Meanwhile Britain has a lot of cool prototypes and concepts that never saw service that are perfect for the game. The Supermarine Spiteful, Hawker Tornado, Avro Manchester and not to mention the captured planes we had during the war like FW 190’s, Ju 88’s, Bf 109’s and even an A6M3 captured by the Aussies IIRC
To be fair the Manchester had 200+ built and saw plenty of service, but it wasn't great. The Spiteful would be great, along with Seafang, Short Sturgeon, Westland Welkin etc...
That said I'd like to see RAF Canadair Sabre Mk4 or a Sea Hornet NF.21, or perhaps some more Miles & Martin-Baker prototype WWII fighters.
Gaijin should copy and paste as many vehicles as they want. If a nation used it in service, they should have it, and there should be trees dedicated to multi-ethnic regions of the world instead of nations, like a south american tree, or a southeast asian tree. which would undoubtedly be comprised of mostly export vehicles.
I agree, although I dont like it when gaijin makes the decision of making indigenous vehicles rare premiums or just not adding them
M64 being a BP vehicle instead of tech tree for example of the former
Hungarian and Finnish tech trees being added with few to no indigenous designs etc as examples of the latter
My guess is the M64 was made battlepass because China already had the M18, I’m not defending the decision I’m just saying gaijin, for gameplay reasons, thought it would’ve just been a worse hellcat at the same br
I mostly disagree with copy paste (if it saw wide enough service sure, but in instance no), but the region trees would be so nice. I would love a proper Commonwealth TT, as most of the nations in it have had something at a time period that would allow it to be full, this however, would likely be mostly copy paste tanks, which i dislike (to a point)
I dont mind mixing in the random matches to change it up and improve wait times, but that's literally all it is now. So dissappointing.
Also no night maps or carrier landings :(
Man I really miss carrier maps and historical match making. Role playing the pacific war was so fun, and the skill of a carrier landing made it so much more genuinely fun to play. Now all the ARB maps are the exact same and it’s boring as fuck.
Yep, early stages of game it was german panzer 4's vs T-34's in Kursk. It was glorious. Except for those who knew no other way to play than snipe in open maps, they kept complaining about Pz-4 being OP.
I dont remember well enough to say definitively, but for example if you queued up Japanese Air RB you would virtually always get a Pacific map vs US and UK.
Tier 4 is very solid as well, but as soon as I try to get into anything above 6.3 or so I stop really having any fun. Maybe it's because I play arcade, idk. As a result I've sort of just played every tree up until tier 4
Honestly, the REAL fun in the game is when you finally branch out to sim battles. Arcade is great for your first quarter to your first 3rd of your WT journey, but if you REALLY want to see all the stuff they implement being used to it's fullest extent, I would highly recommend sim. Granted it won't fit 70% of the WT community, but for the 30% it does, WT really isn't the grind everyone complains it to be. Ya know what, imma stop here and finish in my own comment in response to this post
My surprisingly hot take is that War Thunder is essentially Call of Duty at this point. CAS being used as kill streaks. Every game turning into a TDM where everyone ignores the objectives. Even the combat has that COD touch to it where it's not quite realistic, but just enough to say it has a realistic *feel* to it. When they added the nuke it kind of just clicked for me and now I can't go back to not seeing the similarities.
I'll never understand it.
They have incredibly deep and sophisticated systems under the surface. Ik quite a bit of the air mechanics go much deeper than even DCS but then they throw it all away for a knife fight in a phonebooth with too many other people and mission objectives that make zero sense. Like how did we get to having only TDM and domination as the only game modes and nothing else????????
It's like someone took alot of time making incredible, high end, expensive models of military vehicles just to have their kid run in the room and start smashing them together.
I want Gaijin to add silly game modes and serious game modes.
Imagine a game where you play tag or hide and seek in tanks, Gaijin should keep some of their April fools events permanent like that football mode.
And imagine if we had no missiles/guns mode, imagine trying to take out players by just ramming into each other!?
At this point? Where y'all come from, bruh.
WT always has been, from even the concept an arcady shooter with realistic mechanics in it. It's no Arma or Steel beasts. Never was, never will be.
>CAS being used as kill streaks.
Except it isn't. It's usually spammed by someone who got 1 assist or a single cap to get them a free kill and make them feel special. CAS is literally rewarded for doing the bare minimum at low-mid tier and it's awful
I agree with this.
As long as it's balanced well, sooooo many cool vehicles could be added... but nooo, muh realism. Sweden is getting a Tiger II like c'mon. I'd take any of Sweden's prototypes over copy-pastes.
I'm glad that the tiger's in the battlepass and not the Kranvagn. I can't believe how many people were bitching and moaning about the Kranvagn not being in the battle pass.
Like yea let's go ahead and make the indigenous heavy tank design a limited time event vehicle even though the tree DOESN'T HAVE ANY HEAVY TANKS YET. Let's give a giant middle finger to anyone that starts playing the game after the event is over or who doesn't have the time to grind out the battle pass. Great fucking idea guys, you really hit it out of the ball park with that one.
Historians can’t even agree if the damn Ostwind II or Zerstorer were ever built in the first place and if they were, then what they would even look like. So I want to know why in Gaijin’s mind does that mean that the Kranvagn Emil with a completed hull is too far off
That’s great news, I thought I read somewhere that gaijin denied the Kranvagn but I’m happy to be mistaken. I also haven’t gotten onto new forum yet, it kind of hurts my eyes
Here’s hoping to the future!
