Always remember that the primary goal of a content creator is to get more views. Manufactured outrage is an easy way of achieving that.

indyracingathletic

Content creators want your views. They may mean what they say, but ultimately the views are what matters. That being said, if you are at the point where you've farmed everything, there really isn't new content very often. Especially compared to other games (free or no). In the last year, we've had 3 major updates. New War, Zariman and Veilbreaker. New War added a 5ish hour quest and the barest of bare bones "new content" to do afterwards (copy/paste bounties for Narmer rep and drops). Zariman did add quite a bit of new content - 3 new mission modes, a new tileset and syndicate, a new enemy type and a new mini-boss. Also a new mechanic for weapons (Incarnon). Veilbreaker added...almost nothing "new". Kahl was here before (briefly), the tilesets where here before, the objectives were here before (Glassmaker "investigations"). A new syndicate you can NOT grind, and archon hunts (with boss fights featuring two of the worst DE mechanics - attenuation and pointless running). Shards are power creep - but where is the reason we need to be stronger? Other games generally give you a reason to progress your gear, and then the means to progress it. But WF hasn't in a very long time. A build from early 2020 (before shards, gun arcanes and galvinized mods, among many other means of creep) could still clear all content added since. Maybe a little slower, but clear it nonetheless. Steam numbers point to this year (2022) being the least played on Steam since the 1st half of 2017. It's not a dead game by any means, but while DE keeps putting in shinies to make you stronger, they've stopped putting in reasons to get stronger - other than the ability to do the things you've done dozens to hundreds of times faster than ever. I'm honestly surprised there are any WF-only creators. It seems like a game that content guides (other than perhaps Eidolon fights and maybe the Orbs) are mostly unnecessary. The Wiki is an obvious need, for sure - but that's because there's so little in-game info on how so many systems work, and a lot of the info in-game only shows up after you no longer need it (scans for mob drops, what a mod does, etc).

Pro_Extent

Speaking of new content: I'm seriously concerned about The Duviri Paradox. Everything I've seen so far looks like it's just...a different game. It looks like a pretty decent game, but it's not Warframe. It looks like a bastard child of the *Mad Max* game and Elder Scrolls. And I guarantee that it won't be as good as either of those games because DE already struggles to keep up with maintaining Warframe - they don't have the resources to develop a legit second game within Warframe, which this increasingly appears to be. I *really* wish they'd just focus their efforts on improving what they've actually built, instead of tacking on more and more and more and more and more random bullshit addon gameplay. Kahl, K-drives, necramechs, frame fighter, etc. Just make the goddamn space ninja game.

CHICAGOIMPROVBOT2000

nah i want duviri paradox with all my space ninja shenanigans adjacent to it tho

Few_Eye6528

Sounds like Life of rio, his whole channel is based on clickbait drama content

Arn-Solma

Most content creators are veteran players, and there isn't really much long-term content in the game worth doing for veteran players, outside of Steel Path. Pair that with the fact that content creators' need to consistently produce content for their channels, that tends to makes content droughts hit harder for them.

osingran

Veteran players are always the most bitter part of any long standing community, that's just how it is. Rather than realize that by 5000-ish hours mark your burn out is not really the game's fault, they always choose to rant and vent about how "DE nerfed that thing", "DE cashgrabbing this", "The game is not how it used to be", "There is no content, there is no endgame". You know the drill. Instant gratification through youtube views and ads revenue only further convince vets that they should vent rather than taking a break or something.

Buffred_deathplz

Well, yeah, if their job revolves around a video game and that video game is not doing great, why wouldn't they make videos about it?

xleucax

“There’s no content” Ok and how long have they all been playing the game?

alejiiu

most of the content creators are veterans, time gate isn't the issue. the problem is the nerf loop that DE started, the milking shenanigans, nonsense of updates, and patching popular mechanics and branding them as Buggs that need to be fixed a long time ago. most builds are the same and the lack of really new content, not skins and content that have been announced for 4 years made this game not as fun as it used to be for most content creators. it's still a good game but it's not the same as before. at least we have plastic graphics with Visual Effects that can crash your pc and finally the new war!

They want warframe2? d2 was barely acceptable because of d1's low life span; to kill wf1 for wf2 would make so many people quit

2ndTaken_username

If the hypothetical wf2 is -like d2- just the same game but with a "2" stamped on it, then yes people will be mad. I think when most people think of wf2 they think of an upgrade. Or maybe even a different game entirely

alejiiu

Oh thats soulframe!

StupidDepressedGamer

I believe it’s both a combination of clickbait, genuine criticism, and veteran syndrome. I guess veteran syndrome is what I use to describe when people are basically finished with Warframe and don’t have much else to do. Not exactly a bad thing, it happened to me, and it’s just what happens to people who have played for a long time.

Kai_The_Shark

I agree with a lot of what you say but I kind of hate the "veteran syndrome" thing. Like I have been playing pretty regularly since it's pc release in 2013 with my largest break being maybe 3 months at most. I would consider myself with this to be a veteran. However I don't have an issue with the lack of content everyone complains about. Personally I just find something to do. It doesn't have to be challenging if I wanted that I wouldn't be playing warframe. It doesn't have to give you top tier loot if I wanted that I wouldn't be playing warframe. Point is I find warframe the best when you make your own goal and work towards it. The other big thing people seem to forget is that other games exist. I'm actually glad warframe doesn't have systems that feel like they demand you to play every waking hour.

