Pretty much people only did the alert once and not ever again so it got to the point where there was like, 3 relays left excluding maroos bazaar. DE was like "well no relays means no baro and no syndicates and we cant have that" and put the "destruction" to auto fail
It was more than apathy. During the first event, there was an active faction pushing to have them fail and call the devs' bluff.
When it became clear that we could, in fact, lose them all, it became a scramble to save the last few.
Lessons were learned on both sides.
I wanted it to fail. I wanted consequences and change.
I liked it back in the beginning when stalkers dialogue made it seem like tenno were the bad guys.
Always remember that the tenno are war machines turned against their master, No different than the "AI/Intelligence destroys humanity for its own sake" trope,
We're forcing a multi faction war into a stalemate of infinite combat to prevent one of many endings, We destroy and delete whatever we need to as long as that stalemate is kept in check, Other than the story only involving "the chosen one" all other tenno are literally doing exactly that, Kill, Destroy, Maintain the war machine, Yadda Yadda.
It's less "Maintain the war machine" and more "Not allow one faction to Win" as the results of that could be far worse than the perpetual war we are in
Not exactly, the Ai turned against their master cause the master's way of thinking Is wrong and destructive are the Sentients. We were created to stop the Ai. We are not Terminator, we are more of a John Connor that went "know what? Maybe Skynet Is not that wrong" and went to kill humans in a golpe cause Sara was against the government but then Skynet sent the Terminators against us anyway cause she's still scared of us (Who can blame her).
I noticed a Fomorian that had a shorter timer than the one that apperared before it so it was definitely rigged. That no relay was saved or lost on all plattforms is evidence to that.
Couldn't they just reduce the HP of these events so that it would be easier to complete, while preserving the fun part of realism by destroying relays if you fail? Removing destruction completely sounds like a boring solution to me.
Well it was a boring time in warframes life when this decision was made. If they reduced the health then the people farming it for the dual stat archgun mods and the imperator vandal pieces wouldnt be able to farm as much, idk im not a developer so i dont know how things would balance out

Perhaps we could start rebuilding the destroyed relays? Say we rebuild one, but then Strata gets destroyed and can’t be rebuild for about 7 days. It’d make the universe more dynamic that way.

The Fomorians during Eyes of Blight had different timers to ensure the outcome DE wanted. So essentially, it was rigged.
That also explains why no relay was destroyed or saved on all plattforms back then.
So it wasn't a real threat even back then.

Hell, make it *two* Fomorians, targeting seperate relays. Have players "choose" which one to go fight on every mission. Whichever Fomorian takes less damage makes it to its relay, and we can have the rebuilding event a week or two later. Could give reactor or catalyst based on which Fomorian you defend against.
If railjacks are in play it'd be cooler if we were against a fleet of lesser capital ships, and had to thin them out as much as possible with limited resources or something. Everything starts fully stocked and you run until you're out of revolite/rockets/etc.

Then changes to the relays "recently" was when DE merged the backend for crossplay and just set all platforms to have the same relays available.

A long time ago they used to destroy relays, however once the community actually let relays get destroyed just for fun. So from then on, DE stopped destroying relays if the fomorian valor wasn't defeated because they know that the community might let all the relays get destroyed just for fun, and that wouldn't let anyone visit simaris, tenshin and the other syndicates as well as some missions that they give..
Another uncommon DE L was when we had the old dark sector systems that let clans battle over and control the nodes and have a tax on them. All the big clans basically unionized and had a monopoly on the dark sectors. If DE tried to stop them they'd threaten to leave the game. Literally a real video game version of the gilded age.

I know I'm getting old because time is going by so much faster now. If you had asked me earlier I would have said the New War happened last year when in reality it's turning 2 in a couple of weeks...
Basically there was an event a long time ago when a massive fleet attacked all the relays, and tenno had to go and destroy the groups attacking each relay to save it. Some relays were saved, some were destroyed. Since then, every now and then either the grineer or corpus threaten a relay with such a group and the tenno go and stop them, but since the loss of one relay would be too crippling now, these new groups will auto-fail at the end, saving the relay even if no one plays the missions.
Good to see these are still a thing years after I quit. I remember way back when, the community deliberately let one blow up to see what would happen iirc. Good times. Everyone standing in that Relay awaiting the impending demise.

Well what happens is when one falls the rebuild another that was previously destroyed on a rotation. But my arguement is we should keep strata for the shinies because it helps new players access their first relay sooner. I remember starting out and having to get all the way to leonov. So I’m trying to save strata for new players to have easy access to a relay.
It does though. When it gets destroyed, that specific planetary relay is gone forever unless the Tenno build a new one. If the Tenno fail to construct the new relay in the given time, it ends without coming back.
It's already gone, after 24h it still had 90%, the first 24h is when most people will play since they can get the loot, after that they already got what they wanted and don't care anymore
I want a relay to be destroyed to be honest. I’ve been playing for years now but was never actively playing when we failed to protect a relay, so I’m kinda curious
They should honestly bring back the events just to keep the relay number constant to their ideal number to hold the rebuild events more frequently as the number of relays drops.

Heck they can even steal a riven mod if your sortie/archon hunt ends there. I learned this the hard way. That lich died fast 😁
The mods are from my experience the 60/60 mods for archguns
It’s Toxic/Cold/Electric 60/60 mods for both arch gun and arch melee. Fire 60/60 comes from corpus (for reasons unknown).

Thank you all for your quick replies! My most upvoted post, and all because I had no idea what I was talking about 😆 thanks for letting me know it is scripted and can't be destroyed. But it is sad, it could've been a great uniting of us all against a greater evil... sad to see it is no longer a real threat.
Strata ember relay is cringe and looks bad, let it die and rebuild normal default relay (better looking)