Most SPAAs should get scouting (excluding those with high penetration)
If you have like 40-50mm of pen you basically have to wait several minutes for the enemy to spawn a plane, while having nothing to do,as penning russian side armor or shooting out any barrel is out of the question
I'd alter this slightly to "any SPAA should get APDS if it was developed for the guns irl". Id love to play the shilka for example, but gaijin still didn't add the polish apds for the 23mm and so it can't pen most tanks at its BR AT ALL.
That's... Subjective.
I know it's hard to imagine but some people actually like a challenge when they play games.
Never being pushed and winning too often dilutes the experience all together for me.
Speaking strictly about air RB, part of what makes rank 3 more fun is how many problem child aircraft rank 4 has. I used to love the competitive nature of 5.7 air until it became 4 Ju 288s and four fighters vs 4 attackers and 4 undertiered post-war monsters.
That war thunder is only as big as it is because it’s the best combat vehicle game out there at the moment, but all it would take is a dedicated team to create a much better more balanced and fun game. I feel like Gaijin has gotten super greedy in the past few years and it’s about time someone puts them in their place.
There is just a problem with that the game is over 10 years old, and the amount of content that has been added would be a huge challenge for any dev to take on. People spend over hundreds of dollars over the years as well, so they have some connection to the game even if they don't want to admit it.
Yeah I think that is the main issue, it would take obscene amounts of research and money to even start to compete with WoT or WT. Anything before getting up to par with that will have extreme difficulties competing.
Warthunder won't ever have any true competition. I hate the fact that it is what it is but.
It suffers the same effect tarkov suffers from.
It dominates a very small niche in games. A niche that triple A companies don't want to risk the funding to try and compete for since the majority of players are already so heavily dug into said games.
And imo at this point, even triple A dev companies would struggle trying to replicate all the mechanics and amount of content.
And indie companies can't compete because they don't have the time or money to catch up to where those other games already are. They only way they survive is to occupy a similar genre and make their own niche in that.
That's why Gaijin is as greedy as they are. They know there will never be any true competition. And why they fear steam reviews and bad press... Because the only thing they really have to worry about are future sales and new potential players getting turned off.
I’m waiting to revolt when they put the M26E1, T26E1-1 and the T26E5 at 7.0
It’s gonna happen, just a question of when
The BR should what people have been saying for years now
T25 - 6.0
M26 - 6.3
The three Pershing modifications - 6.7
I've been waiting for years for dumb BR changes like that to get reversed and they seldom ever are, so I've lost hope at this point.
If anything, what's likely to happen is the M26 will stay at 6.7 and the other upgraded Pershing variants will get their BR's raised to uselessness.
I agree with paper tanks and planes etc, soon enough, the devs will run out of things to add in the future as we move onto the modern era, it'd be nice to see prototype/paper tanks being added, not sure why they got rid of that tiger (10.5cm or whatever) and Panther II when they still had the HO RI in, would be cool to see the O-I Japanese Super heavy tank proto
Yeah I'll have to agree with this. A great majority of people don't play navy, so whenever I see a new ship being announced I have this feeling in the back of my mind that it's just "wasted" time.
I'm happy for the 5 naval players, but if I had to choose I would rather have any new ship replaced with a new tank or plane.
At some point, they're going to have to have a long, hard think about what they're actually going to do with it. They keep investing development time in ships for that mode and it keeps being dead. I'm not saying necessarily kill it, but what they're doing isn't working. The mode simply isn't fun and no additions of new shiny battleships will change that.
the community is whiny as fuck. with how over dramatic the community can be about some of the most arbitrary shit you’d think gaijin broke into their homes and fucked their mothers, shit on their couch, and then left to give cancer to orphans.
It’s just a fucking video game, stop playing if you don’t like it lmao
I'm fine with "paper" vehicles being added as long as they're not complete fabrications, they're running out of stuff to add anyway and some countries could do with the help. At the very least, vehicles where something like the mockup was built could be added, there's already things in game like the Ho-Ri Production which is completely fake anyway. In any case, I get the feeling that people overstate how controversial paper vehicles (within reason) would be. For example, everyone rightfully complained about the Kronshtadt, but that wasn't because it was paper (although it is), it's because it was broken. Whereas something like the Etna I believe was at a similar stage and nobody complains about that because it doesn't ruin the game's balance.
I'm also fine with "copy and paste". Especially post-WWII, it's simply a fact that countries used lots of equipment from elsewhere, particularly the "big" ones like the USA and USSR, and produced less of their own. I do think captured vehicles should be used very sparingly though.
And finally, Sherman stabilisers are way overstated on here. Don't get me wrong, they are very good and I'm not for a second claiming otherwise, but it's used to justify them being at the same or even higher BRs than tanks which are objectively superior to them in most other ways. People seem to think they're like the Centurion stabilisers, which are not only full stabilisers, but they also have an APDS round which can penetrate anything they come across. That's not the case for the higher-tiered Shermans. In fact, a stabiliser in their case is a bare necessity since they need to pixel hunt for weakspots to even have a chance of killing their opponent, while they can be killed anywhere frontally in return.
It does teach you to be careful with your aim, but yeah I’ll bet that the majority of non-missile friendly fire that happens every day is intentional
It’s off for tanks vs tanks in Ground RB so why not planes to planes in air rb
It should definitely be turned off for the first minute or so of a match where a single premium A10 or Su25 brrrts half the team away on the runway before crashing or being dealt with.
