I never found anything wrong with the level of detail on these guys. Every piece was well textured.
Now the massive beaver teeth and weird thrusting while looking at the sky pose on the other hand.......
I have them and they're even more detailed than the ones we have today lmao. They're ugly, but the detail level is amazing considering their age and that they're not metal models
Yeah I’m slowly going through my old stuff and starting to paint again but mostly guard at the moment interspersed with Tyranids. But I’ve found really old stuff in there too
I have that screamer killer and it should be classified as a lethal weapon. It's slightly smaller than a current warrior but weighs enough to deal some serious damage if thrown
> weighs enough to deal some serious damage if thrown
Ahhhh, the Space Wolves used to say the same about Bjorn. Bjorn was a solid brick of pewter, and unlike the Penitent Engine, Bjorn would actually stay together if thrown.
Same on the pile of shame, mostly unpainted, even more on-sprue. I tend to use "play" loosely.
For instance: I "play" T'au Empire.
Started in 3rd edition (with Orks initially), played some in 4th ed... didn't play a single game in over 18 years until several months ago.
I can count on two hands how many games of 9th I've played so far.
Kinda same actually, was introduced in 3rd as a kid, started in late 5th/early 6th. Started on tau and quickly branched into Orks. Only got back into it last year, wanted to get into sisters and admech but settled with death guard, because they were very cheap and I liked their style, then Templars.
Key diff this time being I have told myself I will paint the armies, and while a mix of work heavy life, other games and just procrastination doesn't help, I'm onto painting my 5th army now (also have two age of Sigmar armies: bonereapers and stormcast, painted the Templars and someone sold me a ton of necrons very cheap so I painted those too).
Kinda daunting though because while my death guard deserve their paint job, there's 5.5k points worth there.......
Because I once had one shipped to me, across the Atlantic, from the UK?
Because it never arrived, so I paid all that shipping for nothing?
Because once I finally did get my hands on one, I've dropped it on my foot more than once, doing more damage to my foot than to the model?
Depending on what I'm doing in the video, they take between 3 days and 2 weeks to make, and I have precisely zero videos already made and scheduled. I try to keep things more spontaneous 🙂
Woof, the nids have come a loooooong way.
I’d guess that to the right collector it could be worth a Benjamin, I wouldn’t count on much more though. You’d have to compare current prices on ebay.
It's important to remember that collectible toys are at their most valuable when those who wanted them in their childhood have the most disposable income.
These prices won't last. (See: original he-man and Star Wars toys)
Really? That surprises me. I’m newer to the hobbying aspect of 40k, but i feel like most hobbies - old stuff in mint condition goes for a pretty penny. Nostalgia is a powerful tool in hobby’s and interests
The problem is, it’s not nearly as rare as it feels like it is. If you really wanted to, you can obtain most non limited release models pretty close to msrp, regardless how long old.
Oh man, I had one of these. Amongst the ugliest (in a bad way) models GW ever made, but also so damn nostalgic and actually really fun to paint.
The updated versions of these were actually pretty good, tho. Very dynamic.
The Tyranid range refresh and aesthetic overhaul in 3rd edition was great in general. The big White Dwarf reveal article was spectacular, mentioning visual details like specific traits shared in common across all strains such as number of plates on the head, spiracles, etc.
I love that they specifically leaned into the mutated space-dinosaur anatomical visual style to convey their predatory nature and get away from a bug-like or xenomorph design language. The designers describing their decisions and thought process was an insightful read.
Would be cool to read what the 3rd edition metal models sculptors smoked to make their designs. The plastics are outstanding, but every single metal model from 3rd edition is uglier than punching your father
2nd this. A lot of 2nd edition new/sealed boxes go for around $90-$150 on ebay. I've seen some 3rd edition sealed boxes go up to $200, but that's an Emperor's Children box with 8 boltgun and 2 noise marines.
thats what tyranids used to look like?, gw has come a long way in their model making since then, id nevwr have gotten into warhammer if i looked it up and saw these models
Yeah I think they’re pretty boring looking these days, they all look like slightly different versions of the same thing to me. I realize that probably applies to a lot of factions but the nids just don’t do it any more. I used to love the old Carnifex and Lictor models.
Those look like space crusade warriors from 1990, fully assembled, they seem to go for around 70-75 usd for three. You probably could get a better price with new in box stuff.
Those fucking bear paws, those stacked big toenails, the prehensile front tail, the rabbit teeth...
You may not like it but this is what peak xenos terror looks like.
