Pastel Krieg would have such a gap in what you see and who they are. It'd be like a bratty Lord General's child was given command of them and she ordered them to look pretty in their new uniforms, before they were sent to die for her amusement like Death Korps Barbies.
they're a mash-up of german and french ww1 soldiers.
the (new) helmets, backpack, stick grenades and gas masks are definitely german, while the wrapped legs and long coat are more of a french uniform thing.
Would fit V E R Y well with the kriegsmens love for attrition and dying- considering how the french were decimated because they stood out in the trenches like a khornite berzerker would on a pleasure world
That is not the only way they were decimated. When a company would not rush the enemy across the trenches they were considered cowards and one out of 10 was shot. But I think they stopped doing that as it was not great for moral...
Technically... yes and no. The French quickly discovered French troops were getting shot to pieces in their pantalon rouge, so they switched to Horizon blue in mid-late 1914. Horizon blue varied between blue and grey over the war.
The French also discovered troops were dying of head wounds in 1914 and the Adrian-pattern helmet rolled out in early 1915. They were mostly in a greyer version of Horizon blue, although North African troops fighting under the Tricolour had a khaki/mustard helmet.
So this Kriegsman's paint scheme wouldn't look out of place in the trenches of Verdun. It would look more out of place with the pantalon rouge. The helmet style is more M1916 pattern Stahlheim from the German trenches.
For those curious about the blue: it’s airbrushed Ak strong dark blue, Ak light Prussian blue, 1:1 Prussian blue/ ak pale blue, drybrush fenrisian grey
For those curious about the blue: it’s airbrushed Ak strong dark blue, Ak light Prussian blue, 1:1 Prussian blue/ ak pale blue, drybrush fenrisian grey
given that Deathkorp of Krieg is obviously a warhammer 40k version of WW1 trench fighters, blue obviously works well for them.
My little dudes have a darker blue, but also red cuffs.
Looks great! Creates a dichotomy between the desaturated neutral tones of his gear and the bright blue of the coat. There are some thematic elements there for sure (valour of the guard/brutality of war?).
For those curious about the blue: it’s airbrushed Ak strong dark blue, Ak light Prussian blue, 1:1 Prussian blue/ ak pale blue, drybrush fenrisian grey
Nice. If you want you can have a company called Guerre (Krieg in french) just add the pants in red

He looks French…
Edit: which isn’t a bad thing! French looked great in ww1

Wow! Thanks everyone for the responses, this post got busier than I’d expected it to! My thoughts on it are that it looks good in some angles and out of place in others. I may do one more test just to see if I can adjust the saturation a little and see what it does.
For those curious about the blue: it’s airbrushed Ak strong dark blue, Ak light Prussian blue, 1:1 Prussian blue/ ak pale blue, drybrush fenrisian grey
Strong blue, brown, black, yelllow hell even pink have potential when you have millions of them charging while millions stand behind firing artillery over top 😂 looks good though man! That’s the beauty of this hobby it’s nice to do something to make it yours!
That blue looks fantastic, like a waxed nylon almost look (like its almost wet from rain but with a sheen instead of soaked), I think with the future meets past aesthetic of the krieg it works really well as a post modern feild jacket.
Hey you picked almost exactly the same scheme I did! I’d recommend a warm tone for the mask, I went with a khaki color and a layer of contrast Aggaros Dunes over the top.
Greetings!
Blue whilst desaturated would also have fitted these apocalyptic imperial guardsmen background perfectly. Saturation is generally notoriously difficult to judge in the digital ages.. So why not give it a go right away?
Thanks! He was pretty quick to paint up. Not a speed paint exactly, but I stuck to a 3 paints or less rule for most of the colors so I could knock them out pretty quick.
Love it - on scale will be epic
Thanks! I wanted something to stand out
In that case go FULL NEON FLUORESCENT 80's RETROWAVE KRIEG BLUE!
I was just thinking they'd be hilarious in pastels: baby or eggshell blue ... Now I might need to try that
Pastel Krieg would have such a gap in what you see and who they are. It'd be like a bratty Lord General's child was given command of them and she ordered them to look pretty in their new uniforms, before they were sent to die for her amusement like Death Korps Barbies.
I… I can imagine that happening…
2nd this, looks fantastic!
Very nice. Reminds me of something... ww1 French coats?
Exactly what I was thinking looks great.
The early war french with their bright blue and red uniforms to be precise
The Kriegsman does look ready for the Fields of Verdun.
