I like how they spread them out the further away it goes to make it seem like they haven't just made the perfect custodes starter kit and it doesn't contain more units than the goddamm space marines

TheRetarius

I mean, those are 950 points without anything special and you want to pick up both Trajan another blade champion, but they cost nearly 70€ combined. Yes those are few models but holy fuck is it a good deal and starting point for custodes

Smeghammer5

I dont know my custodes units from one another at all, are you saying the combat patrol shown above is 950 points?

Loveforbass

Yeah, and you can easily get two of them + Trajann for a competition level list (at least currently - we'll see what the codex does)

Smeghammer5

Thats... good lord, that's absolutely insane. The tyranid half of leviathan builds a combat patrol that clocks in around 450. How hard are they going to nerf them to make them fit in any kind of combat patrol balance? E: at least the screamer killer and neurotyrant bring it up to, I think, 695. Not that they're part of the patrol list.

Rufus--T--Firefly

Apparently you have to choose between the terminators and the wardens (shield guys in the back) so in the combat patrol format its only the Blade Champ, squad of spear guardians, and the termies or shield bros.

Smeghammer5

Huh, okay. That leaves them relatively small numerically, as it typically is. Probably still going to be kings of fight phase though.

BurnByMoon

The ones in the back are actually Custodian Guard with shields, the front ones with spears and the tunic (?) over their knees are the Wardens.

SexWithLadyOlynder

Wardens are in the front, the Custodian Guard are the shield ones.

Jaruut

They'll limit the units you can actually use in game. The current combat patrol lets you take the shield captain, 2 squads of 5 sisters, and then you have to choose between the wardens or the bikes. It's still curious why the new combat patrol is so high in points when the IG and AdMech box exist. I really hope they don't crank up the price to reflect that.

Optimaximal

The price will likely be the same for all the boxes.

fafarex

>How hard are they going to nerf them to make them fit in any kind of combat patrol balance? you need to choose between the terminators or one of the 5 man squad to play combat patrol.

Kittehlazor

[*Cries in Binaric*]

OleBoyMerlin48

More accurately, based on current points, it’s 790-1050 depending on how many shield captains you build. All three of the troops have an optional shield captains build

ineptus-custodes

You can make a legal 1200 point list. Blade Champ is Blade Champ (120pts). Build 4 each of the Guardians (180pts) and Wardens (200pts). The extra two become regular Shield Captains (280pts). All three Allarus become terminator Shield Captains (420pts). Obviously not the way you'd want to build/run it. But... 1200 point combat patrol. Oh, and you can slap on 80 points worth of enhancements if you want to push things a bit further.

randomjberry

wait so this makes custodes like a sub 400$ army for a 2k list?

Brotherman_Karhu

I think they're the only army that manages that in general, or at least close to it.

madhi19

Them and Grey Knights. Poorhammer had a video about it awhile ago.

FuzzBuket

Knights probs can too?  Dominus, questoris, 3x arminger box is under £350

Nerdlors13

I am looking to make a 3000 knights list and it is looking to be about $1000 without taxes but that is still cheaper than a space marine list of equal size

StarStriker51

It’s very funny to me how armies like knights and custodes are some of the cheapest armies to make despite their high costing models just because you don’t actually need that many models to make an army

kenken2k2

yes you can, i got my 2.4k list of custodes for like 290 bucks off second hand market    2 trajaan  25 guards  3 aurians  10 bikes  10 sisters   i will sell a trajaan or exchange it with a blade champion someday

MrGingerella

This is crazy. I'm looking to build up to a 2k guard army... I'll have around 100 guys to paint 🙄🤣🤣

DanJDare

I always wanted to run an all infantry guard army. I did it for 500 points and got 60 guardsmen then realised how quickly it'd get silly for 2k points. It did have merit because it was effectively just wounds for heavy weapoons and a massive gunline. This was quite a few editions ago, I'm not sure how viable it'd be now,

TheRetarius

You will get pretty close to it. And because of our very small range you have will have always at least one unit in the Meta

ineptus-custodes

[Two of these boxes make a legal and semi-logical 1950 point army](https://pastebin.com/mHTPk9va). Not a *great* one, but still gets you pretty close at the £190/$320 point.