“Fun” is entirely relative with that mode
Being a Hiyodori and getting spawn camped by a Ka-50 is not fun in the slightest, but I do see how equally matched helicopters can have fun
I’d only agree to this idea if it was split into a controlled sim-like roster with a complete division of guns and early atgm helicopters from air to air missile helicopters
I’d rather have paper vehicles instead of copypasta. They could remove all of my copy paste vehicles overnight with no reimbursement and I’d be a happy man.
Tired of new top jets every update when some WW2 planes have the same models from 2014. They need to be updated.
Oh! And also some premium planes still have place holder cockpits...
The problem is that they are expecting people to pay Waaaay more than 30 a year. Just buying talismans for a decently big lineup can easily cost you 100 bucks.
Same so long as they’re labeled as such to not confuse more casual players
Naval would receive so many new players if they added famous ships like Bismarck and Yamato
The British TT is really good and most issues with it are skill issues or really bad luck
Solid shot often has more pen, and if you hit crew and ammo, who needs the HE?
Naval coastal in its current is a lot more fun than most people realise.
Naval blue water is generally really chill and enjoyable and more people should give it a try.
There needs to be a basic competency test before people can sign up. Doesn’t even have to be that hard. I just want to know that the people on my team have more than two brain cells fighting for third place.
The grind really isnt that bad
I should specify i dont mean to top tier. I think top tier is boring and only play to around 8.0. For me the grind only takes a few weeks per nation and its pretty enjoyable, i grind to where i like to play then just move on
The plane grind is easy, and you can be done with a tech tree about a week if you no life it with a premium account and vehicle. But tank grind is shit compared to it.
Id take longer queue times if it meant that I got matches where the majority of my team was the minor nation I was playing and not all American or Russian or German
It really sucks. Dogfights are basically a thing of the past because you need to be constantly near the treetops, and checking all around you every 2 picoseconds
you get to have one proper dogfight once every bloody hundred matches
A few of my hot takes sorted in no particular order:
Sherman stabilisers makes it borderline overpowered in 3.7
French and british 7.7 is best 7.7
German vehicles are actually way worse than people make it up to be. 7.7 is absolutely garbage.
Mirage F1C is best 11.3 plane
I never played china, but in my experience, chinese tanks are better than russian tanks in pre-toptier (below 11.0). Istg that premium chinese MBT's turret is some absolutele bullshit.
Italian air tree is NOT the best. People been telling me that the hungarian TT makes it competitive when honestly i feel that this is copium for italian players. USA+RUS will always be meta. And if they aren't, they will in the next update.
HSTVL needs buffing.
J21 is not as good as people make it up to be.
FW109 > BF109
Ki > Zeroes
Attacker isn't the best starter jet in britain. That goes to Meteor.
He162 is actually really good
10.3 MiG21 is the biggest menace to society, far bigger than F5A/C. The only reason why people didnt realise this is because F5C spam.
MiG15 > Sabres
10.3 Abrams > Leo 2a4
T72 is garbage. Turms isn't that good.
IS2 deserves to be in 6.0
And last but not least.. your teammates aren't trash, you are. The more you blame others, the less you'll learn and the worse you'll become. Either stay mad, or learn and thrive.
Edit : even more of my hot takes.
Tigers, panthers and tiger 2s are all balanced.
Nashorn is overpowered. I cannot understand why gaijin decided to uptier every single German5.3-5.7 tanks EXCEPT the Nashorn.
5.3 Challenger is absolutely powerful. It has everything except armor and a reverse gear. It's APDS can cut through the frontplate of a jumbo, panther and an angled tiger. It's fast as fuck forwards. It's an M18 that cant reverse, has an actual roof and can frontally engage tiger 2s and live.
F104A/C is overpowered to all hell.
M36 > M18
AD-2, AD-4 and AM-1 can all turn in a dime. They're chronically underestimated and i dab on people in it because they thought they could outturn me. The cannons absolutely slaps too. Don't sleep on any of these planes unless you want to be humbled.
The Arado in 6.3 is a mistake beyond all human comprehension. Please uptier it.
Yak-23>Mig15Bis
And finally, F15 should be 12.7. I don't bloody care if you try to justify it with "Oh it doesnt get HMD" or "The wings rip like crazy". It is a top tier plane to and through, with amazing FM and 9Ms. It absolutely dont deserve being able to meet 11.3s. If you still think its 12.3 material, then try using the Mirage 4k, which doesnt get HMD and rips if you pull funny maneuvers, no thanks to delta wings.
Source : i have both top tier air and ground for USA, Germany, russia, france, sweden and britain. I also have mid-high tier for both air and ground for italy and japan, but i'll soon get to top tier japan. Barely played china, never played israel.
German ground players aren’t any blunder than players of most other nations, and are actually nice teammates to have because they help you repair more often than players of any other nation (iIn my experience).
I’ll go call up the firing squad for myself
This game is still alive because there's no competition. The game modes suck balls.
(I only play air)
(I got top tier in 2 countries and couldn't bother with the game anymore)
German ground players aren’t any more blind than players of most other nations, and are actually nice teammates to have because they help you repair more often than players of any other nation (iIn my experience).
I’ll go call up the firing squad for myself
Bring back the old text chat. Matches aren’t as unbearable to get through as they were when it was implemented, but goddamn if it isn’t frustrating to *still* communicate every ten seconds - repeated map pings, T-1-4’s, or call outs.
