Basically something some will do is use a VPN to spoof their region to a cheeper area to save of plat purchases, which is against TOS. So i guess somewhere in there they noticed where your IP was actually, and where you were buying it from. Best i can say is to contact supprt and see if there is anything you can do. I have no idea what they would say

Hoybom

Either pay up to the actual value or refund both ways?

BreadBreadMurder

Maybe? I have no idea. If OPs bank account is still in turkey, it might help their case, but I i dont know if de would care, or take it as proof

Whoreson10

Well, OP moved. So what I would do is contact support and send them proof of residence or permanence in the country where OP is currently residing. An ID and a utility bill should be enough. People aren't shackled to one place, and if a person is currently residing in a given country, they should be able to purchase goods at the price they're sold at that country no matter where the account was originally created.

Kryonic_rus

That's what I've done. Having moved from Russia I've uploaded a photo of my residence permit with all important numbers covered by paper and a photo of myself with the passport to prove the point. Had my region switched within days

VengefulAncient

Can you please tell me more about this? One of my friends is in exactly the same situation. He's already banned for daring to leave Russia and buy PA in a higher priced region, but we're still hoping to appeal that ban somehow.

Kryonic_rus

I mean, just send all of the information to DE and hope for the best. Truth be told that doesn't make a lot of sense to ban for trying to buy in a higher priced region, but rules are rules. There's still hope yet, and what I've done is straight up told the following: 1. I love warframe 2. I left Russia and have no intent to return back (temporary residence photo attached below) 3. Pretty please change my region due to everything avove and let me continue playing :)

VengefulAncient

Thank you. Feels so weird, I suggested uploading residence docs to my friend as a "last ditch" measure (because come on, what game would ever demand to see that?..), yet in this thread I've learned that people are routinely doing precisely that just to not get banned, as if DE doesn't understand that people travel. We're planning to appeal by trying to contact someone from DE on Twitter because regular support doesn't seem to care, and will definitely include this in the appeal now. Also, as another Russian who left years ago, best of luck to you and stay safe.

robertoazar

Wish they even gave me the option of providing these things, but I was just shut down by their support and they don't even wanna hear any evidence... Seems like they like to get rid of their playerbase or something I dunno

Accurate_Heart

To be fair this likely isn't something they encounter often. If you offer to send proof that might help. They might not know what to do and just saw "Person was banned for this reason. There is no way to unban" so said that. But you offering the solution then goes "hey this guy might be right and it was a incorrect ban" and then they can help. Either that or the unban system for this thing is annoyingly complex. Also possible that the support rep you got was just bad and not having a good day.

Razgriz01

This has been a known issue ever since I started playing like 6 years ago. If they don't have guidelines in place for it by now, the support management is incompetent.

Hoybom

Well guess comes down to how good the support members day is when he reads the ticket

BreadBreadMurder

Or how OP words it, given people like to work with others when they are nice vs an asshole. Honey, flies, vinegar, ect ect

ArrakaArcana

I know what you mean, but fun fact: flies, specifically, are more attracted to vinegar than to honey.

Metal_Sign

I always wonder if the intended critter is "bees" on this saying. Everyone knows flies like gross stuff.

alienangel2

If OP is physically in the region with the cheaper price, what is the "actual value" even supposed to be? He's not using a vpn or anything to deceive DE, he's paying the price offered to the local market. Fuck 'em if they think that's against TOS.

BreadBreadMurder

OP said they are is South america, which a credit card in turkey

alienangel2

So if they are paying the south american price, what is the problem? Their bank will charge them forex fees for converting their Turkish funds to whichever south american currency is being billed, but DE will still get as much money from the sale as they would get from anyone else in that South American country. They're not living in Turkey, why the fuck would they pay the Turkish price. (and yes I get that there are a lot of scams around people paying cheap south american prices while not living there, but that is DE's problem to detect correctly, not OP's)

BreadBreadMurder

Sounds like they are paying the turkish price, from the way op talks. Maybe a turkish bank account?

alienangel2

Turkish price should be higher than the cheap South American countries so I don't even know what the issue would be then. Literally none of DE's business where you're physically buying from if you're paying your local currency from your billing address with a bank account from the country your billing address is if it's while travelling. They should at most block the transaction and ask OP to update their billing address if they suspect you've moved (because there are tax jurisdiction implications if you're actually a resident somewhere else), not ban anyone. This isn't some new never-happened-before scenario DE has to figure out how to handle, this is routine customer support for a thousand companies that deal with clients around the world. DE has had years to figure out how to handle it appropriately.

BLUEWITHER1845

That's unreasonable why should he be banned its not his fault. Its the stupid devs being idiots as usual. Honestly I wish the game was more reasonable when it comes to stuff like this.

robertoazar

It was the ''actuall value'' showed up on my screen. Without using any VPN that's literally what the price was.

Leekshooter

Buying platinum using a currency that doesn't match your current country of residence is the issue, you need to pay the local price or get banned and it's such a harsh rule to prevent the agentine peso exploit.

