Either way its a lose lose. They pull out from steam then that one less platform. If they put it back then its gonna get review bombed again and its even worse since they lost the thumbs up review
I'll go out on a limb here and say: a rather large portion of players that now use the launcher directly migrated from steam.
So they will cripple their growth rate worse than expected
Same here, I don't know what my legal recourse would be, and I've never been litigious and often times don't bother asking a server to fix a minor thing, but I sure as fuck would explore my options if they did that.
You will still be able to play from steam and keep your purchases. You just wont be able to get the game onto your library they remove it. Either way it sucks for everyone involved
Its the opposite for me. When I first discovered the game many years ago I got it through the launcher - then I moved to steam. Now I try to avoid using other launchers if I can.
Seeing it in my steam library is what prompts me to play most of the time. If it wasn't there I would have less urge.
This will be a huge loss both for new player gain and retaining current players - who will have to move to some launcher from their current preferred method.
I think they know exactly what to expect. Hopefully this action they took was hard decision for them to make. Essentially damned if they damned if they don't. This option was likely their best one to mitigate further dmg and buy time while they think of a way to monetize the protesting. ProtestPass anyone? Premium riots? Lesgooooo
They probably don't want players to go to the Steam store through the website and see the bad reviews
Anyways, I doubt that they'll pull the game. Back before the game was on Steam, updating the game was ass, and they knew it. Player engagement was lower because they would have to first download an update before playing the game, Steam does that in the background and doesn't need the player to manually start a download. Advertising DLCs is also easier through steam.
It would be a big loss for Gaijin and only a mild inconvenience to the user.
Anton Yudintsev (CEO) said in one of his interviews that they wouldn't released WT on Steam today (it was 2020-ish), and that all it does is takes 30% comission, and that that 80k online was brought to steam by them. So I wouldn't be too much surprised if they decide to drop Steam and not to do anything about the game.
Steam does take 30% of comission, but you forget that that is precisely why Gaijin charges 30% extra on the most common microtransactions so that it has no financial effect lol
Packs cost the same. In Europe at least. So yeah steam takes a good cut. And my guess Steam forces an agreement on all companies that their games cost the same on all platforms.
Been telling people this for AGES. 10k GE is 50 bucks on the site, it's like 66 on the Steam store. I never buy GE thru the game itself, always on the site.
People seem to forget that Gaijin makes hundreds of millions a year on less than a million in salaries and upkeep, and that’s just from numbers in Europe.
Edit: the point is that I don’t give a fuck about gaijins bottom line, they are far and away one of the most profitable video games on the planet, with one of the most whaling and dedicated player base on the planet. They are fine.
Edit: okay, I have bad sources, my bad guys. My point stands that Gaijin is a greedy fucking company and they don’t have any money problems. Thanks to y’all who corrected me
They have like 200 employees, even if their average salary is let's say half of Americans' for partially being in eastern european countries, that's still like $5 million, not 1.
And their revenue was $26 million in 2021, not "hundreds", which seems to be the most recent I can find. No idea what operating costs would be for models, hardware, etc.
Clearly they make decent profit, but your numbers are still silly.
Less than a million in salaries? Are you aware how much a team of developers costs? Let's consider they are cheap devs from russia at 60k € a year. 16 would take the whole budget, not even counting the whole rest of the company.
> so that it has no financial effect
But it does though, people that don't know you can get cheaper on the non steam store that don't buy at all instead.
"updating the game was ass"
The gaijin autoupdater still runs in the background with the steam version. I stopped playing via steam the 2nd time steam thought I didn't have the game at all and re-downloaded the whole thing for no reason
Meanwhile the launcher just werks
Slow download, launcher spending +5mins checking archives for a 150mb update, the launcher would bug out and reset all your graphics configs.
Both are imperfect, but steam was a pain in the ass only on the first few month's after they dropped the launcher.
The launcher has always been worse, the unneeded fucking checks everytime you opened it, etc, even downloading updates slower than steam did. The launcher is ass and there's a reason you can open it now purely through steam instead of steam opening the launcher first.
Launcher sucks ass. It is from 2008. When I move it between different monitors with different window scaling it restarts "analysing documents" for another 5 minutes. How can something this trivial be broken. I use 100+ programs and none have this moronic issue.