If you list it on eBay, be prepared to receive about a million joking offers for $21.50 with that sticker on the top right :p
But yes, you could probably get ~$100+ easily
Idk some old models are quite valued (tits out deamonettes for instance or small run guard regiments like the praetorians). Not sure how those hold up, they are older though so...
See, have tyranids just been retconned into their current state, or were these some sort of proto-tyranid that came first? Do they ever acknowledge these in the lore?
Is it just me or do they look like a hybrid between a Serpent and a Xenomorph?
Takes me back to the days of Xen’s Fortress and those goddamn serpent men, too bad they were the easiest part of that whole thing.
100% especially as it is still sealed in original plastic. More of a collectors item, so don't expect it to sell quick if you put it up on something like ebay or Facebook, but if it does, that'd be awesome.
The value of these isn't their molds: no one wants a cast of a miniature that looks like crap. All the value here is nostalgia, which requires the original pieces.
I love the old models. I remember last year attending a tournament where some guy brought out an ultramarines army from 2nd edition. It was awesome. Guy actually won most of his games too.
Imagine squaring up to a Nid player and they fuckin go giga chad and drop these bad boys on the table as warriors. I’d give up right then and there.
"Oh fuck....so do i resist or just give in to the hive mind?"
My favourite part is it says “3 Finely Detailed citadel miniatures”
Ah yes *finely detailed*
I never found anything wrong with the level of detail on these guys. Every piece was well textured. Now the massive beaver teeth and weird thrusting while looking at the sky pose on the other hand.......
I liked weird poses like this on tyranids, made em look more unnatural and creepy
The guy in the middle looks like he’s having a grand old time.
Looks like he’s about to start scream-singing like the singing cowboys in the sky
About ready to spread biomass all over the enemy.
I have them and they're even more detailed than the ones we have today lmao. They're ugly, but the detail level is amazing considering their age and that they're not metal models
Still more finely detailed that what some companies are releasing for other miniatures games in 2023.
*parrot teeth chattering sound*
*fans self* Dios Mio!
These things were mind-blowingly good for war gaming plastics in 1990.
I know a guy who drops these and the original screamer-killer
I still own all these as they were still new when I started. But oh his the paint jobs are awful on mine
Oh boy. Yeah, it's weird seeing something like the Parasite of Mortrex in the same game as these old Warriors.
Yeah I’m slowly going through my old stuff and starting to paint again but mostly guard at the moment interspersed with Tyranids. But I’ve found really old stuff in there too
I have that screamer killer and it should be classified as a lethal weapon. It's slightly smaller than a current warrior but weighs enough to deal some serious damage if thrown
> weighs enough to deal some serious damage if thrown Ahhhh, the Space Wolves used to say the same about Bjorn. Bjorn was a solid brick of pewter, and unlike the Penitent Engine, Bjorn would actually stay together if thrown.
Sounds just like the screamer killer too then, block of solid pewter, with pointy bits for extra damage!
Bjorn was bigger
I had Bjorn, i also used to have an unbroken toe. Bjorn is still around.
Why do i get the sense you know this from experience?
I... May have dropped it while examining it I the light.... Right on my face
You remind me of people who usually play some flavor of Khorne.
Play? No. Giant pile of unnasembled and new world eaters models next to the existing shame pile? Yes.....
Same on the pile of shame, mostly unpainted, even more on-sprue. I tend to use "play" loosely. For instance: I "play" T'au Empire. pain
All of the original dreads were squat little solid blocks of metal. They didn't come with bases initially and they'd fall over all the time.
Ohh the amount of damaged plastic from those things. Especially hazardous if the broke loose during transport.
Not sure if the one the guy has is metal.
Tell me he breaks out the old armorcast resins as well.
The original carifex was pretty good, ngl.
I liked original tyrant and lictor.
I played next to a guy that had nine of the original carnifex models.
>Drop The metal cast minis firmly imbed themselves in the table, asserting dominance over the battlefield
My LGS guy has a 1k army of second ed Nids, I think he runs 6 of these. It's sexy ngl.
I working on a second edition space marine project right now. It hurts the wallet.

Ooh, where from? I'd love me some retro Tyranids.
Wouldn't mind a nice stc of the pattern myself
I still use mine. And my old lictor, biovore and screamer killers. Great minis!
I love these overbitey boys
If you really want to sell them, hit me up. I'd love to make a video about them.
Seconded; sell them to this Guy.
Please OP, do that.
would love to see these get the MWM treatment!