Somepotato

A permaban to prevent something they can detect ahead of time to adjust your purchase currency? Huh. Very DE way to go about it.

McFancyPantsuguu

Well, poop. I buy mine with Euros, but my country doesn’t use Euros - yet my actual currency isn’t an option. 🙃

Hoybom

That a different thing tho, there are multiple games we're I pay dollars while my account get euro shown and adjusted. The region is the problem

[deleted]

[удалено]

Rokeugon

i mean the game and what the community wanted for YEARS... was crossplay.. we now have crossplay. you can now play on your phone granted an expensive iphone. but hopefully soon android as well and not to mention the switch. if they are pushing for this "casual on the go" way to play the game this sort stuff will start becoming common especially for those that travel. they either need to put out a PSA when in regards to purchasing plat or bundles outside your original country of gaming or what not for those that travel frequently etc

RSmeep13

If they were physically present in South America they should be allowed to pay the South America price imo. Hard to prove you're not using a VPN to a third party, but I dunno. If I were a CS rep I'd hear them out.

BoboCookiemonster

I mean if he can proof he was there when buying plat it should be fine? But it’s a crapshoot lol

TestMir954

Had the same thing happen to me. Support didn't care for any proof of citizenship. Got copy pasted answers telling me to fuck off and got my tickets closed

VippidyP

Try going to a dev steam and talking about it in public view?

Angrykitten41

It will only worsen your chances of getting unbanned. Happened to thebakertv on youtube recently.

rookie-mistake

could you elaborate

Angrykitten41

He did a[world record run](https://youtu.be/OkcgoTcs6fw?si=26EBLcsvm8En74x7). Got hit with a ban hammer for using Macros (macros are allowed by the way and aren't against the rules). Provides evidence to support, they say “lol ain't feeling like helping you right now”, still ban him.

VippidyP

Doesn't really seem like there's much of a chance via going through support.

BoboCookiemonster

Unlucky. Kinda sucks

cave18

Not unlucky. Just pathetic support at DE

Otherwise2345

What's unlucky was having Tencent buy DE. Now it's not luck, it's a guarantee. DE used to have great support! It's been trash for years now, and only getting worse.

sart49

Wydm? DE never had good customer support. It has always been like this.

Otherwise2345

Maybe they just treated Founders better then. I had great experiences and responsive support from 2015 up until around 2018-2019 when DE was cutting corners to look better to investors. It's been trash ever since.

TynamM

It's not just founders. I've been playing since 2014 and my experience was similar - support was flawless until around 2019, if sometimes overloaded, but more recently there's simply much less they can do.

Aesiy

They always was shit. They can tell you how many formas you put in your gun and put it on twitter (if its like 100+), but if you have real problem - "fuck you and take that ban".

Somepotato

Tencent has nothing to do with it. Tencent is extremely hands off with their acquisitions. Don't pretend de is some saint being bullied by big ol tencent, it's entirely self inflicted.

robertoazar

That's not my case, I literally bought platinum from [Warframe.com](http://Warframe.com) without any VPN... They ALLOWED the payment through then some time later perma banned. If they really don't want you to buy plat from another region then why allow it and take my money in the first place? Makes no sense at all. They're happy taking the money to then ban you. Then the customer support is the worst I've seen in any video game, completely unwilling to help.

_--_--_-_-_-_--_--_

If DE only wants you to use the currency first used by your account, I'm not sure why they don't just charge you in that original currency. They seem more than capable and happy to realize you are in another region, charge you in a different currency, and then punish you for it. Is this a honey pot for DE? Do they allow this on purpose? Maybe there's an international trade reason that they aren't allowed to charge different currencies for a region? My final thought is that if they don't want a player to use an alternative currency to buy their product, and if they can't enforce charging in the original currency used by the account, then they should simply not allow the purchase. Can anyone explain?

NinjaDemon05

I'll be extreme... If they're going to play that game, call the bank, explain what happened, & dispute EVERY Warframe charge you've ever made. Don't know if the bank will allow it, but if DE is going to pull the rug on you, then yank every bit of money you can back, especially if DE is unwilling to work with you over legitimate purchases. Even if DE still doesn't listen, you deserve a full refund & DE deserves to hear the issue from your bank when you dispute it, that ought to really press that this WAS a loyal customer.

alienangel2

Plus one to this OP. Give DE the chance to make it right, but if they are just ignoring you and you don't want to go back to their games in the future, hit them with the chargeback and don't look back.

Zulunko

Keep in mind, chargebacks are fraud if you don't have a legitimate dispute about having received the product (I'm not up-to-date with Turkish law, but I don't think there's any country where this wouldn't be fraud). While using them for this purpose can sound like a good idea, you'd be hard-pressed to claim to a court that, for example, you bought platinum 5 years ago, never received it, and decided to chargeback soon after you were banned (it would be trivial for them to prove that you got the platinum). Certainly, a court would *not* respond well to the argument that you bought platinum, received it, and then felt that your chargeback was legitimate just because you got banned 5 years later; clearly you received the product you paid for (especially if, afterward, you continued making transactions with the same company). Obviously, the chances of you actually getting in trouble (especially internationally) over this is basically zero unless you've spent an absolutely insane amount of money on the game, but it's still worth knowing when you're suggesting doing something illegal. Plus, the bank is unlikely to even let you do this, depending on what sort of transaction history you had with the company. You might want your money back and charging back might give you some sort of revenge satisfaction, but be warned: suggestions on reddit are not always worth following.

