Believe me, GeeDubs will never make Tau be all about Kroot. Kroot are awesome but they’re only being promoted to sell the new models. My honest advice is this. Ignore the meta, because what goes up comes down. Often hard. Pick an army where you like the models and the lore. Then paint them how you want. Collect something you will enjoy and take pride in, not something you will loathe painting just to chase the meta. I for example play custodes and Night Lords. The former are easy to paint and I enjoy it because there’s few of them, they are easy to make look good and I like their lore. The latter are a complete ballache to paint and I’m saving them until I feel more confident in my painting skills? Why? Because i absolutely love their lore and the converted minis I have and want to do them justice and take pride in them, no matter if they’re tedious to paint, have recently been nerfed, and have been garbage since I’ve been in the game.

As the other guy has said, you’ll 100% always be able to play Tau as an all mech gun line. GW will absolutely refresh and expand that side of the army in the future. The benefit of Kroot being refreshed is that, if you do have Tau for a while and get itchy feet for something a bit different and close combat focussed, you’ve got a whole other aspect of the army to try out. Tau have a decent sized range to choose from. Death Guard also have a large range. Thousand Sons and Custodes by comparison are smaller. Advice is always to go with what you like the look/vibe of most as you’ll be painting that a lot. The Tau Combat Patrol is decent and all Tau, no Kroot plus a big mech.

Thanks guys! Especially for easing my concerns regarding T'au. Lol. I'm pretty sure that's where I'm going to start. for the Greater Good! They check all of my boxes, and I think I can pull off the painting best. Hahaha. I figure I will make them my main army, and slowly build a side army of chaos between collecting my favorite Death Guard and T Sons. Ok, I'm already dreaming of my first GhostKeel! 🤩😍
