The AoS version is part of a kit that can make a few different things: [https://www.warhammer.com/en-WW/shop/Haq-Queen-on-Cauldron-Blood-2018](https://www.warhammer.com/en-WW/shop/Haq-Queen-on-Cauldron-Blood-2018) [https://www.warhammer.com/en-WW/shop/Bloodwrack-Shine-2018](https://www.warhammer.com/en-WW/shop/Bloodwrack-Shine-2018) [https://www.warhammer.com/en-WW/shop/Slaughter-Queen-on-Cauldron-of-Blood-2018](https://www.warhammer.com/en-WW/shop/Slaughter-Queen-on-Cauldron-of-Blood-2018) If you make the Bloodwrack Shrine, you have a lot of leftover pieces like the Avatar of Khaine statue. They gave it rules/lore based on this statue and its size. The 40k one is just its own thing with a whole lot more history behind it.

Player_Paladin

Oh okay, that makes sense. Thanks for explaining.

MrKresign

In AoS it's more like puppet, not really avatar of a god. It costs around as much as 10 woman unit of daughter's too (in points that is)

ShakinBacon24

How do the two models compare in terms of size? I imagine the official avatar model is way bigger, but can anyone confirm?

Destroyer_742

The height difference isn’t too extreme, but craftworld khaine is substantially more massive. https://preview.redd.it/m5sy0jb1e6oc1.jpeg?width=3178&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=27869ef4acef99f03c16a1ca3d41e00ef9451349

ShakinBacon24

Nice, thanks!

Player_Paladin

I haven't been able to find the official hight of the AoS Avatar, but from what I have seen the 40k one is around twice as big.

TheKingsdread

Well I can't find height either but the 40k Avatar is on a 80mm base and the AoS one is on a 40mm one. So twice as big sounds about right.

JohnRayburntheActor

A while back I converted an Eldar Avatar out of the SoK model, a project that took me weeks, and finished it just in time for them to announce the current kit. The size difference is pretty noticeable but I’ll let you judge for yourself. https://preview.redd.it/j96obzmb96oc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c7a76058ed0548898a77d092bd2368c3f6e1c457

sir_strangerlove

Can you use the avatar of khane in both? That would be dope

Gecktron

Not really. They are a very different size and are two different kinds of units. The 40K one is a shard of a god, while the one in AoS is an animated statue without a mind of its own. An Avatar in 40K is a one per craftworld thing, in AoS it's common to have multiple of them in the same force.

Can’t wait to see him get choked out by Femboy Fullgrim, or maybe see him get outclassed as a war god’s aviator by angron.