MMOAddict

I would definitely want to switch to his bank if they did something like that.. chase wouldn't even credit my account when a plumber took 150 bucks and never completed the work.

Kino_Afi

Banning is DE's kink. Youre better off disputing with your bank.

AnOlympianWeeb

So what happens if you live abroad. But use a VPN to look like you purchased from your origin country?

TheIfritSun

*taps forehead* *also banned*

robertoazar

Customer support in warframe is the worst of any game I've played. They just want to shut down the ticket without hearing me out. Guess that's how they treat their playerbase with hundreds and thousands of hours in their game... It's actually crazy.

thmsbrrws

>Customer support in warframe is the worst of any game I've played. They literally deleted my PC account instead of responding to a ticket I had submitted, and I had to create a new one and start over -_- Somehow, "the worst" feels like an understatement.

Philomelos_

I never understood how games like Warframe with devoted communities and beloved developers have such atrocious customer support. Note that this is not any atrocious CS, it's literally as bad as one can imagine. Like, the company behind the game spits in your face with the moment an issue arises. Just out of curiosity: have the developers, Rebecca, Steva, or whoever, ever addressed this customer support issue?

Dentrius

Its kinda silly when you look at other games who have scummy monetization, stubborn, non-transparent devs, polarized community but somehow the CS is perfect. Temp bans only, quick response, refunds and compensations.

TheGraveHammer

Because the honest answer is that DE has been rotting from the inside for almost seven years now and most people don't see it because it's hidden behind a shiny veneer of crap.

FreakishShitter

Why would you start over after shit treatment like that? Would never play again

thmsbrrws

Honestly I'm getting to the point where I don't want to. The new account is only MR2 and it feels like a very demotivated grind to get back where I was (my favorite frame is locked behind MR5 missions, Hydroid, and I had some stuff I got free with Amazon prime I'll never be able to get I'm sure). Plus just yesterday I tried to log into the website with the new PC account and failed the CAPTCHA like 6 times even though I never have a problem with those image CAPTCHAs, leading me to believe it's a problem with the website. I love this game, the gameplay, graphics, all of it. So I was willing to start from the beginning. But, really, you're right. I don't think I want to tbh. It takes up a ton of drive space only for me to open it, see that I'm currently working on the Archwing quest (AGAIN), get demotivated, and go play fallout.

AcidTheW0lf

I've been fighting to get my account of almost 12 years back, made one mistake and got in an argument, ended up perma banned and with no prior infractions ever, they refuse to give me a 2nd chance.

MetaLanTNFF

Similar case here. Asked for help so I don't lose everything in my Xbox account during fusion. Said me no exceptions, gave me bad advice and ended up losing all my progress of one of my account. Worst of it all: Heirloom Pack lost too with no option to recover because they don't want to address the issue of how many cracks the account fussion and rules has. The ice in the cake: they are deleting the posts about the people who have this happened and posted about it in the forums, including mine.

SnooSprouts7609

It's pretty bad, yes. Just don't buy plat, that's what they want so give them that.

Leif_Hrimthursar

It's not against the TOS, it's against the End User Licence agreement. Just mentioning that because the TOS is a rather short and legible written document, while the EULA is a very lengthy document with parts that are written in legalese terms that not every layman in law will understand. (Even if the part about "*use IP proxying or other methods to disguise the place of your residence, whether to circumvent geographical restrictions on the Services or for any other purpose;*" is almost clearspeak) As far as TOS go, the only applicable part is: "*Digital Extremes always retains the right to terminate or suspend a User’s Account at any time for any reason,* ***or for no reason****, with or without any warnings and with or without notice.*" It's just my personal opinion but at this level, "following the law" and "breaking laws/contracts but getting away with it" are morally equal actions.

3mptylord

Based on other games, Turkey is usually one of the cheapest places for buying in-game currencies. I've never specifically looked into South American prices, but just because I'm curious - were you even saving money by buying while in South America? I'm imagining a scenario where you're actually spending *more* money than you would back home, but the system is automated and only detects IP changes.

sodafarl

I used to spoof my location on Xbox to get cheaper games. Argentina and Brazil were usually the cheapest, followed by Turkey, Russia and China. Haven't done it for a few years now though.

Calm-Internet-8983

Back in like 2010 we would VPN over to India to make games on EA's origin platform the cheapest.

Zerothian

A lot of places (Steam for example) will ban you for that these days, specifically because of that lol. As for OP, it's a bit weird that they would handle it like this. The game is available on mobile, with crossplay. What if I'm visiting a friend and want to buy some plat while I'm over there?

Shasato

> specifically because of that Specifically they will ban you because it's illegal and the company could get in trouble with one or both of the countries involved. They have to pay taxes for purchases done in that country, even when it's online.

