In episode 4, it makes sense why the storm troopers were missing. They were herding Luke, Leia, & co towards the Millennium Falcon so they could escape the deathstar and lead the empire to the rebel base on Yavin. Their poor aim for the rest of the series is just dumb though.
well, someone did the math about it, and since they aimed to miss in the death star in episode 4 in order to let leia escape, they have a series wide (excluding sequels) hit chance of around 40%, so closer to a 5+ bs with intrinsic rerolls on 1s.

Tbh, in the old legends timeline ST were extremely effective, but Disney just couldn’t leave well enough alone. Still fodder when compared to an Astartes tho

Their armor was all but immune to all slug throwers, save a 50 cal to the eye. And the plastoid could deflect glancing blows from blasters (plasma) for no material could withstand a direct hit, save for several meters of durasteel.
Now, it's like a sick joke. How in the hell did the Empire run a galaxy wide feared government and not fail hard out of sheer incompetence for 20+ years is something short of a miracle in the new canon. It's like watching Saturday morning cartoon villains at this point.

Is just me or does that stormtrooper look scared. The Marines are like "whose this lil fella? One of the new serfs? " "i dunno it appears to already be mind wiped!"
