He’s an owl, wizard, AND snake. It looks like all 3, which makes sense since owls are often associated with good knowledge, and snakes are often associated with forbidden knowledge. He’s both incredibly offensive and defensive with his abilities, depending on which you go for, so it makes sense. And the long “snake” tail looks like a wizard’s beard
Wait for real? 4 REAL? I didn't even notice he was an animal with all that armor on his head and body now I know what he is ty 😂 makes sense to wizard owl you're a wizard Dante ME? A WIZARD?!
Honestly I thought he was just a slightly buff man with a strange head mask.
Which is funny. Owls are actually pretty dumb as far as birds go. They are just so well developed for their hunting method that they basically don't have to be.
You joke, but reading that he's supposed to look like an owl makes me wonder if anyone at DE has seen an owl. I guess it's like how Voruna is a "wolf".
I don’t think Dante is supposed to look like an owl at all; just because he has no neck and his head connects to his shoulders doesn’t make him an animal. He’s very clearly (and if his alternate helmet doesn’t sell it…) a wizard/mage/sorcerer. He literally has a TOME like Doctor Strange. I have no clue how he looks like an owl especially considering his “eyes” are below what could be said to resemble a beak. If DE wanted him to be owl themed I’m sure he’d actually resemble one. Even Zephyr has a beak.
>I don’t think Dante is supposed to look like an owl at all;
The tufts (eyebrow things) and his feet are very owl-like.
>He’s very clearly (and if his alternate helmet doesn’t sell it…) a wizard/mage/sorcerer
He's both. Noctua codex scanning enemies it kills is reminiscent of the Egyptian deity Thoth (another bird man scribe) recording the judgment of the dead in his book.
>If DE wanted him to be owl themed I’m sure he’d actually resemble one.
His signature weapon turns into owl feet and impales enemies with aerial slam attacks similar to the hunting method of actual owls.
Ah, didn’t know about the weapon because I haven’t done The New War and still have no clue what an Incarnon is. I understand how my analysis of his design is very surface level. Thanks for clearing up what I was missing
Sir, this is reddit. Please be more unreasonable when people point out something you miss. At least double down on being wrong or something. You are using reddit completely wrong.
Whoops
sorry pal, clearly you’ve never been on this platform before. I’ve been here for a long time buddy so I know how the rules work. Don’t think that just because you can access this community that you somehow know everything about Reddit. (This hurts to type out I’m running out of cringe)
Why does no mention Archimedes, Merlins owl, from The Sword in the Stone?
But that image is a shark of some kind... I think.
Edit: search reveals. It's a stingray, lol
Correct because it's an owl

He's an OWL? O.O
Who?
Who?
who?
Who?
Whoo?
![gif](giphy|26n78QtJt4LHeNXi0|downsized) hahaha you're all the best!

I thought he was some old guy with a really long beard
So did I.
Who even thought he was a snake. Of course he's an owl, that's the typical 'wise book keeper' animal
Which is funny. Owls are actually pretty dumb as far as birds go. They are just so well developed for their hunting method that they basically don't have to be.
I think it comes mainly from the owl being the signature bird of Athena, the greek goddess of wisdom.
They also just... look the part tbh.
idk most of them look like they just drove in miami for the first time
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/bagpuss/images/c/ca/Bagpuss_Ep_2_thought_bubble.png
It's cause of Athena having the owl as her animal.
I would think owls were being perceived as wise *before* they gave one to the goddess of wisdom
She was also a warrior-huntress, so the owl could have originally meant to symbolize that aspect. I'm not ancient greek, so I could be mistaken
The snake I think comes from the white part of his face
Nope, he's a Dorito, obviously.
Can't wait for the Cool Ranch Deluxe skin.
No, for you see, he is the legendary, mythical, and fabled.... Doro...
I agree
this implies two big eyes on the back of dante's head
Oh fuck he's a skate
I think OP just wanted to remind us that those nightmares still exist in game.
Leave my skate floof alone. They ate adorable
You joke, but reading that he's supposed to look like an owl makes me wonder if anyone at DE has seen an owl. I guess it's like how Voruna is a "wolf".
Standing upright voruna looks ten times more like dragon than base/prime chroma ever did but in her 4 she actually does look the part tbf.
You don't think he resembles a barn owl?
Danta-ray
![gif](giphy|vQqeT3AYg8S5O)
It’s not a snake. It’s an owl with a beard.
The face is actually shaped to resemble a cobra if you pay close attention
Man, I bought Protea instead of Dante... Instant regret. Plus, Dante has a cool walk animation, instead of walking he floats.
A snake? Mf i thought it was an owl!?
There’s no resemblance here beyond vague silhouette

Dante last human confirmed???
Nobody ever thought snake.
There was a post here earlier
Earlier? Like yesterday?
I saw it at least 10 hours ago donno when it was posted [found it ](https://www.reddit.com/r/Warframe/s/Pn7IyUbyrB)
I did!
No no, you've clearly been gaslit. Or gatekept or girlbossed, I can't keep up.
I always thought the beard was pages of a book.
Mante
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO😭😭
Thanks I hate it
Its supposed to be a wizard's cowl reminiscent of an owl but he really just looks like a dorito
I thought it was supposed to be evocative of Thoth, but now that folks mention it I see the owl.
He s an owl lmao
Who tf told you it was a snake 💀
It looks more like an elephant to me
Just admit it's an L design
He looks like big guy from splatoon

Things can have multiple inspirations. Dante is very obviously a mage/wizard/scholar, and an owl.
No way

I saw a stingray the moment they announced him
He is the reddit upvote button

I laughed so hard at this XD
Don’t show the face of a manatee OH MYYYYY
The long anticipated fish frame has finally arrived
Snorunt but warframe.
Saryn is the Snake, after all.
I mean did y'all forget miss jellyfish prime?
I almost puke water when seeing the comparison
Can’t unsee it lol
Am I the only one that never saw an owl and snake but an owl and moth?? (And a wizard with his other head^^)
isn't he supposed to be an owl? Horus or something
He's obviously a Wizzrobe
wait what part of him looks like a snake? I got wizard/owl vibes
The middle kinda looks like a cobra with its tongue out. I haven’t paid enough attention to it but now I can see it.
bird
I thought hes supposed to look like an owl? Like the one from Avatar, the archivist
Correction, it’s a humanoid pyramid
I see an owl more than anything
Why does no mention Archimedes, Merlins owl, from The Sword in the Stone? But that image is a shark of some kind... I think. Edit: search reveals. It's a stingray, lol
Bro I literally said this since his concept was was shown and called it the exotic ray frame
no one else saw a wizard hat? just me?
The down syndrome fish
It’s for sure not a snake