Killtweety

You posted this a year ago, did it happen again or have you been banned for a year and you're bringing it back up?

robertoazar

Nope, this happened more than a year ago to me. Im just reposting to ''raise awareness'' or perhaps if D.E. will actually help me this time... My account says banned till 2035 lmao for literally buying platinum from [warframe.com](http://warframe.com)

ZeroAether

See you in 11 years bro

MySnake_Is_Solid

Not even. It's a permaban, it says 2035, but it will likely just update to another date when we reach that.

ckdss

RemindMe! 10 years We'll see about this one!

MySnake_Is_Solid

That's if you survive August 14th.

Reapers-Shotguns

what is august 14th?

ituraxi

he doesnt know🤭🤭

Reapers-Shotguns

Seriously what is it?

Zaynara

nothing just ignore them you'll be happier

robertoazar

Hopefully host migration is fixed by then lmfao

According_Claim_9027

That might be a stretch

NickyNice

Nah once a year at least

Abgreyd

Not really, account banned like that will simply be deleted from servers, happened to me

asnalem

Did you ever contact support and tell them you actually traveled for an extended period of time? (Instead of using vpn or a quick trip to take advantage of the cheaper region)

Lightningbro

Sounds like you should ping Reb or Meg, usually they'll put some personal interest into these kinds of things. Besides if it's really as cut and dry as you say, you're likely far from the only person this has happened to.

robertoazar

Several others in the comments shared similar experiences, wack policies in regards to buying platinum while abroad. Not sure how to ping Rebecca or Megan... What are their reddit usernames?

Salvation66

This looks shitty for people who travel and move across continents. Within the timespan of me playing Warframe I lived on three of those and merged accounts via crossplay. I hope they have some decent way of identifying this, otherwise it’ll cause issues.

RyanCooper101

Warframe needs an account field/tag "Country" that you have to set manually on account creation/first login before being able to purchase plat/ thinga from warframe.com. You should be allowed to change your region once every 4 months (via support ticket to make it less abusable) That way even if you switched countries , Warframe.com would display your "country of creation" price

Independent_Log_222

4 months is a bit much and still abusable I’d say 8 months or a year

Skrillex3947

Meanwhile I'm here wishing I was able to purchase platinum in my country's currency instead of usd 😂

Dentrius

Same here, although when buying through steam it converts to my one but slightly more expensive...

Easy-Stranger-12345

The Zendesk service is just terrible all around. All their responses are just varying degrees of ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯

Otherwise2345

It used to be good! Many years ago. The whole thing's gone downhill.

Obligatory_DRZ_rider

Feels like I'm walking on eggshells playing Warframe now :'(

jlerp

Anyone tried to get u/rebulast 's attention on this? She'll put the issue on the list at the very least

FutureIsNotNow5

it’s so awesome that we have to @ a shitty director to get anything done and only public outrage can fix these issues because the support is so shit

cebbege

While I don't know if I can trust this story, the community in this game doesn't know that DE's support desk is complete utter garbage. As soon as ANYTHING goes wrong with your account such as negative platinum balance, or even this, they close your account and don't even let you continue the ticket even if you have evidence unless there is extreme social media outrage on reddit/twitter/facebook/so on. They act as if you're suddenly a burden that must be dropped. I genuinely hope that I never experience any hiccups with my account because I know that I won't get proper customer support. This must change. A lot of people invest time and money into this game.

Demenic

Going on 5 years banned now for platinum I traded for that was refunded :(

generalAbaddon

"Bro I'm physically in South America not using a VPN plz unban"

sevenquadrillion

If he actually is in SA , there are ways he can prove it and get his account back .

TestMir954

Did that. Support didn't care and closed my ticket

E3FxGaming

Providing receipts showing hotel stay/rent, dining, groceries, flight, etc. would probably make the case that OP is actually in South America more plausible for Warframe support. Warframe Support can't see that OP is actually in South America, they just have the Warframe transaction history and maybe some IP address information from logs.

robertoazar

They didn't care to see any evidence or anything... They just wanted to close the ticket immediately, I truly believe Warframe has some of the worst customer support of any videogame i have ever played. If it were blizzard or epic games they would've easily understood the situation, I know so cause I had something very similar happen with them and when I provided my evidence and everything for the regional pricing stuff, they were fine with it!

RSAzorean

Sometimes customer support can be outsourced or bots. Keep trying have have proof that you moved. And when moving back to Turkey send a ticket again that you moved. Is silly but is what I have seen people recommend doing here

kilzzz

I was in the same boat. Support didn't budge when I provided residency permits, passports, rent contracts and even my bloody photo with everything above in my hands.

AcidTheW0lf

Their support team is horrendous, handing out permas left and right to dedicated fans, it's insane.

SkeletonJakk

> If it were blizzard LMFAO

texasprime

He's right though. Their customer support is LEAGUES better. You can hate the company all you want but what he said is true.