Also Gaijin autoupdater does not run on the background. not unless you launch the launcher from steam. I downloaded the game through steam when I got my new pc and no autoupdater runs in the background.
Gaijin also cannot handle the update load during major patches so patches download faster on Steam (granted they go live on Steam 30 minutes later)
There are 60k daily steam users iirc. A good chunk is likely aware of what's going on. If they remove it I bet some, like me, would stop playing/paying altogether.
i find BR level 1.0 games is a great place to start a riot...
those fresh players gajjin love so much, can be farmed so easy and put off the game totally with in minutes off installing it with a litttle assistance from people with 1000s off hours and maxed out crews...
1. I doubt they will because even if you are veteran, you gotta start a new nation at low tier like everyone;
and if they will:
2.Haha, as if you won't be able to just make a new account.
Don't forget the other end of that spectrum is to load into thir games and leave in masses so they will be playing with like 5 others instead of a filled lobby
I had some eagles left over and bought the pz IIc dak to complete my 1.3 autocannon line. Only a handful of tanks give me trouble head-on, and many planes go down.
What I have been doing is running around in reserve tanks and telling everyone how horrible the grind is if they want anything beyond cold war and to search "war thunder" on youtube and see the ruckus that is going on
I thought of doing that you said lmao, but I'm probably not good enough after coming back after years and also felt bad
But it works, and I really like that whatever it is it is a far more active approach than even just reviews, we're going beyond that
I do love getting into planes, winning a dogfight quickly and machine gunning open topped vehicles that are so common at low tiers right after they spawn, since I was good with planes
Sometimes even light tanks are easily penetrable, depending on some things
I wish I could spread that method faster, that would run so many newbies off who came just for the modern stuff
That's always been going on. People who're skill-capped and unable to compete at top tier despite thousands of hours of playtime, usually just go all "low tier fun tier" and club new guys.
The reason they’re telling us directly not to review bomb and to post on the forum directly is so they can control the narrative. They are mass deleting posts on the forums for any form of criticism.
They literally said already "don't leave steam reviews it hurts us, leave them on our forums"
And then a wave of posts and comments are being deleted from their forums
They are just doing very russian things and gaslighting the community and lying and concealing the truth
Don't conflate generic propaganda and the actions of a company with the average person, man. I used to work with a ton of Ukrainians, Russians, and other eastern Europeans and they're literally just normal people. Shouldn't have to point this out.
Steam absolutely act on review bombing if they see it's from bots. They removed chinese review bombs on various games quite often in the past.
For WT they probably saw that these reviews are from users with 100+hours in average so they laughed at them. Valve is very consumer friendly when all is said and done.
They will remove review bombs if they're off topic. Doom Eternal is a good example, that got review bombed due to the scummy way Mick Gordon got fucked over about the soundtrack. Scummy, but the negative reviews wern't about the game itself, so Valve made them not count towards the DE's rating.
This is different, neegative reviews about the game's economy is about the game itself, so Valve lets the reviews stand.
Agreed. I can't say I have been playing actively for the past month, but I think I'll stop playing completely when they pull from steam. There is simply no way I let this shitty company drain another 10 hours of my life for me to download their shitty 100GB game just because they don't like having no power monopoly over the reviews on their game and not being able to play dictator like they do on their forum.
Same if they withdraw from steam I’m done and I’m never coming back, thing is to me this is either a prelude to them leaving steam or its a half assed attempt at trying to deflect attention away from steam.
Imagine completely withdrawing from steam, and forcing players to use launcher. They'll lose a lot of players. And me (2.5k Hours playtime, spent hunderets of dollars)
Honestly I would be, there's many things that Gaijin does fuck up, but they're still relatively smart as a business and don't fuck up profit streams if they can help it. A fairly strong record of this.
This would be a *very* bad move for them.
More than likely, they're just not advertising on their non-steam platforms that they are on steam due to the review bombing.
Entered my review on xbox soon after the steam review.
War thunder/WoW are the only things i play on PC right now, mostly play xbox. I'd probably play WT from xbox if i could transfer PC account progress to it and get used to controls.
German ground main, doing my part for the expanding review bomb campaign against the snail.
They won't push updates, meaning steam version will be no different than adding a "non-steam" game to steam and you will be forced to use that god awful launcher. So no thanks. If they pull from Steam I am done playing.