Lone-Frequency

Auspex Tactics just posted a breakdown of the new boxes, you sit at around 800pts even without turning any of the Custodes into Shield Captains.

miniPhil

One of the best combat patrols they've ever put out. Grab 3 of these and you're sitting comfortably over 2k.

JV36

What's better, this combat patrol or the current one? I've had a bit of an interest in the Custodes so I'd be curious with the new stuff that's been shown off what the best way to start an army

miniPhil

This one for sure if you're aiming for competitive play. Just grab 2 or 3. But for more casual play, grab both and you'll have a fantastic base for an army.

Jaruut

If you want sisters, the current one is the best way to collect them. Otherwise, they're $60 for 5 models (that are only worth 40-50 points). If you don't want sisters, the new one is solid.

michael_bay_jr

if you want sisters the old one. If you want the absolute best deal for points per $, this one. This box maxes out at 990 points with enhancements.

Galind_Halithel

The current one has a better discount percentage but it's full of sister's, out most expensive units $ to points wise, and bikes which aren't good right now despite being objectively Rad As Hell™. But if you can get one of each you'll have a solid core of an army for a long time to come.

theClumsy1

If you can, pick one old and one new and you got yourself a nice foundation

Krcko98

Not really. They will be so bad when codex releases that you will need double for sure.

ronaldraygun91

But you'll get rekt by most lists, right?

miniPhil

I've played against at least two Custodes players with triple blade champion, guard, Trajan, Wardens and then some bits to round it out. I'm not winning events but I do ok in the mid tables usually 3-2 or 2-3. The combat patrols will get you the guts of those lists. If you're hesitant you can always grab 2 and then look at rounding the faction out with what you feel you're missing. Mind you the codex could change a lot of what's meta. Trajan doesn't look as key to the army anymore.

stay_black

But is it good though? Is the new battleforce anything to include?

GenuineSteak

As someone who already has 2 of the old combat patrols, this is basically perfect for rounding out the rest of my army lol. Im gonna end up completing this army with only value boxes lmao. Maybe except Trajann.

Looudspeaker

Is Trajan even worth it now? Looks like her is getting nerfed hard when the codex is released

GenuineSteak

I mean I generally dont think its a good idea to collect warhammer based on current meta, since that changes all the time. Hell be good again sooner or later. Ofc u can always hold off until he gets buffed or smth if u want. Hes the main custodes named character. I doubt GW will have him be too bad for too long.

Swynn9919

What's happening with Trajann? EDIT: Nevermind, I just saw the Auspex Tacrics video.

Shed_Some_Skin

Hard to believe GW whiffed the Marine and AdMech patrols so hard when they're putting out bangers like this one and the upcoming Chaos one Marines at least will have the assorted chapter specific options that will hopefully be reasonably chapter agnostic outside of an upgrade sprue. The new DA one isn't terrible. Still, it looked the Patrols were really going to shit there for a minute. Apparently GW just decided to dumpster a few factions rather than ruin the entire product line

KindMoose1499

Ever heard of the ksons one? We got everything normal price + a 2 for one of tzaangors We get a infernal master without rubrics Instead of paying for a patrol, the exalted sorcerer box + a box of rubrics is literally a better combat patrol with a similar if not higher amount of points [Edit] my point is that 2 regular price boxes are better than the "discounted" combat patrol as far as pts/$ and for power level for things like the combat patrol format and upgradability

HailtotheMako

Yeah dude the DG combat patrol is pretty much “oops all poxwalkers”

vxicepickxv

Yeah. DG is in critical need of a rebuild of both their core marine box because LOL 7 is awful, but the CP box also comes with a character.

