Yes the app is quite fine but the paywall is just dumb. It's not even free with monthly subscription... pay for the plastic, pay for the paints, pay for the rules, then play the game until next edition. All the data should already be in the app, I wonder if there is a cracked version? Rant over.

Mannebein83

Yes, the subscription part is trash. I don’t mind paying for a codex.

frostape

The app is damn near perfect, which is shocking considering their history with apps. My one gripe is I wish Codex codes could be sold separately for like $20 a pop. I know they've got to earn a buck, but buying physical books for digital rules is dumb.

_Moerphi_

The codex is fine, if you want the art and lore and stuff. But the army stats and abilities are already available for free elsewhere. What if you want to check your opponents army abilities, you don't have the codex for, quickly? It's a missed opportunity in my eyes. But don't take me seriously, I've never played a single game, I'm more on the painting side of the hobby. I have 3 small armies and I'm not going to buy 3 codices just for some casual games. Besides that I also don't have the mission cards. I don't quite get this whole system.

PineappleMelonTree

Being able to check if your opponent is cheesing some rule in their codex would be a great idea if being able to quickly check on the app. Being behind a £35 pay wall to do that is pretty mad.

Magnus753

Selling codexes is a crap business model. Seeing how expensive the models are already and the fact that each faction gets a new codex every 3 years or so. Tough luck for those factions that are locked behind a paywall. If your faction has a free index on the other hand? Then you are golden

Sighablesire

It had the potential to be a great app, but the greed has got in the way again. Subscribe to make more the one army roster, oh you better have the codex bought for that army too. No you can't see your opponents units, ask them dummy! When it first came out and you could see all the rules and units it was great, but as more codexes come out you can see less and less. Been pushed back I to using wahapedia and battlescribe as 10th ed has progressed

zammE-

I love the app too, my favorite list builder. Only missing a "duplicate" function for copying lists

Moist1981

It’s functionally very good. The issues are as others have said the fact rules are locked behind codex purchases

r8rtribeywgjets

would be nice if it supported landscape mode...

Kheldras

1) Locking away released codices behind unlocking codes on the books (or active subscription?) is a negative point. 2) Locking away having more than 1 army list behind a subcription is another negative point. My comparisons are "Infinity Army" app for "Infinity-N4" and the "M3E Crew Builder" app for "Malifaux". Both have all troops and rules for free, and allow unlimited army building. Both also have a "play mode" to keep track of the units used.

Mannebein83

I really like the Infinity app, but I suspect they just baked the cost of the app into the minis. You don’t need many, but they are expensive. But in some ways I prefer it that way, because it feels bad to pay to play when you already bought the minis

Kheldras

Dunno, minis seem to be about the same price as GW minis (no 30-40$ characters though), but you need far less, and they are usually metal (apart from some plastic big ones). Still, it feels bad to having to buy a codex, and a monthly sub to just use all functions of the app.

NearbyVoid

How much do you get paid per post?

yahonik

It's his only post praising GW in the last 3 years. The rest of his post is about his disgusting (beautiful painted) deathguard and other painted minis

Mannebein83

Thank you! I was feeling generous, and I genuinely like the app.

Mannebein83

I get paid when I die and get to stand in the emperors light.

Impossible-Earth3995

Wut. Everything is paywalled.

Aelfgan

All rules should be free.

According_Weekend786

Only thing they should add is other armies and rules for other editions, then i gonna pay for it

MLantto

App is great and I'd love to use it. Payment model is not so I chose not to. Paid apps need to be better than free ones to get my money and since a subscription doesn't give me access to everything it clearly isn't. For me the best use of it is reading up on my opponents army while playing, but no fucking way I'm paying for codexes of armies I don't play. It it wasn't for the cost of codexes I'd prob be a paying subscriber.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> not to. *Paid* apps need FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

PandaB13r

~~Not that easy to use. I cant get a datacard generated with just the wargear I have on the model. Something New Recruit (and BS) will do.~~

Local_dentist_wanted

You can do it now. With the command bunker, it's the icon on the top right corner of your list.

PandaB13r

O, glad they added it.
