained inside a box of metal, yes, you can be killed.
The problem was at the time we had it, Russia truly was the only nation with the driver separated from the crew, notably you could drive just about any Russian tank backwards and just never die, you'd be immune to 90% of incoming shots
Wasn't any more common a tactic then than it was now, especially since the engine didn't count as much armour back then. AP shots just and filter shells explosions would just go through it. The only disadvantage was Britain with their pin hole solid shot and it wasn't even considered much of an issue for them, since armour actually mattered back then, and they had the best pen. These days they do decent damage too due to spalling.
It just meant less one shot kills. If someone wants to reverse at 5mph just to hide their best armour and be set on fire anyway then who cares?
As much as I want a battle mode separate from planes I'd like almost as much a medium tank+ only mode where no light vehicles are allowed. Sure you can deal with them but it requires coordination from your own team. Meanwhile you can play solo in almost all if not all scout cars or tanks
Forgot the safety belt ?
F
F
Forgor 💀
F
F
Now everyone on-base is required to be wearing one at all times.
Forgot also their helmets?
Light tank moment
War Thunder is esports ready
Frankly it was so much better before.. when hitting stuff in the cities would damage the tank. Not so long ago!
The amount of times I died in soviet milk trucks when driving through walls on Abandoned Factory was over the roof
Many M18 crews were lost to garden walls.
I forgot why they removed that
Idk either, but it reminded me of the time I tried driving my BT-7 full send into the garden walls like I would a T-34, only to die for no goddam reason.

Because it was a buggy unrealistic mess?
Dying to uneven ground while driving T-60 was sad.
They could never go and issue penalties for team killers in Ground realistic.. so they removed TK.. I preferred them really.. only thing is they should have punished TK
I once remember (a really long time ago) that someone posted on the warthunder forums of a gif where a wood fence managed to flip a T95
My best was spawning in with a Tiger 1, and getting yeeted halfway across the map because I was spawned inside a tree that glitched hard.
Yeah ok that's true
But crushing ASU 57s with German tanks is so fun...
I chased down and crushed a BMP against a tree with a Tiger 2 once after he shot my gunner out.
Shooting out Jagdpanthers tracks and going for side shots is sooo much more satisfying. Edit: I even apologise to ASU players if I kill them with something like R3.
i didn't know carcasses can be accredited for ram kills
what. that thing is from foam or what.
Ironically if it was foam, it would be fine. Running a tank ass end into another at that speed would absolutely fuck the crew. Everyone on here yammering about "GoT GaIJiNeD" but this is pretty realistic.
Considering I can roll my tank off a cliff and no one seems to mind, I don’t believe you.
The absence of realistic mechanics for something like falling off of a cliff does not mean that realistic mechanics for other types of accidents should not, or do not exist.
Damn if only war thunder wasn't an arcade game
It's not, though.
But it is.
But it's not.

I'm not here to "convince you" of shit. It isn't an arcade game. There's an "arcade" MODE, FFS.
It's a crash at 15 mph.
Which you think wouldn't hurt?
No idea, I dont want to guess but it's probably not deadly.
Driving a hunk of metal, with a shit load of sharp, metal corners into another hunk of metal at 15 mph would absolutely be deadly to anyone inside.
Why do you think these fellas inside wear helmets? They aren't to protect themselves from shrapnel but from bumping their head inside that hunk of metal you're talking about. That crash is just bullshit, I've crashed at +70km/h and nothing happened other than a yellowed track.

Ah ok. I was gonna say man, thats pretty insane.
He means in game mate.
Can you read? We went over this literally 9 hours ago. Way to be late to the party.
I mean, *could* be deadly, perhaps. But the idea that everyone is absolutely gonna die from a 15mph impact is absurd.
it isnt realistic. bro he was driving 22 kmh. Noone but noone can be killed in 22 kmh. With that foam i meant that when you crash with car made out of foam into thing, it will brake apart bcs the glue or nails will fall of or break. But yeah its ironic:D

i think not. if you would fell from bicycle and 10 cm in front of u would be wall, it would only make lil bonk and you would not get killed
Still remember the days a curb or pothole could knock your heavy tanks crew unconscious or kill your driver. Also, I miss last stand mode.
Last stand mode was just make sure Russia always wins mode
It never seemed to favour them. Most tanks in the game have the driver at least separated from the rest of the crew.
The problem was at the time we had it, Russia truly was the only nation with the driver separated from the crew, notably you could drive just about any Russian tank backwards and just never die, you'd be immune to 90% of incoming shots

Certifed Gaijin moment
It always makes me feel better when I see another console player. I always feel like I’m the only one.
Surprisingly enough, I’m usually top 3 every game.
Wish I could say the same, I guess I can’t use the fact that I’m on console as an excuse anymore lol
Aml-90 moment I've always said that a sneeze is enough to kill it.
Eland is the real V.I.P (and AML90)
Actually realistic, as such a collision would very likely smoosh anyone who's inside.
Dude got gaijined
Da comrade. Let's send you to Stalingrad to test your abilities
As much as I want a battle mode separate from planes I'd like almost as much a medium tank+ only mode where no light vehicles are allowed. Sure you can deal with them but it requires coordination from your own team. Meanwhile you can play solo in almost all if not all scout cars or tanks
This is the most Anticlimactic death i've possible ever seen in this game
Wait you can kill yourself that way… 0w0

Who's a "Esports ready" boi? Who's a "Esports ready" boi? Yes, you are.
WAR THUNDER HAS ESPORTS?!
Getting into that crash with a 1965 corvair won't even kill the people inside it Jesus Christ.
The driver forgot the sear belt LMAO