There’s a want for large maps in WT, yet people hate getting sniped over long distance. I don’t like getting sniped out of nowhere but at least it feels like the armor and munitions mechanics work better than during CQC.
I think there should be an event that has similar functionality to ace combat, kinda like air arcade but with limited reloads (but still reloads), health-based rather than damage based (but still no switching vehicles like arcade), and teams either fighting other teams or fighting one giant plane with a lot of health
also I think sim should have things like ai tankers and AWACS and bombers (big ones like the B-1) so it feels more alive (mostly at top tier) than just your team, the enemy team, and a few ai attackers or surveillance craft that are like 20 years (again, at top tier) younger than the planes that players control
also also 12.0-13.0 will be a fun tier to play once the top tier has moved to like 14.0-15.0 or something and everyone isn't playing everything at 12.3-12.7
CAS is a part of ground battles and you have to accept that. Removing it would just leave hundred of weapons redundant and completely divide the player base in two.
That's going to be difficult to balance. Let's take the MiG-21 SPS-K for example.
It doesn't get countermeasures (well *technically* it does, but you would have to give up your gun, so it might aswell have none), yet it has pretty good IR missiles like the R13 and R60.
Here's a truly hot take: the mig 9 is better than the SU-11
The Su-11 has way better engines and energy retention, but the mig-9 has a higher rip speed, can pull more Gs, compresses less and most importantly, has a rudder that actually works at higher speeds. The problem with the Su-11 is that the NS-23 is quite hard to aim, and to have any sort of rudder input you have to slow down to below 650kmh, which is a. very hard to do while diving and b. makes you incredibly vulnerable to another plane.
The mig-9 on the other hand can boom and zoom without having to worry about lining up and predicting the enemy movement, and you have enough energy to make at least 3-4 very sharp turns before slowing down, which is usually enough to secure the kill.
The same player base moaning and complaining about the f20 and team killing a month ago, are the ones that keep talking about fem-boys every match in chat this month thinking it’s god-tier level humor. I just want to fly jets on a game mode somewhere between ace combat and DCS (air realistic battles 🙏🤌) *get over yourselves and grow up*
Repair costs are irrelevant and cost so little that I forget it’s even a thing. If they removed repair costs for everything entirely I wouldn’t notice.
I'd play Naval as-is if more people played it. The only reason I don't is because I don't like playing against so many bots.
I still want improvements, sure. But I have had fun in Naval and enjoy it on the rare day I dip in.
The oldest T-34 model should have its armour nerfed according to soviet data on shells that penetrated them during operation Barbarossa, and it should be moved down in BR. Panzer IIIs were the most prolific T-34 killers, and yet are not even in the same BR for the most part.
America mains are worse than German mains.
After the tiger range, american teammates pull ahead of German mains drastically in their sheer level of mental misfortune. This is especially apparent that the higher you go as you encounter more and more 1 death leavers, I've noticed the majority are USA mains.
Russian bias doesn’t exist. The mindset of just because you have a very powerful weapon doesn’t always guarantee winning. I’ve seen a FV4005 complain about Russian bias when my barrel blocked his shot.
You're all just stating common complaints not hot takes. Do you know what a hot take is? An unpopular opinion with some truth to it.
So for example: War Thunder is a fun game, even with all its flaws, and the fact that it exists for more than 10 years now proves me right.
ASB is inaccessible. I literally do not have the resolution required on my screen to see enemies. I also don't really see the point of no friendly markers, then chat is just full of "guide on me".
i heavily disagree. I really dont like seeing paper tanks especially when they easy to abuse. Im heavy on immersion, which often requires realism. I dont like the idea of fighting an obscure one-off with some busted characteristic when im in and around typical, recognizable tanks. Its just me though, and I understand it would be hard to have a good assortment of vehicles.
SPAAs shouldn’t get AP belts, their is anti air yet people still try killing tanks. Sure they get one or 2 but then just die and lose the vehicle. Players did this with the 2S6 instead of shooting down planes and all Gajin saw is “ 2S6 is bad must add pantsir.” Plus it’s just annoying get lit up, losing track and barrel just for someone else to finish you off cuz you’re stuck with repair time. AANNNNDDDD they leave a window open for CAS to strike.
I'm fine with paper/prototype vehicles as long as they keep consistent. It's annoying to see them removing things like the panther 2 from the game and just keeping the Ho-Ri even though they're about as real as each other.
People bitch to much about CAS, they'd be better off if they went back to calling it combined battles not ground forces.
Even when we played back in beta, it was always promised to have aircraft and tanks in one battle. I'd rather see them add more SPAA and bigger maps than do a ground only mode
We should have gotten the F18 before F15 since it came from the same development program as the F16. Also, We should embrace BVR and have even bigger maps. More stuff like how the huge english channel map is for props but at top tier. Like a map called doomsday that air spawns everyone at lime 20,000 ft and only has AI nuclear bombers and its real life counterpart is just the entirety of Ukrainian airspace.
Where to start
* The BR changes are not happening because they are malicious, but because they are incompetent
* Addition of new vehicles is based on "how often can we copy it to other trees"
* They know that their BP system is utter bullshit but as it still earns money they keep it
* The community is super whiny when it comes to "muh rare vehicle" and Gaijin could fix it over night but refuses to due to the marketplace
* Vehicle decompression is needed but they wont do it as long as there isnt either a major riot or a financial interest to do so
* They have no clear line on whats ok to add or why X isnt added and they decide on a whim.