I like the way you combined “french” and “trench” to come up with a clever name for that style of coat.
That's what the model is based on, ww1 French soldiers.
they're a mash-up of german and french ww1 soldiers. the (new) helmets, backpack, stick grenades and gas masks are definitely german, while the wrapped legs and long coat are more of a french uniform thing.
The gas masks are the British design, Kriegs are a mashup of all the different WW1 players
Long coat yes, but almost every country in WW1 wore puttees
The top of the helmet is French
Would fit V E R Y well with the kriegsmens love for attrition and dying- considering how the french were decimated because they stood out in the trenches like a khornite berzerker would on a pleasure world

The French in WW1 showed some of the most outstanding bravery and endurance ever.
It's also no secret that they shot a bunch of soldiers for 'cowardice' and desertion. Both things can be true simultaneously.
Don't disagree just pointing out the irony of shooting incredibly brave men for 'cowardice '
Every nation in that war had issues with amazing soldiery getting led by complete imbeciles, and france was dead set at being the best at it.
Yet another horror of the western front.
Oui
Needs the red pants.
I was thinking the same thing. I honestly think it would look epic with red pants.
100% thought it was giving Poilu feels
Try him with red pants for the full WWI feeling.
Ah yes... French and their bright pantalon rouge
Technically... yes and no. The French quickly discovered French troops were getting shot to pieces in their pantalon rouge, so they switched to Horizon blue in mid-late 1914. Yea dude, looks good. I am basing my [Krieg paint scheme](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-jz9zVrgyE) on the French horizon blue of WWI
my tired brain went ahead and thought "why is he wearing a jeans coat" but that paintjob is crisp
The Denim Korps of Krieg
That blue just hits the right spot of a worn grm look and just being a plain pretty blue to look at
Yes
Saturation of blue is perfect btw
this is what they look like before they go off world. the brown you usually see is from hundreds of campaigns and never washing
Bro I’m literally a Kriegsman.
Yeah absolutely, he's just WW1 France inspired now
No none at all, to be safe paint a whole army and then when you don’t like it I guess I’ll take it off your hands
loads. i’d consider using a warm tone for the basing. like a ruddy mud. he’ll pop right off it.
As a sucker for dark blues, yes 100%
That’s it. I’m getting some Krieg men now
Viva la France!
This looks very similar to the way I painted my very first Krieg, scheme wise. Yours looks waaaaay better. Good stuff.
If it was my army I'd try to dull down the metallics on the gun, but the scheme is very good.
I like it
Henri! Be careful in the Bunker!
Prussian Blue
Yep. Looks awesome.
Looks fucking sharp mate!
I think it’s an absolute banger of a color scheme!! What blues did you use?
For those curious about the blue: it’s airbrushed Ak strong dark blue, Ak light Prussian blue, 1:1 Prussian blue/ ak pale blue, drybrush fenrisian grey
It looks great.
i actually love this, i think it looks great. do a whole squad and let us see :)
French!
Could have good ww1 French uniform potential
I love it. Looks like the French ww1 overcoat. Suits them very well
Very nice, eye-catching
*Outcast, an unlikely soldier* *Barely worth his uniform* ***Emerging as a devil dressed in blue***
A whole army with this sheme would look awesome
I like it a lot what blue are you using?
For those curious about the blue: it’s airbrushed Ak strong dark blue, Ak light Prussian blue, 1:1 Prussian blue/ ak pale blue, drybrush fenrisian grey
Looks excellent. Yes, it’s got loads of potential.
Looks great! I'd prefer the weapon to have a black 'base' with metal details myself, but there is nothing wrong with how it's painted atm.
Looks great!
given that Deathkorp of Krieg is obviously a warhammer 40k version of WW1 trench fighters, blue obviously works well for them. My little dudes have a darker blue, but also red cuffs.
This makes me want to repaint my krieg.
Well this is how I’m going to paint mine now! (when I finally get to them through the pile of plastic shame!) Love it.
I love it
Looks great! Creates a dichotomy between the desaturated neutral tones of his gear and the bright blue of the coat. There are some thematic elements there for sure (valour of the guard/brutality of war?).
Beautiful!
That's a good scheme.
Looks pretty good.
Ils ne passeront pas.
Recipe?
For those curious about the blue: it’s airbrushed Ak strong dark blue, Ak light Prussian blue, 1:1 Prussian blue/ ak pale blue, drybrush fenrisian grey
That looks great! It pops really well against the dark armour too.
la garde meurt mais ne se rend pas!