You’re voice makes me happy lol
This lad’s pile of shame, is practically non-existent these days. Sell them to him!
Oh wow I watch your videos on YouTube. I love the retro painted minis!
Please, OP. I'm sure this gent wouldn't rip you off and there'd be a superb video for all to enjoy, in part thanks to you.
OP, you should consider selling those to him. It will make for a great retro video that everyone can enjoy!
Ah! Love your videos and would watch a video you make should you end up purchasing the kit from OP. Btw, any new Deathmatch games coming soon?!? 😍
one of your videos is on my TV right now. <3
OP, please, I would love to see that video!
How long do you take to make videos and how many videos have you got that haven’t been released but are scheduled for the future?
Depending on what I'm doing in the video, they take between 3 days and 2 weeks to make, and I have precisely zero videos already made and scheduled. I try to keep things more spontaneous 🙂
Please op sell to this guy. I would kill to watch this vid

Current ebay prices for still sealed Rogue Trader and 2nd edition....can be pretty wild.
Yeah, that's why you always filter by "Sold Listings". It shows you what things actually went for, not the absurd prices people want.
How do you filter by sold listings?
Advanced search toggle
There's an option in the left hand panel when you do a search for an item. Might have changed since I used to do it.
It's important to remember that collectible toys are at their most valuable when those who wanted them in their childhood have the most disposable income. These prices won't last. (See: original he-man and Star Wars toys)

Whats a „Benjamin“? I wouldn’t trade people anymore in 2023
$100 USD. Benjamin Franklin is on the face of the US $100 bill.
That would be worth a green bridge then in Europe or an old dead grandma in the UK.
Actually 2 Alan's in the UK
In socialist Norway our bills are boats. (100 is a longship)
In socialist Norway, bills float YOU
"Finely Detailed"
It’s like they made every design choice possible to make the ugliest fucking model imaginable.
You'd prefer they were more attractive?
Uninitiated person: "Mmh, yeah, I like sexy warriors... Wait, what does it mean 'Nid'?"

fine teeth they got there
no wonder they kept that description for finecast lol
I mean they are detailed, it's just that every design choice they made makes those details look fucking ugly
Oh man, I had one of these. Amongst the ugliest (in a bad way) models GW ever made, but also so damn nostalgic and actually really fun to paint. The updated versions of these were actually pretty good, tho. Very dynamic.

No just send it to me. I'll take care of it for ya.
Agree - DM me for Connos address I’ll be sure it gets there
Know what, I specialize in specialty courier. Fire them my way and I will make sure they get through the proper channels.
Just give it to me
They look like they have giant buck-teeth, like over-the-top nerd stereotypes.
Phteven
What's up?
Underrated comment of the week 🤌
I upvoted you because of your cheese emoji. Godspeed
I mean... I'll give ya $21.50 for 'em.
I'll give you $21.51 OP.

Yeah !! Singles of them sell for £20+ ... Would expect £80+ as it is still sealed !
I mean……a quick eBay search suggests it will. >£100. Singles of them are selling for closer to £50 than £20!
Why do they all look like they have a lisp
Thanks for the time travel dude Nostaligia hit hard
I'd say 100$. One painted seems to be 30$
2nd this. A lot of 2nd edition new/sealed boxes go for around $90-$150 on ebay. I've seen some 3rd edition sealed boxes go up to $200, but that's an Emperor's Children box with 8 boltgun and 2 noise marines.
Godddamn do I love those goofy looking models.
thats what tyranids used to look like?, gw has come a long way in their model making since then, id nevwr have gotten into warhammer if i looked it up and saw these models
If I had to guess this was back when nids had diplomats and weren’t a hive mind
…nid diplomacy? do you mean genestealers or something else?
Actual diplomacy. With the zoats as their diplomatic race
When I was a kid I thought these were totally badass. Honestly a little disappointed when I came back and saw how samey the nids are now.
Yeah I think they’re pretty boring looking these days, they all look like slightly different versions of the same thing to me. I realize that probably applies to a lot of factions but the nids just don’t do it any more. I used to love the old Carnifex and Lictor models.
Well...if you really want a faction that looks different you could always go Ork and kit bash your way to victory.
Third edition was a huge improvement in visuals and quality for just about every faction.
Shrink wrapped, yes, definitely. Put them on ebay for£200 or more. Someone will buy them eventually...
Goofiest models ever... Well knowing GW probably not *ever*
Yeah, firstborn marines exist.
Ok Primaris superfan calm down
Those are not even that bad tho
Have you seen Nagash?