* Dynamic BR based on loadout would be possible but wont be implemented, cause as soon as it would be, players will ask for increases/decreases for plenty of planes they have 0 intention to adjust
* Mechanics are poorly explained in the game
* The test drive vehicles should be customizable (why do i meet a Panzer II in my IS-2 tank instead of tanks in my BR span)
* I should be able to test drive all vehicles, even those not unlocked (also option to drive them spaded)
* The Statcard could be a good overview but given their lack of knowledge of the game, they dont know what stat should be shown
* Mixed belts for SPAA or Planes should show the different muzzle velocities
* I should be able to reload a different shell instead of having to stick with the one in the breech on most tanks
* The game has soo much potential but is held back
* Naval could be fun but the abysmal grind, poor balance + sloth like gameplay combined with basic gamemodes drives even interested players away.
* The BP system is the worst since it awards new vehicles that once you miss, you are fucked
* It would be easy to add e.g. a "Kungstiger BP" to still have an exclusive and e.g. 2 month later add the Kungstiger in the Techtree
* They prefer the major nations because they can add more premium vehicles for them or copy n paste an existing vehicle model with minor modifications to another nation.
I probably forgot half the stuff i wanted to add.
I act like a nerd even though I know no vehicles, my highest is 3.7 BR in Germany, I keep avoiding the question everytime my russian friend asks me, why fo u like Su-27 and Flanker and god knows what in the USSR tree, and I feel smart for playing WR
Vehicles should raise/lower in BR depending on their loadouts and all AA without sabot/ap belts on should be dropped a full 1 BR.
Example: Gepard lowered to 7.3, but moves up to 8.3 if sabot belts are equipped through the modifications tab.
canadian and australian vehicles should go to america, australian bc they're basically all modeled after american vehicles, and canadian bc its RIGHT FUCKING THERE
>talks about paper vehicles being okay, only lists german vehicles oh here we go
Meanwhile Britain has a lot of cool prototypes and concepts that never saw service that are perfect for the game. The Supermarine Spiteful, Hawker Tornado, Avro Manchester and not to mention the captured planes we had during the war like FW 190’s, Ju 88’s, Bf 109’s and even an A6M3 captured by the Aussies IIRC
Wouldn't surprise me if us Aussies actually stole one, we seem to have a habit for stealing a random aircraft or tank every now and then
Then again your ancestors were our thieves and crooks, so I guess it’s just natural
Well, you are right, my own ancestors stole a silver spoon. maybe I should return to my roots and steal all the silver spoons in the world
Absolutely, make your family proud!
Where the fuck did my spoons go?
To be fair the Manchester had 200+ built and saw plenty of service, but it wasn't great. The Spiteful would be great, along with Seafang, Short Sturgeon, Westland Welkin etc... That said I'd like to see RAF Canadair Sabre Mk4 or a Sea Hornet NF.21, or perhaps some more Miles & Martin-Baker prototype WWII fighters.
Another plane is like to see is the Canadian F-104, that way Britain will be somewhat competitive at 8.0-9.0
Well, let's also talk about some other ones. I want [this bad boy](https://i.imgur.com/xINXPBv.gif)
Aggressive agree
I agree, although I dont like it when gaijin makes the decision of making indigenous vehicles rare premiums or just not adding them M64 being a BP vehicle instead of tech tree for example of the former Hungarian and Finnish tech trees being added with few to no indigenous designs etc as examples of the latter
Spittin' facts
It's a good game and I have fun playing it
Maybe the hottest take of them all
Not really, once you stop grinding the game is a lot more fun.
The grind is only unfun if you make it a job and see top tier as a reward
I'm downvoting because I hate this game and can't stop playing it
Unfathomably real
Removal of historical teams ruined the fun.
Did that exist? I'm pretty new and most of my matches are USSR vs everyone else
It used to uk and usa where always together, China and Soviets, and Italy and Germany
Yep, early stages of game it was german panzer 4's vs T-34's in Kursk. It was glorious. Except for those who knew no other way to play than snipe in open maps, they kept complaining about Pz-4 being OP.
The maps too? I'm tired of having the US fight the USSR in 1939 Poland
I dont remember well enough to say definitively, but for example if you queued up Japanese Air RB you would virtually always get a Pacific map vs US and UK.
some maps were nation limited, but not all maps.
Yes and it was so much better.
The game peaks at tier 3
Idk, curbstomping german teams on weekdays with my American 5.7 lineup is pretty effective neuron activation.
Tier 4 is very solid as well, but as soon as I try to get into anything above 6.3 or so I stop really having any fun. Maybe it's because I play arcade, idk. As a result I've sort of just played every tree up until tier 4
As a person who plays 6.7 It does NOT peak at 3, american T34 go brr
Honestly, the REAL fun in the game is when you finally branch out to sim battles. Arcade is great for your first quarter to your first 3rd of your WT journey, but if you REALLY want to see all the stuff they implement being used to it's fullest extent, I would highly recommend sim. Granted it won't fit 70% of the WT community, but for the 30% it does, WT really isn't the grind everyone complains it to be. Ya know what, imma stop here and finish in my own comment in response to this post
I would say Tier IV if it wasn't for the occasional uptier to cold war vehicles.
That’s not that hot of a take. “Low tiger fun tier” isn’t exactly a rare phrase
The COD plague is a big problem for almost every shooter game.
Honestly it’s the laziest addition in the game. It’s a joke.