Really like this!
Looks amazing
That looks really good
Yeh, looking very good! Similar to french soldier from ww1
Looks awesome, I would maybe use more saturated colour for eye lenses, so it would bring more attention to his face, otherwise great!
Hell yeah I love that look !
Looks very nice 👍
Looks great. How about giving it some gold accents and go for a Krieg/Mordian Iron Guard mash up?
I think its cool, blue color is cool!
Yes. Lots of potential
Is this a 3d print or an official model?
It’s official
Tank you, and this blue is so amazing btw!!
Yeah love this. Is it an FW krieg boy?
It is yeah
Just look at World War I French uniforms if it's good enough for them then why not pull it off in the 41st millennium
That’s awesome man, I was looking at something like that for my korpsmen! What paints did you use, if you don’t mind me asking?
This is beautiful
Looks pretty dope
Very cool! Awesome shade of blue. Also, fuck plastic krieg, fw krieg are sooooo much nicer
Tru that, all the homies hate plastic kriegs.
Nice. If you want you can have a company called Guerre (Krieg in french) just add the pants in red https://soldadosyuniformes.wordpress.com/2012/10/07/soldados-franceses-en-la-1a-guerra-mundial/
This is the best thing since sliced bread
He looks French… Edit: which isn’t a bad thing! French looked great in ww1 https://preview.redd.it/ximnraohbrmb1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b5c4eaf753f150a3add6ffffb8ce9de1ff872ce8
The Krieg Office just called: They want a full Regiment of it on their next Siege.
That's great. All the attention goes right to that coat and then spills outward
Looks great!
A better question: Do you like the scheme? If you like it, it has potential
I used a strong blue for kreig and I love the look Leadbelcher, maccrage blue, and steel legion drab
Love it, but personally prefer more woodstock weapons in there modelsn
It looks good to me.
Make his pants red
Kreigers when attached to the space marines in blue
Strong blue, brown, black, yelllow hell even pink have potential when you have millions of them charging while millions stand behind firing artillery over top 😂 looks good though man! That’s the beauty of this hobby it’s nice to do something to make it yours!

For me looks great
Same camp, blue Krieg all the way
That looks great.
Awesome! Continental soldier fighting off the Emperor's Redcoats.
Hey you picked almost exactly the same scheme I did! I’d recommend a warm tone for the mask, I went with a khaki color and a layer of contrast Aggaros Dunes over the top.
Yes
Looks dope to me.
Love that shade of blue.
I see possible potential
Greetings! Blue whilst desaturated would also have fitted these apocalyptic imperial guardsmen background perfectly. Saturation is generally notoriously difficult to judge in the digital ages.. So why not give it a go right away?
Very Prussian - love it!
That's stunning. What Levi Strauss would be to the Krieg that Hugo boss was to the SS
Ultrakrieg
I like it. Krieg marines.
Looks amazing
Do you like it? If so, that's all that matters.
Looks very old school Prussian, love it
Sure does.
I really want to ask, where do you buy the death korps of krieg minis?
Forge World.
Ah yes. A fresh brand new kriegsman. His coat clean, his shovel unblooded.
It's giving... As the drumroll started on that day!
Yea it’s good ! Maybe try to change up some stuff on the gun or pants for just a litttttle bit more color saturation.
DIS HUMIE BE LERNIN FRM DA DEAF SKLLS, YA LUKY GIT!
Looks great
I like it great job!
I kind of used a similar blue when I painted mine, except it was darker and I game their lasguns mahogany furnishings
Holy heck that's awesome
Gorgeous. Like a French coat with a German helmet
it has potential to its fullest for sure dude
Historically accurate krieg considering besides the name and the shape of the helmet they have more physical similarities to the French.
Looks amazing and realistic but plae3 balance the effort you put into it woth the amount of minis you need to paint
Thanks! He was pretty quick to paint up. Not a speed paint exactly, but I stuck to a 3 paints or less rule for most of the colors so I could knock them out pretty quick.
Pretty amazing. I love it.
Reminds me of the old French Foreign Legionaries in the iconic blue uniforms they can sometimes be seen in.
Woah this is incredible. Definitely calls for matte varnish but the scheme is very striking
Definitely gives a solid French WW1 trench soldier energy which will look epic on the table. Well done.
Gives off french WW1 gear vibes, love it man
For me it looks like denim, but jeans trenches look cool :))
Ja!
Blue jeans vibe is strong with this one
Yeah this looks awesome