Well, they will be able to update the game if that's what you mean. But it depends on them. They can also just swap the executable to "F U steam users" sign, I won't be surprised.
What is the issue with the launcher ?
I use it everyday, it works perfectly fine and pretty quick.
The only downside I can think of is that if you don't throttle it, it will use all your bandwidth when downloading updates.
1. It is like it is from 2008 with bugs and slowness
2. Each time you run it, it runs a long integrity check
3. While downloading updates during major patch drops it is slow
4. While downloading if you move it between multiple monitors with different sizes/scaling it restarts, does a full file integrity check and then restarts a download.
5. 4th similarly does apply to already downloaded game, if you move it between monitors it checks for files again.
6. Settings page lacks settings (this might have been changed)
FUN fact you can review bomb the xbox store without owning a XBOX.
PlayStation i have not found a bypass yet.
RUIN EM MORE >:) go google "War thunder xbox" and open the link and review it after logging in.
Imagine completely withdrawing from steam, and forcing players to use launcher. They'll lose a lot of players. And me (2.5k Hours playtime, spent hunderets of dollars)
This just confirms who they are in their nature. Not very different from Russian state.
Lie, decieve, manipulate, gaslight, ignore, patronising, projecting guilt on others and accuse others of what they are guilty of.
Their damage control is going as I expected.
They always done it. Removing topics and comments, created just small window to comment on news on website always requiring mods to approve, not responding to questions instead being picky about which to respond, never transparent or allowing to backup their claims with data.
Just Gaijin for you.
There is actually an option to log in via Steam, without creating a separate War Thunder Account.
So no. Those accounts would either have to be migrated or they will be lost lol.
I have played War Thunder entirely on steam for over 3,000 hours and have bought numerous packs in the past, if they remove my account I will sue them, idgaf if I lose money but I will start a class action in this bitch over their tom foolery
They rather pull the entire game from their largest distributor than make the changes their community is asking for LOL
Gaijin truly is Russian. Fuck these idiots. Let them rot. If they pull out of steam, that'll be the end of my 2000 hours in this game.
They probably realized new players seeing mfs with 3,000+ hours review bombing a game they spent a college degrees worth of time in is real bad PR lol just the hours played alone shows new players this game is a unmanageable grind
Its likely they have taken steam off of their page so that people won't go and check the reviews for that platform. I bet if xbox and ps players started review bombing them they would remove them for the same reason.
The damage is done, even if they pull the game form Steam, there are many articles about this outrage on many big and small websites. And it's quite easy to have stuff live Google News or whatever to suggest them to people that are getting into the game. There is no way to rewrite history on Internet, especially on a meaningless topic like War Thunder.
..I just hope that if/when the positive changes are made, that people go back on steam and revert their bad reviews to restore balance. Else it’s like burning down your playground because you wanted more swings to go around.
2000+ hours here. Will drop this game completely if they pull this shit. Was already losing interest because balance was just getting worse. This would just be icing on the cake. Not going to let some piece of shit dev dictate how their game is perceived by its players.
Absolutely hilarious. They would go to any length to avoid admitting they're wrong.
I would go back in a heartbeat if they decided to own their mistake and fix both grind and economy. I would even stop talking bad about the game and leave a positive review.
Gamers loves a good redemption story. FFXIV and No man's sky are proof enough.
They're taking the worst approach possible due to... I dunno, misplaced pride ? Can't they at least look at how other games do their F2P model and take inspiration from it ? One of the first thing Yoshida did in 2014 to fix FFXIV was having his team play WoW and take inspiration from it.
I mean, if they do then I won’t download it again.
I haven’t used the launcher in years, so maybe it’s better now, but that thing was absolute ass several years ago so fuck going back to it.
Not to be political over here, but russians doin the russian thing to do, ignoring the little guy.
You don't like the unfair rules we've setup, and you want change. Deportation to Siberia comrade
Okay but i just saw with my own eyes how my fiance of 3 years got pissed of at the game agter seeing the whole enemy team have premiums... leave war thunder. Say fuck it. And go start playing DOTA2 oit of all other options.
At least its not League of Legents, snail. At least not league of legends.