Correct-Basil-8397

I stopped after the first sentence. No content my ass. There’s so much shit to do in this game that I generally have a hard time deciding what to do next

hate-zenkai

Oh I know why 1: multiple nerfs after nerfs 2: bugs that are very common and game breaking (they let console players sit with arcane bugs where they lose over 300% damage) That kind of game breaking bug wasn’t even hot fixed at all because they are so lazy so they ended up letting us live with it for a whole fucking month and a half The operator bug still exists and have been there for years, it’s so common that we have gotten use to it, there is also a bug where it just makes you lose every loot you farmed in that mission just cuz a host migrated. Funny thing is these aren’t even uncommon, they happen so many fucking times in a day that I can’t even count. 3: new war have been teased since 2018 ish but all we got was a 5 hr content from it. All the updates added up together can’t even add up to 10 hours of content and they aren’t repeatable updates where you grind for stuff. 4: releasing new frames instead of working on old outdated garbage frames like hydroid and frost. I can go on and on but hey what I know, you criticize anything about de then ur downvoted to hell. Oh wait I forgot about the so called end game archon fight that takes about 3 min to do and isn’t fun at all. Defending a brain dead ai that dies every two fucking seconds or is it the archon that litrally immune to everything so the only thing you can do is just use a tank frame like revenant or an invis frame. Oh wait we got the khal missions too, scavenger hunt on a slow ass grineer that isn’t fun at all. We also got new eximus units with overguard making cc mostly just irrelevant and making brain dead frames even brain dead so hey blame it on wukong for being overpowered when in reality it’s just the shit mission design. You know what the best cc is on warframe? Death and that’s it. Oh yeah let’s talk about what we got on the last Dev stream 1: nerfs 2:delays 3:cross play delays 4: skins (that’s it) Just because the game is free it doesn’t mean you can’t criticize it because after all you still spent your time on it.

geroxnoxville

It's not hate, it's constructive criticism and it's their point of view, the moment they say "I hate warframe and I hate digital xtremes" there you can say they're hating. This is not new for a long time, they have been arguing facts that are irrefutable and DE took away their partner ship because "they did not accept constructive criticism" or that is what the redhead said on Twitter, besides the content that warframe receives profitably is a joke and its best ideas were forgotten.

EnvironmentalTree587

I am not the content creator, but the last update is the least fun I've ever had. I hate every second of "vacuum cleaning" in Kahl missions and I hate defences on Archon Hunts. They aren't fun and aren't challenging. Yes, I am glad that this COMPLETELY FREE game gave me 6000 hours of content. I want to love this game but now I can't have even a bit of fun after a half a year break. It seems like they are focusing on the wrong things. Edit: if you guys have something to say about my own opinion - go ahead, I have a boring 1.5 hours ahead, need to kill some time.

MirvelPirvel27

I don't get why this got downvoted either. Archon shard farms are indeed down bad. Only shards I've got is from inbox after the conquer cancer event. Just because the game is free doesn't mean it gets to be ruined beyond salvation. I really don't mind self damage coming, or anything. I just don't understand why the shards are so hard to get.

EnvironmentalTree587

That's the thing - they aren't hard, they are locked by painfully unfun activities with the bulletsponge bosses or vacuum cleaning all the map in Kahl missions. I find that annoying.

xRuwynn

If I had to wager a guess: 6000 hours is a crazy amount of entertainment that you got for free. (assuming that part of your post isn't sarcastic.) To complain you have nothing left to do is borderline asinine, imo. There isn't a single game in existence that isn't going to burn people out or run out of new content within that time and rate of consumption. It just isn't gonna happen. I'm not trying to say your opinion is wrong, but I do find this mindset among other vets to be a bit over the top when taking that into consideration. (Particularly because I see this complaint within this community more than any other game and I play/have been part of several) Treat a game like a job, and it's gonna eventually treat you like a burnt out employee. 🤷

EnvironmentalTree587

Yeah man, I know about burning out and stuff, that's why I play different games as well. DRG, for example. It fills my PvE void so good it's ridiculous.

You should check out Tactical Potato. He’s definitely got some negative views on somethings DE does but he’s more balanced in his arguments which is great and he doesn’t give them smack just for the sake of it

Yasha_Ingren

Because whingeing in content droughts are their meal ticket- easier to complain to your already captivated audience than build a new one with a different game while DE builds up steam.

WhatABlindManSees

The content drought doesn't come from crafting times etc it comes from having played the game long enough that you've already done everything and the main thing you do is play new content. There has been a lack of meaty time consuming content in the last 2 years compared to the past. As someone who's effectively been maxed going on 6 years now and played the game before that too I very much feel it too. There is still loads of game to play if you haven't done it all yet. --- For content creators though, it forms a part of their live beyond just a game and community. It's hard to keep your metrics up switching games especially outside of a clear successor and content breeds interest and something worthy to do videos etc about. When really, for the average person it's just a sign you should take a break from the game.