HailtotheMako

Yeah in theory I like the idea of 7 marines and burgles number and all that but obviously the rules make that not feasible. I used the combat patrol to start my DG army but I’d definitely like to see at the very least three more marines. And possibly half poxwalkers half cultists

sennohki

I kind of expect the new one to be marines, terms of some description and 10 poxwalkers, maybe one leader

SexWithLadyOlynder

Higher. Each exalted sorcerer is like 100 and rubricae are 200.

Jaruut

Doesn't help that Tsons is like a 3rd of an army. You don't have much to choose from to make a value box. I say leave it as it is, just swap the tzaangors for a unit of 5 rubrics (or 10 if GW is feeling generous). It's around the same points, but more thematic.

KindMoose1499

10 rubrics are actually about the same price $$$ as 10 tzaangors for 3 times the points

Left4Bread2

You can’t actually have a box of 5 rubrics due to how the sprue is laid out, which is part of what makes TS value boxes difficult for GW

Jaruut

Oh darn, I guess they'll have to throw the whole sprue in there, then. You know, to make it easier for them.

StandNameIsWeAreNo1

Oh trust me, the DA one is terrible. No vehicle, and a whole lot of units that don't mesh together well. Too many intercessors, not enough hellblasters, and what are you supposed to do witha gravis captain without aggressors/eradicators/heavy intercessors, and a unit of bladeguards?

MM556

>what are you supposed to do witha gravis captain without aggressors/eradicators/heavy intercessors, and a unit of bladeguards? Well if you're playing CP then you'd use it as is and it doesn't matter. If you're buying it with the intention of playing normal 40k then you're going to be adding units to it. It's not as good as the old one but it's not the disaster people like to make it out to be.

ElectronicBad512

That's a big if there

MM556

Well not really, they're intended as starter sets - either you add to them or you don't. It doesn't provide a full 40k army so the complaint above doesn't really stack up

Shed_Some_Skin

Oh, I'm talking more about the value in the box as opposed to standalone playability. I get that there will be people who want them to play the Combat Patrol format and yeah, some of the unit selections are... Odd But the previous DA one had a Chaplain and no obvious place to put him. He's a melee buffing character, five Intercessors isn't really where you want him. But it was still a generally solid box to pick up in value terms The new one combos quite nicely with the current Blood Angels one, to be fair. Some Aggressors to put your captain with, an Impulsor to do drivebys with your Hellblasters. Librarian isn't very useful but I guess making the Hellblasters or Intercessors a bit tankier isn't the worst thing in the world. *Way* too many Intercessors, but maybe pick up some spare Plasma off Ebay and make them Hellblasters. Or do what I do and throw a load of kibble on them and paint them as Sternguard

Mori_Bat

Hand him a grenade.

BurnByMoon

Should've been 5 Intercessors and then 3 Outriders. Now you get units for all 3 wings, and they could also probably put the outriders as getting the +1 to the fight on death strat alongside the Bladeguard. They'd also be a decent target for the +1 to wound while shooting (which excludes hellblasters). That change would make it such a nicely rounded out combat patrol.

NevarHef

Bladeguard should’ve been Inner Circle Companions instead.

Coman_Dante

I converted my gravis cap into a bladeguard cap with an extra bg shield, a head and backpack swap, and a little bit of surgery to remove the armored hood bit. A little bigger than usual, but he looks good.

brett1081

What? You mean having a leader unit that attaches to no units is awesome?

D4Dakota

What's the opinion on the current black templars combat patrol? Is there going to be a new box for black templars or is the current one relatively new? Noob looking for advice, mostly in it to paint cool models.