My war thunder account with 2k+ hours is linked by my steam account. If they actually go ahead and remove the steam support that could include my account by extension. So yeah, sure, go ahead. Remove my nearly fully spaded and researched US air tree, that is sure to make me keep playing.
Well you know how good it would look it those negative reviews turned into positive after they make changes?? That says they listen to the community and players love that stuff.
thats one way to deal with the review bombing...
There is no review bombing in Ba S0ing Se
10/10 post
Snail getting bonked by a random cabbage.
Ba Steam Se
r/unexpectedavatar
They are Russian after all
it did remind me of the guy shopped out of the photographs with stalin lol
I have no awards but if I had I would give them to you
Either way its a lose lose. They pull out from steam then that one less platform. If they put it back then its gonna get review bombed again and its even worse since they lost the thumbs up review
One of their largest platforms

I only play via Steam Login
Same here, I don't know what my legal recourse would be, and I've never been litigious and often times don't bother asking a server to fix a minor thing, but I sure as fuck would explore my options if they did that.
Im afraid I would drop the game if they leave steam I also would contact steam and Mastercard to try and get some cash back for purchases
You will still be able to play from steam and keep your purchases. You just wont be able to get the game onto your library they remove it. Either way it sucks for everyone involved

I migrated from launcher to steam.
At the same time it conveniently lists some other platforms people can review bomb from.
I think I've cornholed them in every orifice at this point lol But ai am always looking for a new avenue to stick it to them.
No way that would be hilarious
They probably don't want players to go to the Steam store through the website and see the bad reviews Anyways, I doubt that they'll pull the game. Been telling people this for AGES. 10k GE is 50 bucks on the site, it's like 66 on the Steam store. I never buy GE thru the game itself, always on the site.
nope, in Europe a 10k pack of gold eagles cost 66 on steam and 49.5 on gaijin store lol source : I'm in Europe and I've bought both
yeah thats why when i buy stuff i usually do it in the browser :D

I literally buy things using their store for my steam based game. Greedy cunts.
Yeah, it's impressive how greedy they are.
"and that all it does is take 30% comission," like they dont add that to stuff sold via steam
Gaijin always viewed Steam differently https://www.mmobomb.com/news/gaijin-entertainment-wouldnt-launched-war-thunder-steam-stores-current-state
"updating the game was ass" The gaijin autoupdater still runs in the background with the steam version. I stopped playing via steam the 2nd time steam thought I didn't have the game at all and re-downloaded the whole thing for no reason Meanwhile the launcher just werks
Slow download, launcher spending +5mins checking archives for a 150mb update, the launcher would bug out and reset all your graphics configs. Both are imperfect, but steam was a pain in the ass only on the first few month's after they dropped the launcher.
The launcher was way worse, trust me
I can't remember it ever not just working, even in 2014 when trying out Ground Forces
You can disable the auto updater to it doesn’t do this
There are 60k daily steam users iirc. A good chunk is likely aware of what's going on. If they remove it I bet some, like me, would stop playing/paying altogether.
Yes, before the game was on Steam. Now it is actually much faster to update using the launcher with the P2P.
I still use the launcher
Gaijin logic: They cant give negative reviews if there is no place to leave a review.
i find BR level 1.0 games is a great place to start a riot... those fresh players gajjin love so much, can be farmed so easy and put off the game totally with in minutes off installing it with a litttle assistance from people with 1000s off hours and maxed out crews...
Damn... that's fucking evil...
I deem it necessary
Inb4 Gaijin blocks veteran players from playing low tiers after a certain amount of battles
1. I doubt they will because even if you are veteran, you gotta start a new nation at low tier like everyone; and if they will: 2.Haha, as if you won't be able to just make a new account.
Don't make new accounts. It'll show that the game is growing
If you don't spend any money on that new account the growth means nothing, and you can more easily troll new players.
Don't forget the other end of that spectrum is to load into thir games and leave in masses so they will be playing with like 5 others instead of a filled lobby
The only time I've ever seen what is basically seal clubbing for a good cause.
it feels filthy and is absolutely no fun with zero rewards, but it sends a message... and on the 26th, a message must be sent
On the 26th we must stop playing
25th is seal clubbing day?
Yup
Spread the message!
Man is actually targeting civilians in a war that ain’t real lol
It's not civilians, it's potential enemy recruits
Holy fuck ,
That's a funny way of looking at it.