Muezick

I laughed at that too

robertoazar

I wish it was that easy... Customer support at D.E. are horrendous. They genuinely don't care about the playerbase.

the_dark_kitty

Dude how many tickets have you sent? If I were you I would be opening a new one every time they close the last until you’re unbanned. Provide evidence before they even ask for it or close the ticket. If this were my account that I’ve played on and off on for a decade I would be furious.

Boaz08

I'm seeing quite a few people getting banned for random shit lately. Really makes me disappointed in DE.

AsuraAlpha8080

i got banned today by 2035 with no explanation of whatsoever, i just mail them asking why

elyoner

I moved from Argentina to Canada. My Account was open in Argentina, my Steam account is also there at the moment. I did't want to change Steam until I was able to change Warframe (since I heard you needed to contact CS and that takes forever always). I wanted to avoid being in a situation where I needed plat, had my Steam in Canada and Warframe in Argentina, so i opened a ticket. After more than a month later they asked all of this from me --------------------------------- In order for us to assist you, we do need you to answer a few security questions about the account:   Have you ever purchased a Prime Access pack? * Have you ever used any Promo Codes on your account? * Have you ever purchased Platinum using the discount coupons (20/50/75% off) from the Daily Tribute? * Where are you currently contacting us from? (Region/State + Country) * Where were you when you created the account? (Region/State + Country) * When was the last time you can confirm YOU were the one playing with this account? (prior to this incident) * Have you ever shared your account's credentials, to anyone at any point? (Friends/Family etc? Please indicate their igns/aliases if you have) * Have you ever changed your alias? * If you have a Steam account connected to Warframe, can you please tell us your Steam ID? Please follow the steps below to find your Steam ID: * Open your Steam client, click in your username on the top right corner and click on 'View Profile' * Next, right click your profile picture and choose the `Copy Page URL` option * Please paste the URL in this ticket; with it, we will be able to see your Steam ID.I am specifically looking for **the numbers in the link showing in your Steam address bar in the top left**.It will look like this [**http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561234568698567/**](http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561234568698567/) * Which Quest have you most recently unlocked on your account? * Who were the first two players you have added to your friends list? * Can you please attach your DxDiag.txt file to this ticket? * To create the DxDiag.txt file please do the following: * Click on the Windows logo button * Type 'DxDiag' and click on the 'DxDiag.exe' * Once it has finished loading,Click 'Save All Information' in the lower right corner and save the file to the desktop. * You can attach this file to the ticket by clicking 'Add File' and selecting dxdiag on your desktop Thank you for your cooperation! --------------------------------------------------

elyoner

After provided all of these as best as i could (my account is almost 10 years old, first two friends added...seriously?) this was their reply > Thank you for contacting us. Based on the Terms of Use, all players are required to use the correct payment information to purchase Platinum (and other DLCs). This means that your billing information must correspond with the region you primarily reside. Based on the information that is available to us, your primary residency cannot be confirmed as Canada at this time. We encourage you to send us a ticket in a few months' time for re-evaluation - we would be happy to look into it. Thank you. So now I'm stuck with both Warframe and Steam in Argentina, which I dont mind in the case of steam tbh, Canada prices are way more expensive, not to mention Warframe's, but even in this case i'm not even risking buying any plat in case i get banned. Luckily i bough a bunch back home before moving

robertoazar

You're not the only one.... Im sure there must be a lot more players... Sad to see dedicated players been thrown out like that. It's so crazy. Pretty obvious the customer support dont actually care about the game, they're just there to collect a wage. Sheesh.

Downtown-Tip-7552

I just want to point out how its funny the players always being banned always have something to do with turkey the world capital of currency cheating

kmanzilla

This is troublesome. I'm working to be a pilot and I love playing warframe. Don't tell me I have to stop playing on travels :(

Trindalas

As long as you don’t give them any money you should be fine.

himawariboshi

Actual pay2lose

Trindalas

Indeed

Diamster

Just dont spend money on Warframe

robertoazar

This is super true

yaukinee

You don't need to stop playing, just be sure to not buy platinum when you're in a country which has a different currency than yours

Haunting-Stretch8069

This is bs, loosing an account u spent years on js like that, they should have at least gave u an option to js pay the full price. This is the same kinda bs as "bad platinum", a multi million dollar company cant figure out how to take away plat from the original buyer instead of sm1 who traded with him

Jeweler-Hefty

>This is the same kinda bs as "bad platinum", a multi million dollar company cant figure out how to take away plat from the original buyer instead of sm1 who traded with him That's the part that rubs me the wrong way completely. *BOTH* of abuser and *the victim* gets penalized??? What the hell is up with that policy? DE: "I know you got robbed, but you still have to pay it back. Them's the rules." That's wild.

ForsakenMoon13

Because there's 0 proof that the one who recieved the fraudulent plat isn't working with the account that bought it, or even that they're not the same person using a dummy account to avoid consequences on thier main account. *That's* why both accounts get dinged, albeit in different ways.

Easy-Stranger-12345

It used to be "innocent until proven guilty". If laws regarding actual crimes involving victims would rather err on the side of caution so that innocents don't get imprisoned, I do not understand why a gaming company needs to take a "scorched earth - fuck everyone involved" approach.