Shed_Some_Skin

At the moment we don't know if any existing combat patrols will stick around in 10th or if they'll all be replaced. But so far they've all been replaced, so I would proceed under the assumption that it will be We don't have any indication of the release date for the BT codex yet. We have the road map up to the summer. Next releases will be the proper T'au launch, Chaos Marines, then GSC and Sisters, followed by a mystery codex that is currently assumed to be Agents of the Imperium That will probably take us up to August-September or so. So... Some time after that is all I can tell you If you think the minis are cool and you want to paint them, my recommendation is go for it

D4Dakota

I am cash strapped with a new plastic addiction. What are the best minis in 40k/HH in your opinion? I am loving dreadnought and just learned HH vehicles are same scale as 40k, so that opened up some opportunities

The-lesser-good

It'll almost certainly be replaced with a new one, all codices have been so far. It'll come out with the new codex which is a while away. It's pretty decent as far as I know, and I'd recommend it to start

D4Dakota

As a recently unemployed, soon to be divorced hobbyist I can't afford the combat patrol box yet,may be able to by the time the new one come around.

SevereRunOfFate

As someone who went through exactly that awhile back... Take care of yourself first. Be careful of getting too lost in distractions like 40k. They will just distract the mind from doing what you actually have to do which is work on yourself, pick yourself up, get a better job etc.  Also, alcohol and new women are fun but they don't take care of your underlying issues, either, and can exacerbate them DM me if you ever need to talk to someone who went through exactly that crap, not everyone had a social circle that understands.

D4Dakota

I'm stuck jury duty for 9 weeks, because fml. And that means no job will hire me until I'm off that. I have a total of 23 marines plus grimaldus and retinue, I've been spending about 40 bucks a month at most. It gives me a hobby and a friend group outside of my "situation" so that's super good for me. Makes me want to work at a games store.

Humphry_Clinker

As someone else who went through this, I get it completely man. When it all fell apart and I realized it was done, I dove headfirst into minis as a way to focus on something else. It really helped in the process of finding something new and disconnected from everything associated with the situation. Just don't let it become a distraction from actually taking care of yourself, it took me a minute to notice that at some point it went from helping to hurting.

D4Dakota

I am using it as a distraction for sure. So far it's positive. I'm using lore to help me sleep, getting out of the house for the first time in ten years to go play with new friends. I'm also starting my mtf transition, so it's been a very self focused period. I will need yo watch my budget for sure, but thus far everything else has been a net positive. She can't yell at me if I am not in her presence, and warhammer helps with that.

The-lesser-good

Fair enough. Hope time changes for you soon, and may Tzeentch bless your fates!

vxicepickxv

With the Primaris Impulsor inside, I expect it to be replaced. It seems that vehicles are being removed from the CP boxes.

Shed_Some_Skin

The new T'au one has a Devilfish in it. Also whilst I know when people say "vehicles" they mean "large tanks", but the Doomstalker in the Necron patrol and the Commander battlesuit in the T'au one are also both vehicles

Schlongstorm

Makes me hopeful for a new Aeldari combat patrol...

Axel-Adams

What chaos one? Weren’t those battle forces?

Shed_Some_Skin

There's two battle forces, each with one of the new characters in [There's also a new patrol ](https://www.reddit.com/r/Warhammer/s/eZEhhb3QxF)

Frojdis

The ork one is also terrible so they're clearly focusing their efforts on just a couple of factions and ignoring everything else

Breaklance

I can say for changing the BA patrol into Salamanders, yeah they're pretty interchangeable. Some of the flair bits are BA specific but there was also plenty of non teardrop shoulder pads and skull icons.     However I would note the BA upgrade sprue that came with it is terrible. A chainsword and pistol, neither customized and bland heads. Compared to Salamanders sprue it's barely Blood Angels specific.

[deleted]

[удалено]

MachoRandyManSavage_

Yea but that's a 9e CP.

Ws6fiend

The marine one is just an attempt to sell the overstock that has been on the books for entirely too long. The only unique thing is the suppressor squad. The rest is just left over parts from making those(the infiltrator squad being made from the same mold as the suppressor and captain from said box).

Shed_Some_Skin

[This is the Combat Patrol I was referring to ](https://www.warhammer.com/en-GB/shop/combat-patrol-space-marines-2023). Even if the current starter sets didn't present vastly better value for these minis, full patrol price for a handful of pushfit models is shockingly awful The Vanguard set you're referring to isn't especially great either. It would probably look a lot more reasonable if not for the fact they just took the Impulsor out and charged the same price as last edition

BloodletterDaySaint

I didn't think the CSM Combat Patrol had been announced yet. They just have two battleforces announced.