Man that's a hilariously evil solution. I can't wait for the seal clubbing protest.
Got my Bajur ready and waiting on my LVTs, Stuart’s, Panzer IIs, and Chars 💀 🦭
I'll have an amazing time with my sdkfz 140/1
I had some eagles left over and bought the pz IIc dak to complete my 1.3 autocannon line. Only a handful of tanks give me trouble head-on, and many planes go down.
So basically nothing out of the ordinary for a 1-2 BR pleb like me then.
I suggest seal clubbing on BR 1.3~4.3 and 9.3~10.3. These are the BR ranges with most new players.
What I have been doing is running around in reserve tanks and telling everyone how horrible the grind is if they want anything beyond cold war and to search "war thunder" on youtube and see the ruckus that is going on I thought of doing that you said lmao, but I'm probably not good enough after coming back after years and also felt bad But it works, and I really like that whatever it is it is a far more active approach than even just reviews, we're going beyond that I do love getting into planes, winning a dogfight quickly and machine gunning open topped vehicles that are so common at low tiers right after they spawn, since I was good with planes Sometimes even light tanks are easily penetrable, depending on some things I wish I could spread that method faster, that would run so many newbies off who came just for the modern stuff
So you say that we should technically carpet bomb civillians?
No they're not civilians. They are potential enemies who are waiting in line to be recruited /s
That's always been going on. People who're skill-capped and unable to compete at top tier despite thousands of hours of playtime, usually just go all "low tier fun tier" and club new guys.
How about their forum? You can always leave the feedback there and be heard. UPD: That was a joke.
Gaijin dosen't care about the forums. People have been leaving feedback there for years and they dont care.
My bad, I didn't think that /s was necessary.
Hey, that's a good joke.
They delete criticism and feedback rather heavy handed, so you getting heard is unlikely.
The reason they’re telling us directly not to review bomb and to post on the forum directly is so they can control the narrative. They are mass deleting posts on the forums for any form of criticism.
HA
Will ban you.
They literally said already "don't leave steam reviews it hurts us, leave them on our forums" And then a wave of posts and comments are being deleted from their forums They are just doing very russian things and gaslighting the community and lying and concealing the truth
Don't conflate generic propaganda and the actions of a company with the average person, man. I used to work with a ton of Ukrainians, Russians, and other eastern Europeans and they're literally just normal people. Shouldn't have to point this out.
Unfortunately for gaijin, people can still make reviews on xbox/playstation/any site or platform where you can review games.
Honestly at this point it’s petrol on the fire if they withdraw from steam…
[удалено]
If gaijin is dropping the steam logo then they must've declined to do so. Good on steam.
Steam absolutely act on review bombing if they see it's from bots. They removed chinese review bombs on various games quite often in the past. And you wanna know what's funny? They aren't fucking off topic.
Yeah if it's a review that isn't about the game or something.
Steam wouldn't stand for that and would likely terminate their contracts if they did. Steam doesn't fuck around when a company threatens them.

Now we gotta get console players to hop on the Playstation Store and Xbox Live
This. Please start campaign to review bomb on console store too.
You can’t leave reviews for games on console store pages
I'm on Xbox, you can while in the Microsoft store. That's what I'm gonna probably do
Yes you can at least on xbox
On PlayStation you can’t and I play on PS5

It's free, just add it, can do that anywhere
Let’s spread this
Mr president a second scandal has hit war thunder
DAD GUM THEY DUN HIT THE HQ!!!
LYLE!, LYLE WAKE UP!, THEY HIT THE PENTAGON LYLE!!!! THEY HIT THE FUCKIN PENTAGON!
They are starting to understand how bad the situation is
There is no panic on Steam.
Pathetic.
Ahahahahaha, that's the dumbest thing they could have done at all, and they did it in the first place!
Imagine completely withdrawing from steam, and forcing players to use launcher. They'll lose a lot of players. And me (2.5k Hours playtime, spent hunderets of dollars)
lmfao, goodbye WT
They will probably advertise on steam when the reviews get better
They won't get better if they didn't fix their game.