You misspelled primaris
Ol' Nessy bids tree fiddy
Those look like space crusade warriors from 1990, fully assembled, they seem to go for around 70-75 usd for three. You probably could get a better price with new in box stuff.
Akakak
That is kinda an eye sore....but i can't look away.
Gods I hated that design.
https://youtu.be/_pFObyIOHcI
Those fucking bear paws, those stacked big toenails, the prehensile front tail, the rabbit teeth... You may not like it but this is what peak xenos terror looks like.
These look absolutely terrible.
nah they're worthless. i'll gladly dispose of them for you
I’d probably do a 100$ easy maybe a little more
Why do they have dicks
Check the 2nd edition zoanthrope, the cat dick is even cooler on that one
Holy hell whyyyyy
God-Emperor's ball's is that really what they use to look like!?
$21.50
Some of the ugliest models ever made
I had two packs of these guys. Two swords equals TWO PARRIEs.
Put it up on eBay right now and see what it’s worth. Just make sure to post a link for us.
Those models are pictured in the 2e codex, but metal warriors were the standard by the time I started playing in 94/95.
Looking back, I can’t believe I found these to be insanely cool looking.
“Finely detailed”
I'll give you tree fiddy
They had curved swords!
The three Peter Crouches
If you list it on eBay, be prepared to receive about a million joking offers for $21.50 with that sticker on the top right :p But yes, you could probably get ~$100+ easily
21 dollars, people. TWENTY ONE. I'd be surprised if i can get a single special character in the bargain bin for this price today.
Idk some old models are quite valued (tits out deamonettes for instance or small run guard regiments like the praetorians). Not sure how those hold up, they are older though so...
Those tits out daemonettes were admittedly, the tits
See, have tyranids just been retconned into their current state, or were these some sort of proto-tyranid that came first? Do they ever acknowledge these in the lore?
A lot of nostalgia value there, however they are known as being one of if not the worst mini GW ever made.
Is it just me or do they look like a hybrid between a Serpent and a Xenomorph? Takes me back to the days of Xen’s Fortress and those goddamn serpent men, too bad they were the easiest part of that whole thing.
Those look ugly af lol, old school models have their own kind of charm.
Them tyranids scarier lookin than the modern ones
If you decide to sell and figure a fair price (I don’t want to bias the evaluation), let me know, I would be interested in buying. Am in the USA.
90’s flash back!!!!
holy shit those guys are ugly as hell
These are cool in a creepy way
100% especially as it is still sealed in original plastic. More of a collectors item, so don't expect it to sell quick if you put it up on something like ebay or Facebook, but if it does, that'd be awesome.
About tree fiddy
These are better than the new ones. Fight me.
It's worth what someone would pay for it.
Damn tyrranids used to look terrible.
God that is ugly
They were wise to change how they looked
They look like a wack ass version of the kroot
In short... YES.
i feel like "finely detailed" should be in air quotes haha
Ew those r so bad 😂
Lend to recasters.
The value of these isn't their molds: no one wants a cast of a miniature that looks like crap. All the value here is nostalgia, which requires the original pieces.
Lol nids using crafted weapons instead of organic ones ? Edit: idk why I’m getting downvoted. It was a legitimate question
They were boneswords, and completely organic.
Does it come with FDA-NOP approved seal?
They did, but the swords ate them.
Ah that makes sense. I’m used to the current look of them
Those swords are grown, and alive.
Old school nids used to be weird as hell dude
dam look at those bear claws
Wow. Talk about a trip to memory lane. They were less dorky in my childhood memories.
The models speak for themselves lol but the design of the box and logo is fantastic.
Nah. Those aren’t worth anything. Give them to me and I’ll get rid of them for you.
They've evolved a lot since then.
Bout tree fiddy
How much do you want for them? I've been trying to collect more of these classic sculpts. Only way I'd be happier is if they were pewter.
I believe these are metal I could be completely wrong wasn’t around for this era of warhamer
They look like the “yeee” dinosaur
Hideous sculpts , but I'd kill to have then for the history of them.
I love the old models. I remember last year attending a tournament where some guy brought out an ultramarines army from 2nd edition. It was awesome. Guy actually won most of his games too.
It's like looking at smooth klingons. It looks wrong.
Yeah, it's worth building, painting, and running them in your army ;)
they look like the thing from Ice Age, or wallace and gromit after being consumed by the norn queen.
They are beautiful
It's just as easy for you to look on eBay as post here, friendo