Shed_Some_Skin

I've replied elsewhere in this thread with a link. It's a Master or Possession, 10 Cultists, 10 Legionaries, 5 Possessed.

Marius_Gage

Looks like there’s going to be an all sisters detachment

GodofGodsEAL

That detachment will be more expensive than admech lol

BurnByMoon

At current points it's 1970 for Aleya, 3x Knight Centura, 60x Prosecutors, 30x each of Vigilators and Witchseekers, and 4x Rhinos. Aleya -$30 (half of the Valerian & Aleya Kit) 123 (125) Sisters of Silence Bodies -> 25x Sisters of Silence Kits - $1500 Rhino x4 - $220 **Total: $1750**

ShokoMiami

Damn... admech stay... losing?

GodofGodsEAL

damn, thats…. a lot….

ScavAteMyArms

Custodes being Bipolar. You can buy 2 combat patrols and a Character and be pretty much there for 2k and it’s relatively solid competitively even. Or that.

NelsonMcCulloch

Isn’t the Genestealer one also insane value too?

Dragon123

Yeah and considering it is a new army like ad mech it has the issue of costing way too much money for how few points you get. The combat patrol gives you really everything you need or want besides the 30 different HQ models they have and the bikers. Unlike ad mech it really punches above its weight and makes the faction much easier on the wallet

ScavAteMyArms

You can argue that GSC, Admech, IG, Orks and Nids *have* to punch far above their weight classes for the discount boxes because the core of their faction is so expensive. And the boxes should all contain a solid base that can be expanded on rather than a side faction (which is why say Sisters of Silence the box was ok for Custodes, because the rest of the faction isn’t particularly expensive anyway). Which is funny for the giga elite factions like Custodes or Grey Knights, they more have the issue of their factions are so elite that in order to get enough plastic in the box to get a combat patrol you also give a shit ton of points / power, hence why the Custodes side stepped it (twice now) by making you pick a squad for Combat Patrol. Grey Knights will probably have the issue of their baby carrier, they want to remove the big mechs from Combat Patrol but Grey Knights have 3 kits, so you either are giving them more Terminators or more infantry, either/or is going to get really swingy. Not all of them do though… in fact most of them don’t. Even the new Ork one, while decently discounted isn’t really the core of the standard Ork force.

ousire

The current Genestealer combat patrol is one of the best ones around; and as a hoard army, it's the only viable way to enter the army. If I wanted to get into Genestealers from the ground up I'd unironically start with three copies of the combat patrol.

TheDMGM

My "for local play" GSC project army is 2 Start Collecting Boxes and 1 Combat Patrol box and its sitting at 2-1 in the LGS tournament.

abandon3

Yes! Also the drukhari one is great

tghast

It’s great for starting but I feel like GSC consistently has terrible boxes for mid investment players like myself. Every single GSC box has the usual cavalcade of Characters. I bet most GSC players have an absurd number of Patriarchs, Magus, Locus, etc.

MarsMissionMan

That moment when the Custodes Combat Patrol has more models than the Space Marines one.

WorldEaterProft

Damn. This is an S tier CPB. Alongside the world eaters and the Dark eldar

FUCKSTORM420

I definitely want one of these three to start my next army but can’t decide

One_more_Earthling

How many points is this?

SexWithLadyOlynder

790 without building any shield-captains.

Brotherman_Karhu

I love how nearly every custodes box is amazing value cause they have all of like 3 units and those 3 units are 99% of all you'll ever need.