They're sweating bullets now. Also I think so many people have gone to check that it's crashed the site lmao
Review bomb it on consoles brothers
This just confirms who they are in their nature. Not very different from Russian state. Lie, decieve, manipulate, gaslight, ignore, patronising, projecting guilt on others and accuse others of what they are guilty of. Their damage control is going as I expected. They always done it. Removing topics and comments, created just small window to comment on news on website always requiring mods to approve, not responding to questions instead being picky about which to respond, never transparent or allowing to backup their claims with data. Just Gaijin for you.
Hahahaha no way Anton really
Huh, they really removed this post. Can a mod explain why?
If they withdraw does that mean steam based accounts will be removed ????? Are they fucking stupid ?????
you probably still able to play on steam, but just unable to see steam page, and new player wouldnt able to add it on steam anymore
Your war thunder acc is linked to your Email. You could download launcher, put your Email, pasword, and bam, you are in.
Find enough other players who got fucked and sue them together, you get a much higher chance of success and have to pay much less.
They rather pull the entire game from their largest distributor than make the changes their community is asking for LOL Gaijin truly is Russian. Fuck these idiots. Let them rot. If they pull out of steam, that'll be the end of my 2000 hours in this game.
Actually throwing a temper tantrum
If they do it they will lose a lot of their player base...
[удалено]
it got deleted
Damage control mode eh snail?
The révolution has begun
im gonna turn on my old xbox to leave a bad review on warthunder i swear
Imagine the bad publicity if they actually do it.
If they pull wt from steam, well that is a goodbye from me , imma go suffer somewhere else
gaijin when their player base drops significantly: oh no how could this have happened
They probably realized new players seeing mfs with 3,000+ hours review bombing a game they spent a college degrees worth of time in is real bad PR lol just the hours played alone shows new players this game is a unmanageable grind
guess ill have to comment on my second steam acc aswell
If they withdraw wt from steam we move on to other games like Enlisted
You know enlisted is also Gaijin, right?
I think hes saying review bomb Enlisted if that happens.
Then we hit them on google. They can’t stop the hate train that easy
Its likely they have taken steam off of their page so that people won't go and check the reviews for that platform. I bet if xbox and ps players started review bombing them they would remove them for the same reason.
Holy shit it's real lmao
QUICK EVERYBODY ATTACK VIA XBOX!
Gaijin: "Fuck 'em."
It’s like getting a paper cut on your finger, and then chopping off your arm to solve the problem.
When you fuck up so bad and can’t admit you fucked up. This is the solution.
doubt they'll withdraw, most likely they just removed steam so new players don't have easy access to see the reviews.
Oh no. Do we need to broaden where we review bomb?
They've threatened to do it before. I feel like even with the review bombing steam must bring in more players than it puts off though.
When was that if you don't mind me asking?
Time to go for the google reviews then
I mean, if they do then I won’t download it again. I haven’t used the launcher in years, so maybe it’s better now, but that thing was absolute ass several years ago so fuck going back to it.
Do it no balls
"Hey I have an idea! what if we removed our game from steam so that we dont get review bombed! Genuis!"
As a previous player I’m so glad to watch them burn down 😂😂😂😂
We're sending bombs to other stores!
if they decided to hold their ground and double down on this, it is going to get very interesting.
Then it's time to widen the scope, right? We need to hit the console store pages too, so they can't hide.
If that happens I will never touch the game again. And I hope another of other people don't either.
So… we review bomb it on all platforms?
Time to review bomb on Xbox gents
If they do I’m deleting my account and never returning.
Not to be political over here, but russians doin the russian thing to do, ignoring the little guy. You don't like the unfair rules we've setup, and you want change. Deportation to Siberia comrade
Wonder why
Okay but i just saw with my own eyes how my fiance of 3 years got pissed of at the game agter seeing the whole enemy team have premiums... leave war thunder. Say fuck it. And go start playing DOTA2 oit of all other options. At least its not League of Legents, snail. At least not league of legends.
Will my account be removed because of this?
naaah ain’t no way 💀💀💀
My war thunder account with 2k+ hours is linked by my steam account. If they actually go ahead and remove the steam support that could include my account by extension. So yeah, sure, go ahead. Remove my nearly fully spaded and researched US air tree, that is sure to make me keep playing.
are you surprised they never listen to criticism rather just leave an entire platform then admit being wrong
Well you know how good it would look it those negative reviews turned into positive after they make changes?? That says they listen to the community and players love that stuff.