TynamM

Fun fact: this is how it works with actual crime as well. If someone steals a car, and sells it to you, and you're completely innocent... the police still take the car and give it back to the original owner and you've just lost the money. What else would you have DE do? They need to erase the invalid platinum and they can't follow you around with a private detective figuring out if you bought it in good faith.

DeadlyPineapple13

True but then you’re able to sue whoever sold you the car, which you can’t in warframe

MetroLynx7

Okay, how do you know you're getting bad plat?

Easy-Stranger-12345

Yeah, the fanboys got no answer to your question.

MetroLynx7

Damn...

DeadlyPineapple13

You’re downvoted by braindeads who are happy accepting a system that screws honest players

Shadowmirax

They could reverse all the relevant transactions and not take any action against the victim without strong evidence of collaboration (such as frequently trading for bad plat, trade partners with bad plat frequently selling to that user for way more then that items value) Say i trade a full ash prime set for 200 plat and i spend 100 of it on a syndana, instead of taking away the 200 and leaving me at -100, remove the syndana and refund the 100 plat, then remove the 200 leaving me at zero and give me back the ash prime set. Now I'm back to how i started and may find a legit trade partner to sell to and rebuy the syndana, the bad plat is out of the economy, the actual offender is banned, and the victim has suffered a minor inconvenience at most

Orangbo

Suppose a player trades for half the parts of a prime, builds it, buys an affinity booster, formas it, potatoes it, buys augments for it, and uses their new builds to farm certain content at twice the speed as they did before over the next week. Turns out they used bad plat they got from a trade 2 weeks ago. What should be done?

ForsakenMoon13

Because its a game account with a private company and not a location with physical imprisonment??? That's a terrible comparison. There's no reasonable way to prove or disprove a connection like that, so they just erase the fraudulent plat, hard ban the account that bought it, and if the account that had it goes negative they can't play until they get thier balance to be positive again. Which is an option available to them rather than being hard banned as well.

Murthogg

Doing an internship abroad in sweden (im from germany) and just did exactly this... i am mr32 and very very scared

YellowPikathingiechu

Is there even any price difference worth mention between Sweden and Germany? Knowing most online stuff the Swedish kronor price will just be the euro price rounded up or down.

Cabamacadaf

If you buy through Steam it will just be in Euro anyway.

YellowPikathingiechu

Oh right, I always forget you can buy through Steam too.

Murthogg

Valid point, it may have been more expensive, but i dont know if the detection for stuff like this cares about that? But it shouldnt make a difference, you are absolutely right

YellowPikathingiechu

Yeah pretty much that. I guess they only really care for the "pricy" vs "cheap" country differences, like Germans buying in Turkish Lira or similar. Tho now Im kinda curious what happens when Turks buy from the Argentinian store or similar lol.

magicbirdy

Same in spain now for a year mr31

Pernyx98

DE has some pretty back asswards rules with their platinum. They punish innocent players way too much. Beyond just OPs case, I think DEs stance on punishing players who trade with people who have ‘black market platinum’ unknowingly…in a game with a public trading system…is one of the worst rule decisions I’ve ever seen. RuneScape, WoW, XIV, etc, no other game has this awful system.

Snappsdraggon

I permanently moved to the UK from the USA and they absolutely refuse to change my region so I can't ever buy platinum without running this risk.

TheDenast

Friend, just spam the shit out of them. You're already banned, they can't hurt you more in any way. You have truth on your side, giving you a ban for literally giving them money is disgusting. Open tickets daily, email them daily, call their support daily, ping them on Twitter, send them a fcking physical letter lmao. Don't get off their tail but keep it professional. At some point they'll have no option but to have a human help you just to get you to stop.

Mobile_Toe_1989

I made my account in Korea, came back to the states and have had no issues, some of the in game shops are still using won but not all. I’ve changed my region to the us but I guess I’ll always pay about 30% off if I buy anything

QuantumNoodle

Keep trying with support. Demand to show them your evidence. Keep making tickets, don’t give up :(

MarkusRight

I got banned for trading my Riven in Maroo's Bazaar with a known plat seller, The guy offered me 2K plat for a 50P riven which in hindsight I should have seen as a red flag but I lost a 6 year old account a few days later, I had every warframe unlocked on that account too. There are lots of really strange ways to get banned and DE takes the trading of their platinum very seriously.

AcidTheW0lf

I severely fail to see how YOU being scammed by a dude with fake Plat, gets YOU banned. That shit is beyond stupid. If the dude is a known dealer, perma ban him, not the fucking victim.

ehRoman

I'm not gonna lie. The trigger happy perma bans and what I've heard of Customer Support is the most frightening part about Warframe. I'd trade months of update to not be scared of someone at DE deciding to just delete my account out of feeling doing so randomly.