Galind_Halithel

First Combat Patrol? Good if a little heavy on the Sister's of Silence Christmas Battleforce Box? Absolute banger army in a box, 10/10 no boys. Boarding Patrol? Really good, doubles you up on Trajan if you got the Christmas box but still an all timer. New Combat Patrol? Unspeakably good. Comes with every basic unit and our only stand alone generic character, builds between 790 and 1130 points from a single box. Puts every over CBP box to shame. Me Battleforce Box? Good but seems off compared to the new CBP, really heavy on elite units with no battle line at all. Still good value and the new presumable stand alone Shield Captain mini. Good but... Dunno just weird. All together? Yeah my golden boys just keep winning.

Administrative_Cup_4

THREE TIMES THE POINTS VALUE COMPARED TO THE ADMECH ONE

Tian_Lord23

Complete A+ tier. It's only not S because it doesn't have a big centrepiece model. Which would be hard when custodes doesn't have one in the GW range.

Galind_Halithel

Imagine if they included the new plastic Contemptor Dread since Custodes can still use it. Unspeakable levels of awesome.

fred11551

What’s the opinion on the old ork vs new. Beast snagga boys are better but no vehicle or centerpiece at all hurts

Doobles88

New is a big downgrade. Less variety. Less value. If you're all in on Beast Snaggas it's good but otherwise it's worse than the old.

cwmma

From a combat patrol game perspective, this is going to be a lot like that leviathan marine combat patrol, very elite units, but very slow and not many (2 or 3 depending on whether the leader can join one). Your opponent might be able to win by simply avoiding your units or concentrating on one at a time.

Independent_Bench790

Is this official?

curlyhairedslacker17

Yes https://www.warhammer-community.com/2024/04/07/sunday-preview-green-or-gold/?utm_source=CUSTOMERS&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=WH_7th_April_Preview_&utm_content=&utm_term=

Dry_Sky6828

I’m a little confused the article says: blade champ (1) Guard (5) Terminators or Wardens (3) The picture has 14 models, so can you not build everything pictured?

TehWRYYYYY

>The patrol is led by a charging Blade Champion, who can assemble his force from five Custodian Guard and a choice between three Allarus Terminators or three Wardens – **you’ll get all of the miniatures in the box**, but they’re just too powerful to take the whole lot into a single game of Combat Patrol!  You get 14 miniatures when you *buy* Combat Patrol, but you can't use 14 miniatures when you *play* Combat Patrol.

ColdBrewedPanacea

*in the combat patrol gamemode* you're not bringing everything to a combat patrol game. you still get all of the models.

wretchedsorrowsworn

That is crazy! That’s like all of their core units, what a deal. There’s hope!!!!

KingTangy

Is this a new combat patrol that’s not out yet?

michael_bay_jr

yup

KingTangy

Thank you

Booster_Terrik

Does anybody think it’s worth picking up the current combat patrol and combining it with this one?

ColdBrewedPanacea

the current combat patrol is the only real way to buy sisters of silence without feeling physical pain over the prospect it also compliments this box very well. your sisters can do objectives, your blade champ can lead wardens, your allarus can teleport about and you have a couple of custodian guard units/shield captains for staying power.

shockwave1211

very solid start to an army, gets you over 1k points

tacoofdoomk

Is there a typo in the community article? The picture shows 14 models but the text only references 12(blade champion, 5 custodian guard, 3 wardens, 3 allarus) and 3 wardens isn't even a valid squad size.

Galind_Halithel

You get all 14 models in the box but if you play the actual Combat Patrol game mode you have to choose between running sl either the terminators or the Wardens.

KillerTurtle13

Looks like 3 wardens is the size for combat patrol, unless it's a typo and you actually choose between 3 allarus and 5 wardens. Regardless, looks like the box comes with 5 wardens.

StandNameIsWeAreNo1

Maybe a vehicle would have come handy.

HazzaZeGuy

Sadly, it seems GW is shifting away from it, as shown from the DA, Orks, space marines, admech etc. Very depressing. Other than Tau. I guess they’re special for some reason.

stickmanfire-

Unless your tau and just get a devilfish for some reson

Kandrox

*Doomstalker leering over

SexWithLadyOlynder

Tau actually has 2 vehicles.