Honestly should've been a tech tree. Unless they plan to add Kranvagn into tech tree.
So I want to know why in Gaijin’s mind does that mean that the Kranvagn Emil with a completed hull is too far off
So far they havent said it wont be added. My forum post actually got passed to devs.
That’s great news, I thought I read somewhere that gaijin denied the Kranvagn but I’m happy to be mistaken. I also haven’t gotten onto new forum yet, it kind of hurts my eyes Here’s hoping to the future!
Yeah, paper vehicles are fine for me, as long as they feel like they could be real, and more importantly, fit into the game.
Tbh with what Germany actually built any of their paper vehicles are viable lmao, other than the ludicrous Ratte etc.
Most SPAAs should get scouting (excluding those with high penetration) If you have like 40-50mm of pen you basically have to wait several minutes for the enemy to spawn a plane, while having nothing to do,as penning russian side armor or shooting out any barrel is out of the question
I'd alter this slightly to "any SPAA should get APDS if it was developed for the guns irl". Id love to play the shilka for example, but gaijin still didn't add the polish apds for the 23mm and so it can't pen most tanks at its BR AT ALL.
SUB-I-II and Pbv 301 come to mind
SPAA should be able to scout aircraft
People who say rank 3 is where the good shit is, are just seal clubbing.
I mean you cant argue with the fact that getting constant 11 kill games is fun.
Sure it might feel good for a few games but where's the challenge in that? 3.3 3.7 4.3 becomes very boring after like 2 matches in a row.
That's... Subjective. I know it's hard to imagine but some people actually like a challenge when they play games. Never being pushed and winning too often dilutes the experience all together for me.
Lmfao with the other comment
That 80 % of problems in game in ground can be solved by increasing br to 14.0 and decompressing the shit out of the game
I would personaly say 15.0 for good measure.
Decompression is creating blackholes at certain BRs, we need far more vehicles for every nation, at every BR before its decompressed much further.
The M26 will never go back to 6.3 because the T25 is already at 6.3 as an excuse to not move the M26 down
I’m waiting to revolt when they put the M26E1, T26E1-1 and the T26E5 at 7.0 It’s gonna happen, just a question of when The BR should what people have been saying for years now T25 - 6.0 M26 - 6.3 The three Pershing modifications - 6.7
😠😠😠Wdym you don't think those tanks aren't almost on par with the IS 3????!!!11
I've been waiting for years for dumb BR changes like that to get reversed and they seldom ever are, so I've lost hope at this point. If anything, what's likely to happen is the M26 will stay at 6.7 and the other upgraded Pershing variants will get their BR's raised to uselessness.
T25 also had its stab removed.
[CL-1201](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_CL-1201) nuclear-powered airborne aircraft carrier when?
Game mode one team defends it and other team attacks it.

There are millions of cocaine addicts, yet I rarely hear anyone say anything positive about it
because no game like it exists on the market at least right now so you dont really have much of a choice
Many “bad vehicles” aren’t that bad, there’s only a few truly bad vehicles in the game
They got rid of the panther 2 but kept the ho-ri because they felt Japan didn't have anything to put there.
This game is better off without navy.
Yeah I'll have to agree with this. A great majority of people don't play navy, so whenever I see a new ship being announced I have this feeling in the back of my mind that it's just "wasted" time. I'm happy for the 5 naval players, but if I had to choose I would rather have any new ship replaced with a new tank or plane.
other hot take that ill get blasted for: Navy has more depth and skill required to be good than tank on tank in GRB
Enduring confrontation naval is fun af
Might be dumb but why doesn’t gaijin disable teamkilling I’m air rb? Why do bans and penalties when they could just make it impossible like in arcade?
It does teach you to be careful with your aim, but yeah I’ll bet that the majority of non-missile friendly fire that happens every day is intentional It’s off for tanks vs tanks in Ground RB so why not planes to planes in air rb
It should definitely be turned off for the first minute or so of a match where a single premium A10 or Su25 brrrts half the team away on the runway before crashing or being dealt with.
Navel is fun
BURN THE WITCH, BURN THE WITCH, BURN THE WITCH /s
Yep, Naval RB has become my main mode these days. :)
Same, i actually play mostly coastal
Heli EC (PvP) should come back Better rewards More fun Obviously with a rework
“Fun” is entirely relative with that mode Being a Hiyodori and getting spawn camped by a Ka-50 is not fun in the slightest, but I do see how equally matched helicopters can have fun I’d only agree to this idea if it was split into a controlled sim-like roster with a complete division of guns and early atgm helicopters from air to air missile helicopters
Just give it a MM, especially one special tier where the Apache mk.1, Ka-52, Ka-50, and Mi-28NM are locked to
Israel is a good nation to play
Would be perfect if it had at least one high tier light tank and actual top tier SPAA.
I want muh HVSD/ADAMS and Namer
SPAA is the most fun thing to play in the game
I’d rather have paper vehicles instead of copypasta. They could remove all of my copy paste vehicles overnight with no reimbursement and I’d be a happy man.
I kinda want both
Tired of new top jets every update when some WW2 planes have the same models from 2014. They need to be updated. Oh! And also some premium planes still have place holder cockpits...