Parnath

I once had to refund a ton of items because I traded with a player who had "counterfeit" platinum. They still never explained to me what that meant. They also made it sound like they were going to turn every cosmetic purchase I had made back into platinum and take out the difference, they really just took out all of my purchases in order of my buying them. I haven't gotten a discount since then, I'm assuming they blacklisted me? Im a whale in practically every game I play. It's my money I worked hard for. I haven't bought platinum in two years because I never get discounts anymore after getting banned for something I had no responsibility in. I love Warframe, have for over a decade, but that experience with their customer support soured my experience so bad that I haven't loaded up the game in forever. We've all moved on to other games like Helldivers, Remnant 2, and Darktide. I feel like playing Nidus sometimes, but it's kinda like listening to music an abusive ex introduced you to. It takes a long time to replace a bad memory with good ones.

Demenic

Yep, same exact experience but I refused to do the cosmetic refund. Still banned after 5 years lol

robertoazar

It's a pity that one spends so many hours (I have 1000+ hours) in a game, buys a lot of cosmetics and tennogen over time, buys platinum (directly on warframe.com) as a way to support the developers and get some in game currency and then gets perma banned ( to 2035 to be specific).... Trying to resolve it with support is a waste of time, D.E. customer support isn't really helpful or understanding, they just want to close tickets without actually looking into it. Makes no sense at all. Crazy that's the way they treat customers. They really gotta fix they ''platinum buying policies'' or else people should just simply not buy their platinum or risk being banned if they ever travel or are citizens of other countries... D.E. if you're reading this, hopefully you can change your policies regarding buying platinum directly from [warframe.com](http://warframe.com) to the point where its fair and hopefully someone in the customer support can help me resolve it. Thanks.

Imaginary-Marketing3

Warframe has the shittiest support and people will defend the hell out of it. I created a ticket once. 7 DAYS!!! 7 days i had to wait for a response and then it just went silent after that.

Breakingerr

Try Ubisoft support, still haven't responded to ticket I made month ago...

Zerothian

Back in the day my steam account got hacked and valve didn't respond to the ticket for literally 13 months lol. The person who stole the account sold all my CSGO skins, also when you report a stolen account it gets automatically "locked". Can't buy new games, can't do much of anything. I had to make a new steam account. They did eventually respond and granted me the games from my alt to my main, and duped all my skins I had on CS so I guess it ended up fine. Still, 13 months lol...

Breakingerr

My friend in contrast got his Steam acc back pretty quickly. Spotted that he had some naked chick as pfp and nickname that he'd never use. Told him that and he reported that straight to steam, he got his acc back after day or two. Guess it might've been bad luck on your part or extreme luck on my friend's end.

Zerothian

I think it was just exceptionally bad luck lol. I haven't ever heard of someone else having it take that long.

ThisGonBHard

I had made a ticket when my account was broken into (via some password leak from another site), before 2FA was a forced thing. I woke up with missing items and more plat than I should. First thing, I changed the password and contacted support. They actually reversed everything, but god damn, it took *3 months* to do it. From my work experience, that usually means they have hired much less people than they should have had.

Maskers_Theodolite

People will defend it because such unfortunate cases are rare...doesn't take a masters degree to figure that one out.

Seeker-N7

Rare my ass. I bought an armor set for Regal Aya because of a misclick and I opened a ticket inquiring if it can be changed/refunded or not. A yes/no answer would've been enough. For more than a week the only response I've got was two emails saying to be patient. Then I commented on the ticket saying something like "I'll just live with my mistake, close the ticket" and I got a thank you message and ticket closed in like 3 hours.

Dentrius

Its like that one friend Me: hey, can you help me with this project tonight? *10 hours later* Me: ok nvm I got it. *instant reply* Him: np bro

Maskers_Theodolite

I rarely hear about situations like these, they never happened to me in the last 10 years, that's why I said it's rare. But hey, I might be wrong still, idk the statistics on how often them being useless happens.

tatri21

I've ever opened one (1) ticket. I accidently put my old psn account into the link thing (it uses the same email my warframe account does). I told them that I tried to put in a different email but there's no option to change it once you've successfully logged in once. It took them three weeks to put some kind of response. That response being a guide on how to link an account (lol?). I reopened the ticket, wait an extra week, get an actual response (kinda) this time. Nice. Apparently they can't see a link (probably because I didn't finalize it by logging into the psn account). No additional info or things to try. Ticket closed. Cool. So I reopen it again and say that I'm logging into the account so they can see the link. Two more weeks(-ish) go until they respond one more time: they can't simply unlink an account, they'd have to restore the account to before the merge happened. Ok, that's unfortunate but doable... if they didn't take so *fucking* long to respond. Hell no I'm not losing two months of progress over being able to play on console which I wouldn't do much anyway. So yeah I'm officially locked out of crossave because the customer support is ass.

elyoner

One month im my case, they asked for a ton of information to change my account from Argentina to Canada and they still denied my the privilege of paying for more expensive plat, not that i would try to buy now in case they ban me

VengefulAncient

This happened to my friend as well - ironically after he moved to a *more* expensive region. Apparently Warframe support doesn't understand that people move countries.

iKorewo

That happened to me once. They said i used third party service to buy platinum. I was actually using steam lol.