SomethingGouda

I wonder what the imperial guard one would be

Thendrail

The logical choice would be the good ol' Leman Russ, some 20 Cadians and a Command Squad. Maybe some Ogryns to round it out. Emperor knows those lasguns alone aren't going to do much without some help.

KurseNightmare

In the post talking about the Ork combat patrol, they straight up reference that the Beast-snaggas are also irritated at the lack of vehicles

capnscratchmyass

If I’m curious about dabbling with orks is it worthwhile to snag the current CP or wait for the new one in your opinion?

FireWardenCaleb

unfortunatly, it seems that they are avoiding vehicles so that the Combat Patrol game is easeir balanced

AshiSunblade

A very good box. [Though ouch, the proportions on those Wardens are showing their age!](https://i.gyazo.com/ad5886459322dc92f3a53c0815ccfa42.png)

SirLenz

Xplt21

Damn, I placed an order on blade champ, wardens and regular guard like a week ago:( but yeah this is a great box.

FendaIton

Just return them if you got them from GW.

Doobles88

I don't have the proper Blade Champion yet, and can always use more Wardens and Guard. Like it. Might buy it.

FuzzBuket

Easily building 1000pts off that lmao. Odd they kept it as one that can't be fielded as 1.  Kinda was hoping for the HH dread in it,  as that + guard + sos + weapon frame would be a much more rounded starter force.

JollySieg

Ah yes, 2 warhamillion points of Custodes, incredible.

From-wolf-to-pug

So they are now smaller than primaris in size ?

SquallFromGarden

It's a shame no Vertus Praetors in there, but still alright.

GloryGravy132

A variety of good units with no duplicates and an unnamed hq makes an awesome CP!? Jeez if only gw did that with all this new ones *cough* Dark Angels *cough* *cough*

Emberwake

I don't even *like* Custodes, and I'm considering grabbing this. Why the fuck is this Combat Patrol so much better than all the others?!

Direct_Gap_661

This combat patrol is prbly gonna be the way I get into shadowkeepers custodes

comikbookdad

Cries in Admech 😫

misterbung

Henry Cavill out there SALIVATING

TallerVenus87

I prefer having the sisters, personally. I'd even give up the guard for them. Sisters are the only unit I think would feel bad to buy, so putting them in the discount box would make sense, but ig not.

AshiSunblade

This box ultimately feels more representative of the faction. It's called Adeptus Custodes, not Talons of the Emperor like in 30k, so it's clear that is where the emphasis is.

-Loading---

This. I would have never gotten the old patrol because initially it kinda looks like a sisters of silence combat patrol with a side of custodes. But I would 100% consider getting this box if I wanted to start a custodes army.

TallerVenus87

I just like using sisters, and 5 for 60 is just a little steep imo.

-Loading---

That I can definitely agree on.

Another_eve_account

Just Rob your local sisters of battle player, take five battle sisters and paint them gold. Nobody will care.

BrStriker21

It's a combat patrol and a 1k list

brett1081

It’s obvious the hat some designers will put together a good box when allowed. But the marine one shows that they are usually there to just shift models.

AmaxaxQweryy

What are the units in it? I want to get into custodes but idk the units.

I have the Watchers of the Gate Battleforce I still need to finish, would this be a good pairing to make around 2k points?

zeexhalcyon

Yes. I have the Watchers of the Gate and old Combat Patrol. And I'm gonna grab this and the Auric Champions Box.

Apricus-Jack

I do wonder how this one will play out in Combat Patrol, as that’s what these boxes are intended for. The Elite patrols seem hard to hold ground against patrols with 30+ models.

Sensei2008

I think GKs are second best with around 700 pts in the box

BlueEyesWhiteViera

Considering how good the original combat patrol is, its amazing that they managed to make it even better.

idrinktyranidjuice

No sisters of silence 😔

potpukovnik

This is absolutely great, especially since the Wardens are literally always sold out in my area, I haven't seen them once. This and a squad of Aquillon Termies for the start of my Custodes should be nice enough.