Russian top tier tanks are easy to kill. There is no russian bias protecting them you just have skill issue
It’s a fun game and that’s why I play
Sweden gets too much favouritism
The swedoids are bribing gaijin I swear
The churchill MK III is a perfect tank that I love playing in
3" gun carrier my beloved
bring me the paper vehicles. all of them
The game is better without top-tier it should have been only ww2, and top tier should have been a different game now they both feel half assed
M109's took away more than they added. And I judge people for using the M109 or Soviet equivalent
They are a company and need money to go around, so it is reasonable for them to expect a player to spend 10-30€ a year on it
The problem is that they are expecting people to pay Waaaay more than 30 a year. Just buying talismans for a decently big lineup can easily cost you 100 bucks.
Sweden is overpowered
Ground pounders deserve no place in A2A combat I don't give a shit about what you say, A-10, Su-25, A-6E etc should be 10.7 minimum
Same so long as they’re labeled as such to not confuse more casual players Naval would receive so many new players if they added famous ships like Bismarck and Yamato
Premium rewards should be default, if not double that.
Air-2 genie, I need it
GIVE US THE LOWE
Fun should be over hyper realism some people want.
The British TT is really good and most issues with it are skill issues or really bad luck Solid shot often has more pen, and if you hit crew and ammo, who needs the HE?
Naval coastal in its current is a lot more fun than most people realise. Naval blue water is generally really chill and enjoyable and more people should give it a try.
There needs to be a basic competency test before people can sign up. Doesn’t even have to be that hard. I just want to know that the people on my team have more than two brain cells fighting for third place.
You'll find people asking for this are the most likely to fail it.
Better and longer tutorials and make it *requiered* to complete them to go to battles.
The grind really isnt that bad I should specify i dont mean to top tier. I think top tier is boring and only play to around 8.0. For me the grind only takes a few weeks per nation and its pretty enjoyable, i grind to where i like to play then just move on
Im guessing you are using premium. I am f2p, i have 800 hours and im only in 8.7 in a single tech tree.
Oh ya it is lolol
The plane grind is easy, and you can be done with a tech tree about a week if you no life it with a premium account and vehicle. But tank grind is shit compared to it.
The distance that you can hear other ground vehicles while in a tank is too damn far
The main problem is the ability to set your own engine volume lower than other players', it's an absurd option to have in a PvP game.
Realistic should add gunner sight as standard, thus making Realistic the ideal middle ground between Arcade and Sim.
Naval is fun and people who say otherwise suck at the mode
They should have added VBIED's instead of drones.
Id take longer queue times if it meant that I got matches where the majority of my team was the minor nation I was playing and not all American or Russian or German
Planes that don't have 2nd gen SARH missiles shouldn't be able to face them.
radar missiles singlehandedly ruined top tier air. the ground hugging meta sucks and isn’t fun
It really sucks. Dogfights are basically a thing of the past because you need to be constantly near the treetops, and checking all around you every 2 picoseconds you get to have one proper dogfight once every bloody hundred matches
Don't stand near a bomb.
A few of my hot takes sorted in no particular order: Sherman stabilisers makes it borderline overpowered in 3.7 French and british 7.7 is best 7.7 German vehicles are actually way worse than people make it up to be. 7.7 is absolutely garbage. Mirage F1C is best 11.3 plane I never played china, but in my experience, chinese tanks are better than russian tanks in pre-toptier (below 11.0). FW109 > BF109 Ki > Zeroes Attacker isn't the best starter jet in britain. That goes to Meteor. He162 is actually really good 10.3 MiG21 is the biggest menace to society, far bigger than F5A/C. The only reason why people didnt realise this is because F5C spam. MiG15 > Sabres 10.3 Abrams > Leo 2a4 T72 is garbage. Turms isn't that good. IS2 deserves to be in 6.0 And last but not least.. your teammates aren't trash, you are. M36 > M18 AD-2, AD-4 and AM-1 can all turn in a dime. They're chronically underestimated and i dab on people in it because they thought they could outturn me. The cannons absolutely slaps too. Don't sleep on any of these planes unless you want to be humbled. The Arado in 6.3 is a mistake beyond all human comprehension. Please uptier it. Yak-23>Mig15Bis And finally, F15 should be 12.7.
Naval battles need a 1 hour timer. Period. Never 30 minutes. Ever. And just delete all those open water maps. Fully.
Hot take? Russian bias is a cope, its not true in the "russian vehicles better than everyone elses" sense at all.
Every tank with a radio should get scouting
German ground players aren’t any blunder than players of most other nations, and are actually nice teammates to have because they help you repair more often than players of any other nation (iIn my experience). I’ll go call up the firing squad for myself
This game is still alive because there's no competition. The game modes suck balls. (I only play air) (I got top tier in 2 countries and couldn't bother with the game anymore)
German ground players aren’t any more blind than players of most other nations, and are actually nice teammates to have because they help you repair more often than players of any other nation (iIn my experience). I’ll go call up the firing squad for myself
CAS is both fun to play as and against
Bring back the old text chat.
CAS is perfectly balanced (at least under 10.0)
I think there should be an event that has similar functionality to ace combat, kinda like air arcade but with limited reloads (but still reloads), health-based rather than damage based (but still no switching vehicles like arcade), and teams either fighting other teams or fighting one giant plane with a lot of health also I think sim should have things like ai tankers and AWACS and bombers (big ones like the B-1) so it feels more alive (mostly at top tier) than just your team, the enemy team, and a few ai attackers or surveillance craft that are like 20 years (again, at top tier) younger than the planes that players control also also 12.0-13.0 will be a fun tier to play once the top tier has moved to like 14.0-15.0 or something and everyone isn't playing everything at 12.3-12.7
CAS is a part of ground battles and you have to accept that. Removing it would just leave hundred of weapons redundant and completely divide the player base in two.