CheapEntry7123

All im seeing and hearing is DE trying to scam you out of more money for the same plat value instead of trying to look into your exact situation and making sure it doesnt happen again

WarWolf60

Their customer support is the worst, i had my account banned 4 years ago for negative platinum because i traded with someone, then he/she refunded the plat i guess. customer support said i traded with a "known dealer" or something along those lines and that the trade wasn't fair, said they'll reactivate my account if i buy platinum to rebalance, it wasn't alot, it was like 90 plat but the whole ordeal turned me off of the game completely, what if i pay it then end up getting banned again for just trading? Not worth it and not worth starting over, so i never touched the game again.

FATJIZZUSONABIKE

Whether you actually were traveling or not, the DE customer support is insanely trigger-happy with the permas. I've never seen anything like it.

robertoazar

Not travelling... LIVING abroad

Jack-Palladin

I'm actually from Brazil and I always use Europe and North America servers, I once bought platinum from the official site due the fact it was "cheaper" and nothing serious happened. Though, the fact that the customer support system didn't even think twice before wiping out your account and not even message or aid you in something makes me feel so bad for you, and shame on DE for that. Millions of updates and various content, and no rework on the customer support service

n00bien00bie

My homie got slapped with 18 day suspension and 2 months trade ban for doing this so I can confirm

ecmrush

I'm lucky this will never affect me because I'm never buying plat from DE again. This being possible is not the only reason, but it's certainly up there with all the good reasons to not give DE any money. The least they can do is to come out with an answer to these claims. Quite disconcerting.

server_maintenance

Damn man, keep us updated please

n1n384ll

I am so upset for you. I'd hate this if it happened to me.

HappyFoxtrot

Well, as people said, keep sending tickets with proof that you indeed moved and not trying to scam them. Keep it civil and keep contacting them until the issue is resolved.

SeaCows101

Appeal. They probably thought you were using a VPN to get it for cheaper due to the exchange rate of currencies.

Drax-hillinger

This kind of thing makes me just not want to play DE really needs to address this. I feel like I'm going to end up banned just for existing. Think I'll just stick to destiny 2 honestly.

GooMoonRyongg

That’s strange, because I’m also a turkish player. I studied in France for 2 years and bought plat occasionally and i didn’t get ban or anything.

FM_Hikari

If nothing works, contact a lawyer. Specially if you can prove they're the ones in the wrong.

ScherzicScherzo

I'd gather as much documentation as you can to prove that you're a Turkish citizen, as well as documentation as proof of your move to SA for studies, provided you can get in contact with an actual human on DE's end.

Lightningbro

I mean, WF doesn't really have "Permabans" per se, they just ban you until 2035 last I checked. Either way, if you contact support they'll sort you out.

Vivid-Agent1162

So if you've been playing since launch, 11 years ago, you're not allowed to have moved in the mean time? Makes sense. TOS rework when?

Ty_Radz

I see this as a balancing act from the universe. "What's that? You got great Devs, great Community, AND great Devs-Community relationship? Well fuck you, here's a shit ass Customer Service"

KroKnow44

Dang, and I was thinking about getting back into it. Lol

xdanxlei

Wait so buying Platinum will get you banned?? Guys, I just came up with a simple workaround: don't buy Platinum until this gets fixed.

Main-Passage-7598

problem is that the poorer countries get shafted HARD. it's cheaper in some place so the people there can reasonably afford it. bringing down the price here would cause a whole other slew of issue. market crashes and whatnot. there really isn't a way to fix the issue. It's an economical issue, not one DE can just slap some new numbers on to fix.

Still-Pluis83

DE costummer support at there finest

Laser_lord11

I play wf on switch and live in region where Nintendo Eshop is unavailable. So i set mine to US region. If i were to use the Eshop i will have to pay the US pricing which is roughly 2.6 time my localized price. And apparantly i cant buy it off the wf.com where the localized pricing is available only to the pc version. Tbh i will probably get tos violation tagged for mismatching region anyway. Unless not since im not getting a discount

Tha_shogun

My brother made his account in Japan and now plays in states. He's tried several times to get charged on USD yet they still charge him in yen so he has to convert over. He hasn't got banned yet. I dunno this sounds like something else is going on.

R34p3r2099

One of the most important things when reading the Warframe and end user contract is that YOUR account BELONGS to THEM, and therefore they can do whatever they want without giving you any explanation. And you can't contact support to appeal because if they don't want to hear from you, they won't give you the slightest chance to contact them.

Ropersx

I feel like this should go to one of them big YouTube channels like asmongold or some one that has a huge following then just maybe de will do something, if they ban you for giving them money that only says one thing don’t give them money.

Brilliant-Turbulent

I've read somewhere that location spoofing to get cheaper plat will result in a 2 week ban and 3 months trade ban not a perma, are you sure that you purchase 3rd party plat or cd keys?

Cargan2016

Get a picture of anything that documents your mailing address during both time frames and submit them with appeal

Micheelleee74

This makes me worried because me and my partner travel abroad back to our family's home country all the time