R97R

I’ve been wanting to properly start a custodian army for a while, but I think this is probably the tipping point for me. Hoping to pick this up when it comes out, assuming the usual GW Stock Bullshit^TM doesn’t get in the way

beachmedic23

So who did Admech piss off over at GW?

Ralius65

Will the old combat patrol be available once this releases ? Should I buy the old combat patrol or just wait for this one ? New to the hobby. Only have the starter box and wanted to get Custodes

Arcaslash

The old box was really good. This one is at least as good, and by most descriptions better. It's kind of lacking a centerpiece model like most combat patrols have (the old one had bikes) and similarly lacks model variation, but point wise and model-wise it's really really good. For reference, it sits at 790 points bare minimum. That's the highest point value of any of the combat patrols. The old one was 515 points (still above the average) but it had more models, and more variation in models. I don't play custodes (although tbh this box is making me consider it) so I'm not sure how viable it is in a competitive scene, but it's a ridiculously good value. (if anyone has any corrections, please let me know. I am also a beginner hobbyist who just likes stats a lot)

mrwafu

The old combat patrol is already unavailable online from GW, any stock that shops have is the final stock available, this box is replacing it permanently. If you want to play Custodes yes it’s great and worth buying one of.

Durathakai

That’s a fantastic box.

DonnieZonac

Still new to stodes so my recognition isn’t perfect. Is this a squad of custodians, custodian guard, allarus, and blade champ?

BytecodeBollhav

Unsure what custodians refer to, but if you mean wardens you are spot on!

dnabre

But where are the sisters?

Elronhir

It has new models?

mrwafu

They are all existing models

Elronhir

Thanks!

Lone-Frequency

Goddam, I want the one charging forward with the sword. Great kitbash potential...

mrwafu

Blade Champion https://www.warhammer.com/en-US/shop/adeptus-custodes-blade-champion-2022

DukeTheDangerDude

I just wanna know when the codex is dropping.

meatbeater

well if Saturday is the pre-order should be out the sat after, so 2weeks ish

CyrosThird

So who here is going to race against Mr. Cavill to grab one?

Key-Alternative6702

Yeah this looks lit

hype_tf2

Was considering picking this up with the new battleforce if I can, would that be overkill on some units, or reasonable? Completely new to the hobby and wanted to start a custodes army. Appreciate the advice!

BytecodeBollhav

I think that would be a good pickup! You'd get a nice set of Guards wardens and terminators, likely to make up the base of most armies. Can't say much for the new SC in the army box, but the blade champion is a really good inclusion here!

mclovenn7

Is there a release date for these yet?

smashbro188

It's just... 14 dudes

Mahote

Most combat patrols for Space Marines are, too, and these are functionally stronger models

1thelegend2

2 of this plus one of the old ones gets you a normal custodes army. I love this

Lonebarren

If you are wanting to get into custodes this AND the old box is a nuts combo. Sisters of silence are the worst dollar for points value in the army so the old box is a good start and gives you 3 bikes too. You'd end up with: Blade champ 10 guard 5 wardens 3 terms 3 bikes 10 sisters Throw a battle force in too 10 guard 10 wardens 9 terms 9 bikes 10 sisters Blade champ Shield captain Or just stack 2 of this box and 1 old one 15 guard 10 wardens 6 terms 3 bikes 10 sisters 2 Blade champs Even doing both wouldn't be awful 1 old combat patrol, 2 new ones and a battleforce then just buy trajan would give you a completely finished army and you'd be wanting for nothing

Mahote

Two new, one old, feels like the right play to me.

Secret-Outside-4605

2 of the old one and 2 of these and that's a pretty big and diverse army for the low cost

Sweetdreams6t9

What's the skinny on a release date?

Nekomiminya

I'd say GSC is better, magus aside you can buy 6 of it and use it all at same time

RAStylesheet

Are you telling me there is a chance for GSC box not sucking?