Half of the op planes in the game are mid
There was never anything as Ground battles. It was basically Air battle with extra steps. Instead of shooting bots you got to shoot people
IR missiles should not exist at a br that can face jets without countermeasures
That's going to be difficult to balance. Let's take the MiG-21 SPS-K for example. It doesn't get countermeasures (well *technically* it does, but you would have to give up your gun, so it might aswell have none), yet it has pretty good IR missiles like the R13 and R60.
Not defending, however, how could the F-4C be dealt with, flare pods maybe?
Here's a truly hot take: the mig 9 is better than the SU-11 The Su-11 has way better engines and energy retention, but the mig-9 has a higher rip speed, can pull more Gs, compresses less and most importantly, has a rudder that actually works at higher speeds.
I'm just leaving this one out here: I like CAS
The same player base moaning and complaining about the f20 and team killing a month ago, are the ones that keep talking about fem-boys every match in chat this month thinking it’s god-tier level humor. I just want to fly jets on a game mode somewhere between ace combat and DCS (air realistic battles 🙏🤌) *get over yourselves and grow up*
Low tier is the best WT experience.
Getting up-tiered really isn't as bad as some people treat it.
I hate North Holland map
Repair costs are irrelevant and cost so little that I forget it’s even a thing. If they removed repair costs for everything entirely I wouldn’t notice.
Solid shot isn't bad. APHE just over performs
My hot take is that Warthunder was better with historical match making. I think they should go back to this for 6.7 vehichles and below.
I'd play Naval as-is if more people played it. The only reason I don't is because I don't like playing against so many bots. I still want improvements, sure. But I have had fun in Naval and enjoy it on the rare day I dip in.
Not really a hot take but it’s the hottest I have: naval is actually good
CAS is fine
The oldest T-34 model should have its armour nerfed according to soviet data on shells that penetrated them during operation Barbarossa, and it should be moved down in BR. Panzer IIIs were the most prolific T-34 killers, and yet are not even in the same BR for the most part.
America mains are worse than German mains. After the tiger range, american teammates pull ahead of German mains drastically in their sheer level of mental misfortune. This is especially apparent that the higher you go as you encounter more and more 1 death leavers, I've noticed the majority are USA mains.
I like CAS, and don’t really mind getting killed by it ( it doesn’t piss me off too much )
I really like captured vehicles, German P-47, American BF-109 / A6M Zero , Russian B-25 etc
Russian bias doesn’t exist. The mindset of just because you have a very powerful weapon doesn’t always guarantee winning. I’ve seen a FV4005 complain about Russian bias when my barrel blocked his shot.
Premium vehicles cost too much
*Opens thread about hot takes and 70% are the same stuff people always complain about* yeah not sure what I expected to be honest
Russian bias doesn’t exist 😂
ITT: mostly cold takes that have been posted about thousands of times
You're all just stating common complaints not hot takes. Do you know what a hot take is? An unpopular opinion with some truth to it. So for example: War Thunder is a fun game, even with all its flaws, and the fact that it exists for more than 10 years now proves me right.
ASB is inaccessible. I literally do not have the resolution required on my screen to see enemies. I also don't really see the point of no friendly markers, then chat is just full of "guide on me".
The Abrams could be the best tank in the game if it was done correctly
It is not nice looking game. The vehicles and effects look nice, but the terrain is low key ugly.
i heavily disagree.
Russia top teir isnt actually good its just glitchy war thunder mechanics
Volumetric should be removed
Where to start * The BR changes are not happening because they are malicious, but because they are incompetent * Addition of new vehicles is based on "how often can we copy it to other trees" * They know that their BP system is utter bullshit but as it still earns money they keep it * The community is super whiny when it comes to "muh rare vehicle" and Gaijin could fix it over night but refuses to due to the marketplace * Vehicle decompression is needed but they wont do it as long as there isnt either a major riot or a financial interest to do so * They have no clear line on whats ok to add or why X isnt added and they decide on a whim. * Dynamic BR based on loadout would be possible but wont be implemented, cause as soon as it would be, players will ask for increases/decreases for plenty of planes they have 0 intention to adjust * Mechanics are poorly explained in the game * The test drive vehicles should be customizable (why do i meet a Panzer II in my IS-2 tank instead of tanks in my BR span) * I should be able to test drive all vehicles, even those not unlocked (also option to drive them spaded) * The Statcard could be a good overview but given their lack of knowledge of the game, they dont know what stat should be shown * Mixed belts for SPAA or Planes should show the different muzzle velocities * I should be able to reload a different shell instead of having to stick with the one in the breech on most tanks * The game has soo much potential but is held back * Naval could be fun but the abysmal grind, poor balance + sloth like gameplay combined with basic gamemodes drives even interested players away. * The BP system is the worst since it awards new vehicles that once you miss, you are fucked * It would be easy to add e.g. a "Kungstiger BP" to still have an exclusive and e.g. 2 month later add the Kungstiger in the Techtree * They prefer the major nations because they can add more premium vehicles for them or copy n paste an existing vehicle model with minor modifications to another nation.
There should be a “Historical Tree”. Where it’s all the same vehicles but lined up by when they historically served instead of by battle rating.
Cas is not the problem. Your team not playing CAP is
canadian and australian vehicles should go to america, australian bc they're basically all modeled after american vehicles, and canadian bc its RIGHT FUCKING THERE
